which final fantasy do u think had the best beginning, and which one do u think had the best ending? i thought x-2 had the best beginning (cause it ropes u in the best) even tho the game sucked, and ix had the best ending for me because it waz so sweet and all of the characters ended up happy (with the exception of vivi)

The beginning of FFX was the best for me because, well, it's the destruction of an entire city! And it looks amazing.

The best ending was, until AC came out, FFVII, because it left you guessing about what happens next, it was different because it just didn't spell everything out for you, you had to think and you could make up your own ending...and then AC ruined that :P

As much as I disliked this game it had the best beginning for me, and that is Final Fantasy VIII. Mostly because you see Seifer and Squall dueling with their gunblades.

For ending I have to say FFXII. It's hard for me to say why, but I did like the part with Balthier "Finding something better", and how everyone else went about their lives....heh guess I sort of contradicted myself for saying 'it's hard for me to say.' :D

From the ones I've beaten so far...

I'd say that X-2 had a nice intro and I loveddd X's ending no matter how sad it really was. <3.

FF7 had the best beggining. Foreshadowing the importance that Aerith would have later in the game and putting you right in the middle of a mission. FF7 did a good job of introducing it's main plot points (Cloud's connection to ShinRa, the struggle for the life of the planet, etc.) You pretty much get pumped up to see what happens next.
The best ending would have to be FF10. It was so bittersweet and satisfying at the same time. It's one of the best endings I've seen in a video game.

I really liked the beginning of X it was quality, I loved the music and Auron is just so badass
The ending was really sad -and I cried like a buffoon- but it was all wrapped up so well

I really liked the ending to VIII as well tho, the bit with Laguna choked me up >.< and it was just plain amusing when the credits were rolling xD

FFVIII had the best beginning, the fighting with seifer then the fire cavern and going to dollet.

FFX had the best ending, it was sad, but jecht was no longer sin and auron got to be sent.
and tidus reappears in the sea so its not all sad

Best Intro: VII first starts showing a random flower girl ( who later turns out to be not so random) but then you are thrown into other place in a huge city and really catchy music starts playing and soon you learn you have to do terrorist attack!? You suppose you are going to play with warriors of light but no you are the bad guy... or so it seems.

Best Outro: Hard one, I think VI:s since I like that book thing were each characters last name is revealed and everybody has some part in the ending. Even though world is still shitty and ruined but now it has hope to recover and you get almost happy ending. At least I was sad that many of the playable had lost someone very dear. VI is full of sad love stories but there is few nicely ending too.

I say it far too often, but my favourite opening is FFVIII. I turned it on for the first time and watched the FMV into with Liberi Fatali, and I think I fell in love with the game there and then. It's still jaw-dropping.

As for ending, I have really enjoyed all the endings to the FF games I have completed, but it's probably FFVIII again. I really like the Ending Theme, it gets nicely trippy at one point (lol), and I love the camcorder bit as the credits roll, it's a sweet way of finishing it all off. Plus that bit where one of the traditional FF music pieces kicks in (I can never remember its name) and the credits start always gets me.

Seven's beginning was good because it was so to the point. Much as I love dollops of story later in a game, when I start to play a new game I actually just want to play it. Story's nice but early on I honestly don't care about the characters. I havn't seen them do anything yet.

For the same reason, I found ten and twelve's openings far too longwinded.

Nine was an odd one, I loved it very much even though the battles (save for that first one didn't come for such a long time because it was so cute and punctuated by fun. If you need a long opening nine's way of pulling at off has to be one of the best.

As far as openings go, I'm torn between seven and nine.

As for endings, nine again. I love a long ending because by that point I've really grown to love the characters and so I find the chunks of story interesting instead of them being stuff preventing my from playing my game. I also love endings sweet enough to rot teeth and be dangerous to diabetics. Nine was BRILLIANT with this. (If you ignore the whole Necron thing, which I do.)

Six's ending was also sweet in a totally different way. Six could hardly be described as outright 'cute' as nine could, but the ending was so optimistic compared to the 'one crushing blow after another' feeling the rest of the game seemed to have. 'Yes the world got pretty much destroyed but the big problem's gone and things are only going to get better from now on' kind of thing. And they managed to convey all that with minimal dialouge and without any of the graphical advantages (camera angles, fmvs) that the later games had. (To be honest I wouldn't WANT six's ending to be an FMV. It would ruin it.)

So yeah, another tie.

