Well, let's hear it. Post all the different kinds of job you've had, including your current one. What do you do, exactly? What do you feel about those workplace?

As for me, I've had two jobs now. I was a cashier at a place called Meijer (kinda like Wal-Mart, including groceries.) and I did not enjoy it at all. Granted, I met a few cool people, but I couldn't wait to get out of there. Anyway, pretty explanatory job, with a few extras, such as conditioning the grocery aisles, cleaning the front-end, scrubbing trash cans (oh boy that was fun) and pushing carts inside. I worked 3rd shift so I had to go out there in the middle of the night, even in the rain or snow.

I finally quit and 3 and a half months later, I got a job at a daycare center. I am now a teacher for toddlers. Terrible Two's. My job is to create a lesson plan for them, teach them, change their diapers, keep them from biting and hitting each other, feed them...while keeping the room clean at the same time. It's such a pain. There's 11 kids and two teachers...I honestly think they should have another staff with us.

I love kids, I really do...but I seriously have the worst headaches ever. It's a wonder how I survive each day without screaming. I have to constantly raise my voice and every minute, there's the nerve-wracking feeling tugging at me - to please end the day without a single kid getting hurt and filing an incident report for the directors and parents. Some parents are really difficult to deal with when their kid suffers a minor scratch or bite.

Like yesterday, a kid came in with a fever of 102.5. Fifteen minutes later, I talked with his mom on the phone and told her he had to go home. She freaked and asked me, "I don't understand! What happened?! He was fine when his dad dropped him off!" She made it sound like she was blaming us for his damn fever! I mean c'mon, we don't have magic powers to make the kid get a fever. -.- Evidently, he was already sick before he came in.

So yep, those are the kind of things I have to deal with everyday.

EDIT: Oh yeah, out of those 8 months I worked at Meijer, I only called off once...and that's because I'm like, "Well I'm gonna quit soon anyway, so I might as well use my day off" xD I'm pretty good with attendance, really.

EDIT 2: And one more thing...the fact that all the staff are mostly women, (we only have one male teacher)...well, you could say that drama sprouts up as high as Jack's beanstalk.

I have had SO many jobs because I move around so much. When I was 15 I started out as a Dishwasher in a little cafe. Then I moved up to Prep Cook and from there became a waitress. Hated the place... Then I got a job at Dairy Queen around age 17. I LOVED it. I had the best boss and job in the world. I worked there till I finished High School and moved. I got a job at a Perkins next and waited tables. Then I moved again. Got a job as a waitress at TA and hated it. I quit and got a job at a Thai Restaurant instead. And then I moved AGAIN. First I got a job at another Thai Restaurant and then later picked up another job at a Chinese Restaurant. Didn't really like the Chinese place so I quit and went to Home Depot to be a cashier. I still had that job and the job at the Thai Restaurant till I moved back to the town I was at last time. I started out with Construction and building houses. After the job ended I got a job back at the first Thai Restaurant and a job as a delivery driver for Domino's. When I turned 21 I took on another job as a bartender, so I had 3 at once. Then I moved on last time and got a job as a coctail waitress at a club. I ended up quiting after I went back to school and I am currently working at an Old Chicago as a waitress. (And there is my job history... >.>)

I took on my first job at 16 during the summer. I did clerical work at Beacon Medical Services in Aurora, CO making $8/hour. After that, I came back to my hometown and did manual labor for my grandfather for about a year and a half. Then, at 18, I took on a contract with Dollar Saver to roll and deliver 10,000 papers every Thursday. I even had people working for me. I WAS A BOSS! I paid them quite well. About a year later I started working for UPS. I loved that job. I worked there for a year and a half. Then I worked for U-Haul for another year and a half. The U-Haul job sucked large nuts. At 22 I got my first casino job and I never looked back. Since then I've had 3 other casino type jobs. The tips are awesome along with a fairly decent hourly wage. I would highly reccomend everyone getting a job at a gambling resort.

First job was in a shoe shop, aged 17. Was there for few months and then left as the other workers were getting away with murder and I was doing 90% of the work! Its closed down now,and good cause it was a shit hole!

Next job was Matalan, a UK clothing shop and I was there for almost a year. It was a so-so job, 17 at the time. It was great at Christmas as the atmopshere was fantastic! Still had some crappy managers though.

I then worked in a computer game shop for a few weeks last year. Again I was taken advantage of and I couldnt stand it. It affected my uni homework and social life. So bye bye!

Then I worked at a small Sainsburys (UK supermarket) whilst I was at uni this year. It was a pretty good job and enjoyed working with them and made many friends there whomI miss :(

My current job is a big Sainsburys back home. Ive been there for over a month and leaving this weekend as Im starting a new job! I hate it here as the abuse from customers is nbeyond ridic!

And next week, I shall be working as a bookseller for a top book company! My dream job at last and Im looking forward to it!!

I've had a few jobs over the years, only one that I kept for over a year.

My first job I was the receptionist at Gental Dental. Kind of boring job but it kinda pushed me towards the medical career.

My second job was at McDonalds. Yes, I used to work at McDonalds when I lived in New York. I've never known a fast food place to be so busy all the time!

Next I think I worked at Hollister, a clothing company here. They actually have really nice clothes, but I wasn't paid as well as I thought I should have, so I ended up quitting after a while.

Next I worked at American Eagle Outfitters, which was a much better job, and I even got a 40% discount on their already overly priced merchandise.

