[RP] Endless Cry: Final Fantasy VII

Kayne was sent flying backwards. Slamming into the wall with great force.
He fell to his knees as he fell off the wall.

His eyes blurred for a second. Though regained its normal vision after a few seconds.
The blur he experienced at this time, made him only see hte basic outlines of his companions, really not knowing who where alive, and who where not.
Though, as he had already used his Phoenix down, there was not much he could do.

He forced himself to his feet. Stumbling to regain balance.
Checking his item storage, he was out of Soma, and had a few potions left.
He felt drained, he felt like he could do little more.
Though, healing the others where his main objective, his anger focused on Cloud instead.

Kayne forced himself to a standing position, regaining his posture.
This where to be his last attack, even if it hit, or missed.

He leaned the staff towards the AVALANCHE leader, panting hard as his last energy reserves faded.

"Lightning - Bolt1" he muttered, as the materia in focus, as well as his staff head started glowing brightly.
The energy formed the lightning bolt that he had formed accustomed to.
It formed above Cloud's head, striking downwards. Heading towards the Spiky haired leader.

A second after, Kayne fell to his knees, drained of energy. His hand loosing the grip on the staff. Letting it lie free on the ground.
Like this he would be sitting for some time. Not really knowing what to do. Feeling that it would either end, with him, or cloud.
"may the best win" he thought in his mind, as his head dipped slightly due to fatigue, and loss of energy.
He was alive, one could see he was alive, yet. He looked dead.
Not enough energy to do much more then move, if he had to.

A torrential battle ripped the cavern into a fragment of its peaceful state. Sage stared blankly at his blood soaked, quivering hand. Fingers danced playfully in the somber glow of crimson reflecting against his pale face. The stun baton clenched tightly in his right hand emited a tiny stream of electrical life, a surge of alien power still clinging to the remaining life. The demonic advances from the AVALANCHE leader abruptly stopped. He was trapped, stopped in place by the curse levied upon his soon-to-be corpse.

Sage Mallory's wavering fist suddenly stilled. The trail of blood suddenly stopped. He had just enough energy left to end the battle.

'Train an army ... huh?' Sage questioned, stumbling to his feet. 'You won't stop until your dead ... Bet you never expected us to be a match for you.'

Sage hoisted the stun baton level with his chest in his right hand, while his left closed the rod to a stow-able size. He tucked the weapon in his side holster and reached a casual hand behind his back. Sooner or later, this battle was going to be over and at the rate the new recruits were going, they'd NEVER see their way out of the ominous Cosmo Canyon Cavern. He freed a single deadly grenade, and with his free hand he pulled the pin.

'Bet you anything you've got a way out of this! Some last trick up your sleeve! And even if we DO win, we'll just be left half-dead to try and make our way OUT!!'

Sage marched right up to the silent warrior and grabbed his left hand, then in one quick motion slammed the grenade into Clouds hand, placing his thumb on the trigger. Cloud effectively held the key to his own demise, to be triggered as soon as he took a single motion. Move and the poison would take effect, drop the grenade and be killed with such low health. With a wicked smile, Sage Mallory turned and walked a safe distance away.

'That ought to buy us enough time to rest up,' Sage muttered to no one in particular then slumped in a heap on the ground completely exhausted.

'Say what you have to say boss, we've beaten you.'

stepping out with a smile on his face at the outcome of the battle he clapped sage on the shoulder "well done my friend" he said lowly. helping the older man to his feet he offered the man some water from his canteen. "drink up... it will help" he turned to face the rest of the group. smiling he introduced himself "Fayd Miyumi is the name, you can call me Fayd" he said with a low bow. " i wish to join your team. who do i have to kill to have the honour???" looking to the faces of the surrounding people and added hastily "i was joking... honest, well anyway ill be at the candle if you want to tell me your answer" turning with a smile at the others he exited the room and headed to the candle

Shadow knew they were all going to die. that grenade had enough force to kill everyone within the caves. "idiot" Shadow muttered as he walked away towards the exit. if the grenade was going to go off, he wouldn't be around to feel it.

Yukio's eyes widened as Cloud drew closer, those strange, mako-eyes seeming to hold within them a feral intensity. It was as though Yukio could see into Cloud's troubled, difficult past, just by examining the 'windows to his soul.' It was enough for Yukio to finally acknowledge some sort of respect for the leader of AVALANCHE, one that can only be earned through sweat, blood, and heated breaths. Cloud Strife was giving this battle his all, refusing to back down, even while Hades' poison touch sapped his life away, and even after the onslaught of all of the new recruits.

