FFXIV ARR Beta

Made a Miquote, named Asana Sunstorm, on the Cactuar server (EU)

What annoys me is that the Safe Zone (HUD) display is so offset to my TV. Everything on the edges and sides are outside of my TV's area.

Same issue with me. It's a tad bit annoying really. Plus I find it really difficult to chat, so I'm definitely looking forward to getting FFXIV for the PC. I think they did a good job with utilizing the PS3 controller, and using macros and other functions seems feasible enough (even without a keyboard), but I just feel like it would be even more awesome on the PC. ^^; So I'll be shopping for a graphics card pretty soon it seems! >D;

Anyway, my Miqote's name is... Chanteru Chandora (>.>;; ) and I'm on Cactuar, so see you all soon!

So how is the Beta how is the game? Complicated?
You guys are too silent! Would you keep supporting this game when it releases? In other words P2P?

I played the beta for a good 30 minutes. I'll play it again when other ppl are on, it's pretty, amusing though.

The emotes are well made, but the UI just annoys me.

And no, I wouldn't P2P this when the official game comes out, just because I don't do P2P.

Thx bro for replying. I just applied for Beta, but I doubt Im getting in. I just want to check it out. I dont do P2P either, but I might make an exception.
UI I have to check tht out on my tv I guess.

If you go to System > HUD ... you can move some of the windows around so that they're not too close to the edges. I can't move the chat window (bottom-left) though.

Kinda explored a bit. I'm trying to learn the ins and outs of the system before partying up with anyone. Otherwise I'd only keep you all behind. The UI is very tedious, but I'm slowly getting the hang of things.

My character's Mitsuki Caleis -- Stevie's already added me on the FFForums Linkshell. :)

I'm trying to get new clothes so that I'm not stuck with the newbie one. :ryan: Anyone know where I can find some?

You get new clothes from doing quests. You can also by some certain vendors, but quests are the easiest way to gear up.

I meant the general HUD, not the User Interface,

The game is so offset to my TV that the copyright information on the main menu screen GO WAYYYYY BELOW from where I can see it.

I'll take a screenshot later on to provide what I'm talking about.

Ah, I see what you mean. The copyright doesn't show for me as well.

I was having a similar issue with mine, except with the UI, but I managed to fix that by going to System > HUD and moving things around.

@kryceks Thanks! I'll continue doing quests then. :)

Quests was how I got most of mine

Also, i'm going to add a player list to the first post, sooo we can find eachother better

So I am playing the game now, I made a Lancer... I think it is alright on the PS3, I have not problem with my TV, or the game being "offset" on the screen, not that I see at least.

The only problem I had thus far was that I feel like I had to mash the X button down at the beginning cause the dialog wouldn't go away...

Characters name: Shace Longville
and I am in Cactuar (y)

Made a character on Cactuar. Name is Funky Scherzo if you want to add me to the Linkshell :)

you need to friend request me first, character name is Yuki Nakai

Ok my character is an Elf on Cactuar server and her name is Cotton Factorie (shaddup) and my username thingy is PinkSquiddy if you need that.

Now add me so I have friends

Well, well, power goes out for a day due to storms and everyone starts getting busy and I get left behind! :gonk:

I'll have to go on a friending spree tomorrow. I used a Fantasy Name Generator for my character because I was feeling uninspired, but I'm not sure I like the result. Oh well, is what 'tis: Ruveyn Kalim (I think. I'll update if that's incorrect.)

I've only played for about an hour, so far no technical issues. Of course I play on a projector, so it would be extremely odd to have screen cropping issues--it's essentially a giant monitor, not a TV. Graphics on PS3 vs PC are disappointing, but that's to be expected. Frame rate dips often enough as it is--I wouldn't want them to make it any more intensive. I really hated the HUD at first, but I spent a long time rearranging it and now it's alright. I can share my arrangement if anyone else wants to try it--it frees up a lot of screen space and puts things at more natural places, IMO.

In answer to Ohri-Jin , it is fairly complicated, but so far it seems like a lot more detail is provided than is really required. Those who care to really get into the stats and commands and such can, but it's also friendly to less hard-core players who don't want to put in so much time. Like, you can either fill up 64 (!!) custom binds in the hotbar, or you can just stick with the few defaults. I don't do P2P either, but it seems like the game is headed in the right direction this time. I think it will do well.

After playing a bit on the PS3, I now see the problem with the screen.

Firstly chat window is kinda funky, even when you type in the chat, you can't see the bottom of it, and when you are talking to NPC's, and looking at your quests you can't read it all...

I hope this gets fixed soon in the Beta...
