We'll see about the plot. I'm not sure how much you guys followed the devlepment of Final Fantasy XII but there were a lot of problems. Matsuno was the guy who was behind its writing and development... but he was having serious issues due to the size and importance of the game. He really tried to get everything in there but kept having health issues arise stemming from too much stress. :/ This article does a good job of reviewing some of the problems that arose.
I knew, even before reading this article, just upon playing the game, that the story wasn't fully emphasized. Just by playing FFXII, you can tell that the directors didn't add everything that was intended to be in the game.
FFXII could have been spectacular, but the character interaction was too dull, and the storyline jumped around too hastefully...
From the looks of it, Matsuno was working backwards...he masterfully pieced together 80+ hours of sidequest options and Esper recruitments, but he failed to complete the plot summary.
One more thing.
Graphics has nothing to do with the greatness of a game, for those of you who are indicating how stoked you are for the matter...
FFXIII has great graphics, but...look at the protagonist in the trailers...she's laura croft with pink hair...
I think the PS3's capabilities has gotten to their heads...
