Love it!!
Loved the kupos! Loved the characters! Loved the storyline!! Just great!!
FF VII is pretty much up there with it though. The only reason I like IX better is probably because its the first one I eveer played, and it got me into the rest. Like a gateway FF lol. And cant forget about the card game inside the game itself. PERFECT!:vivi:

It's been my favorite ever since I played it, that is until I played XII then it became my SECOND favorite.

i think, that ff VII and ff VIII quite more interesting, because the game play is much better.... a lot of actions are available .. ff iX is good if i look at the storyline and the charakters... but for my own it is to short in the duration :(

This is probably ye least favorite so it just gets an alright from me.
I did love the characters.
And some of the minigames and side quests were great.
<3 mognet and chocobo digging.

But the battle system just seemed really really slow to me.
I seemed to wait forever after issueing a command before it was actually executed and it drove me crazy.
Also had a longer than normal black screen at the start of every random battle, followed by the camara spinning around your party members a few times.

you'd know from my avatar that my I'm a huge fan of FFIX.

it was a welcome tribute to the older FF's and I loved the simplicity of the game. I agree that the battle scenes were a bit slow but that was the only problem I had.

the main thing that attracted me was the characters; all different in terms of appearance, personality and fighting style. I thought the designing of the characters were great, and I was especially happy that they brought back the old-school black mage look for Vivi and the other mages.

there were some great scenes as well, like Garnet cutting her hair with the dagger, the Kuja trance, Bahamut attacking the queen and Vivi watching the terminated black mages fall off the airship; Vivi has no expression on his face, but you could feel his anger.

finally, in my opinion the music for the Hildagarde was the best airship theme ever made. the soundtrack was good overall, and Melodies of Life was a very suitable theme song.

I don't see why people didn't care for this one. Maybe it was the cartoon-ish animation, but I had a lot of fun playing this one. And Ozma was one of the hardest bosses I ever fought, once you get the technique down :)

Also, I liked the card game. I don't know anything about cards but I was walking away with winning hands regularly...sweet deal!

I dint like this game

I really dint like this game, it was far too slow and it wound me up to shit! why would u want a main character with A MONKEY TAIL?! only good thing was :vivi:

You didn't like IX:gasp:
Well then begone from this world! *casts ultima*
Just kidding Zell, luv ya. But if you say that you don't like it you have to go into more detail than that. Storyline, plot, actual gameplay, battle system, stuff like that.
Oh btw the mods are probably gonna merge this thread.

Some excellent reasoning there. (y)

My only problem with IX is that it was all a bit too easy. Necron was a massive let down for a final boss, especially after Ultimecia in VIII.
IX has probably the best ability system from any of the games so far, and I've always preferred the ATB to any of the other battle systems. Some of the characters are rather pointless story-wise (Amarant, Eiko and Quina) and aren't all that great in battle either, but you can ignore that.
The story was well planned out and well told for the whole game, and the game just plays really well and that's the most important thing.

I agree 100% here. The game was not a challenge at all to me. I went through the game and was done with it and it didn't take me long at all.
I also agree with ya on the characters-- some where just right down pointless story-wise but, the storyline of IX was fantastic I thought so, I really liked this game =]
And as you said, storyline is one of the most important--if not most important part of anygame.

I would venture to guess that those that grew up playing the FF installments on NES/SNES as their first exposure to FF probably liked FF IX moreso than those that joined the fold with VII or VIII. It was a throw-back after the dark story of VII and futuristic setting of VIII.

I mean - who that played the originals didn't crack a big smile going into Mount Gulug and hearing the same music that's played in the Earth Cave/Gurgu Volcano in FF I? I actually did a little dance......I made the booty drop....

I love ff9 so much wasnt the first one i played though that was 8 i think but 9 seemed so much funner(or maybe easier idk) but i just like the plotline and characters so much especially Ziddy and Kuja X3 Pervs and manthongs unite!!! XD

It's probably my favorite game in the series after FFII, but I do however have TWO major complaints that I feel really just bugged me.

1) The limit break system in this game really frustrated me. It's like you get into fights because you're trying to fill up your Trance gauge so you can kick some epic ass in a boss fight. And then just before you get to where you're about to fight the boss and you get into a random encounter and get hit by a freakin' bat and then you go into Trance mode. And the best part is when you don't even get to attack with the character.

2) The final boss fight really through me off. You're trying to defeat Cuja and then out of nowhere here comes...Necron? What the hell? "I am Necron! I have the skinniest waist ever because... I have no mid-section. I'm going to erase existence but before that I'm going to randomly quote Star Wars! Blagh hahahahahahahaaaa!" Seriously, was there any reference to him at ALL anywhere in the game because I do not remember.

definitely love it, one of my favourites, great cut-scenes(favourite has to be vivi vs black waltz 3)

like the 4 man parties,
collecting limit breaks is fun,
great battle music (the scene before amarant joins the party is the best, the music comes on leading his charge)

some characters were a lil ugly, e.g steiner with clown-like make up an zidane with puffy cheeks, but beautiful chars like garnet and beatrix to make up for it.

The best ffs have a romantic storyline which is why i love this one and ff8

also its the only old squaresoft one i completed! squareenix ones are easier to complete, i gave up on necron for a while then came back an got that sweet victory an beautiful final cut-scene :) ...then heard the theme song with lyrics which wasn't quite as good as garnet's version i thought :P

My favourite FF in the series.

Only just completed it as well :yay:
I love it so much I have it twice :dave:

In my opinion, FFIX was a great game, it very much excelled in graphics, and music for the PS1, It had a good story line, and some comedy, got a few giggles out of me. My fav FF of the series, Although there could be some improvements (Nothing's Perfect) It was really a great game for it's time.

I Love it, It was a great change after the tragedy of VIII
(No disrespect to the VIII lovers i still play VIII in my free time.) :)

Love it, love it, LOVE IT, just been playing it again as it came out on the Playstation store not too long ago, and this game is just awesome there is so much for you to do and explore. this game IMO is uderrated.
