Of course Im planning on buying the game, Final Fantasy XIII is my 3rd favorite one in the series. Alot of people thought it failed and sucked hard (you all know the reason with the maps, etc) Some of that didnt bother me too much and its not really that big of deal cause what was in the game and the new direction they took with it I think went over really well. FFX-2 was alos great to me which is another alot of people hated. just like FFX-2 where they focused on yuna ( a character that needed much more depth from FFX was fleshed out as well as the story which needed a part 2). The reason their making a FFXIII - 2 is because just like the first - 2 we have a character thats really important but didnt get talked about that much Serah which is why the focus is on her (just like Yuna was). The story also makes sense you can ask that question ... what happens next? And on a side note Im pretty sure they wanted to try and make it up to the many angry fans they got by putting back alot of stuff they missed in the game and your wish is granted.

Ill still never forget that guy I saw who really only had one problem with the game and that was the map, and nothing but the map. He was mad cause their wasnt a "world" map and the maps easy reads and thats why he seriously "hated" the game.

I'm honestly going to buy this game, I liked the idea and story behind XIII, but thought Square went at it in a stupid way. Just because its a fugitive like story, doesnt mean it has to be so linear.

As for characters, I actually liked alot of the party in XIII-except for Snow.... His hero bullshit....Not my thing- so I'm glad some(so far announced) will be returning.

To add to my last post, no. I'm not going to bother buying this. I really don't think I can - and neither do I really feel like - bringing my entire PS3 and goodness-knows-what-else to university anyway, so that only really leaves the holidays between semesters back home to play on the home consoles, and add to the fact that I'm being very stingy with the games I get nowadays, I've no real room for this game.

Truth be told, FFXIII-2 does look more appealing than its woefully mediocre predecessor, but sadly not by much at all. In fact, they've even added in some gameplay elements like the random popup of monsters on the field that I know I will find a bit annoying. To those of you who are hyped for this game and are getting it, I hope you enjoy it and that it meets your expectations. Unfortunately there is just very little to nothing of this game that excites me and with other gems on the horizon that I would rather pick up instead, this isn't very high up on my list at all.

I may be a minority but I like 13, its wasn't the best entry in the series but people need to stop mistaking that as a reason to call it a bad game. That being said 13-2 looks to improve every last one of the complaints I had with its predecessor and I will most certainly be buying it...

Just as soon as I have money :alone:

I posted on this back in April but i'm gonna repost...

i am gonna get it and i preordered it as the trailers and the talk about all the changes from FFXIII has made me change my mind on the game.. if they have changed as much as they say they have,. then they are fixing most if not all the problems that FFXIII had with itself.. like the battle system walking down the one way corridor and the 'look the leader dead... the other two party members suddenly drop dead o_O' seriously that last thing got right on my nerves and i'm glad it fixed in the new one :wacky:

I won't be buying the game, more so on principle than any assumptions that it'll be a bad game. I'm just too upset with FFXIII-2's existence, in general, for a few reasons:

1.) FFXIII took about 5 years to produce, and yet they're spitting out a sequel to be due in a year?!

2.) I'm anxiously awaiting FFXIII Versus, and yet they delay the game's release even further by placing resources on a sequel for FFXIII.

...Stop teasing me, Square Enix! I just want Versus! D=

I am not that of a retard that I will pre order this.
I am not that of a retard that will buy this full price..

I might buy it second handed..and or at discount....if I am really bored. Its final fantasy after all...sighh

I won't pick it up right away unless I've got the money and feel really bored and need something to keep me busy for 40 or so hours :hmmm: Haven't really looked too much into it, but from what I've seen, it'll be better than XIII. I did actually enjoy XIII. It had a pretty good story, and the battle system grew on me. Just didn't like how straight forward it was (walk in a straight line, save, continue walking, fight boss, etc) until chapter 11 when it opened up a little bit. Hopefully it will play more like a true FF game. Also, CITIES :gasp: Not willing to pay 60 bucks unless I have the 60 bucks to spend.

