Pokémon: Ashes of Dreams [OOC]

Silver Shadow: Just two small details - change the Hydreigon in your team to something else, please. Also, you have three Pokemon on the rare list on that team, and the maximum is two ^^;

Fixed up there, Hydreigon has been changed to Flygon. Also personality has been added, simply need bio. And pokemon gender, but that'll be last minute with the bio.

@ChickenWuss,

Hey :) I think if you want to be a trainer you have to start with a starter pokemon (eg Bulbasaur, charmander, squirtle)

I think the ones that are still free are: Turtwig, Treecko, Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott.

You can always catch a Venonat really early on though? :)

(someone please correct me if I am wrong :) )

My Elite Four member (who is also acting Champion) will be female, and my starter trainer will be her younger sister, so yes, there will be female characters. The evil team leader will be male (their father), however....just for the sake of variety, because I don't want to play three female characters. xD

Anyways...
Silver Shadow: Whilst you're still using three rare Pokemon, since the majority of dragon-types are indeed on the list, I'm going to overlook it, since you only have one pseudo-legendary (Dragonite) on your team. Just let me know when you're finished with the bio and whatnot.

Strigon 98 (I'm going to assume you're done), Erza Scarlet, 0oPinkSquido0, Addle (did you base that superhero off of Fireman Sam? :lew:), you're all accepted~

Robert_Masters: Sorry, but there is one more thing I noticed: can you edit out that part about having a psychic link to your Pokemon? I'm not allowing psychics or aura-sensitive people in this RP. Provided you do that, I'm willing to accept your apps~

Noctis_Caelum: Rejected, for the moment. All you need to do is get rid of those made-up moves. Otherwise, it's looking good. As for levels, use the Platinum 7th Gym Leader as a guideline.

Chickenwuss: That is a little better, but I'd like to clarify a couple of things: do you intend to be a starter trainer, or a random bug catcher who takes a slightly bigger role in things?
Also, be sure to use paragraphs and a little more grammar in your RP posts if I accept your app, please ^^

I've finished my Elite Four bio, and I'm almost done with the Team Sol Boss' bio. Once I've done my starter trainer, I'll post them all up and then get back to work on detailing the world...adding route information, putting your profiles in the archive, and whatnot.

Okay, sorry bout that, will get onto it now

EDIT: i have taken out the moves that i made up, sorry bout that was just trying to even out the battlefield, anyway, how is it now ?

Addle (did you base that superhero off of Fireman Sam? :lew:)
I had no idea who Fireman Sam was until I googled him just now, so no, I didn't. Captain Red is based off of Red from the Pokemon games. It's a very over-the-top version of the story. :wacky:

Also, are we going to use a money system? I figure that would keep people from catching too many pokemon at a time because they would have to buy pokeballs. I was thinking that I would just keep check of my character's inventory, like the number of spare pokeballs they have.

There was something else I was wondering about. Starter pokemon begin with the first five attacks they can learn, right? I was thinking about how my character was going to catch her first pokemon when her Squirtle is a on the disobedient side. I was going to have Blaze ignore Sammie's orders, and use Withdraw. Sammie would then get angry, pick up the withdrawn Squirtle, then throw it at the wild pokemon, knocking it out. Since this isn't some rule-based, trainer match, I was wondering if something as unorthodox as this would be okay?

Noctis: Yeah, that'll be fine. I probably should have made the point of saying we wouldn't be making moves up, actually :lew:

Himeno: Accepted, although I think you could add a little to the bio section, although it's not absolutely neccessary. Also, the youtube link is broken ^^;

Addle: You didn't know who Fireman Sam was?! :rage:

We COULD have a money system, although I'm not entirely sure how it'd operate if we had it. I was initially just going to assume the region was that disturbing socialist-communist hybrid in the anime, but we do need a way of limiting the number of Pokemon people can capture...I might just say five Pokemon per route. That way, we can imply that there is some sort of re-stocking going on when people drop into towns. Something to think about...

Also, yes, you can improvise in any way you see fit, including using attack moves to block other attack moves. Like, having a Pokemon that knows Aqua Tail use it to block a water-based attack, intercepting one attack with another, etc. Go wild with it, just be realistic, give and take, etc. Knocking out Pokemon by throwing other Pokemon at them is a-OK. xD

OK, here are my bios...

