[RP] Final Fantasy IX: Scars of Terra

"Well aren't we the cheery one, sure, rain might do us good but too much can destroy just as easily as it creates you know, i'm sure you've heard the expression 'too much of a good thing' of course"

As the rain began to dampen her suit underneath her robe she wrapped it more tightly around her "As for my reason for being here? Don't have one, i'm just tagging along till we get to Lindblum, it's not like I could get back on my own without transport, not with all the Mist out there, may as well stick a lump of meat on me and throw me in a Behemoth den. Anyway this rain is starting to bug me..."

Turning to leave she caught sight of most of the group leaving a house, though the grumpy samurai and Twin Sword were nowhere to be seen "well it's not like standing in the rain will get me any warmer" not thinking to say any farewells to the man she began to make her way inside the house. First taking note of Freya who she gave an affirmative nod before removing her robe to let down her long hair, leaving it to dry before taking note of the samurai on the floor with Twin Sword wrapped around him.

"Well if you'd look at that, looks like you pulled! Annelise won't be too happy" Lucia teased before sitting down cross legged by the fire to let her leather suit dry off before the male company got any wandering eyes.

"What got you all upset?"

Alleria certainly wasn't upset. Just disappointed, somewhat. Or maybe melancholic, she didn't know. Either way, it probably wasn't something she would want to share with this stranger. Although it was clarified by now she wasn't with the Oeilvert Army despite her armor, Alleria still couldn't find it in herself to fully trust her.

She did manage to force a smile though.

"Don't worry, it's nothing."

Walking behind Annelise, she decided to avoid further conversation with Remilia. Robert would lead the way. She needed some rest.

Robert Crescent
Sir Fratley

Robert looked over to Stephan when he asked his question. "We go as a group. Come on everyone, let's go see what the king wants." Robert said as he began to head out of the room. He'd wait until everyone who was going was with him before he'd head straight for the throne room.

Meanwhile, Fratley had given the all clear signal to the people in the passageway, signaling for them to disengage the traps. "Good work people. However, we're still on alert. I don't think our enemies will give up this easily. I want groups of two on rotating shifts in each chamber; one Dragon Knight and one Black Mage." Fratley spoke, addressing his men. He then made his way down the passages into the last room. The room had a single walkway with enough room for one person, which led to a 'island' with a pillar which held the mirror. In the space surrounding the pillar was an inside sewer moat that was a good ten feet deep with no way back up if someone fell in, at least not without outside help. On a pedestal was a mirror, but the mirror was a fake. Fratley moved to the eastern part of the small stone pillar island and bent down, pressing a stone brick on the side of the pillar that just barely stuck out. This caused the pedestal to rise up, reveling a small inside shelf where the real mirror lay. He placed the mirror from Cleyra with the Burmecian one and pushed the pedestal back down to reset it. He then left to head back to the throne room.

Remilia Oveilia

"We go as a group. Come on everyone, let's go see what the king wants."

"Aww. Already?" Remilia asked as she looked at Robert before she started to follow Robert. The summoner started to leave the house as she looked up at the clouds.

"I wonder how Lan is holding out." Remilia wondered as she stepped out of the house and waited for everyone else to leave the house, following the last person that left the house.

"Hmm. I wanna see the house. Besides, I wanna see lil sis Anne get some sleep."

"Heh, cute..." Annelise smiled before following Robert down the street to the family household. It was not that far, and as they walked inside, Twinsword led Ricard over to a couch, continuing to huggle him to the Alexandrian Knight's dismay. But before she was able to protest, Freya arrived.

"Ah, there you are. Robert, the king requests to see you and your friends. It's rather urgent."

"Alright, but one of my friends is injured and needs rest."

"I'll watch over your friend. Once you're done speaking with the king, come back here."

"Alright, thank you Freya." Anne bowed before walking out the door and back into the rain. Following Robert and the party back to Burmecia's castle, she saw for herself the damages caused from the battle, the injured people being healed by clerics from both Burmecia and Cleyra, while it seemed that Burmecia would recover, the Mist Continent may never know peace for a long time.

Watching Twin Sword pretty much drag Ricard to the couch, Lucia let out a small chuckle before turning to Freya "how adorable" half with a sarcastic tone as she pushed her bust up her shirt slightly before turning to Twin Sword and Ricard "almost too cute to interfere... Almost" grabbing Twin Sword by the shoulders she pulled her down to the floor before cuddling her tightly, forcing Twin Sword's head into her bosom, sensing that Freya probably wouldn't approve of the sight she walked off with Twin Sword still buried in her chest and walked to another room, closing the door before releasing a partly suffocated and clearly annoyed Twin Sword from her grip.