Despite Yukio's current state of distracted cogitation, Cloud's following attack was not a surprise to him. It was as though, for a moment, Yukio was displaced from his own body, and was watching Cloud and himself through a distant pair of eyes. Cloud struck him hard and fast, stealing away a large amount of Yukio's health, and ceasing his ability to act. The 'Stop' spell did it's job, clouding Yukio's mind and making it impossible for him to attack Cloud once more. Yukio, in slow, almost statue-like movements, forced his way to the side of the Cavern. His feet felt so incredibly heavy, as though they had been dried within blocks of cement. Finally, he made it to a nearby wall, and leaned his weight against it for support. This fight was coming to a close, and unfortunately, Yukio knew he would not be able to have the final blow. It was smarter for him to save his special abilities for a more important time. Using his Limit Break to deliver a death blow to his new 'Boss,' wasn't in Yukio's best interests.

For the time being, he concentrated on getting his breathing rate back to a normal pace, struggling to ignore the heavy weight attributed to his eyelids. This battle was an arduous one, there was no doubt about that. Sighing, Yukio tilted his head back slightly, his piercing eyes following the motions of those around him. There was a newcomer that caught his interest, a man who introduced himself as 'Alexander Kouss.' Yukio quirked a golden brow as he observed him, amused by the fact that after Alexander gave his brief introduction, he went straight for an attack on Cloud. Well, there's nothing wrong with having someone eager to fight on their side.

Drawing his eyes away from him, the most entertaining of individuals would finally act in quite an unexpected manner. Sage Mallory had walked up to Cloud, and in one of the cruelest actions to date, slapped a grenade into the Ex-SOLDIER's hand. Quite literally, Cloud held his life in his own hand. The dramatic irony of it was a bit too much for Yukio to handle, and though he tried his best to cover up his laughter with a hand over his mouth, his chuckles could still be heard by those around him. Perhaps the kid wasn't so bad after all.

"Bet you anything you've got a way out of this! Some last trick up your sleeve! And even if we DO win, we'll just be left half-dead to try and make our way OUT!!"

Cloud slowly smiled, shaking the remnants of electricity off of his battered and bruised form. He studied Sage as he walked casually towards him, then, in a sudden fluid motion, withdrew the pin off of a grenade and placed it within his own hands; only his thumb a protection against an imminent detonation.

"Say what you have to say boss, we've beaten you."

An eerie silence filled the caverns as all eyes were pinned on Cloud. It was suddenly broken by the approach of a young man who introduced himself as Fayd. After congratulating Sage, he turned, about to head out of the caverns, Shadow not far after him, but Yuffie moved towards them, blocking their path. So she HAD felt someone watching the group. No matter, he was here now and they all needed to hear what was going on.

"You've passed." All eyes turned to Cloud as he spoke. "You all started off as strangers, mere individual - but in the course of combat, you shared items, shared strategies and attacks - worked together as a single unit. It is only by working together, by fighting through the tough choices that lie ahead, will we succeed in our ultimate fight." He suddenly reached into his blade, withdrawing two small Materia orbs, one a pure crystalline blue and the other a deep flaring red. "Final Attack and Phoenix." He said with a faint grin. "If you had finished me off, you wouldn't be standing here now. That was too be a harsh lesson for you all, that there is no fair - there is no concept of compassion or mercy in HIM. He will fight dirty, he will push you, manipulating both your body and your mind even as he fights. Never forget this..."

Sheathing his weapon, Cloud turned, heading towards the cavern which led back towards Cosmo Canyon. The group soon followed after him, Yuffie bringing up the rear. They walked in silence, reflecting on the battle that they had just won ... and on the one that lay ahead. Soon, they were back out under a full night sky with stars blazing overhead. One by one they made their way to the blazing bonfire and took a seat.

"From here on out, it gets even harder." Stated Cloud, almost a faint whisper. "As it stands, we have seven days to prepare. No matter how many ... it would never be enough." He paused, closing his eyes for a moment, before looking up once more. "Right now, we have one main objective - to discover the Reunion point - exactly where Sephiroth intends to reforge himself within the life-stream."

"Right." Yuffie agreed. "This will be you first true mission as Avalanche members. You need to make your way to a location, search through the town and see what you can find out..."

GM Notice
The world map is now open to all players. The first mission is for players to choose a specific location in the world and make their way there. If players are uncertain of FFVII destinations, they can check out the world map, or alternatively, you can ask Yuffie and she will provide a location for you. Players can go alone or together, it is completely up to you. In getting to your chosen destination, you can of course stop at other locations along the way.

