VII, without a doubt...even if I do feel a bit cheap for saying it. It's the obvious choice but in all honesty the compilation has tainted it a bit for me. I'd like to think that I'm no fanboy of the game who will hopelessly defend it despite all of it's faults, but it certainly is my favourite game of all time. Like many others it was the game that introduced me to the series and RPGs in general.
I'm not surprised to see it top of the list but the low ranking of X-2 makes me feel I need to give it an honourable mention. X-2 is one of my favourites of the series as it dared to be different even if a lot of fans didn't like the direction it took. I think the game was taken a tad too seriously by some and way too seriously by many.
