My only complaint of the game is the lack of indepth knowledge about the characters. I loved the story if you try to figure out every aspect of it from what teh SUn-Crysts' real importance is, to the Occuria and how the Esper's came about etc. Backstories though for characters...made me give this game an overall "9". So I went with the high choice, but it's definitely NOT a 10, even though I loved it overall.
well thank god you didnt say 10 because if anybody who says it deserves 10 has to be a die heart fan
personally i rated this game 8 but i still consider it as one of my ff faves because of its uniqueness this game is so different from the other games so unoriginal and thats why i liked it because it is different. its gameplay was different and i liked it, its character interaction was different with no romance in it and i liked it and its character devolopment was different and i liked it for most of the characters
That's a problem? Someone being a die hard fan? Well I voted 10, main reason being I loved the characters, i.e Judges and Dr. Cid more then anything (so far from watching cutscenes).

I felt the story didn't do a good job of really drawing you into the characters, most of them had very weak detailed histories or shallow backgrounds.
In the end, as I said in a previous post, was that this game had a great cast of characters, but you'll probably be left wishing you had felt just a bit closer to them than what you do by the end of the game.

I rate this game 8/10. I think the Battle System is weak and the animation used when opening doors is comical. It's a very interesting game with a good story but lacks depth. Although Gambits are a very good idea that make battles easier the introduction of needing to obtain Licenses to use anything is ridiculous and not needed. I can't help but feel somewhat let down by this game and I think that my hopes were well and truly shot down in their prime.

i guess you havent played the game so you might not be aware of the flaws the game has but after you play the game you cant say that it deserves 10

Even though this is my first final fantasy game played, I'd give it a 9. I agree that the characters did not have enough info on their background, but other than that I though it was great.

I'd say it's worthy of a 9, just short of a 10. The biggest plus side for me is the game itself. The battle system works really well for me, it makes a refreshing change from the ATB and turn based systems, and the fact that the amount of sidequests available seem to pretty much double the length of the game.If i wanted a good story, I'd read a book, when playing a game it's the gameplay I look for most. That said, I do enjoy the story in 12, and the fact that it's not forced in my face as much as in previous games is a plus; it's there if I want it, but if I just want to get on with the game I can.

I gave this game an 8.5 out of ten becuase I didn't like what I consider to be the most important element of a final fantasy, the stroy. It was to bland and predictable, we knew jack about the charectors, there was no love story and there werent any supertwists in the game like eight, nine,seven,ten,six heck, all of them had(I mean c'mon, you cant get more trippy then final fantasy one). The other thing I didn't like was the new summonings, they took out Ifrit,Shiva and Bahumat who,as far as summonings are concerned, have always been in the series. I didn't like the new style of the summonings(they were supposed to be modeled after enemies from tactics, but they look nothing like them) and I didnt like how they were freekin useless. Other than that though, I pretty much like everything else and think the games awesome, it was just missing some important elements that would have made it a nine worthy game.
Because I can and I will do, because our opinions differ? You'll just have to deal with it. LOL - making judgements for me already? Please don't do that. You seem to be obsessed with the fact no one is going to give it a perfect. I already pretty much everything about the game, so why not give it a ten already? I could give it more challenging areas, designs, and how enemies approach you!
Like I said before about flaws, they're just YOUR opinions - I for one may think this game is flawless, and if I think the story is perfect, then so be it. Lack of plot twists? I didn't see any in VI (sorry), VIII, X-2. Sure, there were some in IX and VII. If there isn't any in XII..big deal? I love the story regardless.
I can sympathasise with Harbringer to a certain degree on summons. I hated them being removed at first. However..how many times do we have to see the same old summons? Also, weren't the Espers pretty much the bad rebellious ones who went against the Occuria? If you place the old summons in their place, you now get a bunch of reocurring summons posing as bad guys - summons most of the time in FF, were not generally of the rebellious nature - I see them as "Good Gods" who helped you out after battle. In some FF's anyway, when they speak to you.
If I think the characters aren't lacking, so be it.
Call me a fangirl whatever, I don't care - I'm probably not the only one who is thinking this is a perfect game.
The only thing I had to really experience in the game to help me give it a 10 would be to get used to the License board plus other gameplay elements, dungeons, cities - and I am loving it so far.
As stated on the forums before, FFXII was underdeveloped since the main director stepped down towards the end...
And as I've stated before...Matsuno did everything ass backwards...
He included 80+ hours of optional sidquests, yet...failed to complete the plot summary before he dropped out...

I think this game's amazing. I haven't actually finished it yet but even so it's already making me feel all giddy. The wole game is put together so nicely and I feel like I'm playing the part in an epic movie. I love the battle system and the story is great too; the way they've wrapped it all together is very engrossing indeed. I'm feeling much more for this game than I did even VII.

I'd give it an 8.5. I find the game likable overall, especially the battle-system and Espers. I love how they finally gave them different names and features. And summoning them...my gosh, the CG blows your mind away!
Storyline was alright for me, although I find some parts confusing. I think I'd probably have to play it twice in order to understand it better. The whole Occuria thing was just..."???" to me. >.<
I love most of the characters here, except Vaan. He's ok, I guess. I just mainly dislike his voice. It sounded as if it was recorded or something, therefore it lacks emotion compared to his comrades. That's just my opinion though.

I gotta give it a 9 so far. Now my opinion could change during the rest of the game but I LOVE THIS GAME. I've said it before and don't mind saying it again I feel this game is break through in the way its set up and with sooooo many hours of sidequest you can't go wrong. The reason i didn't give it a 10 though was the little things that piss me off.
