Fan Fiction Dissidia 012 Discussion

so no desperado limit break? :( but im looking forward to playing as him

*snickers* I wonder if Squall and Tidus will bond over their mutual daddy issues now :8F:

Most likely. Since, both have daddeh issues, both show their emotions, so they should bond over it xD

Let's watch the one-liners here, guys.

---

Oh wow, I so wasn't expecting Laguna... I mean, I figured we'd get Rinoa, or some sort of villain. I'm especially surprised at Laguna's age, since he seems to be about the age he was in Winhil... how odd. Can't wait to see Squall and Laguan reacting :ryan:

As for the RPG mode, do you mean command mode, Terra? I remember using that once.. and hating it.

also, world map! :cheer:

I'm not sure what it was :P I remember switching to it to test it and it made the battle system change to an RPG mode...

Laguna's a perfect pick! The translated scan says he acts like a big brother to everyone xD I love my Laguna! :hugshimtillhedies

I don't know about you guys but I think the next character that would likely be reveal is Edgar. The reason why I say this is because of the Drill, Chainsaw and the Auto Crossbow machinery equipments. The only way I can think of why Laguna got confirmed is not just because of his connection with Squall but also because of "Man with the Machine Gun" song. Think about it for a secound, Kain Highwind's weapons appears on Dissidia Final Fantasy as well as Tifa's. So if my calculation are correct then that means that Edgar and Seymour will likely to appear in Dissidia Duodecim.

There has been already 5 cosmos characters confirmed Kain Highwind, Lightning, Tifa Lockhart and Laguna Loire. According to Nomura there will be about 4-10 new characters in Dissidia Duodecim. That leaves us with 5 characters left to be announced, which 3 out of those 5 will probably be chaos characters. This is just my personal thoughts about it, who knows maybe it will turn out differently.

Hmmm...I can understand that logic with the weapons, but I'm just hard pressed to see more Cosmos warriors now. I think that if the absolute max is going to be 10 new characters, with 5 already being revealed as Cosmos, it just make sense for the rest to be Chaos warriors.

Then again, I can think of more protagonists I'd like in the game than antagonists/anti-heroes, so there doesn't have to be a formula they'll follow :P

Laguna honestly just came out of left field for me, even with the "Man with the Machine Gun" theme. I never expected him, but maybe with "Battle on the Big Bridge" already in the game, it may give hope for Gilgamesh to make an appearance then..?

Although which game version he'll appear as, I dunno...

Actually, back on Laguna for a sec, you guys think Squall will acknowledge him as his father? Since this is young Laguna, odds are from the time and space he got pulled from, Squall isn't born yet, so it would make sense for him not to know Squall, but maybe Squall knows about Laguna..?

I thought of the same thing. 5 Cosmos characters and 5 chaos characters sound like a good choice to me. I'm not sure if that's what Square Enix is planning to do but I think it will be a great idea to have both sides equally. Gilgamesh will be most likely to appear in Dissidia Duodecim, same goes for Seymour. As for when are they going to be announced is another story. Square Enix announced Cloud and Gabranth last before the release date of Dissidia Final Fantasy. They might do the same thing with Dissidia Duodecim. If they choose to reveal some new characters 2 weeks or so before it's release date, then Gilgamesh will likely be one of them.

As for the Squall knowing Laguna, I don't think that will happend. Who knows, it might happen, it might not. We will find out about it on December 14th.

^ December 14th? What's happening then? I know there's that Jump Festa conference thingy, but that's on the 18th I think :hmmm:

But answers would be nice. No, seriously, please, I want answers :ness:

It's funny-I keep saying how I don't care all that much about the story in Dissida, but it's one of the main things I can't but wonder about for Duodecim xD

Next week we should have some new scans and information about Laguna from Famitsu. According to IGN's previous article, it says that a new character will be revealed on the 14th. We might see Squall and Ultimecia's 3rd Costumes, as well as some information about the new world map and maybe a new stage.

