I've been working at JD Sports for almost 3 years now. I complain a lot about having work, but the only problem I really have is having to get up so early on a Saturday/Sunday morning. >> The majority of the people I work with are fantastic.
I work down in the stockroom, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the shop. It saves me having to directly deal with customers, and I don't have to put up with the crap music that's played on the shop floor.

So many hot woman work in boots, i envy you.
Am working as a pipe fitter, its a 4 year apprentiship and im about 3 years in so far, so it wont be long til im time served. Its an okay job i guess, the money is really good, especially when im finished my time. If your wondering what a pipe fitter is, no its not a plumber. We make all the pipe structures for the oil rigs.
The only thing that gets to me is the whole workforce is male, theres nothing to look at, at all. Also up at 6.30 mon-fri isnt ideal but, it has to be done i guess.

Im working in Marketing and doing some Sales work for a Water and Food testing Laboratory. I use to work in retail, worked for OfficeMax and ran their Printing section. Retail sucks, and it sucks your soul away as well haha. I don't think people realize what assholes they can be to people working for department stores. But I understand that they do take the opportunity to walk all over you because there is nothing you can do to retort back without loosing your job.

Job is good now. Pays well.
But in the end Id love to work as an Illustrator, its just kind of hard to make enough money to pay the bills right now when you are getting started. College Loans kill me, and my car broke down so I had to buy a new car.

I work in security for a company that has postions up and down the country. Mainly I do doorman work in and around Bristol and Bath, aswell as being one of the City Marshals in Bristol at the weekend. Which means that when your all out getting pissed, im out there looking after you lot. Also do various door work at venues such as Ashton Gate when the Footballs on as well as concerts and festivals and basically anything that requires a doorman and/or security guard.

The hours vary depending whats on. Lately I've been doing alot of 12 hr shifts but most are only about 5 or 6. £10 an hour on most things though that too can vary.

Ofcourse with a job like this there ALOT of eye candy, and it's part of the job to build a repore for yourself with the customers etc so a friendly chat or 2 with big bust girl with the nice smile is pretty much obligatory :wacky:

I do kinda enjoy it. I get to go to alot of cool places and see alot of intresting shit, especially concerts and festivals, but for every good job theres always 10 shit ones like the before mentioned 12hr shifts involving little more than fuck all during the night. Its not a career move at all but now im able to earn enough money to move out and get my life back on track from where it went pear shaped last year and hopefully be able to get into Uni a few years down the line.

Ive been a bookseller for a year and almost 2 months. I dislike it as customers and my manager drive me insane. I work 30 hours a week, 6 hours a day. Its good money, but tiring lol.

my job that I've had for the last 2 1/2 years up until last Thursday was a convenient store/gas station job which I mainly worked from 6AM-2PM. It was a bitch to get up at 5AM every morning, but I did it mainly because working until 2PM and then having the rest of the day off to enjoy with family and friends was so rewarding. The only problem with it was that since I stayed up until 1AM every night, I was tired as hell when it came time for me to wake up the next morning.

I am currently out of work, but my last job was in a factory. I worked about 72 hours a week normally, it wasn't really a nice place to be every night. Also the first 3 weeks i worked without a day off, and then i got a weekend off finally and realized how nice it was to get time off. After a while the job got old though, and the money wasn't enough to equal all the crap that was happening, so i quit. I made about 600$ and when i finally stopped working i realized just how fast you can go through the money you earn when you don't have a job.

well im a student but i still work 9 till 5...kinda

my day starts at 8:30, and finishes at 5:30, my college does this whole piolt timetable where we have long timetables, and as a result, i cant get a job as most places want me to work during my college hours, and not many ppl are hiring due to the credit crunch

I'm a receptionist at a medical college in downtown.
The days go by really fast, so it's not bad!

I got the job through my sister in law. If she didn't hook me up, I probably wouldn't be working there, because I don't speak Spanish. ;____;
You NEEEEEEED to speak spanish to get a job. X___x

The only thing I don't like are the hours. I'd prefer to wake up EXTREMELY early every day and get out of work early. I work from 7:30am to 4:00pm three days out of the week, and the other two days, I work from 11:00am to 8:00pm.

On my early days I have to wake up at 5am, and the traffic is soooo bad at 4pm, that it takes almost three hours to get home. O_O

I like dealing with people...but I prefer a non-confrontational crowd. And I don't get that at my current job. X___x
I get a lot of students that come in and threaten me, and scream at me, and complain about their sick babies, and their financial aid problems. I usually get screamed at because I'm the first person they see when they walk in. X___x

I'm not very good in situations like that. I'd prefer to communicate via a fun game of pictionary or sharing candy. lol. ^.^

My last job was with my dad's restoration company in New Orleans. It was a teeny weeny business, but it made us some money, and we were helping people rebuild. <3
Then before that, I worked at a flower shop in Arkansas. And before that, I worked at Hot Topic. o_O

I think I'd prefer to work at a book store, like Barnes & Noble or Borders. I'm a book fiend. O_O

Administrator for sectoral government, and have been for the past year and 4 months. It's a very challenging job, both creatively and emotionally - which could be reason enough in itself as to why I'm still there. There's frequent deadline to meet, the stress is overwhelming, and we get a lot of irksome individuals calling in with complaints as to why their organisation didn't get funded by us (the department within which I work), also coming in to reception and demanding a face-to-face explanation (we don't have security, so at least two of us have to go down at any one time to deal with such people) for their refusals etc. There's a lot of finance stuff involved too (paying out sums of money to those who applied successfully), which for whatever reason I enjoy doing... and I hated math in school. :wacky: Though due to the sheer quantity, having to schedule a full day to prepare invoices is pretty depressing.