And then I worked as a bartender and waitress at Paisano's Bar and Grill where I have to say I've made most of my money working there. But since I don't live by there anymore I had to quit.

Now I have two jobs for once! I am now a bartender at The Hayloft, and I am a waitress at Egg Roll Inn. I actually love both of my jobs for once, even though they aren't medical related like I would have liked, I make a decent amount of money for once.

I got a paper round when I was 15, but not like a normal one. I had two days to deliver about 350 papers. And I had to spend another night putting all the leaflets in the papers too. I did that for a little over a year, and quit just after I left school.

In January last year, I got a weekend job at JD Sports (clothes shop). I worked on the shop floor for about 6 weeks before they realised that I was crap at that, and I got moved downstairs into the stockroom, where i have to send trainers upstairs to the people on the shop floor. BEST WEEKEND JOB EVER! It doesn't pay much really (just got a par rise from the minimum wage actually), but I've got no intention of leaving. The people I work with are great. There's been some weirdos worked there over the last 18 months though...

Interesting. I wish I had a more vast experience when it came to the workplace, but I suppose I'm thankful I didn't have to go through 7-10 different jobs at an early age. =/

I'm actually dreading this coming Monday because we had staff changes yesterday and it'll come to effect on Monday.

Times like these is when I seriously want to call off.

Weird Job

Does anybody have a Job they would consider, unusual, weird or uncommon. I Myself have a pretty standard Job but what do you do?

Guess i'll post then...Worked in a Timber Mill which was great as I blulked up alot. Worked in a supermarket and now Security in a Heliport. Which is cool cause i have a good bit of power...people can loose there jobs over my decision so i've a good bit of power :), not that i'm trying to fire them. I haven't got anybody fired

I've only had one job in my life ... lol. ^_^

The work's hard, but the pay's decent, anyway. I got the job just before I was 17 and the week before I started college, so I consider myself lucky.

And yeah, I'm still in the same job for over a year now. It's strange to be here for the second Christmas running.

I'v had 2 jobs (excluding the random agency work I did when i left school)

The first one was retail, gawd I hated that - it was in a clothes shop and tidying up after people really got my goat - I was there a year and a half and I think I complained every single day lol

The one I'm in now I'v worked there for 5 and a half years - I work in an office - insurance investigations - it's pretty darn dull but I have a laugh with my mates who work there

I demoted myself back to admin becaus I hated being stuck at a desk all day answering the phones and imputting claims
Now I get to wander around and natter to people, even tho it does involve filing which I hate but oh well ^^
I had my 6th xmas do last night, I can't believe how long iv been there o_o

Work

Do you have a part-time or full-time job? If so, what do you do? Do you enjoy it...or do you dread going everyday?

Im a professional bum as of recenty, I quit my job of 6 years

It was insurance investigation, I love it at first, in fact i loved it til we got took over by some big company and it went down the shitter, I reduced my hours to part time theni eventually quit

So now im thinking of going to college or something but im justnot sure what i wanna do. id like to do something creative or practical. Maybe with cars or motorbikes o something but im not sure if i would be able too

I've got a weekend job at JD Sports (clothes shop for ye who don't know). I work in the stockroom downstairs, thankfully. Which means I don't have to put up with any pain-in-the-arse customers. The pay is a bit of a joke really - I'm on minimum wage, but I'm not leaving any time soon. About half of the people I work with are great, the other half are just dumb fucks. I'm hopefully getting a pay rise in a couple of months after the shop has got confirmation about a re-fit.

College is there to train/teach you. You could learn if it's something that appeals to you. =]

As for me, I work in a local grocery store. I stock shelves, unload trucks, bag some groceries and walk around so I appear as if I'm too busy to talk to any customers. 90% of the customers in that place are elderly, so dealing with them is especially difficult sometimes.

Can't say I love it, but my co-workers are awesome. That takes some of the pain away.

I have a full time job.I work for U.S customs clearing and inspecting shipments coming into our ports. Its a kewl job but it gets boring after a while.

How does one go about getting a job like that? O_O It sounds awesome, much better than fast food.

Anyhoo, I'm a bum right now but I'm TRYING to get a job, my funds are dangerously low. I've worked in grocery stores and fast food, and as a veterinarian assistant. The worst was easily fast food (Arby's, specifically). The particular store I worked at always hired incompetent highschoolers, and the customers were just.....ugh. There's really no words to even describe them, but every day that job would destroy my faith in humanity.

Stupid customer: hai, does ur Beef n' Cheddar has cheddar on it?
Me: yes sir...it does...
My mind: ITS IN THE FUCKING NAME WHAT DO YOU THINK?

That really happened, btw :elmo: Having jobs is rather hellish for me, because I hate people and get pissed off extremely easily. Ironically enough, I have fantastic people skills o_O

Ugh I worked in a womans clothes shop once. Never again -_-

It would have been ok if it wasn't for all the bloody customers. How I hated them. Ignorant messy bossy 'thje customer is always right' fukwits

Oooh, I hate that "customer is always right" crap. No, they aren't. Most of the time the customer is an inbred moron.

I remember once when I was working at teh grocery store, I was standing around and these two halfwit women come up to me. One of them asks me "whars teh marshmallows?" and being in a pissed off mood, I said "I don't know, read the signs." Then they complained to a manager :wacky:

Pissed me off to no end how people would constantly come up to me and ask me where shit was. I was a CASHIER, I didn't do the stocking, how should I know? And there are massive signs hanging over every aisle.
