Just wondering how everyone allocated the GF.

I have done the game a couple of times and mucked about a couple of times. At this time I having another play.

I know people that always allocate all the GF to the main party.

But I always liked giving one specific GF to each Character, rising to 2 etc when I have enough GF.

I found this cut out having to re-junction all the time. And as I liked to use all characters I found this best. I know people liked to use just 3 main characters too but I liked to use them all.

I have a GF configuration (for 3 characters) that would have very little overlap in added abilities as possible (at least I think that was my intent). I've been meaning to try it, but I haven't gotten back into 8 just yet.

Squall - Eden, Cactaur, Bahamut, Doomtrain, Cerebrus, Carbuncle
Character 2 - Tonberry, Leviathan, Brothers, Siren, Quezacotl
Character 3 - Alexander, Pandemona, Diablos, Ifrit, Shiva

I did focus on Squall a bit more. He has nearly all of the Junction abilities (primarily the x4 ones). Of the character abilities, he has all of the Auto-???? abilities (yeah, I know, there are 5 and he can only equip 4), all 5 ??? Bonus abilities.

I made this setup a while back though, so I don't quite remember what I was trying to focus on when giving my GFs out.

One thing that I always do at the beginning of the game is give Squall Shiva and Quistis Quezacotl. Then Ifrit goes on Squall when I get him. After that, it's almost always different somehow.

I allocate to the main party, switch out as I need too

I've always used the same setup every play through, keeping the opposing GF's apart as well. I couldn't be bothered using my imagination, I just followed what the guide told me to do and it's always worked out just fine for me.

I also just kept it to the main 3, and just junction switched when necessary (mainly only in Ultimecia Castle). Mainly because it was a hassle to get all the items that taught abilities to GFs and also cos its difficult to get a lot of the good magic (triple, ultima etc).

Also I needed my other 3 characters to 'stock' excess magic, like if I have 305 triples I give 100 each to my main 3, and let a backup hold the rest so that I don't hesitate to use the magic during battle (I always wanted to have 100 junctioned to each stat). This was really useful for Full-life, Aura and Meltdown which I used regularly and were also junctioned to my stats.

I NEVER use the items that teach abilities to GFs. It's just a pain to me.

As far as stocking magic, I just get it as I go, upgrade it as soon as I can, and I try to keep it all on Squall. Once he runs out of room, I start moving the more useless spells to other characters. Early on, Squall is really the only person I focus on junctioning magic to. It's usually once I get Ragnarok that I start trying to fill the other 2 characters out. Especially if I have a ton of items that I can turn into magic.

Well there are 6 elemental GFs in the game, Ifrit, Shiva, Brothers, Leviathan, Pandemonium, Quezacotl. So I put one on each of my six party members so they are have a GF. Then I add Eden, Bahamut, Cactuar, Doomtrain, Diablos, to 5 characters pushing Tonberry and alexander on the other to make up the difference. Then I just throw the other GF's around until it makes my party super strong.

I build them by first learning all the -J, Refine, Abilities, Skills, leaving the GF boosters alone. Not Boost itself but Summon Magic +##% and GF HP +##%. After I get limited down to how much I can learn on each GF, I erase some pointless reaccuring skills like draw, magic, item. Those are on every GF so you can lose some and if needed to have them later, you can buy them in Timber.

Time my GF's have everything learnt, all I find I need is one Luck jct scroll, one speed and maybe one of one more thing.... but i cant rememeber what, luck i pinch off Odin, SPD cerberus, its not that much of an issue as long as you have your shit set up proper like

So I guessing everyone so far would say for me to allocate all the GF to the main party then? I just always liked gives each character one so i can swap in and out with ease..

I do love the Final fantasy games epec vii to ix but i not what you call a proper gamer and altho I have completed the games I have never done to 100%.

