Dissidia Character Discussion Thread

I never really cared at all for using Firion before, but I've gotten using him more lately and do quite well with him, got him up to Rank SSS. :D

I like how his ground bravery attacks can all go into that Double Trouble HP attack, and Shield Bash is also really useful, as Weaponmaster is a tough to defend against attack, but not too tough to dodge unfortunately...

His EX Burst is pretty nice too, love all the hits it lands, how fast paced it is, and the sound effects are pretty good too, maybe oddly nostalgic? :wacky:

I used this guy(Firion) for a while he hit level 54 and I moved on..............a boring character with no substance, he dies well though and his dream is pathetic. So I finally achieved all the weapon unlocks I had planned a year after I purchased the game and its still entertaining.......that really says it all IMO.

Proof S=E still knows how to do it.............even if they had go back instead of forward?

Take it however you will. :/ And I did think Firion was a crappy character at first myself, but while yes, his dream, as Cloud best puts it 'sounds so...childlike.' I also like his one other comment on it; 'Maybe he wished it on a star.' xD

I got Firion up to Level 100, but just recently. Firion won't seem very effective if you don't behave in battle befitting of the Tactician style, you need to fight strategically with him, then you can do really well. That's something I like about their character too; tests your own skill level.

If you can't maximize the effectiveness of his move pool then he won't seem very good, but if used right he can, on the contrary, be quite effective. I was able to get him up to Rank SSS, right? :P

Came up time and time again as the under dog, huge thing is his EX Burst, and any HP attacks while he is in EX Mode, will recover HP equal to the damage dealt. :ryan:

I only really give creed to the Chaos Minions of the first 5 FF games, apart from WOL, the rest just annoy me and I don't like them. First of all Bartz and Firion have no real style IMO
.......just pick a weapon!. And Onion Knight belongs in 1 place only next to Lulu in FFX.

What about this for who ever reads this next: Equipped weapons on Dissidia should have been graphically visible........like when cloud equips the Raknarok(greatsword) it looked like his Ragnarok sword from FFVII, or if Squall has the Lionheart equipped its visible and the true limit of the weapon is only achieved in EX-Mode?

I just used the battle lv 100 trick to level everyone up. Then I used the chaos AP trick. Totally legit. But It allows me to gain full potential and understanding of everyone.

Have you really played FFV and II?

In FFV (from what I've seen, haven't played it myself), you were able to choose any class/job for your characters throughout the game. And different jobs means different weapons, right? I'm guessing it was supposed to show just how good Bartz really is, gaining mastery over all jobs and all. Being able to use Holy and then surprise the enemy with knife attacks. Didn't bother me a bit.

As for Firion (and yes, I did play and pass FFII, several times) the reason he has eight kinds of weapons is because you can gain mastery over any weapon in the game. Also, each of his friends always come with a weapon when joining the party. Firion had swords and shields (Swordslash, Shield Bash), Maria had bows (Straightarrow, Lance Combo), Guy had axes (Reel Axe), Minwu had staves (Fire, Blizzard, Thunder), Josef used his bare hands (tackle after Rope Knife), Leila used knives (Rope knife), and Gordon used spears (Lance Combo).

SE made these guys like these because it's the way they fought in their respective universe. Dissidia is a fighting game, after all. How are these guys supposed to fight if they couldn't used the aforementioned methods?

I like anyone with HP attacks branching from BP attacks. To me they introduce a new type of spam. WoL, Firion, Onion Knight, Golbez, Bartz, Terra, Cloud, Zidane and Tidus.

Characters

I have alot of favorit characters, some are cloud, squall, zidane and tidus(zidane looks way better in this game then he did in his original game).Honestly, I really only hate one character, Exdeath. He sucks

I dont really know much about FFI-V and after playing FFVI I think the earlier games wont interest me in the slightest and have know great desire to play these games in the future.

My bitch about there not having a particular weapon, is just a personnel thing and I thinks its........IDK......I suppose fighting styles that involve many weapons types(firion) or swithcing weapons(Barts) have there fans but I'm not one of them.

Like I said only evil had an influence on me from the earlier FF games, The Chaos Minions added to Dissidia a great selection of foes to fight.

I have only had the game a few months and have only managed to get cloud to lvl 100 as I cant be bothered with leveling anyone else...
Did anyone else use the Exdeath grinding method to level their characters?
That involves you setting Exdeath to the opponent and the max level possible when compared to yours and then dodging and attack his hp only which provides you with little xp until you defeat him?

Other than that I am going to restart my game and try and see how quickly I can master every character etc.

Although I am probably going to start with either Cloud or Tidus as they both have good hp attacks.

Ah, I get it. Only a personal thing. I guess not everyone likes those two, no matter what. Like Warrior of Light once said, "I'm afraid I have misjudged you."

Chaos' side did have some interesting characters. I managed to bring Kuja and Golbez to Lv 100, and I think the next guy would be The Emperor, him being at Lv 60ish and whatnot. I was even impressed with Sephiroth. I know he is regarded as "OMGZ, DA BEST VILLAIN EVA!" (which turned me away from FFVII for quite a while), but still, I'm impressed. The only villain I haven't played as is Cloud of Darkness. I just find her tentacle attacks annoying.

I find her tentacle attacks quite godly at times :ryan:

Gabranth is better for levelling tbh, he can't counter and kill you in 1 second flat :hmmm: and his EX mode attacks are relativewly simple to dodge (the HP ones anyway)

I really like Firion but I don't like Bartz. With Firion you at least have a variety of different weapons, whilst with Bartz you have like 20 different swords and that's about it. Could've been nicer to give him more original moves other than Goblin Punch (maybe other blue magics like Aqua Breath or lv.? magic).

The only villains I use regularly are Emperor and Kuja at the moment, but I'm hoping to get better with Ultimecia. She's always annoyed me as an opponent.

For easy levelling up (i.e. for the characters I don't like) I fight either ExDeath or Emperor; Exdeath for being rubbish and Emperor for his reboundable dodgy blue Flare. I always try to let them Brave Break first and then use Magic Pot.

I prefer playing as the villains, personally. I feel their playstyles are more diverse compared to the heroes in a way. I know that all the heroes all play quite differently, however most of them are physically based. That said, I do like playing as Squall and Bartz.

Cloud of Darkness is pretty awesome, and I also really enjoy playing as Ultimecia. Continual harassment is win.

Cloud,Sephy, and Squall r my favorite in the game mostly sephy since he is the only 1 i can kill a lvl 100 in 20 secs^_^

Best Character: Cloud

Fave Characters: Cloud, Tidus (when you know how to use him properly) and Zidane. Squall's pretty good too.

I can't stand Firion. His attacks are so easy to dodge. Such a pain. Cecil was really good

As far as Villains go, I've only used Sephy, and he's very good once you learn the best tactics

Sorry, as Villains go, I go with COD and Kef.

COD- O-beam is just too good to ignore and with EXP to EX Force, it makes life easier.
Kefka- So many Hide and Seek tactics to take up....

I like all the heroes to play with. And the villains are all great to but I never use Ultimecia and Kuja. I don't like them, I don't know why :P First I never used Kefka but now I like him :D

the three and the only,

Cloud
Cloud is awsome and I realy like those huge slamming attacks!
He is awsome also because his story is awsome.

Sephiroth
Sephiroth is awsome to me cuz his katana is magical and thats what i like the most in games, not real blood and punches, but the: boooom, Slaaaaaash, TRCHHHHH, Slam!!!!!!!!

WARRIOR OF LIGHT
He has been awsome from the day he stepped in the world of videogames. Love his armor outfit.