Yeah I love the beginning of VII, though the FMV itself leaves little to be desired I love the big epic feel to it, then just being thrust straight into the action.

My favourite ending by far is FFX. I'd never cried over a game ending, and didn't cry so much over a movie ending, but that ending had me covered in tissues:)

The introduction to VII was the best imo. Even though the graphics were so-so, you could really capture the mood and the tempo. It was pretty original too, much like a movie or something, and it was the first game that I had that actually did such a thing.

As for best ending, what else but IX? I thought it was pretty heartwarming, which is helped along by 'Melodies of Life', and I thought the ending pretty much completely wrapped up the plot of the game, unlike in VII's where it was pretty open-ended, and VIII's which was just...bleh.

Even though it wasn't my favorite Final Fantasy, I'll have to say that VIII had the best intro, and the best ending as well.

The intro really got me pumped for the video game. It was so well done. And, the ending left me feeling the most whole at the end. It was so long, and really made me feel rewarded for beating the game. Plus, it was nice to see a lot of the minor characters in the fmvs at the end. It seemed like Square's way of apologizing for forcing them all completely in the background. xD

Eitherway. VIII gets my vote.

I love the opening for VIII as it has so much action which is done perfectly. Leads into the game greatly - but then the game slows down ..... a bit.

Hmmmm ending.
I can't remember VIII at all, don't tell me I don't want to know at the moment.
I absolutely hated the way VI ended, I felt it was a waste of time finishing the game with such a useless ending movie bit.
Disappointed slightly by V.
Loved IV's ending, because I'm a fan of both Edge and Rydia. Not my favorite though.

I liked the way IX finished it was nice, still not my fav though. X is pretty much the same.

My fav some how and I only just realised this is XII, I don't really like the story all that much but somehow the ending is great right from the airship battle ... I think that's it. yep
XD

Even though FF10 isn't really my top favourite, I'd say it had one of the best introductions and definitely the best ending. The intro was just interesting. It was fast-paced and in a way alluded to some of the future events in the game.
As for the ending, it was very sad but very well done. The entire Sending scenario, the characters' actions and the music made it simply unforgettable. The aeons/fayth played an important part in the story, that when they were vanishing, it felt like parting with some of the characters you've known throughout the entire game. Auron was my favourite character, needless to say, it was quite painful to see him go. And Tidus too, although he and Yuna annoyed me sometimes, his departure made for a very touching finale. I loved how he then dived into the Farplane to reunite with Jecht, Braska and Auron, leaving Spira for the living. Then there was Yuna whistling.. and her final speech.

*sigh* Thanks, FFX-2, for ruining that.

Am I the only one who found FF1's ending to be quite sad? The 'awww...' sort of sad. FF1, FF2 and FF Adventure's endings were good, let's not forget our ancestors. :P
FFT's ending was interesting even if it was very vague. FF12's ending was cute; so was FF6's, but it felt incomplete.

Back to beginnings...
FF12 had another beautiful intro. The wedding jubilation followed by the attack. I liked how the scenes contrasted: Ashe and Rasler's marriage and eventually the one with his funeral~ "Faram."

The beginning of FF7 was also quite beautiful- loved the atmosphere of Midgar.
I don't like FF8 at all but I have to say that it had a nice intro and the ending was sweet.

It's normally the sad endings that turn out to be the best, as opposed to living happily ever after. Lots of FFs had nice beginnings, but few of them had a good, solid ending. Well come to think, excellent RPG endings are rare.

Just a couple of scattered thoughts. ^_^

Final Fantasy VIII's opening sequence will always be my absolute favorite in the entire series.. and SO FAR my favorite ending has been FFX's. I cried.like.a.baby.

tidus doesnt die at the end of FFX. he comes back and you see him in the sea, so he is alive

just thought id clear that up

Before the story of FFX-2, you could not say for sure. Gliding past dead characters indicated he was more dead than alive and it made more sense that way. For all we know, the sea could have been in the Farplane if FFX-2 didn't go on to prove otherwise. IMO, the ending was complete as it was. But nay, X-2 had to come and ruin it... I remain a fan of the original FFX, not its sequel.

Do you mean the intro video or the actual opening part of the game?

I'm going to assume the latter... I think FFIV has the best intro because you get an instant view of what the main character has done, how he feels and what he is going to do next.

For an ending, I like FFVI. Everyone running through and helping each other to escape... although Shadow stays behind. I'd like to see what happened to him.
