How would you rate your writing skills?

Around 8.5 to 9/10. I make an attempt to strive for proper grammar and a point to all of my posts. The score may slightly dwindle a little due to some of my posts being a bit short.
I feel much the same way, save for the part in bold. For me, I'd change that to "turning in to vague waffle". I can sometimes find it hard to get across exactly what I want to say, so I'll run around in word circles for ages before I start to make sense and, in doing so, probably make my sentences sound less comprehensible.

...see? I could've just said that I waffle on about the same point for ages. :wacky:

I guess I'd rate myself as a 7/10. When I'm posting I tend to do a quick proof read so I can fix any obvious spelling mistakes. I know my grammar isn't perfect but it's comprehensible...at least I hope it is :wacky:

my typing (wirting skills)

for my typing skills i think i am a 7/10
for actually writing on paper ill will give my slef a 2/10
i am really good with typing when i know what to type about
but when i am writing on paper my hand writing is really bad
but i can spell really good lol :randompoke:

I'd probably give myself an 8/10. I strive to maintain correct spelling, good grammar, and use high diction, but I am often too reliant on Firefox's built in spell checker.
On actual paper, if I try to write neatly, I succeed, but when jotting down quick notes my writing is cryptic chicken scrawl.

At one time, I would have given myself a 8 or a 9 but not I am pretty much a six or four due to the fact that sometimes I forget the words I am typing down and also I believe I had made a few grammar errors. I also feel like I can put more words cown or learn more words so that I can increase my vocabulary. I type fast and sometimes I tend to overlook my posts and come with quite a few spelling errors.

I don't really pay that much attention when I'm writing on the forums or through messenger for that matter, but I love to write and do so quite often. From poetry to actual stories to the dreaded papers at school (ugh) I'd probably have to give myself an 8. There are still things that I need to work on.

I'm not quite sure what to rate myself... Maybe I'll know by the end of this post.

When I'm typing to people online, my grammar is generally good because it bothers me when it isn't, and I think my spelling is usually okay as well. I'm good at spelling words that I may not know, because of all the little rules to follow that may or may not work. I don't pay as much attention to what I'm saying when I'm posting in the SB as to when I'm posting in threads, and I don't pay as much attention to threads versus real writing.

When I'm writing a story or essay, I generally read it over half a dozen times at least, trying to catch any errors. A lot of times I'll be typing too fast and make an error that I don't catch at first, or leave out a word. Other times I'll type out a word that I don't even need. I'll replace one by accident... it's a horrible thing, but I don't know how to fix it. It's weird.

I'd give myself probably.. a 7.5 or an 8 out of 10.

As far as posting threads is concerned, I'd give myself an 8 out of 10. I don't put forth much effort when I'm just throwing a topic of conversation out there. I'll use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation, but there won't be much in terms of creativity.

If I'm working on a writing assignment or something of the sort, I'll work a little harder at making it an interesting read. Overall, I'd say I write extremely well. Since I'm awful with numbers and calculations, it's an even trade.

-5/1000 :P
Just kidding... I can at least write, right?

I'll say 3/10.
I am the type of person who like to come up with many ideas, but they stay in his head. While I consider myself quite good in creating character and plots (I could even rate myself 7/10 or 8/10 at that), but I just can't make them interesting when I write them.
I know at least two reasons why I am bad at writing:

1) Grammar: lol...
2) I am not reading much books and reading books can help a lot at writing

If I consider writing threads as "writing skills" , then at least I think that I am not that bad in it. But still, I think I can only make so long boring ones.
Thus, I usually add a poll with it :smartass:

I look over what I write constantly, which is why I'll say 8.5/10. Even when I check over my paragraphs at least 3 to 4 times each, I always seem to miss minor mistakes. They're not very noticeable, but I still strive to perfect everything, so I get agitated whenever I realize my mistake too late.

I would consider myself a modest 8/10 when it comes to writing/typing up posts on threads.

At University, when it comes to exams I struggle. HARD. I even flunked a couple this year, yet for assignments, reports, essays I usually get seconds and have had a couple of firsts so go figure.

