Pokémon: Ashes of Dreams [RP]

[OOC: It'll be just Rose facing the two of them, just to keep things simpler, and I'd rather not drag the other groups in this - we'll keep it between the three of us. But expect to get pwned effortlessly, since she IS the acting Champion. xD]

Rose shook her head in mock dismay, "What is a girl to do? But then, I suppose as a member of the Elite Four, and the acting Champion, I have no choice but to accept...but we're having a full six-on-six next time, and you're battling me personally, and not having your siblings do the dirty work for you! Let's go out back and get this started, shall we?"

She turned and entered her study, wincing slightly as Durant's grip on her back tightened. It was quite a heavy little thin, really. She moved through the study, heading through the already unlocked back door. Jennifer was already there, as she surmised, leaning against the wall, fiddling with her Pokedex, her Bulbasaur exploring the bushes. She glanced up once as her sister came through with the others in tow, then returned her attention to whatever it was she was doing. Rose sighed inwardly. She had a lot to learn.

The back garden was, more or less, a makeshift arena. It was a little unkempt - after all, she rarely had time for battles these days, preferring to train in the mountains instead - but it would serve.

William - Amber Town Lab.

"O-oh, sorry, I'll be back in one second" he said, apparently still not having been noticed by the girl who was looking at the Charmander.

"I can't miss out on getting the equipment I'll need to collect as many pokémon as possible after all! Come on Chikorita, let's go grab stuff!"

Chikorita looked to be fairly disappointed at the idea, and showed this by shaking his head.

"Uhh, ok you wait here, I'll be right back!" he said, looking over his shoulder as he headed over to the table. He picked up the right amount of everything, making sure it was all securely zipped up in his bag, along with his travelling gear before heading back over to Chikorita, who was grinning from ear to ear as his trainer approached.

"So, we're still waiting to talk to Charmander huh? Ok, I'll wait here as long as you need Chikorita!"

Commander Neto: Team Sol Meeting Room

"Entei eh? The Legendary dog of Fire. This should be pretty interesting. I think I'll go visit an old acquaintence for some assistance it catching this one, since it's probably not going to be all that easy."

He raised himself out of his chair and headed towards the door. As he placed his hand on the handle and began to pull, he turned around looking at the four people seated around the table.

"How the hell am I supposed to know where to start looking?"

----------------

"I am sooo looking forward to going on our journey!!!" Cameron said with a pout, punching her fist into the air with enthusiasm. She then Squeaked "But first!! I'm gonna get my pokedex and stuff!!"

She looked down at her Totodile and nodded towards the table where all their new stuff was, gesturing that Reggie follow her.
"Dile dile!!" He snapped happily and scurried after Cam who had already started walking over.
As she grabbed her stuff she over heard the Professor and the two older men talking about a pokemon battle. A 2v2. Cameron had never witnessed one of those before.
The Brunette then stuffed the pokeballs in her satchel, placed the pokegear on her wrist and then quickly flipped open her pokedex, aiming it at Reggie.

"
It has the habit of biting anything with its developed jaws. Even its Trainer needs to be careful."

"Boy is that accurate!!!" She muttered to herself as she placed the pokedex into her bag and walked back to Stephen and Faythe.
"well I over heard the professor talking. She's having a battle with two of the new kids, they're using the older guys pokemon." She ran her hand through her hair before continuing. "Do you guys want to stay and watch or should we get going?" Cameron really wanted to get going, but watching a battle would give her some ideas on how to battle herself... she was really torn.

Simon and Robert Masters
[[Don't detract the fact of how close in level the Pokemon are. It'll take more than a single blow to take down Gallade.]]

Robert followed his brother out after receiving no response to his question to Jen. He moved himself to the end of the field opposite of Rose. Gallade followed beside the boy while Flare rode astride Robert's shoulder. Robert took in a deep breath before looking at Gallade. "You ready?" Robert asked Gallade. The psychic warrior gave a nod before moving to stand in front of Robert, taking a battle stance. Robert may not have the years of experience Simon did, but he knew what Gallade could do, and he had a few ideas in his head of tricks he saw his brother use with Gallade.

Nida followed the two, Orion trailing behind him. As they got out, Orion stopped besides Robert as Nida went to the middle. Orion tossed the pokeball, which released his brother's Dragonite, a powerful pokemon in his own right.

