Well, I guess no and yes. Scientifically speaking, you can't find God's foot print and know it's his. So on that level no. But I'm glad you brought up math. Proof for God's existence is kind of the same as math. You can't feel or touch math, you can't even find an impact left behind from it. But it does exist. Scientist regard math as the "universal language", astronomers even look for any hopeful messages of numbers in radio waves from outer space. Much like how math is universal without any proof other than it having a conclusion, God exist on that same level.Jimmy bear said:and another thing is that some religious people claim to know indefinitely that god exists, do you think this is something you can know? not on a personal level, on the same level that we "know" that 1 + 1 = 2.
There aren't so many God's though. There can be false Gods(like Allah or Zenu) that people follow but there is only one God. Soooo no they don't cancel each other out.if there are allowed to be so many gods, ones that love us all and ones that hate us all and ones that love some of us but hate the rest dont they all cancel each other out?
If you mean by "rise again" you mean return during the end times, yes I do believe that. There will be no question to whether or not it'll be Jesus. It will be a glorious moment shared all over the world in every language, after the seven year tribulation-- so there will be no mistaking it.do you believe that jesus will "rise again"? and if so how will you know who he is. if i said i was jesus what (apart from the fact that you know me to not take things seriously very much) would convince you that i wasnt.
No need to explain. In all honesty, I thought the video was funny. I know he doesn't believe in God or anything but those people were so stupid in their emails to him And, I didn't have the chance to spell check, so sorry. >.<annnnnnnnd last thing is that the topic was sort of semi inspired by the original video i posted but i didnt want to make a thread and call you out on it. if you want to troll or tell me to fuck off you can do so here but in a more serious section you couldnt. thats the only reason
The documents I'm speaking about were written actually very close after Jesus' death but I guess I can understand your doubt about it if it wasn't during Jesus' time. But people should take into consideration that word travel relied on a slow process. It took a while to get to people.
There's proof Pilate existed and we know how important he is. Proof that Pilate did in fact exist adds solidity to the claims of Cornelius Tacitus(who was a pagan Roman Historian) about Pilate and his actions involving Jesus. If a Pagan Roman Historian is writing about Pilate and what he did towards Jesus that kinda speaks for itself in the whole thing.
Not to mention, the stone ossuary with the inscription reading “James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus.” I guess you can say there could have been dozens of the same names being used but if you ask me, it's a pretty weird coincidence that the father and both brothers were named like the ones listed in the bible. Another thing to think about with this specific evidence is that it'd be understandable why James would list his father... but why mention his brother unless he was someone of significance and well known for some reason? It seems pretty unbelievable that I'm expected to regard this piece of evidence as just a coincidence. So, that's another piece of evidence that I view as proof.
(note: I had to fight the urge to mention Noah's ark being "found" )
To sum this part up, there is evidence, and the few years don't seem to make a difference because a Pagan Roman Historian speaks of Pilate and since we have proof of Pilate's existence not to mention the three biblical men mentioned on the tomb, hopefully you can see why I see this information so valuable when discussing this.
If I have evidence that supports the "theory of Jesus' existence" (Pilate existing, Tacitus referencing Pilate and what he did, and then the tomb stones) it's much like evidence involved in science theories--I have these signs that Jesus did in fact exist and I use that to evaluate the theory of him being real. Like in science, I may not have all the pieces of the puzzle, but the few that I do know of I can link together to see the image.
I know that some may say that these can be refuted but people can say that about anything. It might not be enough proof for you or somebody else, but for me, it's enough.
Honestly, Jim, I hesitated on answering this next question because there are people of other religions that whole-heartedly believe their god is the right God and in no way am I trying to make them doubt their God... But since you mentioned Islam and asked, I'll try to answer as politely as possible regarding that faith in general as to avoid hurting any on looking Muslims.
No. I don't view Islam's god as a God. I view him like what the Qur'an tells me he is... a deceiver and a god of lies. To me, that's always given me the impression that it's a (for lack of a better word) demon spirit... maybe even Satan(since the morning star and crescent moon are a symbolism for Satan & Satan calls himself father of lies) taking the facade of a "god" so that it can mislead people. I know that can look very closeminded but I just can't imagine a god gloating about being the best liar and be the "real" God at the same time.
So yes, regarding Islam (and not to mention Scientology) I do consider them false. The only other religions I can consider having the same God as me in some way is Judaism or... Buddhism(but that's pushing it for Buddhism).
On to your next question.
We can't see or touch God or see physical evidence of him, but that shouldn't disprove him. Look at the Big bang theory. We got here because the big bang, but then you have to ask yourself what started it all before that? What created that very first thing that started everything? And not just in our galaxy. To me, the sole fact that there's always a cause for a reaction is one reason why I believe there is some kind of God.
There aren't so many God's though. There can be false Gods(like Allah or Zenu) that people follow but there is only one God. Soooo no they don't cancel each other out.
If you mean by "rise again" you mean return during the end times, yes I do believe that. There will be no question to whether or not it'll be Jesus. It will be a glorious moment shared all over the world in every language, after the seven year tribulation-- so there will be no mistaking it.
But maybe you meant the other thing about maybe that homeless person is Jesus-sorta thing... which, if you do, I just gotta say there would be no way to know or not. But I can tell you that I'd be skeptical if you were just saying "I'M JESUS!" --cause Jesus will come like a thief in the night during the end times, so why would he proclaim he's Jesus like that? He wants to test the goodness of people's hearts, of course if Jesus is asking for help you'd lend a hand... he's your savior... But would you do the same for a stranger? That's the form Jesus would come in. A modest form that wouldn't state who he is, so he could see the true intentions of our hearts.
And that comes too... 1,179 word count.
No need to explain. In all honesty, I thought the video was funny. I know he doesn't believe in God or anything but those people were so stupid in their emails to him And, I didn't have the chance to spell check, so sorry. >.<
And if I missed something just point it out and I'll reply.
