Final Fantasy XV Delayed To November (Rumor)

It's currently trending on twitter (JA)

I'm not sure if this is a good move on their part. Now they're going to have to compete against CoD: IW, Pokemon Sun and Moon, and Dishonored 2. All different types of games but they're anticipated nonetheless. But I'm happy they're taking the time they need. I'd rather wait two extra months than have a glitchy game.

How do you know Tabata delayed it because of glitches though? To me it sounds like he's scared to release it right away because he feels there is something beyond his master version. He needs these extra two months to complete additional content he couldn't get in time for September. But hey, the September version would have likely had a day 1 patch regardless. I think this delay is a bit silly after all the damn PR they got together for Uncovered to announce a non finalized release date. They are asking for two months more of polish.... which means it has something to do with content AND not to mention the 30 min gameplay video they want to show off at gamescom to show us what FFXV looks like in final form.

Do they have fan support? Yes, but they butchered that in two now most likely and people will still shite on it after seeing this "amazing gameplay"

I wasn't saying there are glitches, I'm just saying that if they're doing this to ensure that there aren't any glitches in the game then I think it's a good move. I wish they did this with Uncharted 4 tbh. so I'm not attacking the game or something. That's why I said I support their decision. But it seems they're doing it to avoid fans being left out due to a day one patch. Which I also like.

I understand what you are saying about the patch but let's look at the bigger picture. Since this patch is supposed to be of higher quality than what Tabata considers his master version, then what about the Playstation meeting in September? They will without a doubt reveal the PS Neo there. How do you think this will affect FFXV's delay? In fact, what if it is all planned just to show FFXV running on Neo? Hmmm there is a lot to think about here. Let's not forget about Xbox consumers also.... If FFXV DOES get a NEO upgrade, xbox will likely be forgotten.

I don't think you've quite hit the mark for two reasons.

A: I think people will complain. But they will complain a lot more if the game releases in a poor state. The complaints will stop the second the game releases, because the game being delayed will no longer matter. But first impressions are huge, and many games (like Evolve, just for one single example) have failed due to a bad first impression. The game is supposed to be great now; it was a mess at launch, so nobody cares.

B: The last few months of development are always used for polish and bug fixing. Adding content and features can introduce millions of new problems, so almost universally across the industry, dev teams focus the last few month on performance. Unless the team is absolutely mad, the only thing they could be working on is fixing issues. The demos both had iffy performance, with regular framerates hovering around 20-25fps, and the dynamic resolution scaling dropping the resolution just above 720p on Xbox One. By the time this last E3 rolled around, they had most of that seemingly figured out, but it's still not perfect, particularly in a more openly designed game like this, where unexpected issues can crop up multiple times in one person's game simply because of how they play it, that never crop up in another person's game. So there are a lot of things that have to be taken into account, particularly since this is using a proprietary engine that only Square can find workarounds for (they can't consult Epic, or Unity, or even just other dev teams for solutions to issues, since they're using their own engine).

As far as your NEO concerns go, there's nothing to be worried about. The NEO is not changing into something to compete with Scorpio like some people think (they'd have to delay it to at least past the Scorpio launch for that), so teams like Square have likely already had it in their hands for several months. The NEO effectively doesn't effect anything here. The thing that I guarantee is holding the game back -but they're putting it nicely when they say "highest possible quality for every single person who buys the game"- is the Xbox One. That version of the game already struggled. So it's imperative that they achieve as much parity between the platforms as possible. If anything, they're trying make sure that the Xbox One version drops below 900p as little as possible. And depending on how Microsoft is managing the Xbox One S, they might not even be allowed to release a game that drops below 900p on that system.

Honestly I think no matters what people would have complained, if they released it now with the things going on in the game or if they got it released later... and honstly this isn't the only company to have put a delay on the game...granted the whole big announcement thing was a dumb move...also I feel if they should have known they were going delay the game at least a month or two ago, but whatever.

Also I think this was a better move and should have been the original move, to get it around the holiday versus in the summer. Sure they will compete with other games, but I think that at this point people have decided what they want to get, so with all the rage I'm sure those that want FFXV will still get it.

I on the side of people sayingit a rather smart move, I also love how honest Square Enix has been in their release of the delay

Their main reason is that they do not want a day one patch, this makes sense for a single player offline experience like FFXV, So often, I will not bother connecting my ps4, wii u, 3ds etc if I am just playing a single player game like an rpg. A mutliplayer game getting a day 1 patch makes sense, there could be a last moment 'oh snap, this character is op when used by people'. but there is no reason a single player focused game like FFXV should get on, game not ready, I would rather a delay rather than a 3-4 hour download just because they want to hit an date. There has already been a few examples of this, Uncharted 4 needed a day 1 patch because the base game was super buggy, No man sky GOT A DELAY on pc to fixx it and it still got a crappy release because hello games were too scared to delay it more than a few days. The delay gives me faith that they will make the best game that they can, I just hope they use the extra time to truly polish the game.

And Square are also doing something most companies wouldn't do, show the game in the state it would of been in on september 30th to fans and the press later this week. It truly shows they just want more time to finish fully polishing the game and it not due to some huge bug that causing major issues.

Hey, I now get to import Persona 5 now too 'but i'm slightly pissed that I got to buy FFXV and Pokemon Moon on the same week, stupid delayed EU launch for Pokemon'

Lol, there we go. I've just had an email from Game about my pre-order being delayed too so...now we know.

