do you like how you have more freedom to choose where you want to go and which missions to take as oppose to following a linear storyline. you can even control what ending you have but do you like that or would you prefer a generic set ending for every playthrough?

Well it's not necessarily freedom, yuo still have to do the missions, but i didn't like X-2 very much. Just the way they set it up, it just makes me hate it, they left a lot of things left undiscovered. I wouldn't ever picture Yuna and Rikku as sphere hunters either but thats just just way SE made it. So i would prefer the generic ending.

Well, it's definitely a different way of doing things for an FF game, and judging from the negative views that X-2 often gets it would seem wise to assume that most people don't prefer this way of doing things. Personally I don't really like or dislike this method of doing things more, it's simply a different way of doing things. Of course the fact that there are so many optional parts in the game means that the story can end up a little disjointed and therefore not as strong as they generally are in FF games.

Everyone thought that X-2 was going to be the game where Tidus' and Yuna's love story would finally be complete, well that's what i personally thought, thats why i bought it, then when i started playing it, i was like WTF! Then later to find out there were some spheres with Tidus (i think) on them, but that was it.

It's fun and all, but it bugged me that if you missed a few things, you lose a lot of the great story of final fantasy. It makes you kind of paranoid, always wondering if you just missed anything.

It felt like too much freedom had been given. The story often felt as if they'd thrown in any old piece of rubbish to make something just be there. Less freedom would have been better. Albeit, some obviously is good, but this just felt too much.

I disliked it. There was nothing to like, earn by playing the game if you could travel to all the locations straight away. And, it made the structure of the story very disjointed. Like Lisa said, this was just too much freedom.

I hated having so much freedom, I think I like my hand being held at first to get me into the flow of the game, but if everything is available all at once, I dont know what to do with myself. I think I just sat there and flapped for about 5 minutes when I first started playing X-2. I was like oooh, should I go here? Nowait, l #go there..and then Im like....if I go here will I miss stuff or fuck part of the story up for myself, miss the chance of getting the most out of the game for myself etc etc

So no, I dun like it :wacky:

not really I mean way too much freedom for the start of the game like where's the fun in that it would be fun to unlock the places yourself I mean like my nose would be forever bleeding due to the to much thinking on where to go XD

I liked it. I liked the fact that there was a choice...

But I wanted to see everywhere, cos I played this before I played FFX for some reason- I think it was cheap hehe

Yeah There was to much freedom is Was wierd Going to Mt gagezet right at the start of the game It should have had the same Format as FF10 Transport and freedom come later On in the game. Seeing The Locations again as the game progressed would have been more Enjoyable Not Having the choice of choosing any location from the beginning >.<

To be honest I didn't like having so much freedom either. What really annoyed me was that doing the optional stuff made the main story ridiculously easy and not doing the optional stuff made me feel like I was missing out on something. The fact that so much optional stuff was available at the beginning meant that it was possible to get too powerful too quickly which made the game too boring. :wacky:

I don't know about that- in the first chapter I went absolutely everywhere yet I still found it very difficult levelling up...

But I can't help thinking that my opinion would be different had I played FFX first- X2 was only the second FF game I played. I think if I had played FFX first I wouldn't have wanted the freedom to begin with because of the way that FFX is played...

No, because the whole freedom of the game + the percentage and the Perfect Ending made some people forward slash me obsess over getting absolutely everything right.

I played it with a strategy guide and also before I have even heard of FFX. There wasn't much freedom in the stragtegy guide, they made it pretty clear where you were supposed to go. So yeah I enjoyed it... even though I didn't know what was going on half the time.

I can't quite make my mind up on FFX-2. On the one hand, a lot of people would have been familiar with all the locations from FFX, so being able to go check them all out right away might have been cool for some people. On the other hand, I think it might have all seemded a little overwhelming to the minority of players who weren't familiar with Spira.

Personally, I would have liked to see the first 2/3 hours of gameplay be very linear. It helps you settle into the game a bit better, and like I say, it wouldn't be quite as overhwelming.

I did like having the freedom in the beginning but at the same time I didn't. I would have much rathered a set out story in which you HAVE to go to certain places at certain times. But I found it easier to level up for some reason, I would just go everywhere at the start of the game and level everybody up. But it would have been nice like all the other final fantasy games if you had to travel from one place to the other and then get the ability to go whenever you want like 3/4 through.

I liked the idea of having freedom but really wound up not having any freedom at all. Having that constant way of judging where you are at via the completion % number made me feel like I had to go and do absolutely everything. I felt as if I wouldn't feel satisfied getting to the end of the game with a completion percentage of anything less that 100 and as a result I've never actually finished the game (am currently playing through again).

Problem is to get 100% there are many small things you have to do that could easily go unnoticed so I constantly find myself refering to the strategy guide, which limits my enjoyment of the game. The battle system within the game is fantastic and enjoyable but it could have been so much more without feeling like you have to go everywhere and talk to every single person to avoid missing something.

I absolutely loved choosing where I wanted to go first. It really helps you make the story yourself if that makes any sense. Don't get me wrong, I do like the traditional games where you have to go to certain places, and then receive an airship or something and then you could go anywhere you want....but this was different. And in my opinion different is a good thing. It was new and I actually liked it.