When you travel between locations, a certain number of random encounters will initiate, depending on the distance between them - you will be notified of these as you set out. If you are travelling alone, remember to stock up on Potions, and remember the value of a using a Phoenix Down before you die. After an opponent has been defeated, you can decide to stay inbetween locations, if you wanted to level up more or if there was a specific monster that had something you needed.

Be warned however - though certain locations from the game could hold massive rewards, the danger level will be high. You are only level 1 at this point, so keep this in mind if you do decide to explore. Any questions, refer to the discussion thread...

Shadow heard Cloud's words and still had them ringing in his ears. "Sephiroth will have a hard time controlling me" Shadow muttered then he glanced at the world map. "hmmmm... let me see. i know! i'll head for condor and aid them in their defense. now which way is it to their again... oh yeah it's on the other continent. i'd best head for the harbor" Shadow turned and sat down on a nearby chair, waiting to see where the others would go so he wouldn't have to fight alone on this long trip.

The golden-haired sharpshooter released a sigh of relief, as Cloud finally announced that the battle had been won. With the effects of stop finally beginning to wear off, Yukio would step away from the wall, listening to what the 'leader' of AVALANCHE had to say. So, that was their initiation? Well, it's nice to know that fraternity-styled 'hazing' was still alive and well. And now...they were to set out into the world and track down clues about Sephiroth? They made it sound so simple!

Despite the rather vague instructions of 'track down clues regarding Sephiroth,' Yukio had already thought up a plan. They were not too far away from one area in particular...which housed many, many secrets, and a library full of information surrounding 'Sephiroth.' Despite Yukio's inflated ego, he was not so reckless as to set out of this place without some comrades. But who to choose? The ones who dealt the most damage, of course! Dusting off his attire, Yukio would approach Sage Mallory, the hot-headed kid who...despite his rash actions, did have a workable brain in his head. He was Yukio's first choice as a comrade. "Hey...Sage, was it? If we're going to be successful in our next mission, we need to team up. We'd be feeding ourselves to the wolves if we did this alone. I have a plan...if you're interested, come meet me by the fire outside, I have some shopping to do in the meantime." Yukio paused, slipping a hand into his pocket, and stepping away from the young man. "Oh! By the way, here...!" Yukio would turn back toward Sage, tossing him a Soma. Seems Yukio was a man of his word, after-all.

After Yukio had walked away from Sage, he would approach his next hopeful comrade. The Mage by the name of 'Kayne.' Standing before him, Yukio would offer a subtle, polite bow. "Mr. Kayne, I was hoping I could interest you in a proposition of sorts. You are quite a powerful Mage, and I believe...that in order for us to be successful in our next mission, we must form a solid team. I wish to ask for your assistance. I have a plan, and should you be interested in joining me, I wish for you to meet me by the camp-fire." With his piece said, he would bow his head, and turn away from the Mage. It was now time for him to get out of that forsaken cavern.

Making his way outside of the Cavern, Yukio's first course of action was to go to the different shops within Cosmo Canyon, so that he would be better-equipped for their trip ahead. His first stop, would be that most-hated Item Shop. Yukio stood before the creaky ladder that led to it's entrance, shaking his head in a disapproving manner. 'Oh well, if I'm expected to take down the world's greatest Tyrant, I'd better start by getting over my fear of heights.' Thinking to himself quietly, Yukio would reach for the ladder, and would steadily make his way up. All the while up, he just kept repeating to himself, in his mind: 'Don't look down, don't look down.' Once at the entrance, Yukio would pull himself up, and give the store owner a second glare. Talk about earning his right to shop! Walking over to the owner, Yukio would pull out two Somas, and one Echo Herbs, handing the owner 1150 gil. After stuffing his purchases in a pocket, he would make his way back towards that ladder, only having to side-step in order to get to the next store of choice; the Materia Shop.

Once inside, he'd glance at a glowing green orb, with a small sign reading 'Restore - 2000 gil' beside it. Yukio grimaced at the price, knowing that if he was back at home, he could have gotten that materia for free. Sighing, he'd begrudgingly hand the owner 2000 gil, and in exchange for his money, was handed that emerald orb of Restore materia. Without wasting any time, Yukio would place that glowing orb next to the blue 'All' orb within his battle rifle. If only those materia slots were linked, so he could get the full usefulness of the 'All' materia. He shrugged it off for now, knowing that soon enough, he'd have enough money to link his materia together. Now with that purchase made, he had one more stop to make; the Weapon Shop.

