I thought they were going hold back until E3 to tell us the release date... Well.. Yay for release date!

The above boxart Ohri-Jin posted is the North American one.

Here are the other boxarts:

I prefer the North American boxart with Gaius Van Baelsar looking badass with the sword there. It really reminds me of the FFXII Gabranth one...almost. Heck, he looks just like an Archadian Judge Magister. I love the colours and I wish that Europe gets that one. The Japanese one, while nice with Yoshida's art style reminding me of the Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together front cover, is a bit too busy.

Wow! That is some beautiful art. Yeah, that guy really does look like a Judge Magister from FF XII. That was my first impression upon seeing the boxart. :lew: August 27? Hah... a few days before I start University. It is very unlikely that I will get it due to it not being free. I would love to play it on playstation 3 though as I have said in other threads.

As much as I love the Judge Magister covers, Im loving the Japanese cover the most. It shows all races and im assuming most of the jobs and classes. It looks very well drawn.

The Australian cover is ugly :(

I will get it though. I am actually kind of excited to be ab MMO nerd.

Now... do I re-buy the CE just to get all the physical items....?
That Amano art is godly.

I love the idea of rereleasing a failed MMO-long term game with less then a year left on the system's life.

You would be surprised how many people were waiting for the PS3 release still. That and Yoshida promised that he would follow through with the PS3 release despite the next gen right on the doorstep. A PS4 port at a later date has all but been confirmed via community interviews.

Yes. And offers some great equipment. Its definitely a good head start. Not only that but offers armor of the warrior of light from the original FF

Apparently whenever I say Phsyical Items, everyone reads it as in-game items :) I already own the CE of 1.0 (as well as a legacy player), as such will be getting all the digital goodies and early access. If I want the Art Book and DVD Movie summary, and boxart, my only option at this point is to purchase an entirely new CE. I'll end up with 2 copies of the game, but I guess I don't have a choice. I'm debating at least purchasing the PS3 CE, so at least I can play from either platform, this will at least make me feel a little better about spending $80 on the art book. =)

I dont think you have to buy everuthing separately if thats what you asked. Im more vouching for the in game items

I guess I wasn't actually really asking, as I understood what my options were in regards to my specific collection. I more or less was thinking aloud / venting in my OP as I had hoped I wouldn't need to spend $80 just for some limited goodies. From my viewpoint, I am buying an unneeded second copy of the game in order to obtain the Art Book, a music CD, summary DVD, and the digital preorder Mog Cap / Cait Sith. The rest of the items I am receiving regardless due to already owning the CE of 1.0. (game + CE digital items).

Since the game is $40 by itself and the CE is $80, I'd hoped they were going to offer a $40 option for just the CE physical items. Oh well, can't win em all. I'm already pretty happy with receiving a permanent discount, and special Chocobo just for being a legacy member in addition to the CE digital bonuses (Mount, Light Helm, Barding, Minion). I shouldn't gloat any further about Legacy bonuses, I know a lot of folks are mad that it even exists (a whole topic on its own really)

More than likely, I will by this CE. Even if it is to support the massive effort SE put forth. We might never see this from any company again, ever. I've been giving SE a lot of respect for what they are doing, everyone other publisher would have let a failed MMO collect dust, or milk some Free to Play out of it's customers. I might as well speak with my dollars to show them they did a good thing. I can't wait to get back online into Eorzea from a whole new perspective.

Its obviously for universal dissaproval of ff game. Still, I tjink it was a hoax. Ff14 is a ploy to distract ff13 haters. I mean, ff14 1.0 had virtually no promotion whatsoever, everything rushed and it looked like there was no supervising done. Im fairly certain ff14 was intended to be a fail.

Anyways, I do agree this time their putting the effort. idk, im sure the collector items will be released on their own, but theres a 50/50 chance they wont.

Indeed the north American art is very attractive. I dig it. What I wonder, now that we have a release date and all, is what are the odds of this games price dropping in any way by the time Christmas rolls around? I still want to get it, but still.... I'd rather take some of the guilt off of me by buying the actual game at a lower price. Still, I'm excited for this game. It's gonna be hella dope, I know it. XD

I'm sorry but how can you think FF14 was an intended fail? Square Enix would have to be retarded to make one bad game so that some of their games would look halfway decent. Square Enix may be many things, but they are not retarded.

Anyways I'm excited for this game to come out. Not to excited, considering the quality of products they've been shelling out lately, but I need a break from WoW so hopefully this game will be good.

How much is it really costing them? Ff14 practically had no promotion, no commercial, no anything upon its release. If this wasnt intentional, it shouldve driven them to the ground and lose resources to even attempt a complete remake.

FFXIV had plenty of promotion; do you read Gaming magazines or visit websites? And sure they lost alot of money with this game but the more important thing is they lost the respect of their fans. I don't think any company would intentionally make their customers angry, it's just bad business.