By that logic, we can expect to see Wakka make an appearance simply due to the fact that Tidus uses his weapons instead of his own as exclusives.
To be perfectly honest, I don't buy it (Edgar being in and all). I think that they're gonna keep up the monthly updates until release time and that we might see one more cosmos character and, in the end, an imbalance of cosmos/chaos people - possibly even throwing some in who blur the lines, like Gilgamesh and Kain. Seriously, which side do you put Kain on? I'd be hesitant to put him on Cosmos' side because he spent the better part of half his game with the Big Bad, but I wouldn't put him in with Chaos either because he does wind up breaking his bonds of servitude and resisting at the last. Besides, I think I read somewhere that it's been said that there will not be an even split between Cosmos and Chaos.
I expect to see a villain from FFXI come in (even though I would prefer that tle less said about FFXI, the better) but apart from that, I don't know what to expect. Maybe Gilgamesh will make an appearance, maybe we'll get random monster encounters in the field that reflect various famous creatures (Tonberries are slow and rely on counter/HP moves, Chocobos are flighty and hit hard when provoked etc.), but at this point I've seen enough thoughts get blown out of the weeds to have truly lost all sense of what's going to happen.

And you know what? I'm cool with that.

P.S The translated article they put up in the news area had a couple of sections still untranslated, in particular the blue "explosion" in the bottom left. I managed to knock together a rough meaning of the message, and it's intriguing - apparently there's something going to happen (something about a big explanation or demonstration - with proof, no less!) on the 18th. Something about a Tutor and a mysterious second departure (maybe - this was the most difficult to translate, so I may have it wrong.)
Just something to look at while we're waiting for the next update.

EDIT: Just read about the "Jump Festa thingy" and it might be related to that. I'd keep my eye out for a few developments in the next week or so.

That's what I'm thinking. It can't be another ninja/thief, I think that only leaves Edgar/Sabin or Celes, unless they won't add another FF6 character.

Seymour might be added, but isn't Jecht the villain for it? I don't think they'll be adding two villains... :hmm

Well according to what The Emperor said in Dissidia Final Fantasy, Jecth was a cosmos warrior. So he might be in the cosmos side in Dissidia Duodecim. That's why I say that Seymour might be added as one of Chaos character. Remember this is a prequel so the event that is going to happend in Duodecim is before Dissidia Final Fantasy. The 13th war was in Dissidia Final Fantasy, now we are going to experince the 12th war in Duodecim.

Oh yea, Jecht was a Cosmos warrior xD

Hm, in that case, if X still has a chance to be one of the last games to get an extra, then it has a high chance of Seymour. :P

Hmm well Jecht was a Cosmos warrior in a previous cycle not specifically this one. Maybe better luck in Dissidia 011 or Dissidia 010. (You gotta admit, SE set up this kinda story to have a reason to waste time on more and more Dissidia sequels).

Laguna was, like previously stated, ...a very random choice. I hope they add more villains to even things out. (IDK why I feel villainous.)

Ohh well, they're getting ideas of Sazh and Gilgamesh.

I'd still want Seifer over Quistis, and Auron over Yuna :mokken:

I wonder how Laguna will work out...If he uses his gun for all his attacks, how would it differentiate between Brave and HP attacks? At least the magic users had different spells-unless Laguna is gonna have para-magic like Squall... :hmmm:

From what I heard, Laguna can shoot for a period of time by holding down a button just like Ultimecia's projectiles. The only difference is that he can move while doing it. Also I heard that some game mechanics has been changed, like the wall rush damage percentage has been decreased, Ground/Air Dodges have a slightly longer cool down, the critical damage percentage has been drop down to 20% and some other stuff. Also it mention that there is going to be a new dash move. It's called the Ground Dash which it will allow you to perform ground attack while dashing as well as ground dodges. You can also freely change directions during the dash.