Nida, meanwhile, stood in the middle, holding up his hand.

"This will be a two-on-two battle between current Pokemon champion Rose and trainers Orion and Robert. The battle ends when both pokemon of one side are knocked out. Don't hold back, anyone."

Nida walked over to stand in the side-lines, still holding his arm up. He would drop, signaling the beginning of the match, when Rose released her two pokemon.

Orion, meanwhile, looked at Robert.

"It seems we're stuck for it. We're going to have to work together: There's not a chance we'll win if we act separately. I hope you know your brother's Gallade as well as I know my brother's Dragonite."

OOC: Indeed, Nida's pokemon aren't slouches either. You can god-mod Nida to drop his arm at when you release your two pokemon so we can start the match without waiting on a post from me. Also, I've decided on Orion's battle theme. I'll add it into the bio, but here it is:

both Faythe and Sammie grabbed their things from the table. They turned to watch a group of people walking out the back of the laboratory, including the professor. Faythe was going to ask Sammie what was going on but she didnt need to wait for too long to find out what was going on because cameron had heard what happened on and relayed the information to the group.

"well I over heard the professor talking. She's having a battle with two of the new kids, they're using the older guys pokemon. Do you guys want to stay and watch or should we get going?"

She sounded like she couldnt decide what to do so Faythe thought for a moment. "Well it would certainly be interesting, ive been living here for a long time and i have never once seen the professor battle" Faythe used her pokedex to look up information on the groups pokemon, starting with hers.

"Chimchar, the fire monkey pokemon, it agilely scales sheer cliffs to live atop craggy mountains. its fire is put out when it sleeps"

Followed by Camerons

"Totodile, The aqua crocodile pokemon, It has the habit of biting anything with its developed jaws, even its trainers need to be careful"

Followed by stephens.

"Piplup, the penguin pokemon, because it is very proud is hates accepting food from anyone, its thick down guards it from the cold"

and finally Sammies pokemons information was registered.

"Squirtle, the water turtle pokemon, it shelters itself inside its shell, then strikes back with spouts of water at every oppertunity"

"Looks like we are widely unbalanced "
Faythe giggled noting she was the only one with a fire pokemon in her group. "What do you say we go outside and watch, maybe have a practise battle with the other trainers?"

"H-Hey, you're the Gym Leader from Byzantium City!" A random Pokemon trainer said to Victor as he was traveling down Route 2 with Blaze. Victor turned around to see the person who met him. The trainer was female, and was blushing profusely.

"Indeed I am."
Victor said returning a smile. "And what can I do you for?"

"W-Well..." She was a bit nervous. "I want to have a Gym Battle with you. P-Please?"

Victor walked up to the lady, the Ninetales purring softly. "Alright, but don't be nervous. I'll accept any challenge but only when both the trainer and the Pokemon are ready and willing to fight. Maybe you should wait till tomorrow."

The trainer's head went down, "A-Alright..." she said as she walked back to Byzantium.

Turning back towards his Ninetales he said to her, "I really wish I could battle with her but she's not ready mentally. Hopefully, she'll be ready to battle soon."

Ninetales started sprinting down the route to Bleu Forest, "Hey, wait up!!!" Victor said trying to keep up with his Pokemon.

Chasing after Snivy, Seth didn't see the girl infront of him, and effectively crashed into her from behind, falling back. "Oh! I-i-i'm sorry, i didn't see you there! My Snivy ran away and i was after him you see!" He explained, constantly bowing his head.

Shortly after, Snivy came back to Seth, pointing to the girls pokemon, signalling as if he wanted the two to become friends.

"Snivy... you did this just for me? i thought you were trying to run away from me!?" He said, tears neally rolling out of his eyes, before grasping the pokemon and holding Snivy close to his chest.

Shace: Team Sol Headquarters

Shace looked over at Commander Neto and smirked while talking to him, "Why not start by doing some research, if we knew where these legendary dogs were we wouldn't need to go look for them now would we?"

Shace then got out of his chair and bowed towards Lord Invictus. "I will look after things while you are away my lord, I will take my leave now." Shace then walked out of the office without another word to anyone.

Shace looked outside a window from outside the office and waited patiently for Commander Neto to leave, wanting to speak to Lord Invictus one on one before he left for a while.

