Luck?

I know that Luck in FFVII increases a better chance to manipulate monsters.

I think Luck also effects a higher chance of stealing an item quicker.

I'm sure higher luck increases your chances of stealing rarer items and recieving them as an reward at the end of a battle in X, as well as getting the critical hit (aka OVERKILL)

Talk about a necropost. o_O

Luck, by its own definition, should do with finding rare items or saving you. Seriously.

I was talking about the FFVII materia. It luck DOES give you a better chance to manipulate monsters actually.

Getting a critical hit doesn't give you an overkill

Well if an enemy has 129 HP and you get a critical hit for 2960 HP, that's definitely an overkill. :P Just because the game doesn't flash 'OVERKILL!!' in neon pink letters doesn't mean it's not an overkill. That being said, I love overkills, and thus I love the Luck stat. :D

*ahhh luck the mysterious stat that seems to be utterly useless..but wait something has entered my mind and made me remember :)

*luck is for the critical hits in battle for a direct attack :) yep since i played FF1 in SNES it was a big factor to have luck inorder to produce more damage :) but nowadays luck seems to be a nuisance :XD:

*ive remembered in some final fantasy games, cant remember what version but it was connected to how much a special attack and how many hits can produce :)

*luck also has a rate for evading or blocking in final fantasy tactics :) very handy if you had high luck then hed be a ghost totally getting miss attacks on enemies :)

*thats all, hope it was all accurate :)

Luck is really handy if you want to steal a rare item from your enemy. And if you're fighting a boss, there is less chance for it to attack you with it's most powerful blast.

For example, if you were attacked by a Malboro in FFX it would release "Bad Breath" on you at the beggining of the battle. If your luck is high enaugh it won't do it.
Same applies if you cast Jinx on your enemies.

It's probably the only facotr I've never really paid attention to in FF games solely for the fact that I can't really control it. Sure I can try to get my luck up to 255, but for some reason that stat always seems to be the hardest to raise in FF games.

THen again, I think it only controls the occurances of somethings such as what enemies appear, how hard you hit and how much you hit for when attacking, and jazz like that.

luck affects things like if you get status affects what items u get at end of battle things like that

Luck can also increase your chance of citical hit and deal greater damage to foes.

The ability Luck from FFX also increased Luck, I managed to get Rikku learn that one and had her use it non-stop on the Bevile Guardan boss on the airship, that combined with Jinx from Kimarhi and He almost never hit me, the only time he did, was with that Posion breath of his.

You mean that Luck can also make enemies not attack you? I have not noticed...

Yeah Luck slightly increases you evasion rate, and Reflex does too, So if you use those two and cast Jinx and darkness of the Guardian of Bevile, he'll almost never hit you.

hey didnt know where to put this but i am sking for help.

in all FF games one of the stats is luck. i always thaight it was a factor in critical attacks and so didnt really bother with this trait, however i read somewhere in these forums that increases luck can help you win chocobo racing in ff7

so what im askinbg is what exactly does luck do in each of the games and is it worth upgrading?

Luck is Luck, it increases almost if not everything in the game %. Stealing rate, Drop rate, Critical hits, chances of evading etc... So Yeah Luck is one of the most important factors in any game, not just Final Fantasy (when they have the same meaning).

It don't help you win them.
Luck effect everything in the series if you are luckier then you will be more prone to receive good things if you have little luck you will be more prone to receive bad things.
like it the quest to get the underwater materia if you have bad luck the monster will be more prone to throw away your members.
Also you hit and miss rate if you have very high luck but not so good hit ability then you will be able to hit even when blinded. (kinda surprised me too)

seeing as we already have a topic on Luck, and this is prettymuch an identical discussion,I may aswel merge them ^^

Threads Merged

As the others above said it involves many factors, its something i always over look, ive never thought of it being that important really. I know now thats probadly the reason why i seldom got critical hits.

sorry didnt see the other discussion

so luck doesnt effect anything outside of battle?

I don't think luck affects anything outside of battle.

What I'd like to know is whether luck improves the chances of getting a rare drop from a monster in FFX, because if that's the case, then getting Dark Matters would be easier, since they are rare drops from Monster Arena enemies. Can anyone confirm/deny this? Someone who has raised their luck stat a lot?
