FFX-2 Love it or Hate it

I hate it it's crap, and it actually defies the story of X seeing that Lenne and Shuyin lived in Zanarkand 1000 years ago while Tidus lived there, and actually the villain is crap dresspheres are just stupid, Blitzball is crap too :monster: they ruined FFX with this game. D:

It's alright for me.The story wasn't that fascinating to make me love it but I did like some dresspheres(they were flashy).

I have to admitt, X-2 was one of those sequels that, like many movie sequels, tried something new that totally disagreed with the first installment. I loved X and thus when I heard about a direct sequel I was psyched. Then I saw some of the official art and heard a little about the story and was turned off. The characters I came to know through X would never wear those outfits and the story didn't sound too promising. So I didn't buy it when it came out but instead waited to see the reviews and such. I even went so far as to spoil some of the story for myself to see if it was worth it.
Eventually I rented it and got the "good ending." After all that I decided that I liked and hated it at the same time. Some of the new characters, seeing what became of the some of the old ones and the story to some extent was nice but many things like certain characters' change of character (especially Brother who was waaaay more normal in X albeit still a little different), some of the costumes, the lines that were corny (don't get me wrong not all the dresspheres and lines were OOC), and way the X-2's story pales in comparison to X's brought the game down in my eyes.

I liked the game. I thought it was a different take on the other FF games. i like it for it's individuality. I like some of the dress spheres. I actually spent hours teaching all my characters everything they had to learn i think it was like 112 hours when i had completed it. But on my first go i only got 87% completion. But i didn't think that was bad for my first attempt.

I agree. Many dressphere's were weird or didn't suit the wearer.
I especially hated how Rikku had so little clothe on.

>> i could care less about this game. I wish it had never happened. I want to play a rpg game not a girls dress up game. *shrugs* I just did not like the fact that you have to pick different outfits just to have different moves is all.

I've grown to tolerate certain parts of the game -- the glimpse of Auron, the bits with the Crimson Squad aren't too bad, and the music videos are fluff but appealling -- however, the one thing I cannot forgive is that Square-Enix decided that in order to make a game that appealled to female gamers, they had to dumb down Yuna and Rikku, make them giggly/pouty teens, remove most of their wardrobe, and make game mechanics depend on clothing and accessories.

EXCUSE ME!?!

Can we PLEASE not assume that all girls want is BARBIE and Sailor Moon costume changes? I do not play video games to accessorize. I play video games to save the world, enjoy a good story, angst the good angst, and open quantities of whup-ass against bad guys. Gimme my ridicuously oversized sword and/or AK-47, mmmkay? No earrings needed.

And I'm sorry, but having main characters who say things like "oh, poopie" and "disasterrific!" is a huge let down from speeches like, "YOU WILL PAY FOR HIS DEATH."

Equally superficial, but I like my epic with a shot of irony; hold the sugar.

Despite what other people have said i like this game a lot. I liked the simplicity of the dress spheres and how you could changed them halfway thru a battle if need be. I agree with auronlu about the cheesy lines like "disasterrific!" and "oh poopie". After playing X its hard to believe that yuna would say things such as that. I also hated the change they made to blitzball which, in X, was the best mini/side gameive ive ever played!
Apart from tht i think X2 was a really good game and i liked the way X was played with tidus story and then X2 showed the after effect with yuna.

you all dont no what your talking about final fantasy ever its better than x so i agree with whitemage all the way its the best ever so in my opinion its cool

this is not sexist or nothing but having a female character as the leading role spoils the action basis of the game
Its really hard not to view that as sexist. Not to mention there are plenty of games with female roles.

Tomb raider
Bloodrayne
Heavenly sword
Mirrors edge
Beyond good and evil
Silent hill 3
Primal

And many many more

You must mean female leading roles,if I'm not wrong.

You may also add Rumble Roses(but that's for fanservice)
or Death by Degrees
Red Ninja

Let alone all those anime with female protagonist.
-----------------------
And it is sexism as you imply that females in leading roles cannot provide action of quality(go watch some Dead Fantasy)

Yes i did mean that. And i agree, saying woman are in any way worse than men at anything is the meaning of sexism. Woman arent better at anything, and men arent better at anything. A person's skill does not depend on there gender.

No love, obviously, WE do.

X had so much more going for it then X-2, in terms of most things really - it's pretty much obvious, whether it lie with the gaming people themselves, reviewers etc. Things, which we have all explained. If we all don't know what we are talking about, maybe you can enlighten us with your opinion.

I enjoyed the game, main reason being the battle system, which as most of us know, is the main thing of Final Fantasy game (It having the most gameplay involved). I liked how you didn't really have to fanny around waiting for people or enemies to use their attacks, you selected the move and used it straight away (or in magic's case, you started getting ready to cast it straight away).

The music was okay...wouldn't exactly class it as the best of Final Fantasy, but the music has been worst.

The storyline, I found more humourous than serious sometimes, but I appreciate humour more than most people, so that's probaly what's made me give the game more appreciation then most people.

As for the the female protaganist issue...I don't really see why the gender of the lead role spoils the game...but that's just Jule's opinion, it is quite sexist, I will agree, but it's his opinion.

WHY MANY PEOPLE COMPARE FFX TO FFX-2?
X-2 IS JUST THE CONTINUATION.
IF X-2 STORY WERE IN THE X, YOU ALL WILL BE SAYING THAT FINAL FANTASY X WAS NOT A GOOD GAME? YOU GET MY POINT?

Woah moi, calm down. No reason to get yourself all worked up. People all have a difference in opinion, no need to get upset. Unless you're not really shouting and just enjoy typing in caps. If that be the case you should probably refrain from doing so as members will mistake caps for shouting or aggressiveness. ^_^

...because it's in the same world? Same...settings? What do you expect?
People always compare things anywho.

No, we would still be saying the same thing...but it wouldn't happen anyway. Unless you messed about with the story a lot, and things might change.