While good spelling is a bit easier on the eye, there's nothing that irks me more than some wannabe elitist that feels the need to point out spelling errors or pretends he/she can't understand what is being read. Even people that can't spell properly can usually get their message across.

And Shu, I wouldn't worry about it. It's content that matters. Some people can have an encylopedic knowledge of words but if their posts are totally unoriginal, boring or self absorbed, then who want's to read that?

I have never used spell check on my posts. A good way of improving your grammar is to keep going without the need to use it. I also read a lot which I think also helps my spelling and creative writing ability.

'Nuff said.

I would rate myself a 9/10.

Whenever I post, I like to make sure that I've spelt every word correctly and use the correct punctuation wherever needed.

I don't like to rush my posts in order to just get it up on the board in order to increase my post count. I believe in quality over quantity and would rather a small amount of decent and readable posts over a bunch of second-hand-couldn't-give-a-shit posts.

I want people to understand me and not have to try and figure out if 'I meant to write what I posted', when they come across a spelling mistake or grammatical error.

I think I could improve on better use of words in my posts in order to sound a little smarter though. XD

I'll give myself a 5/10. My grammar and vocabulary are up there, but it's my composition that usually hurts me quite a bit. Looking back on all the threads I've ever posted, I notice sentence that sound really awkward and sound really stupid, so, hence the grade.

I'm fickle.
I can't rate my writing and be happy with the number I chose.
But in all honesty, I'm a great writer when it comes to stories. I mean, I don't think I'm a great writer, I think I'm alright. But I've won awards and it's rare for someone to not compliment my stories after reading one. It's given me confidence and I have to admit, I have improved.

As for posting in threads? .5/10
I don't know how to get a point across or give out my entire opinion. It's very difficult for me and it's definitely something I need to work on. The only time I can truly express myself is if I'm angry. My emotions spill out and guide my fingers to the appropriate letters on the keyboard. My emotions do a good job at rapid pace, too.

My writing skillz are odd to say the least sometimes when I'm done writing I can't really read it. I have good grammar and vocabulary and the threads I've posted in so far are a little awkward cause I'm not good at making elaborate posts so I try and force myself to think of more to say and I just end posting something that doesn't make any snse at all so...

I dunno maybe 6/10 somewhere around there.

I'm gonna say a 6.5/10. In order for it to look like someone intelligent wrote it, I have to take a long time and think hard about what I'm trying to say.

6/10

Yes, I'm able to write coherent sentences, but I'm not able to get that literary "gold" that stirs the reader, IMO. I reread my work at least twice before doing any posting (not just on FFF), and I find a few mistakes with every read.

Sometimes I feel that the initial descriptions that I write are uninteresting, boring, and difficult to understand, so I have to always pay special attention to this area when writing.

I've been told that some of my work is OK, but nothing I've been told hints at it being good. Hence the score.

4/10 I write alot better than I can type thats for sure, but you would most likely have a hard time reading it and understand it. Now when it comes to to cursed writing im a 2/10 you dont wanna know hoe bad it is not even joking :(

About 8/10.

Yes, though I like to berate people for their incorrect grammar (and you deserve it too because "your" is not the same as "you're"), I don't rate myself as being perfect. Even I often come across something about my grammar that I find incomprehensibly odd whenever I proof-read my posts or written pieces. I've often been told that I love making my sentences unnecessarily long. I know I had nearly sixty words in one sentence at one instance (I think this was a vital piece of English Literature coursework), which seemed amusing to me, it did piss off the teacher for some reason. I also have a habit of repeating words in a sentence or redundantly using multiple words with the same meaning.

For example: "Lately I just haven't been feeling very well recently" or "Anyway, I've been thinking of getting my own car at long last anyway..."

I can't physically include a word if I'm unsure of its meaning or spelling. I have to be one hundred percent sure with both before it goes in, else it would incessantly bug me later on. My vocabulary is substantial I suppose. I'm not Shakespeare on that kind of level, but it's more advanced than probably most people here :-)wacky:).