"So you like Ricard then? I hope you're ready to compete for him, it's not like you're the only member of his fan club"

-------------------------------------

As Lucia walked off with Twin Sword, Ricard stood up and shook his head before sitting down cross legged in front of Freya "so what exactly is the king going to discuss? I'm going to assume you got a hint at least"

Robert Crescent
Freya Crescent

Robert couldn't help but facepalm when Lucia made a move on Twinswords. This female was going to be a giant pain in the tail. "If you're done messing around little miss, we can get going." Robert said with a slightly irritated tone of voice. He would lead the group to the castle and into the throne room to approach King Puck. He would kneel down before his brother-in-law before looking up at him. "What did you wish to discuss, your majesty?" Robert asked as he stood back upon his feet.

Back at the house, Freya shook her head a bit and gave a sigh. "It's like a female version of Zidane, only slightly more annoying." Freya spoke with a shrug of her shoulders. She then looked over to Ricard as he asked her about the talks. "I would imagine the king wants to plan out what's next. Burmecia was able to fight the Oielvert army off, but I doubt that was their full strength. Think about it. There are four mirrors and we possess two. It would make more sense for them to try and get the other mirrors first and then come back for Burmecia once again. I doubt they'll attempt a war against Lindblum since Regant Cid's Airship armada rivals any military in the world, so I suspect only scouts and rogues would be sent there to try and steal the mirror there through stealth. Alexandria, however, is more than likely a war target. They don't have Lindblum's airship army. What they do have is more formidable than ours by far. So more than likely you and the rest will either split up and head to Linblum and Alexandria, or you'll be sent to Alexandria directly while word is sent to Lindblum by others. That's just my guess." Freya explained.

With everyone he requested in front of him, King Puck said, "We have secured a victory over the Oeilvert military, but unfortunately, through our scouts still in the area, we have confirmed that the enemy has sent in additional troops to reinforce their position. The situation is that they now outnumber us by a considerable margin."

Puck stood up, holding 2 letters in hand. "We've received this letter just a few moments ago. It was from an individual named Lan, of which was intercepted by a scout returning from Burmecia. One has been addressed to you, while the other was to be sent to Lindblum, presumably for Regent Cid."

"With all due respect, it's a bit rude to read a person's mail."
Anne said.

"My apologies, but I only heard from what the scout told me, I'm not certain what the contents themselves say."
Puck held out her letter in his hand, which she grabbed to read.

"It reads:

Annelise,
Get everyone to Lindblum now! Just found out that two lord generals is on their way there for an infiltration mission. The mission will start in two days. The lord general's name is Ninja and Brandish.

Ninja is a ninja. So expect him to attack with your guards down. Brandish is a knight. But she currently has second thoughts about the war. All in all, that is all six lord generals accounted for. Festival of the Hunt will be happening at Lindblum as well.

Also, this may sound weird, but who trained you to become a knight?

Lan Ester

"Then I assume what the message to Cid, is to increase protection around his Elemental Mirror. In that case, all of you will depart for Lindblum tomorrow. If Lindblum is their next target, then we will need to give them all the help they can."

"And what of Alexandria, shouldn't they know of the situation as well?"

"Lord Fratley and Lady Freya shall move for Alexandria, they will be departing the same time, but they will head the quickest path to Alexandria, through the North Gate."

(OOC: Robert, if you may, you could make the request to bring Twinsword along with you, since I don't think Puck knows about that yet.)

Robert Cescent

Robert gave a nod to Puck's orders. "Very well. However, I do have one other matter to discuss with you. It is thanks to General Twinswords that were were made aware of the trap at Cleyra and for aiding us in the capture of General Pirate. I would like to suggest that she be placed under my authority. That way she will still be a prisoner of Burmecia in that regards, and I believe her aid will be invaluable in our campaign. She knows the enemy well enough and has most likely already been branded a traitor by them. Were she to try to return to them, they would most likely put her to death." Robert explained.

"We've received this letter just a few moments ago. It was from an individual named Lan, of which was intercepted by a scout returning from Burmecia. One has been addressed to you, while the other was to be sent to Lindblum, presumably for Regent Cid."

"Lan's ok. That's good to hear." Remilia said smiling as she looked at Anne while she read the letter.

"How do we get to Lindblum? The only way we can get there is by air isn't it?" Remilia asked looking at Pucks.

Lan Ester

Lan pulled a chocobo out of the stables as he got on it. A guard walked up to Lan and saluted him.

"Sir, are you going to meet up with Brandish and Ninja?"

