Buying a game system for one game

Nah, I wouldn't buy a console just because there's a game exclusive for that console even though I want the game. The single game alone doesn't justify why I should buy a console for that reason because if I don't find any other games to buy, then buying a console for one game is just a waste of time and money.

I'll only buy a console if there are 6+ games that I'll definitely buy now or in the future.

I think almost every console I have ever bought, I've bought for one game in particular. But I also knew that there would be other games I'd want on it, so it's not like I got the console and paid for it knowing I'd only be playing one game on it ever.

Yeah... I've done that.

Only once, mind you. I started watching Phoenix Wright videos on YouTube and just fell in love with the game's story so much I just had to play it, but in order to do that I needed a DS, so I used the money I had saved in the bank and I bought a DS, then the game. Only recently bought the first sequel on eBay.

I wouldn't have done it for the PS3 (even though I really wanted to play Metal Gear Solid 4) because that was just WAY too much. DS was at a more reasonable price, at least imo. And at least now if there's a DS title I want I can check it out.

I did this once. When I was overseas, I was waiting for the local green zone PX to sell the XBox 360 so I could buy The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. I had the regular XBox, and I loved Morrowind so much that I could hardly wait for Oblivion, but since it was coming out on the new system and not the old one, I knew I'd have to shell out some cash for the new system.

i did it :p i bought a PSP only to play crisis core XD though i play other games in it now...but i first bought it only to play crisis core

I bought a PSP just to play Dissidia. I've used it for other things such as storing music, movies, and other games since then. At the time of purchase, however, my mind was solely on Dissidia.

Sure. Did it for the first Gears of War (360) and Zelda for the Wii. Was /going/ to do it for Zelda on 3DS too, but then they released the glorious Mario 3D and things became even more awesome.

I bought a psp for crisis core and dissidia only. In the end though I got a few more games for it, but lately I just play my ps1 classics on it.

I've been considering buying a PS3 for MGS 4 and Versus XIII when it's released. I wish I'd bought a PS3 over the Xbox originally but it was so damn expensive!

Just about every system I now own was the result of one game.
This meaning is two fold for me: Every game system I've bought was a result of Final Fantasy VII and every system was bought for a Final Fantasy game.
I played FFVII on my really slow computer growin up and fell in love with it. Once I saw how much smoother it was on PS1 I had to have it - luckily FFVIII & FFIX were close behind. PS2 launched and FFX came and I had to have it again!! Of course I found other games but it was still FFX that made me say - I have to buy this! I enjoyed the hell out of my PS2 (Dark Cloud 2!!) Well into the PS3 generation. Then they announced FFXIII and I quickly found myself at Best Buy trying to decide what size hard drive I needed in my soon to be new PS3. :)

I bought the PS3 just to play Final Fantasy XIII which at the time was a PS3 exclusive, then at E3 SE announced it was coming to the Xbox 360.... cheers Square.

Well at least MGS4 stayed on the PS3 so there was still a reason to buy one plus Final Fantasy verse XIII is supposed to be a PS3 exclusive, though the way its going it might be a PS4 exclusive. lol

I did that one time. I played Shadow Hearts for 1 hour at a friends house, when I left his house I went straight to the nearest shop and bought a PS2 with Shadow Hearts. I didn't even look at other games for weeks.
