SPOILERS A black holes in the story i want answered.

Okay, i'm going to list the things that are not explained in the story/or i miss them everytime i play!

1- Tidus is from the ancient machina city of Zanarkand, and there is no sin. Lady Yunalesca is also from this zanarkand, and is the first person to defeat sin. Which meant yunalesca lived BEFORE sin ever came, as did Tidus right? - So why had Tidus never heard of yunalesca/lord zaeon? - Maybe she wasn't famous until she defeated sin, i get that. But, when you enter Guadosalam manor, it shows Yunalesca as LIVING there/ in the bedroom [you know this from entering LeBlanc's bedroom in X-2, and seeing it is the same room, right? So, if Guadosalam was around then, why didn't tidus know? - On the same thought, Lenne from X-2 was a summoner, from ancient machina Zanarkand, which means that summoners WERE around while Zanarkand still existed, why didn't tidus know?!?!

2 - Tidus gets sucked into Sin, and taken to spira 1000 years in the future. Thats how tidus managed to get there, HOW THE HELL DID JECHT GET TO SPIRA!?, it says jecht went out to sea one day and never came back, presumed dead. Well i'm i weak swimmer admittedly, but surely even a Blitzball player can't swim for 1000 years into the future????!!??

3. Jecht is the current form of Sin [in spira] he was the most recent Final Aeon right?, sooooo, when sin attacks ANCIENT zanarkand , he is the first sin right? Coz nobody knows what it is. But Yunalesca killed the first Sin, right? So howcomes jecht is still around, if yunalesca killed it?

4. When your crossing the moonflow, and you see the sunken machina city, that was built on bridges, lulu and wakka say it was built more than 1000 years ago [machina and tidus era] - so why doesn't tidus know of this machina city built on bridges.

5. Current zanarkand [ruins], is located in spira. It is the zanarkand tidus lived in, but destroyed. - SO surely tidus lived in spira, just 1000 years in the past? Am i right?

6. How long does a calm last? How long is Sin around for until the calm. Calli, the little girl with her mum from the mihen highroad, says she is looking forward to the calm, her Mum says "WE are looking forward to ANOTHER calm lady yuna' - which means Calli remembers the last calm, right? she's only like 5yrs or something. I just don't understand.

I feel the only one who can answer this, is Maechen!!!!
After all he's an unsent, for 1000 years!

Yunalesca was before Tidus's time. As for why Tidus didn't know, there are two possible explanations:

1. He's an idiot and just didn't pay attention to history because he was too busy playing blitzball and crying.

2. He IS a dream of the faith, so the fayth's memories may not be completely accurate, especially since they're tired.

2 - Tidus gets sucked into Sin, and taken to spira 1000 years in the future. Sin. Pay attention to the fucking story, for christ's sake.

No. Sin came about before any final aeon. Zaon was the first final aeon though. Jecht becomes Sin in the future Spira, it doesn't affect the events in dream Spira.

The two previous reasons I listed above. Or he might just never have traveled to it and didn't know about it. Who's to say the kid knew his geography?

The game outright tells you that, it doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

There is no specific time length to the Calm.

Or you could just pay attention to the game and read the dialogue instead of asking stupid questions with obvious answers.
 
Why do people think that Tidus traveled 1,000 years into the future when he was taken from dream Zanakard? :: confused ::

He was not, remember...Sin lives in present Spira and Yu-Tevon also, since he is summoning dream Zanakard from within Sin. So, in a sense, dream Zanakard co-exists with Spira, the summoning of dream Zanakard is not a single event that occured 1,000 years ago but one that is ongoing.

To be quite honest, this Final fantasy has the most straightforward storyline. (excluding the old skool ones)

Anyway to answer question 1: Yunalesca is from the real Zanarkand - the one which Bevelle invaded and destroyed by using machina. Yu Yevon then summoned Sin, in which Sin pursued the Bevvel troops and destroyed all the machina cities. (Yu Yevon was originally a summoner) The Fayth wanted to preserve the memories of Zanarkand, and created 'Dream Zanarkand'. Everyone in this city is a dream of the Fayth. Summoners were indeed around at the time, but I repeat, The Zanarkand Tidus is from isn't the same as the one Yunalesca is from. Hence why Tidus had no clue about her.

2: Jecht came across Sin, who could pass through Dream Zanarkand; Sin brought him to Spira.

3: Read question 1.

4: Tidus doesn't know because he's never been outside Dream Zanarkand. Sin destroyed all machina cities after it was created by Yu Yevon.

5: Read question 1.

6: The calm lasts less than a year. There's proof in the game...but I can't remember what was said about it.
 
okay, i do get it all now. i just read that timeline thing.
- i never understood the whole dream thing. that realy confuzed me.
-even after playing x & x-2 like 2 times a year since they came out!

Yu Yevon created the dream Zanarkand 1000 years ago, so the dream is of the 1000 year old Zanarkand and the dream itself has lasted 1000 years. I'm pretty sure that qualifies Tidus as being 1000 years old.

That's just sad. Have you ever read a single line in the games, or do you just skip dialogue so you can get to the fighting, then ask questions when you miss obvious plot points?
 