I'm honestly not bothered since it's not a game I'm extremely excited for, but it is a bit daft to need even more time to get a simple game out.

True that. More people should be like Ubisoft and Square Enix circa late 2010 and hurry out a half-baked product out the door instead of letting it stay in the oven for a little while longer.

A delay is generally a good thing, especially if the game has been a long nightmare to make, built using a difficult proprietary game engine and by a team that is likely overworked and inexperienced when it comes to game development of this scale.

Yes, it had to do with the title. If you got a problem with how I address situations then ban me.

I simply have a problem with your needless condescension and accusatory tone. No, I have no desire to see you punished for it and I certainly would not have bothered (I'm not even a moderator anyway). I just felt like calling you out on that.

I'm not saying it should be released half-baked...but after all this time there's no chance in hell it should be? Yes, they changed the game a tonne over this time, but dear god, these are supposed to be professionals! If they have put inexperienced people on a game this big, that shows a much bigger problem over at SE...

This whole situation honestly makes me laugh. 2 months won't kill me but just look at the history of this game and yet again it needs another delay! lol!

No one at Square Enix has worked on an open-world game of this scale before. This is Square Enix's first attempt at something of this scope unlike their counterparts in the west. This is also the company that like many of its Japanese peers has stumbled badly with the transition to HD development in the first place and all of a sudden they have to build this game with the reputation of the franchise on the line.

Development proper on this game has gone on for like 3-4 years which is quite normal for a triple-A game of this scale, to be honest.

Their HD games have been well-received and universal successes.

You know, if you're not one of the asswipes who wants a company who makes games other people like to stop existing. That is to say, no one who Square Enix actually gives a shit about or needs in any way to play their games are the only people who consider their "reputation" to be on the line.

That's why there's so many people desperate for FFXV to fail, so delusional and selfish in that hope. They only want to be vindicated in their sociopathic vendetta against a developer because they're making games those people don't like but they're still hugely successful, and thus they're not going to give the whiny crybabies exactly what they want.

Really, the FFVII remake could be identical in gameplay and structure to FFXIII and you'd still have the same people who wanted the developers to die for the latter game kissing their asses over the former game.

What the hell are you talking about and how on earth is it related to what I wrote? Who on earth are you talking to here? Can you stop projecting for at least one sodding post of yours?

You are in serious denial if you don't believe that FFXV has much to prove not only in delivering a coherent and competent game but also as an experience that can restore the prominence of a franchise that simply does not command that same level of clout it did a couple of generations ago! They need a healthy mix of mainstream customers AND fans/relapsed fans who have played the previous Final Fantasy games to make this installment an actual success relative to how much has been poured into developing it!

Quit the ridiculous projecting, the non sequiturs and the childish ad hominems. Take a chill pill. Seriously. You have done absolutely nothing to make yourself endearing to this community and it is bloody embarrassing.

There are millions of people who are incredibly hyped for FFXV. And that's not because "Oh, they're TOTALLY not going to make it like that one game some people could never stop whining about!" It's because people know that it's going to be a top-tier game; because for players all around the world, Square Enix does not need to prove anything to them.

Unless you're a clickbait-hungry paparazzi who cows to trolls who harass and terrorize everyone who doesn't think like them, who if they had their way this game wouldn't even have any right to exist because it's not exactly what they want.

@Cabbage @Lunafreya Nox Fleuret

What history are you two talking about? This game has not been in development for ten years. If that's what you're referring to, get it out of your head. Development started in late 2012. So there has been no development hell, and honestly little issue with development so far. It's all in everyone's heads.

finalxxsin and flybypie you two are the reason people hate the xv fandumb, even when they like the game themselves (like me). you're both incredibly hostile no matter the topic. its clear that you guys are more insecure about this game than you admit to, or else you wouldnt be so sensitive to every little thing and ready to fight. you say its us that wants the game to fail, but you clearly have doubts about it yourself.

you have no respect for me because i knew this delay wasn't a rumor, but anyone who's been in the ff fandom knows this shit happens all the time. sorry i looked at a fucking poster and saw that it was supposed to change dates and accepted the truth. i should have assumed it was some crazy ffxv hater who wants the game to fail going around photoshopping shit. that would have been much more sane and respectable to assume people were assholes like that.

cultist xv stans have made themselves paranoid for a game yall haven't even played yet.

It got delayed again big deal, and I mean really two whole months what a bug deal this is. It's not gonna end the world or be some great cataclysm so stop making a fuss about this, what does two months change unless you're on your death bed? At least they had some form of decency to let us know a month and a half ahead of time instead of like a week that this was going to be delayed. So them holding off on it to fix minor issues to try and avoid day one patches this shows that they might have a small semblance to care for the people planning to buy this product. Honestly with all the money they dumped into this it's understandable that they would be nervous as hell with releasing this, with all the time and effort I would want to make sure there is nothing at all wrong with the final product if I was in their shoes. So all in all let's quit crying about a two month delay and be grateful we are still getting this game this year,

Well, no matter when the game comes, the last thing I want to do is involve myself in this fandom.

Congratulations, you obsessed haters of a work other people enjoy. You've made the fandom of one of their favourite series so intolerable that they're never going to even touch the Final Fantasy fandom ever again.

Congratulations.

Dude... seriously. Knock it off. You are being so far beyond overdramatic. Relax and treat people like human beings. There is absolutely no need to get this upset.
