I know that Final Fantasy started off as a pseudo medieval setting with some scifi elements but ever since the steampunk setting of FFVI, the games have explored more futuristic settings and characters. With FFXV over the horizon, do you think we will see a return to those medieval settings?
Perhaps you are right, the World of Ruin felt like a Western RPG where the player had more freedom to explore around in the game. I can see why that may break the flow of the game for some people.
I really love this game and its world but I also wonder what are the flaws of the story and what can be done to improve the game's story and plot? I don;t hate the game but I wonder what its flaws are.
While the localization and translation have gotten better over the years, there are still things that was lost in translation or wasn't properly localized. I know translation is hard work and there are things in Japanese that may not work in other countries, I just want to ask if there are...
There are some fans who feel that the ATB battle really wasn't good for its day and that it really wasn't as 'active' as it was advertised. I am not an expert on these things but is the ATB really that innovative?
I am sure you had similar jokes and memes from the Final Fantasy games and the dissonance between what is happening in the story and what the game itself shows us. Here are some examples that I can name of the top of my head being: Why doesn't Cloud revive Aeris with a Phoenix Down? Why are...
I know this isn't limited to FFIV as other games FFVII and Tactics also have spinoffs and sequels but even they pale in comparison to FFIV. FFIV seems to be the game that Square Enix and fans alike hold in a high regard due advancements in technology in the SNES as well as the story that helped...
I guess it is a case of 'damned if I do, damned if I don't' situation in regard to franchises. I guess Final Fantasy experimental is a blessing as it allows them to explore new ideas and new worlds. What about the Persona sub series of Shin Megami Tensei? It does a similar thing to Final Fantasy...
The Final Fantasy series wouldn't be where it is without any of the experimentation and I don't know if I can add to anything you said but do you think that it can also be its weakness as well as its strength?
The Final Fantasy games have always been fairly experimental when it comes to gameplay, story, design, etc with few recurring elements but I heard was criticism of this format is that they constantly have to reinvent the wheel or lack of consistency. I really like how the series reinvents itself...
Me Too. I just wanted to keep with tradition and speaking of remakes, FFV needs to remade for consoles as I feel that the game could work what with games like FF Explorers and Bravely series are any indication. They could even expand on the story, create more classes and make more bosses for the...
I am not offended at least, I do admit that FFVI can drag on in some places like for example the Auction house. My unpopular opinion is that I wish Square Enix would remake FFVI for the 3DS with 3D graphics and voice acting.
