The new battle system is so much better than the previous FFs...! It's a little tricky at first, but the gambits make everything a whole lot easier! Anyone else love the new system?

I love being able to just wander around..and see the monsters just going about their daily business - and then coming across them and kicking their arses XD

i like the new battle system too. I hope they do the same for XIII

I'm really hoping this improves. I've not exactly played with it for long, but I despise it. I've despised it since I saw a Japanese cut of Vaan fighting one of the Judges. Can't stand it thusfar, but I think I'll try to be reasonable and give it a chance. Painful as it is...

Gambits? GAMBITS? >>; I hate those... x3

Battle system though, automatic win! I really like the whole new style.. :3 Instead of the "random encounters" which were seriously, going to be the death of me. >>;

The Battle System is weak in this game...Gambits are really useful though, The License Grid thingy is completely un-needed and very annoying.

Hmm, I actually love the battle-system. However, the License board is a bit time consuming. You buy weapons, then you have to make sure that you have enough license point in order to unlock the weapons in the grid before you can actually use it.

Well, my problem with it is that sometimes I don't know where that certain weapon is located! I have to blindly find it by using my LP points and pray that the one I unlock is where the weapon is located at...and then get mad when it's not. >.< (Of course, this gets easier towards the mid-end of the game because then most of the licenses' are opened, and you'll have more extra LP points to spare and mess around with the grid.)

Anyway, so what I do now is use the guide and check the License Grid Table so I can pinpoint exactly where the weapon's located. (See, guides help you too and doesn't have to be a form of cheating at all. :P) I kinda agree that the license board is unnecessary.

Gambits are actually quite helpful though, IMO. I don't have to quickly heal or use remedy items in the heat of battle - the characters does it on their own if you set your gambits according to your fighting style. Genius right there! :)

to tell you the truth at first i hated the new battle system, it was horrible and i wasnt used to it at all i didnt see the point in running around waiting to attack when 3 monsters are attacking you simultainiously.
but when i figured out how to use the gambit system along with the battle mode it got a whole lot easier. :)

The battle system is great...lots to love in my eyes, I always hated being in one of those moods where you just wanted to run through to a boss or to a save point without fighting monsters and then the random encounters just makes it way too long...this way I just hold r2 down and sprint, so fun!

My one complaint about the license board is it made it too easy for me...when I first played it once I figured out the quickenings I didnt go for any armor I just right away got 3 quickenings for all my characters, basically I looked at a boss and didnt care about what level he was or any strategy, I just saw his HP and one shotted him (or two shotted him sometimes)...of course that was just at the start, but it ruined it for me that run through so I had to go restart and do it all properly.

lol thats kinda funny. May this be a lesson to all who try to neglect proper equipment.

I like the way you get into battle! I dislike the way it takes forever to level up! I like the Gambits, but am still a bit muddled my them, and I totally hate the fact that I dont seem to have an overdrive/limitbreak, I hate having to be licensed to use magic and accessories . . . erm . . . Ooooh I love the FF7 music playing lol .... and I like the fact that Ashe looks like Yuna. I hate hate hate, the werewolves when Im on level 3 and they hit me for 130 hp! I like the way mp goes up as you walk around.
I so far looooooove the graphics.
Will come back and let you know after I have a proper boss battle lol

Im loving the new game totally. The way you see the beasties before you kick their asses is great :D Gambits, totally handy, especially when Ashe joins your party and she heals your party constantly.

props :)

It takes ages to level up, and that is pretty annoying... But gambits make everything a whole lot easier when you understand how to use them.

I like the battle system though I don't feel comfortable with Gambits. I don't like the idea of having it easy (this also goes for Quickenings... Quickenings allow me to kill a boss before they even become a challenge - and thats when they are low on HP... this doesn't apply to later fiends however since some just have a rediculous amount of HP...).

But im just that kinda guy, im sort of an elitist when it comes to games these days. Take fighting games for example (sorry for slightly going off-topic here, but im going to try and make a point). Fighting Games based off of anime's have no debt and style, no high/low game, its brain dead. Games like Street Fighter and Tekken are technical as hell and I love games that are difficult like that, though from a typical gamers point of view Street Fighter and Tekken is just that... a fighting game "let me button mash the shit out of it i'll probably get lucky and win" = "Let me activate gambits since im too damn lazy to control my characters!". Blah... anyway yeah... battle system is ok, I guess Gambits are useful for when you gotta get off the controller for a minute and dont wanna pause it :P

whats your point?

I love the new battle system very refreshing and the gambits are very usefull for non-main characters. But the license board is just stupid. I know some people dont like the gambit system but the fact you can turn it on and off as well as step in and re-direct at any time is great (at least for me). I can focus on what attacks or magiks i want to use while Fran heals my whole party, or counters Sleep Silence ect...without so much as a touch of a button. Theres just so many ways you can set it up **tears in eyes** its just... Awesome^_^

I love the battle system ^_^ and gambit's are a great addittion to the game IMO

I agree that it does seem to take forever to level up especially at the start of the game but once you know how to use the gambit system it's alot easier ^_^

I also kinda like the license board it sort of reminds me of FFX's sphere grid the way that you have control over who learns what ^_^
