Does God punish masturbation?

Alright, let me explain to you and the Amazing Atheist about masturbation and how the Church sees it.
It's easy to go after independent institutions or all those hill churches out in the Bible Belt, but you don't see a lot of people going after the actual church because it is a lot more substantial and universal.
This would include Dawkins and all the 'super atheists' as well. Walk into a Catholic church and you're not going to fare as well.
The Church sees masturbation as a venial sin, meaning excusable- under the pretenses that the urge is strong enough that it becomes necessary to one's health. The Church sees it as a product of Original Sin, in which the body has urges that can be very difficult to avoid.
This falls under the same things such as overeating, which like masturbation being a product of lust, is a product of gluttony.
All sins are tapped from cardinal vices, with those being two of them, but that's sort of moot. The point is that atheists go after this subject like it's actually something God will send you to Hell for, and that's not really true.
However, recreational masturbation- doing it frequently for the sake of pleasure, can become a mortal sin, or a sin that can make you subject to potential judgement.
And that's just a plain, unavoidable truth about Christianity, that is how the Abrahamic God works- He cannot justify willful sin, it is what makes Him a perfect God. Therefore, a Christian cannot rightfully call masturbation kosher. If one doesn't agree with this, then try Buddhism.
