League of Roleplayers

A small side note to those relevant: I may or may not be slow in responding to the existing RPs that I'm in. Just trying to clear up some stuff at home to prepare for a move so I may either lack the time or forget to post.

It probably won't be anything major, so I didn't bother to post into the specific RP's discussion threads.

That, and just out of curiosity. I might have asked this before but anyway, I'll ask again:

Assuming you guys do create maps for your role plays... How do you make them? Do you use a software to help you? Or do you hand-draw those maps?

I just created a map for one of my role plays the other week, i used paint, it came out alright, not the best but it still looked like a map and was clear etc.

I like to draw them by hand. It's really fun... but the downside is that I don't have a scanner. So, I can't ever upload them and use them.

For my maps I just hand drew them, scanned them, and then added extra's like text, icons, etc. with Photoshop. Paint or Gimp is just as effective.

This place looks dead =D

Anyway, was just chillin' and stuff when I realised I miss RP'ing. So I will be around for a few days and see if I find anything cool to join ;)

Same here! Just completed my examinations a few days back. So I should be relatively free for the next few months or so... enough to occupy myself with role plays.

I'm also kind of keen to start a role play myself... High fantasy, swords, shields, magic. I wonder if anyone else would be keen..?

Hmm ... I actually miss all the heavy fantasy stuff. But if I was to join, it would depend on the setting. Some original setting would be rather neat.

At the same time I have been thinking of reviving The guild of mages as a new RP. While I have mixed feelings about the ranks of the mages etc. I do agree it could be one way to grant the feel for accomplishments and would be a way to measure characters growth. On the other hand, I don't like restrictions or frames for high fantasy stuff. And I do believe that most of the players I know wouldn't godmod so I guess the official limits are not that necessary. But what I really fancy about the guild of the mages is the setting. It's not about the ultimate goal of saving a princess from a dragon. Think of guild of mages as of cowboy bebop or more as of Gintama, where (yeah, cowboy bebop builds up to a final conlcusion, but I still hope you get what I mean) most of the episodes are about great small yet random stories. And then all of a sudden your nose gets smashed in by the most awesome anime story arcs ever. And once that's over, the random arcs can continue, because this surprise story was never meant to be the ultimate conclusion or goal. But elsewhere, when you beat the dragon and save the princess ( or find that princess is in the next castle), things can start dragging on, new ideas will be hard to find and eventually things can wear itself out. And even if it doesn't ( thinking of my own FF IX rp) wear itself out and gets as epic as things can get in terms of scale, once the final conclusion comes ( for example, the war gets done), there is nowhere were to continue to, because the main story is over and we would just end up telling a story of a spin-off like FF X-2 which was more about gameplay. I as a RP'er fancy stories more than the gameplay so ye.
Man ... came out longer than I expected. Anyways, in the end what I meant is that guild of mages can be used as an awesome platform for missions and quests of high fantasy and absolutely lovely stories could be written while there would always be the place where to return to.

Anyways, I'm keen on waiting for your ideas about anything and everything :D

Yea I was glad to see you back! ^^ The rp section has slowed down a b more but luckily others have returned! I think you should make another fear RP like the one with the train that didn't get started. We've yet to have a successful one of those. =P Welcome back.

Well to be honest, if I will be unable to restart the train one I have a few other ideas up my sleeve that would scare poop out of yar pants =D Real dark stuff, but a tad bit more stereotypical horror than the train one. But that's only when the train won't start.

It's crazy to see how much the RP community has depleted - it used to be thriving around here. I've been itching to get into it again, but feel that I'm very limited to RP's based around FFVII, VIII or IX to a lesser extent.

That being said, I was seriously thinking of creating an RP named 'Balamb Garden' It was an RP that was up and running a couple of years back, possibly on another board, but it was really enjoyable. I was really proud of it - it was quite successful.

