I’m posting the bio I was making before the RP was put on hold. It’s for my recovering blood-addict vampire detective.
First things first, if it’s not what you’re looking for let me know and I can change it.
Also, don’t judge too harshly on the images. I just prefer to imagine and design my own characters than use an image from the internet, even if the drawings suck (that wasn’t meant to be a pun! ).
Also note that the image is of him baring his teeth and looking rather angry. He wouldn’t quite look that furious on happy days.
Finally... I had difficulty coming up with names that fitted the asian-style scene, but according the google translate for Chinese (which I know shouldn't be trusted) I've come up with a few names which sound somewhat fitting but can be changed if they sound silly / look odd to people who can speak real Chinese here.
---
Name: Xue-Yin (real name), Gaibian (current alias).
Gender: Male
Age: Between repression and amnesia he has lost count. In human terms he would appear as a young man in his mid twenties, but in reality is in his mid-200s.
Race: Vampire.
Job: Private detective.
Appearance: Snake-like wavy black hair.
A long black moustache which hangs from his face down to his chest.
A black goatee.
Fierce blood-red eyes.
A face which is deathly white.
Black top and bottoms, with red thread on the wrists spelling out “horse” and “ox” in Chinese (apparently – let me know if this is erroneous, if it even matters).
Black boots.
Black gloves.
Sword-whip belt (see weapons).
Holster for his gun (see weapons).
His business partner looks a bit like this (though obviously not as ridiculous ):
Personality:
As a former gang member and blood addict, he was once ruthless and bloodthirsty, and had habitually murdered members of rival criminal gangs, guards and anyone else who stood in his way. He would also show off to his fellow gang members in various twisted and gory ways.
Now, as Gaibian, he is making amends for his dark past. He is calm, intelligent, friendly and polite. He is, however, also deeply disturbed and haunted by himself. Flashes of his past smack him in the face every day, and he constantly has to deal with this.
He can be quite quiet, but speaks when he needs to. His business partner, by comparison, is very chatty and more of a people person.
Xue / Gaibian is very fond of animals, but is forced to drink the blood of animals in order to stop himself from craving the blood of humans.
Despite his new alias which he introduces himself as to other people, when he thinks of himself he is very much still Xue. Gaibian is a fiction, and is his attempt at self-therapy, yet every day he comes face-to-face with the harsh realities of Xue.
Fighting Style: In serious skirmishes Xue uses his pistol - combined with his heightened senses, strength and occasional use of magic. He generally tries to avoid fighting, as he tries to avoid drawing blood. If possible he would prefer to use hand-to-hand combat and knock his opponent out.
Weapon: Urumi–style flexible sword whip (though he rarely uses it due to the amount of blood it could create, and keeps it on him disguised as a belt), custom-made pistol (decorated with a large vampire skull and rubies ingrained into it to give the appearance of blood drops falling from the mouth).
History:
A former blood addict and once part of a large and organised criminal gang of vampires originating overseas (Skull Bloods) who took to the streets to drain the blood of humans for pleasure, and also trafficked women and humans for blood and pleasure. In his youth he committed many crimes which haunt him today. He was dragged into this life by his criminal brother, and whilst originally reluctant to drink blood he was forced to try it by other members of his brother’s gang. The gang swiftly rose to become one of the most feared criminal groups, with Xue-Yin a keen player. There appeared to be no boundaries for the gang. Xue had become a blood addict.
He spent a lot of time pimping vampire prostitutes, and then biting and draining the blood of any clients who were disrespectful to the prostitutes, or refused to pay up. Xue also drained the blood of rival gang members, and city guards.
He had evaded the law and night guards for many years through concealing his identity – which was renowned and feared across the vampire criminal underground, but not made public to the guards and enforcers of the law. His name was known, as were the myths, but a decent description of him had never been gathered.
One day his brother, angry that Xue’s notoriety and influence in the vampire underground may one day rival his own, set him up for a clumsy massacre. He had Xue meet him in a room at a time dangerously close to sunrise, and then ambushed him and cuffed him to a pole in a room full of murdered human children (all blood-drained by his brother, a sight which horrified Xue, and made him reflect upon his lifestyle). He was arrested, tortured and imprisoned for a life-long sentence. It was while he was in prison that he had developed a real and genuine conscience for what he had done. The murdered children were burned into his mind for eternity.
A decade later, at a prison break, Xue was able to escape. He changed his appearance and set out to undo his wrongs, and sought revenge and justice on his brother. He faked his death and then re-entered town as a new man with a new look, and a new name (Gaibian).
He arrived as a detective with a fictional background of experience, a young human business partner who fully believed in him, and a pet ox and horse. Xue / Gaibian was set to deal with both criminal and paranormal cases.
When Xue had returned to the city he learned that his brother had been overthrown by another vampire lord of crime, but learned that his brother was still alive somewhere in the streets.
Xue / Gaibian still has thirst for blood, as he is a recovering addict. He doesn’t take to killing people for blood now, but will steal animals to drink from on occasion. He also regularly drinks from his pet ox and horse, though he is careful not to drain more than they can replace. Sometimes when he comes across a corpse he would drain that of blood too. He knows, though, that the more he does it, the stronger the thirst will be. He tries to stop entirely, but that corrupts his thinking as a detective and his body reacts heavily to it due to his addiction. He fears that any day soon he could find himself draining the blood of a human again.
Xue / Gaibian is now haunted by nightmares containing lots of blood, each one either tempting him back to his former life, or reliving the sorts of scenarios Xue had hoped to forget forever.
