How good/bad of a cook are you?

I'm a pretty good cook, but a messy one...I do have a major problem when cooking....I'm a perfectionist in the kitchen and whatever im making must be just right!

I love to experiment all the time in the kitchen as well, even taught my mum a few recipies that I concocted so she will stop givin my dad the same thing every day ;)

Whatever you do, dont let me loose in a kitchen....especially if theres lots of stuff in the fridge as your looking at one hearty feast :P

I'm sorta inbetween a bad cook and an okay cook. I can do things as long as I have the recipe for what I'm cooking infront of me. I do tend to confuse measurements though, like tablespoons and teaspoons, many times resulting in disaster. Why can't the US use metric? Seriously who came up with the US system of measurements? 8 fl oz = 1 cp, 2 cp = 1 pt, 2 pt = 1 qt, 4 qt = 1 gal??? why does it have to be so confusing? I'm also limited by my fear of the oven, but I'm perfectly fine with a microwave, stove, toaster oven, etc.

i can cook better than some of my friends though :)

*im a fairly good cook, ive learned some dishes from my mom, although i just like to cook canned food and fried food cause their easy to make :) easiest one is boil eggs, put em in water, let water boil voila! you get a meal! ahaha :) effortless! :) simply effortless :)

I think I am bad because one night I cook mac and cheese my brother said I needed to put more water. I also cook rice and soup and other stuff. I mean my mom said I am a good cook but I dont believe her. My brother makes me cook for him all the time. Other people say I cook good but I don't believe them either.

You know I am actually not that bad at cooking I am actually pretty good at making pasta. Well my mom likes my pasta but to me it tasted a bit weird I guess I did not realy cook it right or the pasta was dry.

My mom tells me I am a pretty good cook that I can open a resturant. I dont think so. I agree with my brother saying I am a bad cook. Hey first thing I agreed with him.lol I got to say my mac and cheese do need more water.

I haven't had that much experience in the kitchen, but when I do cook, everyone seems to like what I make. I got great reviews for my chocolate pie and pumpkin bread on Thanksgiving day, which made me feel really good. I'm far from an ace chef, but I'd call myself pretty good for a beginner.

I'm a basic canned-food, toaster making, microwave operating kind of cooker. I mean I can put a frozen pizza in the oven and operate that too, but I really haven't spent enough time in a kitchen to say I'm good at cooking stuff.

My mother's pretty good with that stuff and can cook up a lot of great recipes, but I haven't really had the patience to stand in a kitchen long enough to learn any of it.

miy friend mike china morgan make dmy entire family a pumpking checcsecakse for holloween that was amazing. my grandcather loved iseven thoguh he can't remember it now. it was sterrific. I also love hsi sosage. I'm a rorrible cook though. I ca cook one or two things but one time i made baloneie the the microwave. it was sd=sicsuting . don't ever ever edver do that@!

I am a good enough cook i can make the entire thanksgiving dinner and such by myself, including ALL the trimmings, pie, HAND MADE rolls, stuffing, gravy, potatoes, yams, etc etc.

Took me like 6-7 hours of nonstop cooking to do it. It's good enough that when my grams took some to her friends, she kept asking who cooked it and how i got it to stay so moist.

I r gud cook :monster:

I've been starting to cook more often now. Before I just knew how to make macaroni and cheese. :wacky: My mom is teaching me how to cook. I know how to make some Italian dishes such as chicken parmesan, fettucini alfredo, and lasagna. They're easy dishes but it's a start!

I would like to learn how to bake certain things from scratch such as pies.

I Burn Bacon. Enough said.

Honestly i am not that great of a cook. I usually stick to making sandwhiches, or at most baking chicken or something in the oven. If it has directions on the package, and goes in the oven, i can cook it. Other then that, i don't do well at cooking. I do quit literally burn bacon... though i can grill fine T_T which i don't understand. I can't fry things on a stove, but i can grill things without a problem if i need to.

Hello old topic.

Well I have to say I've been cooking less complicated dishes since we moved back to California, but whenever I do make the time to really put my culinary skills into use, it turns out pretty good...at least edible in my book. Learned a few things here and there over the course of two years, so I've improved. I just generally dislike cooking and would rather eat out than cook at home. I'm still a fan of baking versus frying though. There's just something about baked dishes that add a bit more flavor to anything I make.