Elite Four Member #4/Acting Champion

Name: Rose Adams
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Hometown: Amber Town

Appearance: Rose is 5’4” in height, only slightly taller than her sister. She has a lithe figure which, when combined with her height, makes her appear several years younger than what she actually is – something she takes as a compliment. She has a heart-shaped face, dominated by slightly larger-than-average green eyes and eyebrows which seem to be placed a little higher than usual, giving her a permanently surprised or inquisitive look. She has a light dusting of freckles across her nose, and is only slightly tanned, despite her travels. She has waist-length, slightly curled platinum-blonde hair that she allows to hang loose – although she is forever pushing it out of her eyes, or over her left shoulder - with a single emerald-coloured streak on the left-hand side, just above the brow – a personal affectation. Rose wears a loose-fitting, sleeveless white cotton summer dress, which falls to mid-thigh, with a white belt across her waste, where she keeps her Pokeballs, as well as her Pokegear. She also wears white opera gloves, which come up to just above her elbow, and matching white platform boots, with soles that are significantly less thicker than the standard. Rose wears a single piece of jewellery – a silver necklace with the broken half of a small sapphire on it (the other half belongs to her sister) and generally avoids makeup.

Personality: Rose is unerringly optimistic and cheerful, and has an infectious smile and laugh. She has a way of bringing out the best in people, even if they are in the foulest of moods. She is extremely sociable, having three Pokégear because the memory space couldn’t handle all the numbers she exchanged with people, and loves having company. She is highly enthusiastic and motivated, and will often accept battles in a heartbeat, even from weaker trainers who quite clearly stand no chance against her. Rose is extremely patient with people, and it is extremely rare that she becomes irritated or anything other than calm and understanding. Her seeming inability to be angry annoys many people, although they find it impossible to hate her – after all, she does nothing to deserve it.

Bio: Rose was born in AmberTown and, until she was ten years of age, lived happily with her family. When she was ten, she set out on her Pokémon journey with her starter, Piplup. Shortly afterwards her mother, heavily pregnant at the time, died during childbirth. Her father, bereft at the loss of his wife, left the new baby – Jennifer – in the care of the neighbours, and then left the house, vanishing to who knows where. Rose knew nothing of this and, when she was sixteen, returned home as the Pokémon League Champion, only to find the house had been deserted for some time, her mother was dead, and her six-year-old little sister was in the care of her neighbours.

Rose took over Jennifer’s care when she returned home and, for the next two years, the two lived at home together, under the watchful eye of their neighbours. Rose spent much of that time trying to track down their father, although to no avail – his trail disappeared at Carmine City, and it was quite clear that he didn’t want to be found. When she was eighteen, Rose decided to go on another journey, hoping to attract her father’s attention, and took Jennifer with her. This time, she defeated the current Elite Four and became the regional champion. However, her father still did not appear. By this point, Jennifer was asking questions that Rose couldn’t answer, and she was blaming herself for her father’s absence, as children often have a way of doing when no other answer presents itself.

One year later, when the next Pokémon League tournament was held, Rose was deposed from her position as Champion with ease when a masked man swept the tournament with a Hydreigon. Rose took the position of the fourth member of the Elite Four, only to find herself thrust into the role of acting Champion as well when the new Champion disappeared. She strongly suspected that this new Champion was her father, however, had no way of confirming or disproving this theory.

Rose has lived at home for the last three years with her sister, occasionally travelling to nearby cities with her sister so that she can experience new places and, once a year, acting as the Champion for the Pokémon League tournament. Last year, a promising trainer managed to fight his way through to battle her, although he was soundly defeated. Rose has not given up the search for her father, yet she is not hunting for him as actively as she was before.

Battle theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aj68Jy2rEk&feature=related

Battle style: Rose’s battle style is to allow the opponent to make a move first. She will allow them to test her mettle against her Pokémon, instructing them to merely deflect the attacks, often without even using a move as a counter, which also helps her gauge her opponent’s strength. After she has gauged her opponent, Rose cuts loose with extremely powerful moves. She will often start with Skarmory, laying a level of two of Spikes to make her opponent’s life difficult. Many of her Pokémon know moves which can force a switch, as well. Rose’s battle strategy is primarily based on defence, with a solid offense only if the opponent pushes her.