Thoma Bannor

With the meeting adjourned, the other commanders had removed themselves from the office. All except Thoma. Once the office held only him and Lord Invictus, Thoma stood, closed the door, locked it to ensure no one tried to crack it open and listen in, and then approached his old rival. The words Thoma had to speak were to Tobias, not to the facade that lived within the mask. Thoma stood himself to stand side-to-side with Tobias, his face to the wall before him.

"I'm sure you already know this: she'll be coming to my gym this year. I believe today's the day she's getting her first Pokemon partner. If you wish, I'll have my gym battle with her recorded so you can see for yourself how she's grown. You may live within the facade you wear, but I know the real you is still buried somewhere in there, and you're still their father. That's why you challenged my gym and then went on to challenge Rose, and left immediately after you won the championship. To see how strong she had become. Of course, that's just my thoughts. The ramblings of an old man." Thoma spoke calmly and plainly.

"However, your older daughter is starting to question my story about when I last saw you before you vanished, and she keeps asking if I've seen the masked man that swept her all those years ago. She already has her suspicions, the same suspicions I had when you challenged my gym and later approached me on this whole Ho-oh business. And should Team Sol become public, she might even start to suspect me. All of my men are tasked out between Suicune and the bell. I would ask, though it may not be my place to, that a small division of Team Sol stage a take over of Ermine City on the day the bell is scheduled to pass through. It will not affect my museum plan, and it would help solidify where I stand in her mind, allowing me to throw her off course when needed until the time comes for all truths to come to light." Thoma spoke. He would wait for Invictus' response, in case Tobias had anything he wanted to ask along with giving Thoma a reply.

[OOC: You don't need to tell me not to knock you out in one hit, I'm not an idiot. Just don't expect to be able to damage Rose's Pokemon very much, or last very long against her. Levels aren't an absolute measure of power - it comes down to experience as well. I mean, despite the level gap being minimal in the anime, Cynthia's level of power far surpasses that of the Elite Four. Also, keep in mind that you can use moves creatively to a degree.]

"Alright, then. Shall we get this show on the road? Best of luck, you two - you're going to need it!" she selected two Pokeballs from her belt, tossing them into the air, one after the other. The first Pokeball released her Empoleon, impassive as it regarded it's opponents. The second released her Scizor, which showed a little more enthusiasm.

"These two shall be your opponents. I think I'll let you two make the first move."

She folded her arms, relaxing slightly. She'd probably have to use a move to counter her opponent's moves - after all, they weren't slouches. Still, she'd be very surprised if they managed to do any significant damage. After all, she hadn't slacked off in her training in her isolation, and she hadn't fought her way to become Champion relying on luck. Of course, she had been defeated, but it had been the only time that had ever happened...

---

Jennifer looked up as her sister released her Pokemon. Empoleon and Scizor. She had half-hoped that her sister would use her Steelix, but she understood her sister's selection - Empoleon's ice attacks would make swift work of Dragonite, and Gallade wouldn't even be able to scratch Scizor. They complemented each other perfectly, and even if they swapped opponents, it wouldn't matter. There was no doubt in her mind that her sister was going to win this one. She smirked. Good. Damned upstarts. Challenging the Champion when they'd only just started out!

Her Bulbasaur had wandered it's way onto the battlefield, and was now looking from side to side, as if trying to decide which Pokemon to attack first. She sighed, pocketing her Pokedex, and then walked calmly into the arena, picked it up, and moved back to the sidelines, not looking at any of them.

---

"That, Commander Neto, is for you to decide. You are dismissed." Tobias said flatly, not even the slightest change in his posture. He did not particularly care for the other's rudeness, and even his patience had it's limits. Thoma, however, remaind after he left.

Tobias said nothing for a few moments after Thoma had finished speaking. It was no surprise that he had known the other's identity - they were, after all, old friends. But those days were long past and, despite what his friend may think, Tobias was dead. Only Lord Invictus remained. "Do what you feel is necessary, Commander Ao." Tobias replied, pausing for a few moments before rising out of his chair, expressionless behind his mask as he studied the other for a moment. Finally, he added, "Do not concern yourself with the Champion, or her suspicions. I shall personally deal with her when the time comes."

