If you were boss of Square-Enix

I'd get Sakaguchi involved in the Final Fantasy franchise again in some capacity.

I'd rehire Amano and put him back in charge of Final Fantasy's art direction.

I'd fire Nomura.

I'd change the company focus from quantity to quality.

I'd rehire Matsuno and move Final Fantasy Tactics away from the handhelds and back to the home consoles.

And finally I'd commission a new Chrono game...

I'd fire Nomura.

See, everyone's whose said this, I can't agree with this sentiment. You get rid of Nomura, you effectively destroy a decent chunk of S-E's profits in a snap.

Sure, not everyone will like his character designs (although I love 'em myself. Loads ♥) but he does much more than character art.

Generally speaking, I believe Kingdom Hearts (the series that Nomura has closely worked on) is the third big money maker for Square-Enix next to Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest :hmmm:

I've often said he's the main reason why I still stick with Square-Enix for games. If he did ever leave or get fired (if S-E was currently stupid enough to do such a thing), than I probably will dump S-E and look at the company Nomura would eventually start up on his own :awesome:

I'd just use Nomura for character designs........

But story-wise I'd re-hire Sakaguchi...........to me the only thing Nomura can do is good character designs..........if he directs another FF I'm sure it will be a fail!

And if he did start up his own company I don't think it will ever be as good as SE...........I mean look at Sakaguchi since he left he's not done anything recognizable or popular.........wonder how last story will be like?

I just think Sakaguchi is too overrated as well. If he ever returns to Square Enix to take the Final Fantasy series in his reigns again, I doubt that it would lead to that much. All he would probably do is take out the sci-fi elements of the newer games and take the next game back to a steampunk or medieval setting - a more traditionalist setting. This may sound good to those who loved FFIX (like myself), but that alone does not a good FF game make. As mentioned, his projects in Mistwalker haven't been that remarkable or amazing. I doubt that his sudden return to SE would change that. So I wouldn't be too quick to hire him back.

I would kick out Wada though. The man's sitting on the executive chair basically talking crap occasionally while taking SE through a controversial westernisation direction.

As for Nomura....well, I have continued faith in him seeing as he's the last great figure that SE sort of has. His character designs are hit and miss for me. Some are just uninspired and samey. But, I'm hoping that through his direction, he can deliver with Versus and Agito. His direction with the KH games appear to be mainly positive, so I've no reason to oppose the man either.

That's the beauty of this thread though isn't it? It's all theoretical so I don't really have to worry about whether firing Nomura would make a dent in profits or not. Much the same way as I didn't see anyone muse over who would be part of the executive board, what retail outlets they'd focus on, or where production would happen in the future.

I said I'd focus on quality over quantity and in my opinion Nomura has never made anything decent as a director and hasn't done anything remotely inspiring as an artist since Final Fantasy X. He's far from the only one I'd get rid of, but to me he represents a lot of what's wrong with Square today.

But in the theoretical situation where YOU are boss at Square, by all means, keep him ;)

Also another thing I would get rid of childish and comical things..............

I know some people enjoy them and I respect that...............(I think it's just who I am)

Like a good example would be in X........(I'm not a hater it's one of my favourite FF's)

the laughing scene in Luca.....

where Tidus and Yuna just decide to laugh all of a sudden...........these things are pointless and childish..........I know some people think it's one of the best part of the game............but who'd just laugh all of a sudden?

And also I'd get rid of childish characters like Hope,Vanille,Quina..........the younger characters seem to be annoying.......(don't know quina's age though)

But of course some are alright like Vivi...........