I do plan on getting it, but not the first day or anything like that. Perhaps when the price drops to about 40 bucks or so will I consider it. It's not that the game doesn't look interesting, it does, but not that interesting to make me buy it right away. The trailers, makes the game look boring, but those are just trailers and they seldom do that. Trailers are supposed to make things more exciting, but maybe since the trailers I've seen of XIII-2 made it look boring, the game might actually look better in comparison to the trailer. I'm glad that Square Enix is releasing a sequel as it shows that they try to please their fans and what other way to do that than to release a sequel which may out perform it's predecessor and redeem themselves in the eyes of their beloved fans. And yes, people may be upset because it delays the release date of Versus, but think about it, with 13-2 out of the way they can work on Versus fully now, so some good does come out of 13-2 being released.

All in all to wrap up my wall of text, yes I will buy 13-2, maybe not the first day, but it's definitely on my list.

I will be buying FFXIII-2, just because I would love to see what happens next really.

I will certainly be getting XIII-2! I enjoyed XIII and am looking forward to finding out more about the characters. Furthermore, the gameplay and story look fantastic! :gasp:

All of the recent news about XIII-2 has made me more and more excited. :)

I always buy the new Final Fantasy's. Always. However, I'll make an exception this time. To me FFXIII was not a Final Fantasy game and so I'll hold off on even acknowledging that XIII-2 exists unless I see reviews saying how it was so much better than it's predecessor and how it turned everything about the game around. I doubt that will happen and so I'll likely never play this game and continue to ignore XIII's existance.

The Japanese reviews already appear to be saying that - it has scores of around 38/40 and 40/40, the latter from a reviewer who rarely gives perfect scores. The only complaint I've seen is in regards to the ending (which I've seen and personally liked!)

Fair enough wanting to wait for an English review, though.

I have my doubts as well because of the trailers I've seen. The map seems to still be entirely linear, the leveling system is the same, the fighting seems to be the same. But I will look into it once it comes out over here. FFXIII got plenty good reviews too so I'll probably see what FF fans themselves say about it.

I have played XIII-2. The maps are not linear. Expect something less linear than X but less open than XII. There are however, 2 maps that are open-field style, even bigger than XII maps. The other maps are more like X, with more branching.

I observe many non-Japanese players who have played are quite disappointed with the game. But I can tell you that I really like the game, well except for the ending.

I think I will be finishing my review sooner or later. So if you want an opinion, you can read my review when it's up.

I'm glad to hear that. I really hope they have turned it around. I hear that the ending's sad but I'll still buy it if it seems like they've fixed things that were bad in XIII. I'll check out your review definitely, thanks.

This sums up as to why I will not be playing FFXIII-2.:elmo: The whole plot from what I've read makes me rather not accept it even exists.... plus I'm barely playing FFXIII atm and knowing the ending to it already it never needed a sequel.

I decided to post here as supposedly the game is out today.

I will stop by walmart and take a look at it.I don't plan to buy it today as I am poor and have to budget my money.I will get it eventually though.

If someone bought the English language version today what are your first impressions ?

I pre-ordered it months ago. I was planning to pick it up today. Gamestop is open 10-8. Guess what time I had to work. 10-8. Hate my life. Going to pick it up tomorrow.

Although we all know that X-2 was Square's most disappointing game ever, it seems that they did a better job this time. Just watching the trailers I could easily tell the difference. It had some of the same flare. From playing the demo it seemed like it wasn't a serious FF game, which it probably isn't. Also the graphics don't seem as good. Eh, well I'm buying it regardless. Sometimes you want to see the stories continue, but it will never be as good as the original.

My copy was in my mailbox when I got home.

Collectors Edition + Steelbook for Preorder
With an extra bonus ... The Episode 01 Novella.

No idea why I got two preorder bonuses, but I was super excited.