Overall however, it's very rewarding. I'm gaining tonnes of experience in the field, I'm gaining an insight into various related roles (managerial for example), and my CV is starting to fill out nicely. The people in my team are also fantastic company, and more often than not we're laughing about something horribly crude and explicit.

In a past life (as I like to refer it), I was a sales assistant who willingly served under-age spotty little shits alcohol and cigarettes. Got fired from that one for being too unenthusiastic and obnoxious. :wacky:

-Threads Merged-

Currently jobless at the moment, but I might work at Disneyland but that's absolutely a last resort. I would hate to work there, but I can get in easy since my sister-in-law has connections there. I really want an office job more than anything, so we'll see what happens next month.

[Mod Edit: I KNEW I'd seen one somewhere before but couldn't tell by looking at the titles alone. Cheers for finding this. xD - Dave]

I'm currently Jobless, the only long term job I had was at Pizza hut for about 2 and a half years. I did a little bit of work in hospitality a few weeks ago catering for a wedding, but that was only a one time thing. A friend of mine is trying to set me up with a job helping troubled teens, apparently it can get a little dramatic at times but the pay is awesome and you can have very flexible hours so hopefully I can get the job.

I am currently unemployed but I have been trying to find a job for the past couple of months but none of the places I had applied for have bother to call me back and it's frustrating because I would really like to work and have my life back to what it use to be but I can't if these places have no interest in hiring people when they need people.

I work in a part time job in a shop to get me through school. It's tiring, especially during the early morning and late night shifts. Still, all the people there are kind, supportive and witty, and meeting the staff and customers is fun and interesting. It just sometimes gets a bit annoying.

I've had a lot of jobs since I started working.

My first job was at Gentle Dental as a receptionist. I didn't really do receptionist work, all I basically did was clean, and maybe filed some papers. It was an alright job, but it got really boring after a while.

My second job was at McDonalds. I has just moved to New York City and this was the only job that hired me. NYC is a really hard place to find a job, especially if you're a college student with not a lot of experience. But I always hated working at McDonalds.

My third job was working at Hollister. It's a clothing store located in most malls. I think it's owned by Abercrombie and Fitch. It was ok working there, except that the employees are so mean. They tell us we're not supposed to help or try not to come into contact with people who we don't think look good in the clothes we sell. Well, I wasn't one of those, I helped everyone because I don't think I could ever be that mean.

My fourth job was working at American Eagle Outfitters. I didn't last there very long. It was a horrible place to work at, my employer was the biggest bitch there is, and their clothes weren't all that great. Who pays $90 for a pair of jeans with holes in it? Not to mention that after you wash them, it wears the holes down so they rip more. Yeah, thats what I like to help people spend their money on.

My 5th job was working as a bartender at a popular bar in western Michigan. That was probably the most well paid job I've ever had. I think the most I ever made was $2000 in one night in tips alone. One thing I hated about it were all the creepy guys that hit on me or the drunks and the drama of putting up with drunks.

My 6th and 7th jobs I worked at the same time. My 6th job I was a junior instructing assistant for the police academy. I also did other work for police officers like filing paperwork, assiting in the court building, small stuff like that. But I was mostly in charge of grading papers, changing the targets at the range and stuff like that. My 7th job was a waitress at a Chinese restaurant.

I'm working 2 jobs right now, so they would be considered my 8th and 9th jobs. Right now I'm working at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center as a transporter. I transport patients from surgery to their rooms, or vice verca. I also take blood, and put in IVs. My other job is I'm a General Merchandise Clerk at Meijer. Like Suki's first post, Meijer is a horrible place to work, and I can't wait till my 90 days are up so I can transfer to their pharmacy and be a Pharmacy Technician.

Well I used to work at a small office where I was completing Cert III in Business Administration through a School Based Traineeship for 2 years from the age of 15-17. 2003-2005.

That was the most horrible job ever. I had the worst boss and because it was sole-owned by her I had no one to really go to in order to complain. But I finished up my certificate and left right after.

Then 2 months later after my year 12 holidays I began working at a well known clothing store. I have now been there for 3 years in February and it was okay at first but it's gotten to be such a repetitive exhausting job that sometimes I feel like a robot. I'm a cashier / storeman / supervisor / operator / stock-keeper. It's disgusting the amount of work I do for the pay I recieve in the end. It's not worth it at all.

Therefore I have applied for a Dental Assistant position and a Trainee Pathology (Speciman Collector) position through a couple of well known companies.

*crosses fingers*

I'm still a student, plus my seriously oversized National Examinations next year, I've much to worry about...! Sigh.

After the examinations, i might take up a part-time job to give myself something to do other than sapping electricity back at home.

I'm still a student FULL TIME!
Still studying really hard. Busy, busy, busy... you know what I mean right?
I'm going to be a college freshman next year in July. The tests results are going out very soon. This January apparently. CAN'T WAIT! XD

Sigh, to think I'll be saying what you, Fall Out Boy, are saying right now next year. Will be a Freshman next year in a new school too. I'm worried to leave my friends though, going to try and spend the best of times with them this year, amidst the tension of the National Examinations. Sigh.