There was a lot more he could have asked. How his daughters were doing, whether or not Rose had become any stronger since last they fought, whether he could find out what starter Pokemon Jennifer had, what she looked like, how Rose had raised her to be. He had not even seen his youngest daughter since she was born, and knew nothing about her beyond her name. However, to give in to his desire to see his daughters again now, after all these years, would cripple Lord Invictus, which was something he could not allow, not until his Lisa was returned. Without Lisa, he could have no family. Thoma was stirring the ashes of a long-dead past, yet he would find nothing.

"If there is nothing else, Commander Ao, you are dismissed."

[OOC: Sorry I was AFK gaiz :gasp: ]

Rena stumbled a few steps along the way with Charmander, scrambling to keep up with the eager Pokemon. “Charmander, what’s wrong?”

The two came to an abrupt halt when Charmander had met with Chikorita, the two exchanging knowing glances. "Char, char!" Their mischievous nature in working together to get their trainers together was reflected in their eyes, and their partner in crime wasn’t far behind either.

As she laid eyes on Chikorita, Rena was immediately enamoured with the cute Pokemon. A smile spread from ear to ear and she knelt down in front of one of the few female Pokemon in the lab. Rena cautiously held out her hand towards Chikorita, knowing to express respect for it’s personal space should it not take to her. After all, it was someone else’s partner. “Hello there, and who are you pretty girl?”

Rena glanced up and noticed that there wasn’t a trainer with the Chikorita. “Who’s your partner?” She didn’t have to wait long before she got her answer and a boy came back quickly with his things from the Professor.

Suddenly she was overwhelmed with anxiety at meeting someone new. She paused before standing back up and nervously sticking out her right hand to the trainer who belonged to the Chikorita. “Hi, I’m—"

She didn’t get very far with the introductions before someone crashed into her and the two went tumbling down, she landing on top of the Charmander and Chikorita. Rena groaned, effectively crushing the two small Pokemon before she hurried to her feet. “Oh, are you two alright?!”

She looked to see who had caused it, another boy, who was enthralled with joy and holding his Pokemon close.

For a second Rena laughed, forgetting all about the fear of new people and all of its anxieties. Well, they were all together now. Was this to be her team?

“I’m Rena.” She stuck out one hand towards Seth. “From Amaranth Town.” She paused, and then crossed her left arm over her right, extending her free hand out to Will again, hoping to make their acquaintance at the same time.

Robert Masters

Robert looked to his tag partner and his Gallade. "You go after Scizor with Dragonite, Gallade and I will handle Empoleon." Robert spoke quietly to both. Gallade gave a nod as he heard Robert's plan. Once the battle was begun, Robert would pull on a trick his brother used to use on him during mock battles. "Gallade, Teleport into Close Combat!" Robert spoke.

Gallade vanished into thin air, only to reappear behind Empoleon. The Pokemon would not waste a moment in using Close Combat on Empoleon. Robert could only hope at that point that Dragonite would hit Scizor or at least keep Scizor off of Gallade so Gallade could focus on Empoleon.

Thoma Bannor

"So, that's your answer. Alright. I suppose the guy I know won't be coming back until this all plays out. I'll still record it in case you change your mind. By your leave, Lord Invictus." Thoma spoke calmly before leaving the room.

Thoma didn't stay long at the base, only visiting the locker room in order to change from his Sol Uniform into his normal clothes. He wasn't going to waste time. He was confident in the capabilities and loyalty of his men. Thoma was ranked very highly in the minds of his men because he took care of not only his men, but the families of his men. He made sure no bad press ever leaked out about them, and for those that took falls for the greater goal with temporary prison time, they were each compensated for their time. He had two missions in mind: to capture Suicune, and to force every challenger of his gym to push themselves to their limits so that they could become stronger and more skilled trainers.

Thoma arrived back at his gym after a few hours of driving in his sports car. He liked the flashy stuff that often caught the attention of the ladies. After pulling a donut in the parking lot, Thoma skidded into his parking space with style. The door opened upwards, not outwards like normal cars would. Thoma's daughter Julia, stood at the entrance of the domed gym and shook her head. "Talk about mid-life crisis. Can't you every park like a normal person?" she called out.

Thoma laughed as he walked up the steps and rubbed his daughter's head. "Julia my dear, you only get one life. Why not enjoy it to the fullest? If you grow up being a stick in the mud, life's just gonna leave you in the dust." Thoma teased before leading his daughter into the building.

