How old were you when you played your first Final Fantasy?

For me, I played my first FF game before 2000-ish. I can't quite remember because I was 5-7 at the time. A family friend had given me the game, which at the time I didn't care much about because I had no clue what it was or how to play it. I picked it up again a year or two later and was able to get into it.

That game happened to be 'Final Fantasy VII.'

When I played my first FF game I must have been 8 or 9 years old, that was when my cousin got me and my brother FFVII for christmas and we played it together. And I've played every FF since.

I was about eight or nine when I first played a FF game. It was Final Fantasy VII.

I didn't start getting into the Final Fantasy series until 2002 and Final Fantasy X was the first game i played, I was 16 at the time.

Funny story, my cousin had a PS1 for Christmas in 1998 and it came bundled with Final Fantasy VII. OK I'm gonna admit that when he got FFVII for Christmas I'd never even heard of Final Fantasy. So he played it and thought it was rubbish, I don't think he even made it that far, he told me he didn't know what to do. And when he told me I automatically thought the same, without playing it myself, I just took his word for it. I eventually did play it but not until 2004 and I absolutely loved it. Wish I had played it over his house that time I would have asked him to sell it to me.

I played FFVII when I was 7 years old. xD It was my very first RPG & I remember getting stuck on the mechanical scorpion boss. ...yes, the first boss of the game. I was such a newbie. -_-

I was 15 when I played FF for the first time. I played FF XII when I was at a friend's house, she was currently playing it and I wanted to try it. I really liked it, and the first thing I did afterwards was getting the game myself LOL. I've been hooked to FF ever since!

Hmm. I think I was around 10, 11 years old. My uncle gifted me with a PlayStation and Final Fantasy VII with it. I wouldn't touch it at first, I was too scared to play. :wacky: The only person who would play was my father and I'd just sit beside him and watch. I saw him defeat the first boss, the robo-scorpion... I can't remember what it's called anymore :wacky: Then, I picked up the game from there.

Like most people, my first FF was also VII.
I was around 11 when I borrowed a copy from a friend and for my loss the game was German (mind you, I didn't understand a word lol) I was still able to clear it regardless and have fun. That was also my very first RPG and how my passion for them started.

After that I just bought the English version, then started hunting for the other FF's.

Haha. Nothing wrong with that, I'm sure many of us at that time died a few times as his hands, myself included. xD

Since i had 8 maybe i was always seeing my brother playing FF8 and took me until i had 14 to play FF and i played almost all of them (1 to 12) but right now im kinda in a inpace with the franchise for some years now. Im waiting for a New final fantasy that make me want jump into the series again (XIII-XIII-2 and XIV didnt help)

its cause you have too high of expectations... trust me if you dont expect much you would have realized XIII and XIII-2 were great games... its different from how it used to be but they are trying to update the playing system and kinda remake it instead of using the same thing over and over... idk about XIV not much into the online FF games but i will give them a shot

First they removed the World Map..... I dealt with it
They remove the MC naming....I dealt with it
They removed the turn based system.....I dealt with it.
They removed by far any interaction and gave us an interactive movie and went to the action style RPG...........:facepaw:

they game was an experiment i guess you can say to test the battle system... but if you say it ruined it for you that means you had high expectations

Not really. FFXII is not the best but at least was fun to play since it still has some FF feel so my spectations at least are that any new FF game can retain a little feel to rpg like 12.

I know exactly what you mean. FFXIII and FFXIII-2 have a very different style of RPG that seems a bit un-Final Fantasy like... xD

There's a lot of emphasis on action and graphics, && for the most part there's not a lot of interaction between the player && the game in regards to the storyline (although FFXIII-2 somewhat changed this && allows the player to at least answer some dialogue questions).

I still think they are both awesome games, but I don't appreciate them as much as the previous, more "traditional" Final Fantasy games - like FFVII and FFIX, for instance. ^^;

that's exactly what i mean when i say people are comparing them to the older games... i mean come on its a different game and its going to be different... its not right... its just like wanting your youngest son to be just like the oldest... it's a new game so dont expect the older games... expect new

Hmm. While I get what you're saying, personally it's kinda difficult not to compare them, considering they're part of the same Final Fantasy video game series. If we were comparing other RPGs such as Persona or Tales of ___ vs. Final Fantasy, that'd be a different story && quite unfair since each of those series are unique in their own right.

However, I think it's only natural to compare the present games in a series with their "predecessors," y'know? ^^; Nothing wrong with that. && like I said, I still think FFXIII and FFXIII-2 are amazing games that are quite enjoyable to play. I think we're just considering how drastically different they are to the previous games, that's all. xD I certainly don't mind the new battle system - I'll take faster, strategy-based battles over slower, turn-based battles any day. :p

it just saddens me to see the hate because of the older games... XIII had a great story and great chars... sure the linearity was a little over the top but so was all the other FF games to an extant... i loved XIII-2 cause it was a great after story and i can see how it plays a part in the XIII line... its all just great but people dont take the time to realize it... they are too busy comparing it when its its own game... yes it says Final Fantasy on it but it still isnt supposed to be like the others