Exiting the Materia Shop, Yukio would look over it's rooftop, to see the hut of the Weapon Shop. Yukio knew that after he was done shopping, he'd never be ungrateful for walking on solid ground again. Climbing up another, smaller ladder, Yukio would step into the Weapon Shop. Pulling out his Battle Rifle, he would gently place it on top of the table, nearest the register. "I'd like a weapon upgrade, please." Glancing over at a sign which stated the 1500 gil price-tag for the task, he would grumble a bit, before pulling out 1500 gil and handing it over to the owner. After the modifications to his beloved rifle were completed, Yukio would disassemble it, and strap the components into their appropriate slots. It was time for him to head over to the camp fire.

Leaving the Weapon Shop, Yukio would climb down the first ladder, and hesitantly, would climb down the second, largest ladder. Unfortunately for Yukio, about mid-way down, his foot would cause the bottom rung to twist, and he would lose balance on the ladder. As a result, Yukio fell the remainder of the way. Miraculously, he was able to land on both feet, but the thud and audible grunt from the golden-haired 'fancy man,' was quote noticeable. Wincing, Yukio would slowly make his way over to the fire, each step bringing him closer and closer to his team's chosen 'meeting place.' But with each step, the grimace on his face would become more and more subtle, till the pain faded away entirely, and Yukio appeared as confident and capable as ever. After stepping up the slightly elevated plateau around the camp-fire, he would take a seat before it, waiting, with a hint of eagerness...for his hopeful comrades to arrive.

With the battle at a close, Alexander listened to what was said before returning to the surface of Cosmo Canyon. With the money he had he decided now was a good time to increase his chances of survival. First he headed to the materia shop, although not well suited to magic it would be useful if he had a few spells to back himself up with. When he entered the materia shop he looked around for a cure materia, upon finding one he picked it up and set it on the counter. Taking out 2000 gil from his pockets he placed it onto the counter before retrieving the materia from the counter. After leaving the shop he headed for the weapons shop, although strong, his weapon could still become more powerful, heading in and unsheathing his sword he placed it onto the counter and asked for an upgrade. After paying the man 1500 gil he took the sword and after a few minutes emerged with his sword, although not very noticeable to the naked eye it was stronger now. After leaving the shops he headed to the entrance of Cosmo Canyon, after sheathing his new blade he sat cross legged at the entrance and started to consider a location to head to, he tried to think back to places Sephiroth had once been to, places that he would hold significance to. There were various areas he could go to... Nibelheim, Mt. Nibel, The site of the temple of the ancients, The northern continent, the old shinra building, North crater. The areas were many but where to start his search? Sephiroth had first officially died in the Mt Nibel mako reactor so maybe he could begin his search there? But he would need aid first, perhaps one of the newer members of AVALANCHE could assist? Keeping a look out, he waited to see if any would approach.

'See what you can find out...'

A darkness passed over Sage Mallory, dazed from the successful battle that taxed everyone in the party. The unlit cigarette draped from his lips as he turned his glazed gaze to the stars. A week ago, he was alone in a city where you could never see the stars. It was a romanticized notion that a moonlit night under those large gaseous balls of fire was peaceful, beautiful, poetic. Now the ominous celestial bodies looming vehemently in the sky. Post-Meteorfall the appeared more like an invading army perched in eternal waiting ready to destroy everything in a whisper. And in seven short days, the unholy summoner of apocalypse would be reuniting with the physical world.

Sage smashed a closed fist into his open palm, loudly smacking over the crackling sounds of the roaring fire. His eyes opened wide, accusatory as he approached Yuffie and Cloud.

'See what you can find out?! Train an army?! This isn't a treasure hunt Yuffie! And its no kid game, Cloud! You don't get to 'be general' you either are or you're not!' Sage wrenched his hands around Cloud's turtleneck.

'We're all gonna do what we can, but if you know something that might help you should spit it out already and stop acting so f@#king superior!'

The cold stare in Cloud's eyes, was all the answer he needed. Sage knew, they were just as lost as everyone else. He knew that he was afraid and acting like a jerk was just about the only way he knew how to express it. I'm no better than that white knight Yukio, he thought lowering his grip on Cloud. With a sharp turn of his heals Sage stormed off away from the camp-fire.

His jumbled thoughts lead him expectantly taking him expertly through Cosmo Canyon as he sorted out his discomfort with the upcoming apocalypse. Before he reached his goal he felt a sharp tap on his shoulder. Tokugawa Yukio beamed at him with that disdainfully smug look on his face.

'Hmph, its you...what is it?' Sage asked mournfully uninterested.