The thing is, I don't want to put a lot of hours into it if I know it will inevitably fail. So, would people possibly be interested?
By previous experiences, I've found that you don't need a huge number of participants for an RP to be fantastic. Obviously, you need a few, but the quality really does outweigh the quantity.

Hmm ... I would be interested in everything. At the same time I have discovered something called time management and thanks to that I know how much free time I would have to spare for RP's. As I'm an engineering student, semi-professional musician and do plenty of sports as hobbies, my spare time resources are not vast. Therefore I could only handle 1 to 2 RP's.
Lately I have been starving for fantasy to an extinct where I have been thinking of dozens of different scenarios in my head while walking on the streets or when in the poop-a-loo =D But I need my thoughts to stick to industrial processeses, so I guess the only other option to satisfy my fantasy needs is to take part of a fantasy RP. ( Of course I could play some video-games, but I tend to get addicted to those and become unable to study). Anyways, my point was that I would join 1 fantasy, preferably high fantasy, RP. A second one would probably be something original, like my horror RP if I would be able to restart it.

While I definately like FF VII, FF VIII and love FF IX, I would prefer some other fantasy setting, something more original. The best RP's I have taken part of have been based on those 3 games, so every time I join another one of FF VII, VIII or IX, I feel them dull and done compared to my favorite ones. But if there will be no other good ideas for a fantasy RP, I would still join yours, even if it would be bout FF VIII. And of course, being a veteran ( Uh ... first time I call myself veteran ... but I'm getting old ya know) RP'er, or at least a wannabe, you can always count on my experience and skill and know for sure that once I join a RP, I won't be half-assed about it and will contribute as much as I'm capable of, even if the setting might not be my favorite.

Speaking of time management, I seriously need to master that art. :D Things were just falling apart with the lack of it, but fortunately, perseverance does help out lot there.

Now... Speaking of High Fantasy RP. I've an idea here... Nothing's confirmed yet, so it's still subject to change. Feel free to offer more ideas there.

I have to admit that I quite fancy your idea. A RP that could potentially make it to the end might motivate people to try their hardest to keep RP'ing till the finish.

It seems that yours is the best option for now. Nevertheless, I will still keep my eyes open for any other potent ideas or RP's.
Oh and I even have two interesting characters in mind.

I'm interested in making another RP in the future to replace Afterlife if that one doesn't work out but I'd need someone to work on it with. I keep getting RP ideas but there's not enough active rpers to roleplay them to the end >.< Also wouldn't mind a bit more help in working on Eureka Academy as well...but I dunno if that one will go up if the RP section stays so dead. Luckily it looks like things are picking up more ^_^. Would anyone want to make a league RP or something? Like a group of us getting together, pooling our ideas into one we can agree on and RP that out? I think it's been done before but I think if a good group of four people who pour a lot of thought into an idea they would be more inclined to finish an RP. Any thoughts/opinions on this idea? ^^

It actually sounds good. And I'm completely free for the entire month. So yeah, PM me or the other thing. Visitor Message? I don't mind a league role play either. Though I guess labeling it as such doesn't really make much of a difference. Pooling in the ideas does count for something more though.

Im here if anyone needs rpers. I just flopped a job interview cuz my ear went belly up and i only got three sujbects this sem, so i got time. The christmas hit this section hard with people just disappearing completely.

Solid and I seem really interested in Fantasia, so at least thats one active.

Afterlife is lagging behind cuz of one or two characters.

Eureka, im afraid, wont kick off unless we get a substantial turn out for it and we keep it on a more backboned storyline. Free roaming is nice and all, but we get stuck on two days, maybe three.

Btw oli, for crystalius, we can take it slow since most of the players dont mind, so dw about that one.

Well ... I would love to help but I'm unaware of the free time I will have once I start working, which is in end of April. Therefore I don't really want to commit myself and hundreds of hours only to find out that I can't actually post much for 6 months. But once I'll know how much free time I will have while working, I will see if I can join RP's and create ones.
