FFXIII-2 Discussion Thread

Hell no, you're not!!:DD

I'm really looking forward to this, mainly due to the fact that they've gotten rid of all of the (gameplay) faults I had with this game, and perhaps the story will be somewhat better....

Anybody see the "Game Informer" spoiler???? I heard about something like, they typed up an article on the first few hours of the game???

Look at my username and sig. Enough said.

Yeah I have seen the GI article, I regretted looking at it. I wanted to hear as little spoilers as I can.

By the way, check out andriasang. There's a couple of new screenshots and info just released.

The flan monster with the sunglasses is the best thing I've seen in the game yet. No, seriously. It screams DEAL WITH IT, and the fact I'm amused by it is ironic considering I've little real interest in this sequel. Am I just easily amused or something?

Now I want to give a Tonberry a parasol to replace its knife. It doesn't matter if this parasol won't affect stats. Zack has already demonstrated that a beach umbrella is just as deadly as a six-feet long big-ass sword.

That flan picture just made my day. :x3:

Mod Edit: Quickie reminder - when in post count sections such as this, avoid short one line posts if you can. Try and expand on them a little more when you can, but don't worry about having to make them long as we don't expect long posts, obviously. Just a few lines or so at least is adequate. =]

FFXIII-2 cinematic shows epic Lightning-Caius fight in Valhalla

Square Enix has released a two-minute video of one of the Final Fantasy XIII-2 cinematics, showing an epic battle between Lightning and new baddie Caius, which takes place in Valhalla. As is the Square norm, it’s in flabgobinglytastic CG. Get watching below the break.
FFXIII-2′s out in Japan on December 15, with a US launch on January 31 and a European launch on February 3, for PS3 and 360.

this is cool.... but your a bit late... i posted this in the news thread this afternoon :P

Oh gosh this makes me wish I'd pre-ordered Crystal instead of the Limited Edition... Having said that, The Limited Edition was priced at £40, the same as the standard game, whilst Crystal was double that at £80... It just looks rather incredible. :wacky:

Where did you see the LE for only 40 pounds? The one place I import from lists it at 45 :ness:

I know if I pre-order the Collector's edition from GameStop here in Canada, I'll get an alt. costume for Serah, and buying the same region game would allow me to access whatever goodies I could get for using my old save data, but fuck, I kind of regret spending 90.00+ (we have high taxes here in Canada, btw) on that Catherine Love is Over Edition-I dunno if I want to spend that much on this NA version. But the EU Crystal Edition appears to be sold out from the place I import from, so I'm still hesitant to spend 75 on just the Limited Edition (75 is roughly what it comes to after exchange rates and such).

What to do? :ness:

---

I was gonna make a thread for this, but then thought it wasn't really that important xD

With all the Norse mythology being used in FFXIII-2 (and I missed it in FFXIII too), why doesn't Caius call Lightning a Valkyrie?

He says "warrior goddess" which basically means the same thing, and again, it seems the Norse terms are being used, so why not just go the extra step? I have a hard time believing the people behind the translation or even creation of the game didn't think to use "Valkyrie", so I wonder why they didn't. I mean, Lightning certainly looks the part (though I thinks she's better, rawr :3)

Unless there are delays, my copy of the Japanese version of XIII-2 is arriving today :)

So excited!

I have preordered the english version too, of course.

I use xbox too, but it's the Asian version. So it takes NTSC-J games. =)

Oh great... the delivery is delayed to the 19th...
Why is that I ALWAYS get bad experience importing stuff?

The last time I ordered the xbox360 FFXIII, I realised it was region-locked.
Then when I purchased the XIII Piano collections album, thinking that it will never be available in my country, it was actually sold in a local bookshop a week later or so.

The worst thing is, I will be away on the 20th...

Should have just waited for the English version. (and I freaking bet I will run into some sort of trouble getting it too).

I am very much looking forward to the release of this game, it looks to correct many of the wrongs which plagued the predecessor. The gameplay looks to be set to be level with the tale being told rather than ffxiii with its story is the main focus approach.

I hope this game is better than ffxiii it means us ff hardcore fans can cut square-Enix some slack......

maybe.

You haven't fallen for Caius have you ?
rotfl.
well good luck with that.

Just as it was too soon to condemm the game when it was first announced it's too soon to celebrate it as a tour de'force for FF.
we simply don't know yet.

I believe Square should have released Versus first. If they had done that they would have satisfied the long suffering Versus fans and if it is a hit, made those of us who didn't like FFXIII more inclined to give XIII-2 a chance. Now some the fans who disliked XIII won't buy -2, at least not at first because of this.

Too, we know that -2 is largely made of leftover material from the first game and that at first when they decided to do -2, it was only going to have Serah and the moggle in it.No Noel. They decided that wouldn't work and added Noel.
While a good decision it makes me question their thinking as to how they ever thought Serah alone could carry the game.
For me it makes me wonder if the FF team gets it about FF or if they're still capable of stupid moments.

I'm wondering if there will be alot of frustrations about this game as well, especially for newbies if Caius is too strong for them to defeat him.
There are still people out there who never have been able to defeat THE WEAPONS in FFVII for example.
How will they feel about the so-called unbeatable Caius ?

whatever.We'll see how thing go.

Rumour – Gilgamesh, Jihl and more coming to Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC

Whispers say the Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC barrage will not stop any time soon.

Siliconera cites an anonymous source for news that upcoming DLC will add a Coliseum battle with Final Fantasy V’s Gilgamesh.

Players who obtain a crystal from this fight will be able to add Gilgamesh as a monster party member.

The site also names Final Fantasy XIII’s Jihl Nabaat as an upcoming Coliseum character, although it doesn’t make it explicit whether Jihl is expected to be recruitable.

Finally, a villain from Final Fantasy VI is expected to turn up. Kefka is the beloved title’s most prominent antagonist, but there are others.

This week’s console update brought a couple of pieces of new DLC to the RPG – a gambling-focussed pack about Sazh, and some new costumes.

Gilgamesh's appearance is quite expected. But I don't think I'm buying that DLC. I am interested in his XIII-2 design though.

Lawl please be the Ultros/ octopus guy ! Please ! That would be so awesome ! :wacky:

About Gilgamesh meh... he's cool in FF5 and in Dissidia but I think he's getting a bit dull/ repetitive.

Noel’s Assassin’s Creed Costume For Final Fantasy XIII-2 Coming Soon

Back in November of last year, Square Enix announced a collaboration with Ubisoft by which you’d be able to dress Noel up like Ezio Auditore from the Assassin’s Creed series via a DLC costume. After that initial announcement, Square didn’t bring the subject up again, and went on to announce and release their Mass Effect collaboration instead.

The Ezio costume is still on its way, however. Square Enix Europe mentioned today that Noel will be able to don Ezio’s clothing “soon”. No dates have been provided either for Japan or the US/EU for now.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC adds Ezios and UFOs

Crossover content returns to Final Fantasy XIII-2 in Japan, with the Ezio costume for Noel finally making its appearance on April 10. It's not Prada, but it'll fit. Coming along with Ezio's togs is Gilgamesh, a coliseum fighter who, like others, can be recruited.

The other downloadable coliseum battle announced for Japan is Koyo-Koyo, which is an adorable group of aliens in a flying saucer. You kill them.

While it's cool to get another new coliseum battle (and from my favorite FF8 no less) I feel like since FF8 dealt with time, a much better opponent could have been chosen then some rare side boss thing.

Like and Edea/Seifer battle or something along those lines.