"Hey...Sage, was it? If we're going to be successful in our next mission, we need to team up. We'd be feeding ourselves to the wolves if we did this alone. I have a plan...if you're interested, come meet me by the fire outside, I have some shopping to do in the meantime."

Yukio plopped a Soma into Sage's hand and ran off in the other direction. Looking up Sage noticed a familiar large hanging sign with the weapon-shop symbol on it. A sudden surge of understanding climbed to the top of his thoughts and Sage shoved his way into the shop.

6500 gil later Sage had purchased the only thing in the world that would make him feel better. A brand new weapon and an edge tonic.

The Side-Baton felt fresh pressed flush against his forearm. The clerk had accepted his challenge and offered an improvement that placed a side grip on his baton and filled the weapon out with a polyurethane mix making it heavy and solid.

With a flick of his wrist the weapon spun in a neat circle making a deadly 'whooshing' noise as it passed through the night air. Satisfied, Sage slung the improved piece over his shoulder and trudged down towards the flickering fire and the meeting with Yukio.

he was staring into the candle for about 10 minutes until his eyes started to hurt. he turned away with no answers and new questions. "hold on, they were fighting the hero "cloud" right? why? are they evil?? and i gave that guy my canteen..." he thought. he looked over to the cave just as they exited. seeing them break apart to individual places around the canyon and a few came over to near where he was sat. He stood up and walked away from the candle wanting to be alone for a short while to think, and not being too patient gave up and he walked over to the only person he truely knew...

"Yuffie, long time no see" he said to his old friend with a smile as he saw her face once again. "whats is really going on here?"

(Intro Post V 1.2
I just took my old intro post and edited it because I cba to make a full new one :P)

A mysterious man arrived to the scene. He was seen wearing a white collar shirt, light dark leather jacket which has two crossed flaming guns on the back of his jacket, black belt, black pants and brown boots. The jacket he wears has silver buttons which have a letters written in Old English font, with the sum of all letters forming the word “Angelus Zero”. He also had a silver chain necklace wrapped around his left wrist. The necklace has an emblem of a sword placed vertically behind a kite shield, with the shield’s surface split in four sections. Each section of the shield has a distinctive insignia; one is a lion, another one is a dragon, the following two are a shadow figure that resemblances a knight, and an angel. He also wears a ring on the middle finger of his left hand, the rings quite similar to the emblem hanging from his necklace. The name of this man was Zephyrum.
Zephyrum had spend the last few months investigating the archives he retrieved from the ruined laboratory from which he had emerged; he was hoping to find anything that would possibly allow him to dissipate the shadows surrounding his true identity.

Among the clues and files he had with him, one mentioned a possible hometown: Nibelheim. If this was true, then perhaps someone here would surely recognize him, or perhaps not. It was highly improbable, for it has been almost 25 years since he has been with away from here, at least, that's what he could conclude based on what was written on those files.

Nibelheim...

That name somehow reminded him of a past he had long since forgotten. His true name, his true self; all of that lied enshrouded in mysteries. Zephyrum was lost between past and present, searching for his lost memories. All he had left were incomplete clues, shattered pieces of the "mirror" that would surely make him look how he really is.

As he walked by the streets of Nibelheim, Zephyrum felt a strange sense of anxiety, even perhaps nostalgia, as if he were truly in home. Suddenly, a fierce headache took over him, forcing him to fall on his very knees with his face placed on the palms of his hands. Before his very eyes he saw the whole town ablaze, people screaming and running in fear. Then he heard voices, voices from his past...

"...Amatheus...."

"Amatheus...."

"Amatheus ....."

"You won't leave us....right?"
"Come on! We have to start moving!!!"
"Cosmo Canyon...here we go!!!"
"He will pay for what he has done....I promise!!!"

"SOLDIERS!!! Are you ready?!"

Those words, pieces of an incomplete puzzle, were all he had left after the flashback passed. Among the words, Zephyrum could recognize one as the name of a nearby location...

"Cosmo Canyon...."

Without losing more time, Zephyrum went back to his car -a black Chevrolet Corvette- and pulled the keys out of his pockets. He then opened the door, sat on the driver's seat, placed the key in the keyhole and ignited the engines. Zephyrum accelerated the car and then went driving at 50 mph straight to Cosmo Canyon...