I read somewhere that the length of the Calm is halved every time that Sin is destroyed. We know that Braska's Calm lasts for about 10 years. Don't quote me on it, but I read that Yunalesca's Calm lasted 600 years, and was halved accordingly, so.

I know that's OVER 1000 years, but I think it was just a theory. Yuna's Calm is known as the Eternal Calm because Sin was completely destroyed along with Yu Yevon.

We don't know that Braska's calm lasted 10 years. It seems that it lasted a lot less than that. The game starts ten years after Braska defeats sin. If you look through the gaem you'll probably see that there are orphans because of sin.
Also when Calli and Yuna talk, Yuna know what it's like to have a calm and to not have a calm.
Yuna was too young to know before Braska defeats Sin.
She describes it as a short time herself.
 
I guess not completely. I just assumed it was about 10 years because when Tidus entered Spira it had been ten years since Braska defeated Sin and that Yuna hadn't long started her training as a summoner. It is probably less than 10 years, but I wouldn't say much less.
 
Just incase you didn't know, Dream Zanarkand (the one Tidus is from) actually exists in current Spira; in short, he never traveled into the future. Sin/Jecht presumably dropped him off in Baaj Temple because of the toxin - if he stayed too long on Sin, he would die. Auron was an unsent, so it wouldn't affect him. People have never found Dream Zanarkand before, because of the fear of using machina. I suppose the airship could have found it, but they had too much on their hands at the time.

Sin destroyed Dream Zanarkand that day for many reasons - he wanted Tidus to 'have a shot at life', but Yu Yevon's control over Sin forced Jecht to destroy it because he was too close. That information is from the Ultimania Guide of FFX. I hope that clears a few things up.

Granted, the dream is of the 1000 year old Zanakard, but my impresion, at least from what we see in the story, is that time still flows within it, even if it is a dream. Tidus was a child, he has childhood memories, we see Auron watching over him after he dies and Jecht's comments before he became Sin also imply that he was a kid. Tidus is said to be 17, so I think it is safe to say that he was born within dream Zanakard not long ago.

I think that dream Zanakard developed just as Spira did. People were born a died within it, new things were created, etc, it was not static. That being the case, I don't think we can say that Tidus existed 1000 years ago.
 
As for Tidus not knowing about Bevelle and other Machina style cities, the fayth are only dreaming of Zanarkand, not the whole of Spira. The only place in the dream is Zanarkand (look at the Blitzball game right at the beginning before Sin attacks, it's two teams from Zanarkand playing, no mention of teams from anywhere else) which would explain why Tidus and even Jecht, didn't know much about Spira.

The thousand year thing, I think that's down to the Fayth dreaming of Zanarkand before it was destroyed in the war, they are dreaming of what it looked like, what day to day life was like before it was destroyed, so the dream is how Zanarkand was 1000 years ago, so Tidus or Jecht are in no way 1000 years old, their world was the setting of how it looked before it was destroyed. The Fayth kept Zanarkand alive in their dreams, so it was never attacked by Sin, Sin never existed there, Summoners never existed there, it was just the place. Ofcourse the real Zanarkand had Summoners and knowledge of other parts of Spira, because it was the real world, not a dream.

The thing that always makes me wonder is why Summoners were even needed in the real Zanarkand. They make it sound like a summoners only purpose is to defeat Sin, so why were they needed before Sin even existed.

And @ the length of the Calm, if I recall correctly the Ultimania timeline shows the Calm ending the same year it begins.
 
Well they might not have had to fight Sin, but they'd still have needed to send people to the Farplane and stuff.

I think that what happened is that 600 years lasted before another summomer could defeat Sin after Yunalesca. The Calms were quite short, I have heard they lasted 10 years but also that they didn't even last a year.

'They' is referring to the false Yevon teachings; Bevelle started the Yevon Teachings thinking that Yu Yevon created Sin because of machina etc. Of course, it was all to cover up the real truth - Yu Yevon is summoning Sin from within; the teachings state it operates by itself.

And yes, the Calm lasts less than a year.

But Sin was more or less programmed to act a certain way, no? It destroyed maquina civilizations so that people could never find dream Zanakard. I am not sure that Yu-Yevon had control over Sin as he only existed to summon and didn't have much of a conciousness left in him.

Yes which is why I stated the Yevon teachings are false. The Jecht version of Sin went too close to Dream Zanarkand, and Sin went into 'Destroy mode'. That's what you see at the start. Sin has probably come into contact with Dream Zanarkand before, however, not close enough to destroy it.

There's one question I would like to know though - does Auron know that the inhabitants of Dream Zanarkand (along with DZ) are....dreams? Surely he must, because he has traveled to the real ruins, and the dream version...but he doesn't show any sign that he knows.
 
I would say he does knows, after all, he travels to dream Zanakard to look after Tidus and then at the start of the game takes him to Spira from there. I was under the impresion that the Jecht's Sin went to dream Zanakard on purpose to look for Tidus, I think it was part of his plan to help break the cycle of death in Spira. Only Tidus, someone with a complete different outlook and who is alien to Yevon and it's teachings could push things against the traditions that had been going on for 1000 years.
