[FF8] Would you like to see a remake/spinoff to this game?

Or perhaps something that would give ultimecia a real background? That would be awsome independent of her being rinoa or not.

I will love a remake/spinoff/sequel to it, specially sequel, where the Great Hyne just come back to Earth.

I desperately want a remake to the game, but the only ones in my opinion that should be changed are the bettering of the graphics, added voice acting (NO HIRING HOLLYWOOD CELEBRITIES! If you get a familiar hollywood voice to one of the characters, that character may haunt you forever.), and a few tweaks of the characters' physiques. Squall in the original had super long legs that it makes him look more of an anime than a human. Rinoa could use just a tiny bit more thigh and arm girth (but just a very little bit! Not too much to where she'd look like Amy Lee from Evanescence, even though I love Amy Lee.). Same can be said about Quistis and Selphie. Adding a little bit of meat in the right areas can be sexy for them.

I wouldn't mind Square-Enix adding a little bit of extra scenes here and there, but they better not screw it up!

I also would like to make an exception to my rules by saying that Amy Lee would make a great voice-over for Quistis.

And last one. Don't shy away in making the male characters of the game be buff. They shouldn't be bodybuilder buff, but ripped. And with this in mind, the lower body should not be lagging. Don't make them look like this guy:

Eh, I'd kinda like a remake of the game. Newer graphics and voice acting voice acting would be nice- actually, maybe the voice acting....
I don't know, I've kinda formulated a voice in my head for Squall, Rinoa, ect. already.
No spin-off, though.

No spin-offs? Why not?

We, people of Final Fantasy Forums can be the writers of the extended storyline!

The what?

You know, the Great Hyne: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Great_Hyne
Hyne was probably a successful "Ultimecia" of the past (and Hyne is mentioned as "he", so that thing that only females can bear true/natural magic is just cultural bullshit), who knows :hmmm:

Oh my God. I can't believe I didn't know this. Why were you not with me during the earlier years of my life?!

It's been a while since I played the game but I thought Hyne was the first ever with magical power and that he created the first sorcoresses. I didn't think he was a sorcoror himself though, like Ultimecia, more like a god-thing, the most powerful being ever to haved lived.

Classics need to stay as classics, anything that SE touchs now turns out BS it doesnt matter wheter they let the script intact, im sure they will find how to mess it up (Like FF3 and FF4 remakes).

Let FF8 alone SE or im going to get really mad at you (more than i am).

How exactly have they screwed up in FF IV complete collection remake? Or FF III for psp for that matter.

FF3 (Im not covering FF4 because i hate the two versions original and remake) for psp/ds failed to capture the essence of FF3 because they decided to modernize the game they gave the characters VA and personality and with it died the classic feeling of the game. You might say that you love FF3 because you can finally relate with the characters but FF3 wasnt about character development was about 4 boys on an adventure (Think of the feelings conveyed on a Zelda game).

FF1 remake was great because it was the same experience that you had on the Nes, if they decided to make a remake of FF1 like they did with FF3 then i would had been annoyed because they modernized it just for the sake of atracting gamers with today standards wich instantly kills the essence of the game.

FF3 is good but failed in delivering the same premise of the original (Just enhanced graphics like FF1 would had been enough), so FF8 will suffer modernization too and as result they would fuck up FF8 just to meet today standards in gaming.

But the thing is.. FF8 character's are modern per se..They wouldnt really fuck it up because it is popular already. They did that to III to adress its faults! People complained about the game for some reasons and they corrected those.. I see nothing wrong with that. Of course there are some people(a minority in this subject) that prefer the original, but if that is the case stick with the original and ignore the remake. It is as simple as that.

I think this is insane.

Things change and things evolve. Take a look at the Dragon Ball Saga. Was it wrong to start from a monkey boy into becoming the most powerful being in the universe?

Liked. I cannot agree more.

Yeah and DQ has to add talkative MC so to appeal to modern gamers, i think that games has to evolve but there are some key elements that should stay as they define series. thats why i cry for the series that give up to their roots and identity just to appeal today gamers that are too lazy and like to be spoon feeded on everything and they dont want to use imagination. I cry for today gamers.

FF8 will never see a remake because it lacks popularity so this game is safe from modernization, yeah.

I suppose we can all agree that us, Final Fantasy fans, are a very unique breed of gamers.

YES! I would like this game to be REMADE! Because I don't think the creators did the best they could with FF8.