I'm a pretty good cook. Growing up it was always my dad cooking for us since my mom often worked nights, so I always considered it the sort of thing that the man in the house does :wacky: Needless to say, the same trend continues in me and my girlfriend's relationship. Since moving in together almost 2 years ago, I have cooked the vast majority of meals. Not only because I like cooking though. Before we moved in together she could barely cook an egg, so me being in charge of the kitchen seemed like the sensible thing to do.

I'd say that overall, I'm a pretty good cook. I don't make anything that's really complicated or anything, but I can assure you if I make something, it will come out pretty much on the money. If I make homemade tacos, the meat comes out stellar! Though when I make Hamburger Helper, my success rate is fairly slim. :hmph:

When it comes to baking dessert goods, I've had pretty good success with that as well. I don't really bake things all that much, but I have yet to fail at that.

:hmm: Cooking, well I know how to follow directions, if that's how to cook. Though what I'm not really known for is innovative stuff. I have to use measuring cups, basters, and more when I cook in the kitchen, though my specialty is outside of the kitchen. I am more of a griller.

I enjoy either taking a drag of a cigarette or sipping on a nice cold beer while flipping burgers, brauts, hot dogs, fish, sausage, steaks, chicken ... fill in the rest. I do everything a certain way on the grill.

For my burgers.. I always use a Kroger brand (Grocery store) 1883 sauce to marinade for a good 2-3 hours. Prior to throwing them on the grill, I put onion soup mix and a dash of salt and pepper. I grill for a good 10-15 minutes depending on how many lbs of meat I bought.

For my steak/pork chops/chicken I go with 30 minute marinades. Yes I cheat, but I get the best results using these due to it has a natural tenderizer in them. Though I also put a dry rub on after marinading for a good 4 hours. If it's Chicken I stick to either Garlic, or more citrus marinades. If it's steak I either go sweet or salty. If it's pork chops I either barb-b-Q them, make them semi tangy, or sweet. Whatever I feel like.

Now my wife can cook, even though she reads by directions. We usually do rotisserie chicken, Fondue cheese + sour cream and chive bread, home made mac n cheese, Burgundy roasts, Cheesy Meat Loaf, Gooey Chocolate Doe balls. She hates doing the chicken, but everything else comes with ease.

I like to think i'm a good cook, I sometimes cook for my girlfriend and she seems to like it because her plate is always empty afterwards, and she's a very honest person, so she'd say if she didn't like it. I can cook a lot of things, but if I don't know how to cook something, I can learn fast from other people, and try and make my version after. Cooking is relaxing actually, to me anyway.

I almost killed a family of 4.

With Easy Mac.

MOD EDIT: Can we elaborate on the posts a little more please? This is a spammy post in a post count section. Further spam will be deleted (how ironic in a cooking thread). Thank you.

Well,I consider myself a good cook.I've learned many stuff to cook from my granny and mom, then my aunt back in Spain 1 year ago. Also, currently -from september- I will start some cooking lessons till winter xD I can't wait to see what other stuff I may learn there : D
I know mostly how to cook traditional food from my country, but along with that I luv to bake cakes,to make sweets in general[cookies, small cakes,pancakes,1 sort of candy] and some other dishes such as like[ramen, soups, potatoes in different ways, meat -diff.ways etc]
I am planning of course after the lessons,to get a job in a restaurant :kelly:

Whenever people ask me if I can cook I always reply "I don't cook things, I burn them." Being a student isn't really a good excuse, but it is my only one. I do know how to cook some very basic things, but as for wanting to be able to make a tasty elaborate meal, I simply don't have the time. I don't have the time to learn or to want to try.

My goal is to be able to pick up some cookbooks and start learning when I graduate from school next spring and go from there. I would loooooove to try to make some of my own Italian dishes and some casseroles because they are personal favorites that I would happily make just to have leftovers of....so thats probably where I'm going to start out. I look forward to the day when we have a potluck at work and I can make something classy rather than just bringing a fruit plate :monster:
