I hate Twilight!

*puts awaaaaaaaaaaay the tentacles*
For me, the whole thing about getting beaten up during brutal vampire sex and then becoming pregnant with a hybrid human/vampire baby creature that's feeding on her from the inside-out, plus what was probably a very nasty "delivery", was a little bit too much for my tastes.

Oh yeah, and Jacob crushing on this ugly new creature.

People who hate Twilight are poeple who used to like Twilight before it got overrated. Now they want to be different and say "Hey, let's hate Twilight"
You cannot be a true hater if you don't even know what's the story about. People like that don't give a damn.

I've never read Twilight, and I don't think I'd like it, but I don't think people should outright say they hate it. Then again, I've never read the book, so I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, whether for bad OR good.

Stephanie Myer is a dumb bitch, and all of her Twilight books belong on fanfiction.net.

can you put some more thought into your posts please? Maybe elaborate as to why you think she is a dumb bitch and why you feel her work belongs on fanfiction.net?

Ta very muchly

I really cannot stand Twilight at all. I read the entire first book 'for the lulz' as my ruse, but I did try and take it seriously. Previous to that I had tried reading the first chapter and gave up, but I decided to give it a fair and full chance. I have to say that it was absolute rubbish. The Author abuses words, isn't very descriptive at all, and the entire thing is just bland and dull. What is she teaching young teens these days? That you should be desperate for sex? Bella is nothing special, and she's a painful self insertion. It's horrible to read every guy fall in love with her, even though she's an 'ordinary girl' that complains about practically everything.

The love story (if it can be called that) is random and has NO substance. It just happens. I don't understand how this is promoting true love and literature, when the Author herself admits that she didn't expect to be popular, and didn't try at all when she was writing these stories. She has a warped sense of Vampires- if they can even be called that. They sparkle, for Gods sake.

To be honest, I don't really care that much about Twilight. Sure, I get tired of constantly hearing about it as fangirls squeal about any and everything related to it, but I get equally tired of hearing people bashing it like it's the spawn of Satan. It's just a work of fiction, and as boring as my opinion is, considering I'm indifferent, all I can say is that if you like it, good, read it, and enjoy it! If you don't like it, well, do something else that you enjoy, and forget about it!

I've never read it, so I don't have much room to talk, and I don't particularly plan on reading it, simply because it doesn't really match my interests.

Okay, to elaborate:
Stephanie Meyer is a dumb bitch because she somehow was able to do what 12 year old girls have been doing for decades and make millions off it: write a shitty story with no substance, imagining herself as a skinny perfect normal high school girl who meets a HOT VAMPIRE!!!!!!!!!11111111111111111 and they fall flawlessly in love. Using the same fucking adjectives over and over again, making Edward the worst character ever, and generally just being sub-par at writing. Her writing does not deserve this much attention or money. It's fucking ridiculous. It's like a big, awful fanfiction, and it deserves to be treated as such.

If you ask me, I think Twilight was a good book in it's own ways.

Personally I prefer Vampires to be all RAWR! and suck your blood and be all scary like because that's the vampires I love BUT there's also nothing wrong with trying a different approach.

Guys keep in mind that Vampires are a MYTH. And if they are actually real, NOBODY knows what they're like.. we are allowed to use our imagination every once in awhile and try something new. It's a way to allow people to see a new light to things but in saying this there was probably one thing I absolutely detested.

How fast they fell in love. Srsly. Especially in the movie it was just like ==; I HATED the movie.. srsly just hated it.

I did hear that this book was written to counteract Harry Potter but if you ask me Harry Potter held more imagination. Both books have their own ups and downs. Either way fangirls annoy the hell outta me.. I don't like Edward but Jacob is teh awesome! Only because he's a werewolf. :wacky:

Fuck, my avatar holds more imagination than Twilight.

LOL! well.. Twilight has imagination just not a strong depth of it. I'm not a complete lover of Twilight nor am I a hater. I just enjoy it because it's there.

I must ask, have you read the Host?

and also.. hopefully people don't judge Twilight by the movie.. because I've read and seen them both.. and like I stated before the movie wasn't at all good. To me at least.

..I need to start a Silent Hill movie thread because that I could rant on about for hours. I hate that movie with a damn passion.

After attempting to make it through the actual book of Twilight, and then sitting through the awful motion film while listening to 6 preteens sitting directly behind me scream their fucking asses off because, OMG, EDWARD, the whole time, I don't think I'm going to be giving Stephanie Meyer another chance to please me. Ever.

Oh man, I know how you feel. I can not stand fangirls. I can absolutely not tolerate them at all! You had a worst off experience then me I believe.. all that went wrong during the movie was the projector crapped out and we were in the dark for 10mins before they fixed the damn thing.