The main foyer was the entrance to the Aquarium. The battle arena could only be reached by going through it, allowing all trainers to see the wonder and beauty of water-type Pokemon from all around the world. His own living quarters were in the second floor, above the aquarium and gym, and could only be accessed by a stairway that had a red lanyard across with a sign that said 'Authorized Personnel Only'.

The base for his company of Sol members lay beneath the gardens outside. There was a tree with a removable panel that hid a climate control panel that kept the greenhouse-like garden protected from the inclimate weather outside. Only by pressing the Fire Alarm button and holding it in for five seconds would a grass panel open and reveal a staircase. This was a secret known only to Thoma and Team Sol.

Thoma brought Julia over to gardens where Thoma and Lilly's non-water types played, ran about, ate and rested. Espeon and Ninetales, two of Lilly's most cherished Pokemon walked up to Thoma and greeted him. "Ah, hello girls! How are you two doing?" he greeted them. Espeon jumped up onto his shoulder while Ninetales nuzzled into his hand. Julia went off to go and play with Buneary and Furret.

Shace saw Commander Ao leave the conference room, so Shace knocked on the door.
"Lord Invictus, if it's alright with you, I would like to talk to you for a little bit before you leave for a while.

Shace stood outside wondering what to ask or say. 'Should I ask what are real goal's are? Why is he after Ho-Ho? Is it for the same reason I am? Is it for different reasons? If our reasons arn't the same then... Maybe my pokemon are really the only ones I can trust anyways.'

"You go after Scizor with Dragonite, Gallade and I will handle Empoleon."
"On it."

Scizor was a bug-type. And a steel type. Thankfully, Dragonite knew a fire-type move, and he had known it before Nida had caught it. Orion had spent a lot of time studying his brother's Dragonite, and had come up with a strategy that could be used against bug-types.

"DRAGONITE! Use Agility, followed by Fire Punch on Scizor!"

Dragonite complied immediately, knowing that wasting time would be useless. As Dragonite sped up, it charged towards Scizor, unleashing a Fire Punch on it as soon as it was in range.

OOC: X3 I plan to use all the type advantages I can think of to beat you. Or at least, try very hard to beat you.

[OOC: Don't expect to get very far. xD]

Rose smiled. She had a feeling they'd pick those targets, and that Robert would try his elder brother's favourite trick on Empoleon. However, they were going to find that facing the Champion wasn't as simple as picking type advantages and using fancy tricks to try and surprise her. Unfortunately for them, she'd seen just about every trick in the book, and she'd only ever lost one match.

"Empoleon, intercept with Metal Claw, and Scizor, use Night Slash!"

Scizor stood it's ground, allowing Dragonite to reach striking distance, then ducked under it's blow, one claw lancing outwards in a blur, tinged with crackling black energy, to strike Dragonite in it's stomach, and then launched itself backwards, away from it's opponent. At the same time, Empoleon spun about, glowing wings catching Gallade's blows, then pushed forward, knocking it away and momentarily off balance, jumping backwards to stand, back to back, with Scizor, in the center of the makeshift arena.

"Now, both of you, use Swords Dance! Empoleon, follow that up with Blizzard on Dragonite, and Scizor, use Double Team to cover it!"

Claws and wings flashing respectively, Scizor and Empoleon switched places, Empoleon launching a vicious rain of icicles from it's mouth in Dragonite's direction, Scizor appearing to split apart, filling the area behind Empoleon with motionless images of itself.

"This is an exercise in teamwork, boys, not two simultaneous one-on-one battles. Although for your first battle, you're not doing too badly! Now, try to think a little beyond type advantages and your older brother's battle style and utilise your own tactics!"

--

Tobias gave Commander Ao a few minutes, before following him out of the meeting room. Surprisingly, he found Commander Meri waiting for him. He stopped as the other addressed him, and considered for a moment. Whilst he had other, far more important matters to attend to, it wouldn't hurt to spend a few moments in conversation with the man. If it had no been brought up in the meeting, he suspected it was either something personal, or the man had doubts. Either way, such things needed to be addressed, before they spiralled out of control.

"As you wish, Commander Meri, but please, make it brief. Time waits for no man, and I have pressing matters I must attend to."