Its SO easy to swap them out though, all you have to do is switch its not like you have to reassign junctions or anything(stupid stupid stupid dream sequences ruining my day)

It really would make more sense, I mean, do they even gain AP whilst with your non-active party members? I wouldn't know.... xD

A long time ago, I actually mapped out how to junction GF's to avoid having to burn a ton of items. Only 3 GF's have Hit% (Diablos, Cerberus and Eden) and this can't be learned otherwise, so these 3 had to be on different party members (even though Squall has 255 all the time). Only 3 GF's have Spd (Pandemona, Cerberus and Eden), 2 have Eva (Cactuar and Eden) and only Cactuar has Luck. If all of these GF's are allocated correctly, then you'll only need to use 1 Aegis Amulet and 2 Luck-J Scrolls, with no need of a Spd-J Scroll. I also consider all the basic junctions, but they're fairly plentiful across all the GF's (and those scrolls are pretty cheap to buy). The other important thing I look at is Stat-Def-Jx4 and Elem-Def-Jx4. Only 2 of each carry these junctions (Stat = Cerberus and Doomtrain, Elem = Alexander and Doomtrain). So naturally, junction them wisely as well. And Tonberry is the wild card GF that can be junctioned to anyone because he has no junction abilities.

So long story short, I only keep the GF's on my active party members, and simply use the Switch screen to exchange all junctions to another character when changing parties. This is how I prefer to junction my GF's.

Squall:
Shiva
Diablos
Leviathan
Pandemona
Doomtrain
Tonberry

Guy:
Ifrit
Siren
Carbuncle
Alexander
Eden

Girl:
Quezacotl
Brothers
Cerberus
Cactuar
Bahamut

I always had mine junctioned to whoever was out, but I didn't really have a preference for who had which GF- although I always seemed to put Shiva with Squall

I liked giving like at least 3 GF to all party members each. This way every character has something unique about them ability wise and the party combinations are endless. I do like having certain GF's equipped on certain characters but I don't remember them all so I'm not listing! xD

Don't forget that each GF comes more compatible to other characters. So going by this you can know who is better with what. Of course there is the bonus of using them to raise the bar, or using items. Compatibility shortens the GF summoning time. This is good and bad, Cause if you don't have a lot of HP its good for the summon to take some damage for you. If you are not worried about that its nice to have them summon right away with very little wait time.

I only worry about this early on though, which is why I put Shiva on Squall (I think Shiva starts off more compatible with Squall than Quezacotl)

I think of it when I'm doing my final set up of characters. Like I said before each character has one of the six elemental spells, and 5 characters get the best GF's leaving one with remainders. I like to use the items to boost the GF's as much as I can once I have the final layout. Some only get good by using them, such as Eden which only other way is using Dark matter. I like to use my dark matter by refining them into luck J scrolls and rosetta stones. So its a waste when you know that 100 cursed spikes = 1 dark matter. That's why I use the Eden GF a lot to raise capatibility.

It's absolutely pointless giving GFs to party members out of your current party since they get no AP and hence, don't grow.

Well when you've learned all the stuff for them its a nice add on so you don't have to switch you junctions all the time. Plus it makes for a good final battle set up. Remember you use more then your first team at the last fight in the game. So its not absolutely pointless. :(

For some odd reason I always had mine set a certain way EVERY playthrough.

I ALWAYS had...

Squall: Shiva, Siren, Leviathan, Carbuncle, Alexander, Bahamut, Eden, Tonberry, Cactuar and Eden

Quistis: Ifrit, Diablos, Cerberus and Doomtrain

Rinoa: Quezacotl, Brothers, and Pandemona

I never use Selphie, Zell and Irvine... so they get nothing >.>

Squall: Shiva, Bahamut, Alexander, Siren, Tonberry, Eden

Boys: Ifrit, Diablos, Cerberus, cactuar, Doomtrain

Girls: Leviathan, Carbuncle, Pandemona, Quezacotl

That's how... I remember doing this anyway. I haven't actually played through the game for a while but, I tend to stick with this.

If I did decide to have two guys/girls i'd just switch it. But, I usually tend to have either Irvine/Zell Or Selphie/Rinoa/Quistis Squall. Not three guys or one guy two girls.
