The DS is definately better in my books. When tehy first came out i was saving to get a psp, but on a whim i bought a ds instead....and OMG was i happy with that choice.

Haha, I'm not much of a handheld kind of guy. But I opted for the PSP. The ironic part is that I was not looking for a handheld gaming console when I bought the thing. I wanted to price out those mp3/video player combos at Best Buy and al of the ones worth getting were $200 or more. The PSP is only $150 right now, has all of their capability plus it plays games. Sure, you buy the memory seperately in the form of those SD cards, it doesn't have a little onboard harddrive. But since we sell the PSP at Target (my job) I also got en employee discount and that made up the difference in price for adding in a SD card to the transaction. It was only after the fact that I realized you can also connect it to your wireless network and bust down some internet browsing, even if it's little browser is horrendous in both it's page loading and interface.

But I think that consumers like me are what will give PSP its edge in sales. It's pretty much also a damn movie and mp3 player, your all-around general multimedia device and even someone like me who didn't really buy it for gaming will have a reason to purchase one.

I can tell you its games are utter crap though. Aside from FF1 and FF2, which even though I ended up buying FF1 I easily could have downloaded that for an emulator or played the remakes they released for ps1...aside from those final fantasy re-hashes there really isn't jack shit for games on the PSP I'm liking. The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion seems promising. I was kind of hoping for a drastic, and I mean it would have to be a drastic scaling down of the Xbox360 version if it were to be ported over, but I'm hearing it's really just going to be some offshoot of Oblivion that you're finding on cell phones and shit. Oblivion: Travels or something rediculous like that.

I would have to say the Nintendo DS is better. It is cheaper and plus I believe it has a better selection of games to purchase. The PSP seems pretty cool as though but it has never really interested me. I think the Nintendo DS is a really great little hand held console. I know a heap of people who bought a DS over the PSP so that must mean something! I don't want to fork out over $300 for a hand held console. The DS was a lot cheaper than it for me.

DS all the way. :)

Haha, the PSP is $150 now, at least for its base package. Much cheaper, for me it's just a glorified mp3/video player that was $100 cheaper than most of the other mp3/video players Best Buy was selling. But yeah, when the PSP first came out $300 was definitely a crap price.

It all comes down to what games you like. I have both and play them a lot. I did have more games for PSP but should now be around even in number now. One thing I like about PSP is that if the battery dies whilst playing, when it's charged, you'll play exactly where you were when the battery died....DS doesn't do this. Once the battery has gone, you'll have to play back at your last save. The ability to play GBA games is wasted on me as I have a GBA SP and my old GBA too. Like I said, it all depends on what games you want.

Oh psp all the way. If you don't like the games for psp then get custom firmware and play nearly every game on nearly every platform.
So that means you can play ff7 or you ol megadrive games. Thats something you can't do on a ds. And you can also play movies music and store pics and even go on internet. And online mode as well :)

With experience from both, I favour the PSP, but only my a small fraction.

PSP
  • At last! A handheld where I can play FFVI, VII and IX (VIII has errors). So that requires hacking, but mine went well!
  • I can play Chono Cross on it! It was never released here.
  • There's more to do on a long journey.
  • Tekken, PowerStone and Tales of Eternia are just superb.
  • Watching movies is good. The battery lasts far longer than a DVD player and the screen isn't actually that small in my opinion.
  • It's an mp3 player.
  • You don't have to buy the movies if you have a memory stick
  • The screen is brighter.
  • Battery duration.
  • I have difficulty finding many good games but being able to put PS1 games on it makes up for that.
  • The analogue stick almost feels unnecessary.
D.S
  • Phoenix Wright is just superb! I also enjoy Mario Kart.

  • The touch screens do add to the fun.
  • You can play GBA games on it.
  • Battery lasts a little longer.
  • Picto Chat! Has helped my ex-boyfriend and I communicate late at night.
  • Controls can be annoying.
  • You can't play GBC games!

  • So I'm meant to buy a DS Lite to have a decent screen? What a gimmick. I spent the FULL price on the original. I'm not giving nintendo MORE just 'cause they want me to.