Alexander got to his feet, considering all the available locations he could travel to it would probably be best to head to Nibelheim first, since that was where Sephiroth originally turned against the planet. Possibly a clue could be found to his new location? Since everyone was now preparing to head off it would be best if he made haste. Though alone, hopefully his stamina would hold out alone. Now ready he started to proceed out of Cosmo Canyon and began to plan his route, Taking a left out along the mountain road he eventually came to a grasslands, before him was a river, he'd have to find a way across, the water was too rapid for him to walk through, perhaps if he dammed the river temporarily he could get across that way? His thoughts were cut short when he heard a vehicle closing in near his location. Perhaps he could hitch a ride over the river? Before he could move however, he had to be wary of monster encounters, grabbing his sword in case of a fight he proceeded onward.

Shadow decided to do a few things before heading out. he walked over to the Weapons shop and noticed that there was a ladder. "no way i'm climbing a rickety old ladder like that" Shadow muttered, then jumped up and used his scythe to pull himself up. he walked over to the counter and said "i'll buy two weapon upgrades. here's the gil, and my weapon, and i'll pick it up later" Shadow gave the smith 3000 gil and his scythe, and the the smith grunted "k". as he left the shop, he jumped off the small cliff, and then walked over to the item shop, buying a soma and five potions. then he went back to the weapon shop, jumping up and grabbing onto the edge of the cliff and pulling himself up (Shadow really hates ladders). He grabbed his scythe, nodded to the weapon smith, and jumped down to the base of the canyon. then he considered his choice to go to Condor. Sephiroth never had been to Condor, and Shadow guessed Sephiroth had even heard of it. In fact, the only things of interest there would be the materia factory and the phoenix egg shell that was as big a landmark as the crater where the weapons used to sleep. the crater... of course! Sephiroth was last seen there, during the final battle before. he could probably find some clue of where Sephiroth is by going there. he decided that going alone would be fatal. he decided to seek out Fayd, the newcomer, and ask him for help. He looked around and saw him talking to Yuffie by the cave entrance. he walked over to them and tapped Fayd on the shoulder, saying "hey Fayd, do you want to help me with search somewhere? i'd rather not go alone, and you seem like a powerful person."

Location: Cosmo Canyon

Finally, Zephyrum had arrived to Cosmo Canyon after driving for almost half an hour. At first, Zephyrum thought of Cosmo Canyon to be a simple gathering site for scholars and other sorts of students that wished to learn more about "Gaia", but soon his eyes showed him that Cosmo Canyon quite much was also visited by hunters and random travelers. Perhaps, Zephyrum hoped, he would be able to find someone among these people who might have a clue to lead him to uncover his past.

With only 1500 gil in his wallet and his car almost out of gas, Zephyrum required to be wise when investing his money around the many shops scattered across Cosmo Canyon. He even wondered if he had enough to afford anything worth to take along, but for now, he would focus on the most important necessities: food and shelter.

Zephyrum went into the canyon, and parked his car behind the Weapon Shop building. As he emerged from his vehicle, Zephyrum took a small metallic briefcase that contained most of his items which included; his recovery items and the files he had gathered throughout his investigation. He then locked the car and went off to explore Cosmo Canyon.

Soon he found himself surrounded by several shops which sold weapons, materia, and all sorts of support-healing items. He searched his briefcase to make sure he had enough healing items to avoid wasting money on buying more than it is necessary.

As he explored his surroundings while at the same time interrogating the local townspeople, Zephyrum has stumbled across a brilliant discovery; a group named Avalanche is rumored to exist and to be active right here at Cosmo Canyon. In fact, much of what he heard leads him to believe that several members host reunions deep within the Forbidden Caves.

Zephyrum didn't knew if this group was financially supported by any third parties, but it was worth to try and find any means to get a decent job. Even though he was quite interested, Zephyrum was somehow doubtful on attempting to contact them, or even join their group. Perhaps they are simply one of the many groups of scholars that gather around in Cosmo Canyon, no more and no less; this being something Zephyrum couldn't tell for sure.

As he went towards the entrance of the Forbidden Caves, Zephyrum noticed a flier lying on the dusty ground. He knelt down to pick up the flier and then stood up while reading it.
ORGANIZATION OF MATERIA HUNTERS OF MIDGAR
-Because we hunt to live and live to hunt! Become a materia hunter today and be your own boss!-

"Materia Hunters huh? Maybe that might be the right way to make some money. I could sell and buy materia and become a merchant myself...."

Zephyrum wondered as he stared at the flier. He then sighed and tossed the flier away.

"What am I thinking? I would probably need loads of cash to start by myself...oh well...maybe I'll consider hunting materia later...right now I want to know what is happening inside that cave..."

As soon as he arrived by the entrance of the Forbidden Caves, Zephyrum did not fail to notice several people gathering; among them there was a scythe wielding black moogle (or he thought he was one), a mysterious looking female ninja carrying a large (or perhaps exaggeratedly LARGE) shuriken, and a third person being a mysterious warrior.

