On my playthrough the first time I played I picked warrior warrior rmage rmage. I beat the game like that when I was a kid. Now I pick Warrior, White Mage, Black Mage, Monk/Thief. The new way is easier.

I chose a thief,white mage,warrior, and black mage. I wanted two to fight and two to use magic. When I play it again,I'll probably choose the same party. I loved that party. ;p

Red Mage ~ Red Wizard

I got to around level 70 after beating the boss.

PS: I played the GBA Dawn of Souls version

Might as well chime in. My first playthrough was with a fighter, a black mage, a white mage, and another white mage.

You can never have too much healing!

and this definitely worked out great.

i went foolish and chose all white mages took a sht load of lvls to beat garland

First party I had was knight, thief, black mage, and white mage. Then on my second I wanted the game to be slightly more challenging so I had a party full of red mages only. It was pretty fun with having to level up for awhile just to beat easy bosses like Garland since having only rmages.

Thief ( Crappy dmg, Crappy Armor, he any good for anything, only thing i could think of was helps Flee ?? ( Pm if got any info on thiefs and if you can ever change them out or stuck with party till end or restart? )

8)Monk, White Mage (Kept thief and Black Mage dead)
Currently, I am doing Vikki's challenge (White Magex4) and I am stuck on Asthos.

And i still need to beat shinryu, omega and the chronodias (and chaos)

For me its Black mage, 2 knights, Fighter. The combination of the skills. And the strategy when dealing with the enemies. Although sometimes i used fighter or thief, but for me this combination is good.