Yes, but it's also ILLEGAL too. That's why they're made by hackers. I'd rather just own games legally on their respective systems.

As i said, it all depends of the games you want. I have both because of the type of games available for them. Both have their flaws as well as the good points.

I think they both have their perks actually. I wouldn't say that either of them necessarily have any obvious flaws; they're both really fun systems. I've had my PSP for about a year now, and my DS for almost the same amount of time, and I've played them both; one just as much as the other.

The only problem that I ran into was finding good games for both of them. Of course when the PSP came out, all I could really find were remakes of old games, and...even today, I still buy more GBA games for my DS than actual DS games. From the look of things though, a lot more games are going to be coming out for both of them rather soon.

PSP is said to be releasing games like Crisis Core, Dissidia, FF Tactics the Lions War...not to mention that you can chip your device (who gives a flying f*** if it's illegal). You can play any old games that you own with a chipped device. That's a really BIG perk if you ask me.
DS hasn't really shined for me yet in terms of good RPGs. It's a lot more hands on (lol they're both "hands on") in terms of gaming. As I said, I actually see myself buying more GBA games like the FF advances and remakes of old NES games for the DS at the moment. Hopefully it'll come out with a few RPGs in the future. ^__^

I'm currently playing Jeanne D'arc on the PSP, and Mario Party on the DS.

ill go for the PSP

PSP have access to mp3's (meh favorite...musicz)
and PSP have the FF games!
very handy for us FF lovers! we can play FF while on a trip

I think anyone who voted for the DS just doesnt undeerstand teh power of the PSP

I have a 2GB Memory Stick and i have all this on it

- All 3 Discs of Final Fantasy VII

http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/fi...see-12828.html

- A Megadrive Emulator with a a good 50 games
- A Super Nintendo Emulator with about 15 games
- A Nintendo Emulator With about 10 games
- A Gameboy Advanced Emulator with 5 games (im searching for more.)

Then theres all the normal features like:
- Music player with supports many formats.
- MP4. Video Player. (its ratehr easy to convert them to MP4. to)
- An Internet Browser
- And a Strong Selection of PSP games

Also themenu of the PSP is a better presentation than the DS and its a Much stronger console. So considering i have all that on a 2GB Memeory Stick i think its pretty damn good no?

The PSPs the perfect entertainment System, you just have to know how to handle it.
It's not that people don't understand "teh powah" of the PSP. Just because that the PSP can run emulators, it doesn't mean that everyone else is going to think it's better. Just because the PSP outranks the DS in terms of features doesn't mean that people will like it better.

Yes, PSP can install emulators on it, but how about what it cannot do?

Wi-Fi- I'm pretty sure even if you managed to put a DS emu on it, that it could not make a Wi-Fi connection.

Linking- If you have an emu on your PSP, you cannot link up with your friends. Components aren't compatible.

Once PSP can do Wi-Fi, THEN continue your foolhardy preaching. You also use the word perfect very lightly. Nothing in this world is perfect. :P

It's all a matter of personal preference though. ^__^
I'm not even sure what Wi-fi is though. =[

??

well i just think the PSP is winning?
i really think PSP is best than DS
although the DS has these cool 2 screens!

I think all we have to have is the one with FF games?

Wi-Fi is a special connection that the DS has so you can do stuff with people all over the world. Suchas: Trading pokemons, racing other players in Mariokart and sending mogmail in FFIII. So far that's all I know about it. :\

I read a little bit about it, and it seems like you have to use an adapter to attach the DS to your computer. I was hoping that it was wireless. =x

Well I am going to go and say the PSP, why well I think there is some better selection of games. Also using the stylus for alot of DS games is annoying, since half the stime it won't work right. Single anlog control stick yea slightly irritating but I can get over it. I have more GBA games for the DS then actual DS games. So I shall stick with the PSP.

I do not mind either to be honest, each one to me is good enough....though actually I do not play either that much actually....but probably play more PSP then DS so will go for PSP.