Type specialisation: Steel

Pokémon on team

Pokemon species: Empoleon
Gender: Male
Ability: Torrent
Level: 80
Brief history: Empoleon was Rose’s first Pokémon, and the two have a deep bond, having been together for just over a decade. It took Empoleon a long time to evolve to it’s final stage, waiting until just before Rose had earned her sixth Gym Badge.
Additional moves: Surf, Aerial Ace, Flash Cannon, Blizzard

Pokemon species: Steelix
Gender: Male
Ability: Rock Head
Level: 78
Brief history: Steelix was Rose’s third capture, as an Onix. It took her several years to track down a Metal Coat that she could use to evolve it.
Additional moves: Earthquake, Gyro Ball, Aqua Tail, Dragon Tail

Pokemon species: Aggron
Gender: Female
Ability: Rock Head
Level: 77
Brief history: Aggron is a newer addition to Rose’s team, having only been with her for two years.
Additional moves: Thunderpunch, Firepunch, Head Smash, Rock Polish

Pokemon species: Skarmory
Gender: Female
Ability: Keen Eye
Level: 77
Brief history: Rose had always wanted a Skarmory, and was delighted when the opportunity presented itself for her to get one. She spent the better part of three days scaling Mount Batten to catch it as it repeatedly flew away from her, finally succeeding when she sent Steelix ahead to block it’s route of escape, forcing it to battle. Skarmory has since become her primary method of transportation and, usually, her opening Pokémon in battles.
Additional moves: X-Scissor, Icy Wind, Fly, Brave Bird

Pokemon species: Scizor
Gender: Male
Ability: Technician
Level: 79
Brief history: Rose caught Scizor when she was fourteen, and it took a very long time for her to earn it’s trust and obedience. It is down to Scizor that she was able to win the Pokémon League and become the champion…although Scizor fared no better than any of her other Pokémon against the masked man’s Hydreigon.
Additional moves: Double Team, Counter, Aerial Ace, Giga Impact

Pokemon species: Metagross
Gender: Genderless
Ability: Clear Body
Level: 79
Brief history:
Additional moves: Earthquake, Protect, Hone Claws, Giga Impact

Not on team

Pokemon species: Durant
Gender: Female
Level: 30
Ability: Hustle
Personality: Durant is very skittish. It has very little in the way of self-confidence, perhaps because of it’s size. As the smallest of Rose’s Pokémon, it tends to keep away from them, particularly Steelix, which it is terrified of. It can and will face up to opponents in battle, but it prefers not to fight at all.
Brief history: Durant is the latest edition to Rose’s team, caught at the base of Mount Batten. She has not had Durant long, and keeps it with her in addition to her regular squad of six, out of it’s Pokéball so that they can get to know one another a little better. It has become something of a fixture to Rose already, often sitting on her shoulder, or the top of her head. She has so far managed to teach it Double Team, and is working on teaching it Thunder Wave and Flash Cannon, although is having little success with the latter.
Additional moves: Double Team

Starter trainer

Name: Jennifer “Jen” Adams
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Hometown: Amber Town

Appearance: Jennifer is 5’2” in height, and is clumsy and awkward in the manner of many teenagers her age, possessing none of the natural grace or confidence her sister has. She has shoulder-length, bleached hair (her natural colour is a caramel-blonde colour) and delicate, mousey facial features: she has small, dark-brown eyes that appear to be black unless you look closely, a small nose she is constantly wrinkling, and very prominent front teeth when she smiles, which is rarely, precisely for that reason. She looks a great deal like her sister did when she was her age, but is more gaunt and has a paler complexion, taking more after her father than her sister does. Her clothing is very reserved; she wears a plain white shirt, untucked and slightly too big for her, with the sleeves falling down past her hands unless she rolls them up, loose, scruffy blue jeans with a thick brown belt with holds for Pokeballs, and black trainers. Around her neck is a silver chain with half a sapphire affixed to it (her sister has the other half) as well as her mother’s wedding ring. Jennifer also wears a blue denim jacket whenever she goes out.