At first, Zephyrum thought of talking to them but seeing they were in the middle of a conversation, he thought not prudent to interrupt them, after all, it is inappropriate to arrive interrupting in the middle of a conversation. Sighing, he simply limited himself to pass by them without pronouncing a single word, his eyes fixed on the passage leading inside the caves.

Suddenly, Zephyrum recalled seeing a man (Alexander) while driving to Cosmo Canyon, and for an instant he wondered what had happened to him. After much thought, Zephyrum decided to resume his investigation and he went off to explore the Forbidden Caves yet however; for some unknown reason he made a sudden stop and remained motionless before going inside.

The vehicle drove closer towards Alexander. Though his initial assumption was that he might be able to hitch a ride across the river, he suddenly realised that the very path of the on-coming vehicle had an aggressive stance. It seemed to be heading directly for him. Raising his weapon, he began to tense as he realised that these were not simple passer-bys on their way to Nibelheim. They were bandits.

Two forms soon became more distinct as they raced towards their intended 'prey'. Both were travel-worn, their faces and clothing giving the appearance of being unwashed for days, the hungry look in their eyes revealing their lust for Gil and profit. In both hands was a cruel curved knife, most suited for slitting throats or puncturing glands for as most bleed-out as possible.

The vehicle suddenly skidded to a halt mere feet away from Alexander, and the two would-be thieves dove out to strike...

Cloud remained silent, letting Sage vent his rightful frustrations. Even after all this time, it was still difficult for him to reflect upon his status, to know that others did look towards him for some form of leadership. He was no leader. He simply did what he could, when he could, and trusted that his closest allies - no, his friends - would be by his side to see it through. He was asking a lot of them ... but he had no choice. Given other circumstances, he would have guided them through all this, but time was of the essence.

Turning, he walked off alone, seeking Cid. He was heading to the Northern Crater, and would need the use of Sierra...

"Yuffie, long time no see. ... Whats is really going on here?"

Yuffie turned her gaze away from the flames, and caught sight of Fayd, the stealthy young man from the group's earlier encounter in the Forbidden Caves. She managed to smile slightly, lost in long-since past memories of an older time in Wutai, of star-less nights on the beach training with Fayd, or cold winters up in the mountains killing small monsters that ventured to far too the village. She had almost forgotten about him.

"It's a LONG story." She grinned, yet her smile no longer held any laughter lines. "Someone just won't stay dead and we need to take him out before he rises up once more." Closing her eyes for a moment, she turned back to face the fire, unconsciously playing with her pinwheel weapon. "We'll need all the help we can get to fight this coming battle. Do you ... could you help us?" The last came out, almost as a plea. Yuffie shivered, remembering the last time that she had fought Sephiroth.

She tried not to look at Fayd. This was more than just a request. Asking this meant possible death, but what else could they do? She had resigned herself to her fate, to help in this fight, but she couldn't truly expect others to do likewise. Just then, Shadow emerged...

"Hey Fayd, do you want to help me with search somewhere? i'd rather not go alone, and you seem like a powerful person."

Yuffie turned to Fayd as she awaited his answer to Shadow's question. Perhaps he COULD be persuaded to help out. She slowly smiled then, the old humour returning to her features. Not that HE was any better than her during their old training sessions, but a friendly face, and another blade, would be more than welcome when facing against their old foe...

Barret turned, his eyes drawn to that of the young man who casually strode towards the entrance to the Forbidden Caves. Those eyes ... almost feline in their slant, began to make him feel rather uncomfortable. For the first time in his life, Barret broke off the eye-contact first, shaking his head, but as he rose them once more, the stranger still stood before him. It was then that Barett took a closer look at him - his athletic build, well toned muscles, and strange bluish grey hair - definately the look of someone who could take care of himself, the weapons at his side only highlighting this fact.

"You looking to join Avalanche?" Gruffed Barret, his bulky arms folded across his chest. "We're recruiting." He said simple, finishing his appraising glance of Zephyrum. "You interested?"

Location: Currently on the helicopter flying above the Golden Saucer and approaching Cosmo Canyon

Abigail was sitting on the passengers seat, she had her headset on and was ready to listen to any order given to her by her higher ups. Their was a silence on the helicopter ride...though it was just Abigail and the pilot. They had not spoke a word to each since the take off.

As they were flying above The Golden Saucer, Abigail peek out of the window and looked down the wonderous theme park...