Robert Masters

Robert couldn't waste time. If that Blizzard hit Dragonite, it'd be two on one. "Get in front of Dragonite and use Protect!" Robert called out. Gallade leaped over to where Dragonite was, using Protect to hopefully intercept the Blizzard attack. Should the tactic work, it would buy Orion a chance to counter-attack. Scizor would still be a problem, but Robert stuck to his plan of who his target would be. Once the Protect was down, he wouldd call another command out. "Now, use Night Slash on Empoleon!" Robert called out.

[OOC: I'm beginning to see a problem with three-way battles...]

"Scizor, use Feint on Gallade, and follow it up with Fury Cutter! Empoleon, keep Dragonite pinned down with Blizzard!" Rose shouted, struggling to make herself heard over the roar of Empoleon's attack.

The duplicates vanished as the real Scizor leapt forward, charging into Gallade even before it's Protect had vanished before it had time to make it's next move, claws slashing wildly in an entirely random pattern, each slash progressively stronger than the last. Meanwhile, Empoleon renewed it's assault behind them, the howl of the miniature snowstorm it had conjured becoming all the more intense. Rose's arms grew cold and, still on her back, she felt Durant shudder. Scizor would be able to bear the cold, although Dragonite and Gallade wouldn't be quite so lucky. Fleetingly, she wondered if she should endeavour to teach Empoleon Ice Beam - it was far more accurate and, whilst less powerful, accuracy might help if she was ever to get her rematch against the one who had beaten her.

Will: Amber Town Lab

The events before his eyes had played out so quickly it was almost unbelievable. He had come back to see the girl talking to his Chikorita, she had looked up and started to introduce herself, when only seconds later, someone else had run into her and knocked her on top of Chikorita.

However, she stood up, and she at least seemed to be ok. Finally introducing herself, she stuck her hand out and second time.

"Um.. Hi." Will looked up from the pokégear he had been fiddling with a flashed the girl a somewhat sheepish grin before shaking her hand. "Nice to meet you."

-----------------------

Commander Neto:

"Start wherever I like eh? Looks like I'll have to do a bit of research myself... Although, that's not really my style."

Sliding his hand inside his jacket he pulled out a phone. He flipped the top open and punched in a few numbers.

"Hello. Ahh good it's you. I'm going to need some help with something. Entei, I need to know it's whereabouts. Don't ask me why, I'm in charge, you do as I say. Look if you don't want to do it yourself then delegate!. Just make sure we know where it is before dawn tomorrow. In the meantime I need to visit someone, I'll be back at base later today. I expect a meaningful update then."

He hung the phone up and shoved it back inside his jacket, mumbling something about incompetent lackeys before continuing down the road. He had someone to visit, since he was guessing that a so-called Legendary Pokémon would be a little more difficult to catch than your normal run of the mill type. He knew someone who had a few little tricks that might make this a much easier task, and some of them were more than a little unconventional...

-----------------------

Tsukiumi:

"Jeez, with half the Elite Four not here some weak trainers really do make it through, and of course, with Rose doing her research, I'm supposed to beat everyone, so I don't have to give her a call and interrupt here, after all if she's doing something, it's probably important, and it's been a bit close more than once."

She sat in one of the armchairs littering the room she was sitting in, picking up a book about Legendary pokémon. She was surprised at how many new species had been discovered where only one or two of them existed in recent years. Perhaps, one of those was what she needed to prove herself to the Champion, prove that she could finally beat her, since after all, the Champion was near enough the only person who had beaten her in recent years.

As she sat there, reading through the book, she wondered what the other members of the Elite Four were up to at this minute, since they were the only people she felt truly comfortable around, having worked and laughed with them for years now...

After Gallade had been pushed back, Orion decided that now was a time for a change of pace.

"Dragonite, use Fly and get up in the sky!"

Dragonite flew up immediately, getting out of range of the Blizzard. Orion breathed a sigh of relief. Time for a tactics change.

"Alright, tactics time! Dragonite, use Thunder Wave on Empoleon, then follow it up with Thunder Punch!"

Orion tossed a look to Robert.

"Figure out a way to slow Scizor down!"

Nida, meanwhile, was watching as Rose was quite easily keeping the two on their toes. He chuckled. So this was the power of the Champion... and someone else had managed to beaten her. He chuckled, then looked at Simon.

"So, what're the odds of them lasting at least 5 minutes?"