Personality: Jennifer is a relatively shy and quiet girl, preferring to stand in the background and observe than participate in things. She does not like being in the spotlight, and will quickly divert attention away from herself if suddenly called to the front of things. She has very little self-confidence and, whilst she is not happy with the way she is now, she doesn’t see that there is much she can do about it, and just makes do with circumstances as best she can. She is a cautious optimist, hoping that things will turn out for the best, but never holding much faith to her assertions.

Jennifer idolises her sister, Rose. Having travelled with her, watched her battle, and been raised by her; Rose is very much her mother, elder sister, and her best friend, all in one. She is, however, extremely competitive – whilst Rose does not treat her like a child (not beyond calling her “Jenny” and ruffling her hair every now and then, anyway) or give her cause for rebellion, Jennifer does have something of an inferiority complex towards Rose, and desires to beat her sister in a battle above everything else – it is one of the main reasons she is becoming a trainer herself.

Despite her sister’s assurances to the contrary, she blames herself for her father’s disappearance and her mother’s death, something that weighs heavily on her conscience and makes her prone to morbidity at times. She does not see herself as particularly useful or worthy of living; another reason she is going on a journey is to discover who she is, or rather who she would like to be. She has not seen her parents outside of old photographs and, no matter how strong her desires, she is not her sister and, whilst they share physical traits and a few mannerisms, Jennifer doesn’t want to spend her entire life in her sister’s shadow. She feels the need to define herself as an individual, although this is something she can’t quite put into words.

Jennifer is fascinated by Pokémon, and knows quite a bit about them, having read every textbook she could get her hands on, memorized Rose’s Pokedex, and watched countless battles. However, what she has gained in terms of knowledge, she lacks in social skills. Travelling with her sister, whilst it has given her an insight into just how big the world is, has left her very isolated. She has no friends her own age, and doesn’t really know how to talk to people properly when she does encounter them; she can’t understand how their minds work and, rather than trying to find out, she prefers to keep herself at a distance, to let the other person make the first move, for fear that she’ll either say something that they don’t understand, will make a complete idiot of herself, or both. She is relatively comfortable around adults, however, and is quite animate once she is sure that she won’t make a fool of herself.

Bio: Jennifer’s mother died giving birth to her, and she has never seen her father. For the first few years of her life, she was raised by her neighbours, who had no children, and took care of her as though she was their own. They spoiled her outrageously, however, they made the mistake of telling her that they weren’t her real parents the moment she started asking them questions. This knowledge dampened Jennifer’s spirits considerably, and she became much more withdrawn after this.
When she was six, her sister Rose returned home and took Jennifer into her care. She was extremely disappointed that Rose was not her mother, but clung to her nevertheless, and came to depend on her. Jennifer was a quiet child, never demanding much, always afraid that her sister would abandon her as well.

However, Rose did not abandon her and, over time, Jennifer found a modest level of contentment in her life. She bombarded her elder sister with questions, about her parents, her travels, Pokémon, and anything else she could think of. Once she overcame her initial fears, she became alight with curiosity. After a couple of years, Rose left Amber Town, taking Jennifer with her to the Pokémon League, so that she could witness a real Pokémon battle. She managed to win the tournament for a second time, this time going to challenge and defeat the Elite Four and become the Champion.

Her sister’s victory inspired Jennifer, and she started learning everything she could about Pokémon, devouring textbooks, spending hours with Rose’s Pokedex, watching any and every battle she could, even going so far once as to wander into a Pokémon Centre and ask two trainers, very seriously, if they would have a battle for her. Rose was a little concerned that she never once tried to make any friends her own age but, given that her studies and travels kept her away from morbid brooding, decided to let the matter drop.

Jennifer continued travelling with her sister, visiting every major town in the region and occasionally returning home to rest and spend long periods consolidating her knowledge until the idea eventually occurred to her to set out on her own journey, with a little subtle nudging. Now, she prepares to depart on her own journey, and is torn between excitement and apprehension…

Pokémon
Pokemon species: Bulbasaur
Gender: Male
Ability: Overgrow
Level: 5
Personality: Bulbasaur is overly aggressive, and needs no prompting from Jennifer to attack…in fact, it will often attack another Pokémon on sight, regardless of whether or not she wants it to. It has an unusual level of confidence (or, rather, overconfidence) for one so young, and it seems to take some measure of pride in it’s trainer as well, even if it is a tad over-enthusiastic in battle, and prone to…improvising.
Brief history: Bulbasaur is Jennifer’s starter Pokémon, obtained at Amber Town.