"I remember when my Grandad used to take me there when I was younger!" Abigail broke the silence...
The pilot replied, "Oh really?"
"Yeah!" Abigail smiled, "We made it a yearly habit from when I was 5 going on until I left Costa Del Sol really...But the trip there was difficult...but it did get easier as I got older, me and my grandad usually ran from the monsters...What a way to get to a theme park, eh?"
The pilot laughed, "Yeah! I gotta admit, that route does seem a bit akward for a family!"

The two both shared a laugh, the silence was broken, and the two shared a conversation, until someone eventually spoke to Abigail on her headset.

"Hold on, I'm getting something," Abigail told the pilot, "Nilem here,"
The voice then said, "You are approaching Cosmo Canyon I trust?"
"Yes," Abigail replied,
"Okay, remember, your job is pretty straight forward. We would like you to research the earth of Cosmo Canyon," The voice said...
Abigail closed her eyes and sighed, "Yes sir, I have my laptop at the ready test tubes...everything I will need to research it..."
"Good, remember, the WRO are counting on you..." The voice said,
"You made a good choice on someone to count on then," Abigail smiled,

The communication then ended, Abigail sighed and looked out the window...she notice Cosmo Canyon in the distance...

"How long till landing?" Abigail asked the pilot,
"3 minutes ma'am..." The pilot replied...
Abigail then sat back and sighed, "I have a feeling I will be doing more than researching here..."

Alexander heard the vehicle approach him, turning to face it he saw a 2-man group of bandits. Unsheathing his blade he prepared to begin combat, checking his equipment was ready he charged fr the Thief and thrust his blade into him and then kicked him to the floor to release his blade from him. Stepping back to avoid an attack from the Bandit he placed his weapon in front of his body to guard slash attacks as best he could.

"Hmph... With these being bandits I'd betterguard my items well, I can't afford to lose anything while I am alone."

One hand clenched against the stabbing-wound that Alexander had inflicted upon him, the Thief attempted to get back onto his feet, eyes darting to and fro from his comrade. The Bandit continued to circle around Alexander, forcing him to have to draw his attention to one of them, and in the moment that he did that, they would strike. The Bandit drove forward first, slight-of-hand and agile as the wind - sending a strike to the side of Alexander's chest that winded him for a moment, and he used this opening to swipe a Phoenix Down from out of his pouch.

The Thief then stealthily attacked, racing towards Alexander and darting away without even a scratch. As Alexander pondered on what had just happened, he realised that he no longer had access to one of his All materia orbs. The Thief had stolen it. He'd have to kill him in order to get it back...

(Finally this stupid compy allowed me to post)
"You looking to join Avalanche?" Gruffed Barret, his bulky arms folded across his chest. "We're recruiting." He said simple, finishing his appraising glance of Zephyrum. "You interested?"

"Avalanche?" Zephyrum's eyes widened as he heard the name of that famous group being pronounced. He slowly turned around to see who was the one talking to him, and then his eyes stumbled with a large man. That man was quite threatening, his arms were as huge as those of a bodybuilder and not to mention that one of his arms was a mechanical arm with a customized Gatling Gun attached to it. Zephyrum was impressed, for such rarity of technology was not likely to be seen, at least, that's what he thought. Was he really interested in recruiting me? Zephyrum wondered.

Zephyrum got a hold of himself, staying calm and hoping not to blow off such opportunity. The young traveler folded his arms and leaned against the wall as he put much thought in Barret's proposal. Sure he would be able to make a living out of it, but was it really the right choice?

Our world is made of choices; each choice we make creates a new path for our life while the choices that we didn't make ultimately destroy an alternate future. All is based in cause and effect, with each individual action causing an almost identical and opposite reaction.

Still, this was not a time of doubtfulness, for Zephyrum required all the help he could gather in order to rebuild what little life he had.

"Avalanche you say? For Gaia I thought I would never get a chance to meet one of its members, let alone being invited to join. I am actually looking for a job, any job, in order to raise some funds because...well I am broke...ahahahaha...and I need money...at least enough to continue my investigation. I also believe that Avalanche has the responsibility of protecting the planet...if that is so... I guess it will be worth to lend you a hand as well."

Zephyrum laughed briefly after his first failed attempt of a joke, but then he sighed and moved on to continue the conversation.

"Count me in. I believe that Avalanche has the responsibility of protecting the planet...if that is so... I guess it will be worth to lend you a hand as well. What do I need to do?" Zephyrum said with a firm determination on his voice. His eyes burned with an intense fire that clearly showed his strong iron will. Regardless of not remembering anything of his past, Zephyrum always seemed slightly optimistic concerning the future he wanted to build for himself.
