I just watched the english dub recently and noticed that Cait Sith has a Scottish accent. Does anyone know if there is a reason for this? Because I never noticed anything like that in the game. Otherwise I loved all the english voice acting. Thought it was cool that Rachel Leigh Cook did Tifa's voice. I think she is signed up to do Tifa in Dirge of Cerberus as well.

The term "Cait Sith" is in fact Scottish. Wikipedia it for more details. I for one wish they didn't go overboard on his dialogue. I didn't know what the hell he was saying most of the time.

Well i was also surprised that his accent was scottish too, When I played FFVII I always thought he had a robotic accent!

Its a scottish fairy tale, so that explains why Cait has a Scottish accent and he is played by one of my favourite voivce actors as well: Greg Ellis. Oddly enough I liked the Scottish accent though many others didn't, but I thought it suited Cait quite well myself, even though it wasn't the best attempt at a Scottish accent.

Yeah, Cait Sith is Scottish. As for Tifa, the voice actor also does her voice in Kingdom Hearts 2. The same goes for Cloud and Aeris, too.

I hope no future posters in this thread will insult his accent, for I shall hunt you down and do unpleasant things to you.

So sue me, I like the fact that little-ol'-Britain finally get's some recognition :)

"Cat fairy" is the direct translation, is it not?

For the benefit of Veygna, I shall translate what I can remember :)

[Airship] Lassie, shut yer boos! (I've never once heard this in my life, but you get the concept, don't you?)

They're the only lines I remember him saying, but you gotta love him :D

(If anyone wants a crash-course in some Scottish dialect, let me know )

Yeah, I thought his accent was kindof retarded at first, but then I found it slightly funny....doesn't change much...but still.

I shall not leave this topic alone! The Scottish accent is not annoying, it is DIFFERENT, which, evidently, some people have issues with. HINT HINT.

It added a brand new twist to the Final Fantasy series. I for one, found a new respect for Cait Sith.

i loved his accent!
i can't get enough of the scottish accent, it made cait sith so much more cute!
are you scottish, sephiroth gene?
some of my best freinds are scottish!

Why yes I am ;)

I will give the other members here a public warning: if this thread turns into one where Scotland, Scots or the Scottish accent is insulted, this thread will be closed and members involved will receive a warning/infraction. I mean it, keep it on topic.

But why does he sound scottish? Where does he get the accent from. I don't think there's a scotland in FF7.

You could then say "there is no America in the FFVII world, so why are there American accents?"

Cait Sith comes from the Scottish language and myths. There is a link to Wikipedia regarding this earlier in the thread. If you are willing, look on the previous page.

For those who are not wonderfully perceptive, I do feel strongly about this topic. Just to reiterate, I shall close the topic and warn any members who insult anything Scottish in this thread. I shall keep a watchful eye here.

I agree, it was a great part in the movie when i heard his accent! And its also good that they included the scottish roots, as it gives more depth to the movie.

I thought Cait Sith's voice was really good, it makes a change to hear a different accent other than american. :)

TSG - I'm sure it won't get that far, I'm sure members have the sense to behave here.

I can't really picture Cait Sith with any other voice really, same with that large blue musician in FFX-2.