I feel for you, seriously. Oh well, Twilight is being replaced with the new Harry Potter movie and the new Transformers movie so meh!
..though I probably will see the next few films, only because I've read the books.

Ah, please do. The movie paled in comparison to the games by far. (Though Cybil looked SPOT ON)

When my Ex-Boyfriend and I were dating, we went to see Twilight together because he was a fan and I had to suffer through it all. I remember he got mad at me for making cynical remarks, lol. But I just couldn't help it. Fangirls of any fandom that will start fights with you over nothing, are just down right irritating. I don't get them, either.

Do something better with your time, I say. XD

I totally agree with you Eva! Cybil looked great but sadly, SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE DIED.. okay time to make this into a thread so it's relevant and we can discuss the failures of the movie! :wacky:

While I admit that the story itself is conceptually fair in that it takes a very interesting twist on the cliche vampire, I feel that the books have absolutely no literary value what-so-ever. Even its fans should be able to admit to that.

why was was first post deleted,i swear these mods are robots out to get me,but a block of chees holds more intelligence, the movie and book are so cliche, girl realises dude is vampire, dud falls for girl, girl falls for friend, girls long friend is a werewolf and hates dude for being a vampire, and dude hate each other because thats how it is,now friend tries to steal girl from dude, dude and friend get in big fight, one of them dies at the end and claims girls heart

I just moved your post to the appropriate section, as it was about the movie. If you look in the Twilight thread in The Home Theatre you will see your post in all of its glory.

Twilight is just plain horrible. I didn't think too badly of it at first until I started to think it over for a few weeks. That's when I realized how utterly cliche the story really was. Seriously, it's just a badly written love story that gives TRUE VAMPIRES a bad name (there's just no way I can consider Edward a vampire......too shameful). Also, after my cousin told me about the end of the book (and I read it to confirm it), I realized that everyone got some type of happy ending!! It just doesn't work that way. It's like the author is saying that love always wins out in the end, when it doesn't. Honestly, I don't think I've ever hated a book this much before, and the movie just made it look worse.

Psychic Vampires that drive fast, that's all I got out of the story. Oh! And that whole I love you, make me vampy! thing to.

Anyway. I hate Twilight. It's like the new Gossip Girls only Gossip Girls had at least SOME realism to it. Whether you believe in Vampires or not and so on and so forth the fact of the matter is this: Those Vamps in Twilight aren't Vampires.

I've never been one to ride the popularity train though. I still hate Napoleon Dynamite.

Just another tween addiction that'll blow over in a few years, I hope. I certainly don't want my kids to have this junk around growing up.

Vampires have been portrayed in all forms of art for centuries as symbols of ruin, sorrow, regret and solitude, and given human dispositions by which we can relate, be fascinated by and comprehend that vampires have, essentially, been a manifestation of our desires and dark perversions.

Just like God, vampires are everything a human wants to be, but without the hindrances-as such, the main concept of most classical vampire tales is how wrong a perception that is.

That said, Twilight sucks, as it discards what essentially defines the vampire and replaces it for cheesy and superficial romance schemes and pretty humans who probably don't know what the land beyond the forest is.
It's just another teen attraction, with no real substance whatsoever.

Not in regards to the true vampire, anyways.

Some day it will die and be forgotten, just like how we laugh at neon coloured hats and parachute pants today.

And yet, they'll still be making Dracula movies long after I die, I'm sure.

Ah, Twilight...

When it was introduced to me, I never conceived of how popular it would become. It was a few months before the movie came out and I had honestly never heard of the series before. The girl I was talking to couldn't stop recommending it, so I picked it up eagerly. I read through it, appreciating the simplistic style which allowed for a quick read, and when I finished, I put it down like any other book.

The single worst thing that could have happened to Twilight is the fanbase. The fangirls scare me but this isn't really fair to them. It isn't Twilight's fault; it isn't Meyers'; it isn't particularly the fans, but some forces came together and propelled it, hype and a decent fanbase pushing it forward to more eyes. More attention means more negative attention.

People hate on it like it's a sport, but personally, having no idea of the hype behind it, I was able to just dismiss it. No, I didn't care for it; I told my friend it wasn't my deal, but I didn't hate it. For its genre, for its target audience, I think it's perfect. Teen girl falls in love with perfect guy and he's a vampire. If that's what you're looking for, by all means read it.

The only problem I see is the messages it sends. Bella is dependent, completely, and a bit useless on her own. She forgives things Edward and others do to her and just keeps furthering her own idea of herself in a world that disagrees with it. The problem is that girls are going to receive this message, consciously or otherwise, and take it to heart. I have no problem with more people reading the books, I just think they should be aware there is much better literature out there. Meanwhile, I'm just kind of waiting for the hype to die down. Like anything else, its glimmer will fade.