Team Sol Commander/Champion

Name: Tobias Adams
Alias: Lord Invictus
Age: 52
Gender: Male
Hometown: Bleu City

Appearance: Tobias is an even 6’0” in height, and is extremely gaunt. His face is the face of a haunted man who has not slept in days: lined and worn by years of never smiling, skin a pale grey and decidedly unhealthy, cold grey eyes in sunken sockets. His hair is close-cropped and iron grey. The top half of his face is obscured by a golden mask which resembles half a sun. He is clean-shaven.

Tobias wears a red business suit, the jacket of which is always done up, with a plain black tie and shirt. As the Team Sol Commander, the tie changes to have the Team Sol logo upon it. He wears smart, practical shoes, a single ring – his wedding ring – and, beneath his shirt, a golden necklace with a Rainbow Wing attached to it, which was given to him by his eldest daughter for his fortieth birthday.

Personality: Tobias is cold and remote, with no sense of humour whatsoever. He hasn’t smiled since his wife died, and does not even acknowledge attempts to break through the wall he has pulled up around himself. He has a quiet, yet powerful voice, one that demands immediate attention. He has a cold sort of charisma, and his withdrawn persona exudes a powerful aura of mystery, making him a lodestone for the curious and the ambitious. He is an object of interest to most he meets, for he takes in everything and reveals nothing in exchange, not even his Commanders know his true identity behind the mask, or even what his final plans are. He is a man who inspires faith, respect and loyalty amongst his followers with no effort, indeed, it is his calm assurance and unwavering confidence that make him a man others will willingly follow, although he is a reluctant leader. He is a man who was born into power, and therefore has no need to crave it.

Bio: Tobias was born in Bleu City, the child of a rich family. His mother died shortly after having him, and his father was a changed man after this, treating Tobias coldly for the majority of his childhood, instructing him in the ways of business. As a child, Tobias had no friends, no time for play, and nothing remotely resembling a childhood. Despite his father’s forbidding it, he ran away from home at the age of ten and headed to Amber Town, acquiring his starter Pokémon, Bulbasaur, and began a journey of his own. Tobias travelled around for the next three years, collecting Gym Badges and Pokémon, dodging his father’s agents, finally making his way to the Pokémon League and getting to the semi-finals…at which point he was discovered by his father’s agents and taken back home before he could compete. He then (reluctantly) resumed his education in the ways of business.

He met his wife, Lisa, when he was eighteen, when he was at Carmine City with his father. Tobias slipped away and headed into Carmine Gardens to look for Pokémon and train his own when he spotted her. She recognised him as one of the Pokémon League finalists, and challenged him to a battle, which he easily won. She convinced him to stand up to his father, after hearing his story about why he did not compete in the last rounds of the tournament. Tobias severed all ties to his family and left, moving to Amber Town with Lisa, who became his wife four years later. Not too long after that, the two of them had a daughter, Rose.

For the next ten years, Tobias was a content man. His father reconciled with him upon seeing his new family and allowed him to take up a position in the family business, and Tobias had everything he could want or need – a successful career, a loving wife, a daughter he adored, and even a positive relationship with father. However, things swiftly fell apart shortly after Rose’s tenth birthday, when she left to become a Pokémon Trainer. Lisa, who was expecting a second baby, was rushed to hospital as she went into labour, and died shortly after she gave birth to their second daughter due to loss of blood. Tobias was beside himself was grief, and left even before he had seen his second daughter, staying just long enough to tell the nurse in charge she was to be named Jennifer, after Lisa’s mother, and then headed back to his father’s estates, shutting himself away.

Tobias stayed with his father for three years, until he woke up one morning to find the old man had died in his sleep, and he had inherited everything. None of this particularly bothered him. However, one item of his father’s collection intrigued him – his collection of legends of the region. One of them depicted Ho-Oh, who was said to have the power to resurrect the dead.

Tobias began to travel, wearing a mask so as to disguise his face, for he knew his eldest daughter was looking for him, and he had no desire to confront her, or his younger daughter who, in his mind, had taken his wife away from him. He began to attract something of a following amongst towns and gained certain notoriety. A masked man seeking to learn about legends nobody really paid any attention to was not something you saw every day, after all. This was the beginning of Team Sol.