I don't dislike 8; I actually like it. It was playable, but probably only because it has FF slapped onto it. If it didn't, I don't know. And the way that I like 8 is that...because it was fun? Because it was childish and incomplete? I don't know how to explain it... Okay - I liked the game because it had this weird silliness to it, as well as the feel that the settings gave off, but the silliness of the game is also the reason why I believe they didn't do what FF8 had the potential to be.

The characters were too immature and they didn't really grow. Squall, Rinoa, and Quistis were also an exaggerated version of Cloud, Aeris, and Tifa in FF7; they were too similar to FF7's love triangle. Rinoa as the main heroine didn't really match; she was too pushy in a childish way. Quistis, on the other hand, was too mature. Though she is the same age or just a year older than Squall, she appeared to me in the game as an older woman looking after the party, especially because she is an instructor. They should have given her a different outfit and hairstyle to make her appear close to Squall in age, as well as different dialogue that still sounds mature because of her status, but also to show that she is still young like Squall. As Squall said in the game, it is weird for an instructor to be "close" to her pupil, even as the player watching them interact together, but also because of the things listed above that should change. No matter how I look at Quistis, I can't see her being younger than 30 or something.

Squall was fine as a character, but THAT OUTFIT - UGH...please...I don't know what they were thinking! Especially with his personality already "emo-ish", the fact that they gave him black, white, and red...just give him something normal that stands out with normal colors. Also, his romance with Rinoa definitely should have been given WAY MORE development. She gets sick and then all of a sudden he admits that he has feelings for her right away? It made no sense! Especially since we didn't see him forming anything for her except annoyance. Rinoa's pretty, but we still want to see HOW he started to develop feelings for her.

Zell and Selphie need outfit changes also. Oh, wait - Squall's weapon also needs to change. The gunblade, unless it is both a gun and a blade like Lightning's, doesn't make sense. And back to characters, the other characters should have gotten more development. I'm glad Zell had romance with a NP character, but I wish we could have seen more of that development, too.

Seifer's goal was kind of ridiculous to me. Was that the best they could do? I don't think so. I also didn't understand the whole "sorceress" plot thingy and I think it actually made the game quite boring. Why is the world relying on these? Or whatever?

The Laguna part was cool, but I don't think it should have taken up as much time as it did. I also don't think his sequence should have came in dreams, but more of like a play through while someone who knows of his story tells Squall about him. I also heard that it is uncertain how Squall responds to him as a father, that it is left hanging, and that is a very bad thing that should change.

Hmm...Balamb Garden also didn't make sense. Where were the practice rooms for the students' different fighting styles? Why, really, was that jungle-monster infested area left unattended or with NO GATE? Students actually have a secret hideout in such a dangerous place? There's a T-REX in there!!!! And why is there school secretly controlled by a yellow oglop in the basement? It's been a while since I've played 8, but I think even if I played it, it still wouldn't make sense to me.

The battle system - no drawing magic please! And why are we not allowed all of the commands in the battle menu? That's ridiculous. And "GF"? Really? Couldn't they have just used "gaurdian"? Or call it "summon"?

I don't know...a lot of the game was just ridiculous to me.

For what FF8 has as characters and some of its story, I think that it could have been a really GREAT FF, but it didn't use its potential. I feel like what we were given in the finale was a draft or the kiddy version of what could have been. Though it is a playful, sweet, and-in its own way-realistic game in the way it turned out, A LOT of things should have never made it to the finale and A LOT of more things should have been thought out more to have made this game a better FF title.

Yes, I think a short sequel would be nice! Maybe like an OVA or something. I think it is possible for the plot to progress a step further after seeing how the game ended.

Speaking of remake, I did a fanimation (fan+animation) of Squall vs Seifer. It's based off the intro basically. Lemme know what you guys think! C:

Wow that's really impressive. Best FF fanimation I've ever seen to be honest.

I say no to a remake but a spinoff game would be nice to develop the plot a bit more like they did with VII. I would just hope the spinoffs would actually be good. While I loved the plots to the 7 remakes the games were not too great themselves. So yea a spinoff done right would be wonderful!!

I would sell my soul to see an anime version of Final Fantasy VIII, as long as it was done well... which is always the sticking point. Then again, I'm just really keen on more Laguna because I'm horribly biased like that. lol Also, a revamped game would be fantastic, but I'd be so scared the makers would change it and stuff it up totally. Game wise, I'd just be thrilled if they re-released it and other older Final Fantasy every time a new console came out, so we never have to say goodbye to it.
