Do you think this games summons are better or worse than its predecessors?

If not which game do you think had the best?

Which is your favorite in this game, and why?

I do like the fact that they fight along side of you...not like X where they fight and Yuna just sat there while the Aeon died.

FF XII it was pretty much the same as it is now, I like the system a little better in XIII than in XII. so yeah, I'd say 'for better'

I like this system a lot more from a gameplay standpoint. I get to fight along side them, and then ride em in some crazy form. It is lacking a sort of epicness from the past. The incredibly long summons, where the enemy would get sucked into space on a piece of land, get blown away by Bahamut, then some how return to the planet sometimes still living.
Now, I get to ride Bahamut hit them a few times then blast them away with the giant beam myself.

I thought the Eidolons were pretty useless. My team (almost?) did more damage than them. I used an Eidolon maybe 3 or 4 times in the entire game. They looked nice though.

I pefer the summoning system in X, then fight alongside them in XIII. Im not too keen on the gargue used, I keep ignoring it and just hitting buttons lolz.

I have only used Odin, Brynhildr and the Shiva sisters so far, so I can't fairly determine how capable Eidolons are as a whole in FFXIII. The times I have used them did not blow me away. Looking at the damage inflicted, I bet my party can certainly do more than that in the alloted time. There are things I like and dislike about this new summoning system.

I like the fact that they have two modes. They can fight alongside you (more effectively than FFXII's useless Espers) and in Gestalt form, you can do some analogue stick twisting and button pressing. I didn't like the gauge thing. It seemed too limiting. I would barely even have my Eidolon out there for more than a minute.

I miss the system in older FF games where you can summon anyone you want and they come with their own unique abilities that aren't just offensive-revolved. Cerberus and Phoenix for example were useful summons with well thought out abilities.

They certainly are not super powerful. I just think its fun. Although yesterday both times I used Bahamut he hit for around 50k with his final attack in Gastalt mode. So hes cool. Ive only used him, shiva, and odin.

They suck like they always have in every game, so I can't say that I really care.

X was pretty cool with summons... Until you got to a boss.

the eidolons here in FF XIII are just fine..
even though I dont use them a lot.. I will only summon an eidolon specially Bahamut if i need to finish a monster quickly.. like that Adamantoise and Long Gui.. even though my party can do more damage than them.. its still fun to use though specially the Gestalt Mode...

I think they all are about even I don't like any games over the other.

I just like how in XIII they added the gestalt form which is something new they brought to the table.

My favorite would have been Odin & Alexander but since they made him a wall that pounds the ground it kinda ruined it so I would have to go with just Odin.

Eidolons really are cool but useless in battles specially big battles the only good thing is that when you summon them the health of your team is replenished. But you really deal way more damage with your normal team than with a summon specially later in the game.

I like 7 over this game in terms of the summons. It seemed like the summons were something special, and it was fun to obtain all of them and increase their powers. Now it just seems like an auto ally. I dunno, I just like 7's better. It was fun getting the ultimate summon, and whooping ppls asses with it. I am definitely biased tho, 7 is my favorite all time game.

I actually really like the summons used in XIII. I do, like some have said like it better then X's cause your character fights along side with them. They can come in handy though which is why i like them. I think i've used every one's summon at least once :hmmm: Its hard to say who i like best as a summon cause they all have different abilities i guess. One time Odin saved me big time. I was about to die from Barthen--pope guy and I quickly went in GM and it missed xD i was lucky.

They also, (if you stagger them with your summon) automatically kills the enemy. For instance, When your Lightning and Odin, just by yourself (I think at the start of chapter 12) I just kept attacking staggered him, went into GM used his special and BAM it was gone. No damage sign or anything he just went poof.

Definately not the best summons in my opinion. I'm going to have to say the game with the best is X, since they actually did a very nice bit of damage when summoned. I liked that you could skip the summoning screen as well, which was something X's predecessors lacked. That made battles waaay to long and made me opt not to summon half the time.

Favorite summon from 13 so far though would have to be Bahumat. I haven't used all of the eidolons yet, but Bahumat has dealt the most damage out of the ones I have used. I was expecting Odin to be the best, but he hasn't really impressed me that much. I doubt any of the others will either.

I really do not like the way they have handled summoning in the last few games. (Though it was more tolerable in X) I just don't like having that much control over the summons because they seem so much weaker than they were in previous games where they would come out and do one super attack and then leave. It made them more mysterious and more powerful, even those that suck to use at the end of the game. XD

Now, you have to get rid of two characters for another character. I just find it annoying to control them tbh.

I found them really useless, They looked so cool! I have to say, The Shiva sisters did catch my eye. how they turn into a "motor" bike and all. Ah.. x)
I have to admit they were alot more better in FFX though, I liked how i could use them and have that overdrive and everything. Don't know, just something about it.
My favourite would have to be ODIN! Mainly because he looks cool and my favourite character is Lightning. She's so cool T_T

i have only unlocked Shiva and Odin and i think they are awesome. I havent had this much fun with Summons since FFX... i like the fact that you have control over them in their Gestalt mode. I have looked at the other ones and i cant wait till i get Alexander and Bahamut...

Do you think this games summons are better or worse than its predecessors? I think its "fun" or cute of the aeons to have gestalt forms but all in all I find them rather useless My favorite would have to be the summons in FFVIII I have no idea why Its probably because it was the first game I played of FF

My favorite summon would be Bahamut because he is simply the king ;)

I haven't played XIII yet, but FFVIII had my favourite Summons as well. There were a crapload of them, as well as a huge variety.

Sometimes they did take too long to use, but the animations were always great to watch.

They were also much more useful in FFVIII compared to its predecessors because of all the Junctioning possibilities that they each game with. I also liked being able to access them through the field menu.