When Tobias saw his eldest daughter had become the Champion, he decided to test her mettle for himself, to see how much she had grown as a Pokémon trainer – whilst he did not wish to speak with her, he loved his daughter dearly. He entered the championship the following year under the pseudonym “Invictus” and battled his way to the top, easily winning the competition and advancing to fight the Elite Four…who he promptly crushed, his daughter included. Tobias then disappeared once again, having no desire to be the champion - leave that to his daughter.

Since then, Tobias had focused on building up Team Sol, filling out the ranks, and hunting for the Legendary Dogs, as well as a clue to Ho-Oh’s whereabouts. One, he believes, will lead to the other. And, once he has discovered and captured Ho-Oh, he will use it’s power to revive Lisa, and things will go back to how they were before. This is all that drives him, all he has to live for.

Right then, as I'm a lazy bastard, I still won't put in the damned history for Nida. Here's my character, Orion, Nida's little bro, to give ya something to work with.

For human characters
Name: Orion Jones
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Hometown: Magnolia City
Appearance:
1191100398_blue-boy.jpg

Personality: Orion, though the younger brother, is the more serious one. He is rarely ever angered, and tries to not show his emotions. Despite being in the shadow of his older brother, it never bothered him, and he has skipped the first few years of the opportunity to get his pokemon in favor of learning more about Pokemon from Nida, who he is now living with.

Bio: Orion was born in Magnolia City, on the same day 4 years after Nida was born. While Nida was the boisterous loud one, commonly getting into fights at school, Orion was collected and calm one, rarely speaking unless asked and focusing on his studies. When he was 6, Orion had lightened up a little, just in time to bid good-bye to his big brother, Nida, as he went off on his pokemon journey. While their parents looked down on Nida, his mother believing that he needed to focus more on his studies instead of roaming the world and his father, the then-current 8th gym leader, thinking he wasn't ready, Orion whole-heartedly supported him, giving his brother a healing item he had bought from the store to use in case of an emergency.

4 years later, doing far better in school then his older brother did, Orion was encouraged by his mother and father to go out. He considered it, and was about to when Nida came home. Well, more like came back briefly to challenge his father, as Nida had earned all the badges except the one from his father. As the two fought, Nida using his pokemon team at the time and his father using fighting types, Nida won, took the badge and went on the road again, bidding farewell to his family. He did, however, thank his little bro for the potion before he left, and gave Orion a potion in return. Then Nida went off.

Orion decided against going out, and stayed in school for another two years until his brother returned and took over the gym, turning it into a Dragon Pokemon one. Well, the parents were about to leave and take Orion, but Orion refused and stayed with his brother. After studying under him and learning as much as he could from him, Orion, now 14, went to Amber Town to get his first pokemon.

By, you know, flying with his brother on his brother's Dragonite and stuff.

Battle theme: Depends on the battle, and my mood.

For Pokemon:

Pokemon species: Cyndaquil
Nickname: Fury
Gender: Male
Level: 5
Personality: Fury is the hot-tempered counterpart to Orion's icy

Actually I'm having issues finding the post/thread with the names of the towns in it as well...

:D

Help!

what kinda of Level range would you like to see from my Commander of team Sol, i was thinking around the same levels as my Gym leader's Pokemon, but looking at the leader's levels im wondering if thats a little low, so what level range should i be using?

Silver Shadow: Accepted, but I'm just going to mention one thing: one battle theme per character. So it won't change depending on your mood, you either have one or you don't have one at all =P

Noctis, Team Sol Commanders will have three/four Pokemon, in their earlier 30s...I may up this (we'll see, once we start discussing the story) but for the moment, that is as high as its going. The Team Sol boss is also the Champion, hence the power levels.

...bugger. Knew I was forgetting something.
The character bio is fine, just delete the brief history bit for your starter - you'll get that at the start of the RP, in town~

Ah, right. Well then, I shall get a battle theme depending on my mood at the time of the first battle. That make sense to you?

Also, I'll make a bio for Nida before I post in the RP. It'll be a bit longer then Orion's, obviously, but it will detail parts of his journey and how he became the 8th gym leader, now.