"No. I'll head off to Lindblum first. It is not for the mission. Right now, the Festival of the Hunt is being prepared and I want to participate in it. It will also give me a chance to look into the security. If either of them are to look for me while in Lindblum, tell them to find a green robed man. Notify Brandish and Ninja of my decision." Lan replied looking at the scout.

"Sir!" the guard saluted as he walked off to where either Ninja or Brandish were.

Lan shooed the chocobo into a full out run as he left the main Oeilvert camp. Soon Clerya faded from view as the Grotto slowly came into view.

"I have to make sure Lindblum is prepared. This war will not wait. Ya!" Lan muttered as he spurred the chocobo forward with his tail.

Popo's Heights

“Man it's pretty chilly.”

Getting accustomed to the suit he had been given by Mutatsu was a bit strange. The shinobi shizoku appeared baggy, but this was just an after affect of how the cloth had been folded. Upon closer inspection it doesn't even have pockets, just deep folds where they would be where, if you were so inclined, could sort of use as a place holder for things. Air flew freely through the cloth though, and the cool breeze tickled at Noah's skin, with goosebumps making their presence known under the clothing.

Noah took a moment to enjoy the night sky that projected itself across the land. With a myriad of lights brightening the view, there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Which is strange, considering just on the other side of the mountain range was the rainy land of Burmecia. Collecting himself, Noah wondered where his would be master was.

“Mutatsu? Hmph, tells me to come outside and the old coot is nowhere to be found.”

“Maybe you aren't as perceptive as I thought....”

Dropping from the roof of the shack, Mutatsu landed soundlessly on the grassy soil behind Noah. A dead silence filled the air right before the commencement of their training. The distant squawking of Garudas and gallant roars of Grand Dragons being the only sounds that pierced the air around them.

“Tell me kid, how do you notice when an opponent is looming near?”

Noah had never really thought about it, he just sort of relied on his intuition to lead the way.

“When there's a disturbance in the air around me, or a sense of uneasiness fills the air. Sort of intuition, so to speak.”

“So why didn't you notice me?”

“I'm not sure. I mean, I didn't feel anything around me.”

“And that is the power of the Shinobi. Well, one who is decent at least.”

Mutatsu walked past Noah and turned around to face him before crossing his arms and continuing his speech.

“Manipulating the senses around us, leaving as little a trace of ourselves as possible. You will learn this. In due time.”

Then, reaching into the folds of his hakama, Mutatsu pulled out a small scroll. When opened, it revealed exotic characters and fantastically ornate pictures of the destructive nature of elements.

“Tell me, what do you know about magic?”

“I know enough to know that I'm no good at it.”

“Well, that's what we have this for.”

Mutatsu pointed to the scroll.

“This contains the teachings of Shinobi who mastered the art of channeling their inner aura, chakra if you will; into a tool. We call this Ninpō.”

Sparking his interest, Noah listens intently to what Mutatsu has to say.

“Now, of course I'm not expecting you to master every art. Hell, I don't even expect you to be at an adept level of one in the short time we have. But I will at least impart some knowledge on you. Think of the element that most resonates with you, and we'll go from there. Be sure now, because though your mind plays tricks on you, your chakra will not lie to you.”

The strength to flow with the current, but also to rend anything that stands before it down swiftly. The ability to travel freely throughout the land and the abiding elixir to all life. Noah's innate element was that of the wind.

“You look like you've come to a decision. So then show me the conviction that lies beyond those eyes.”

"Alright, I think I've gotten it."

Concentrating himself, Noah swiftly threw a right hook at the wind. Following his fist was a quick gust of wind. Feeble, yet very noticeable, carrying blades of grass out of their homes in the soil and out to the sky.

Taken aback by the showing, Mutatsu turned from Noah to hide a pleased smirk on the man's face.

“Just like myself huh? This kid may be a little more than he lets on.”

Flipping his hair away from his face, he turns back to Noah again.

“That's some power you got there. Now it's time to harness it.”

(OOC: It seemed a lot shorter when I originally wrote it x_x . Hope it's good enough.)

"I understand. In this case, I would leave her in your capable hands Robert." Turning his attention to the group, Puck finally, said, "If there are no further questions, you are all dismissed."

Anne got on her feet and saluted Puck before leaving in the direction of Robert's house. She knows that she'll have to respond to Lan's message, but it'll have to wait until they reach Lindblum.

"Alright then. Let's return to the house. You can all spend the night there. We leave first thing in the morning." Robert said before he headed off towards his parents' home. On his way, however, his two brothers rushed out to him. Each one grabbed one of Robert's arms and pulled him towards their smithy. "Hey, bro! Come with us!" Simon spoke as Atrus opened the door. "We've got something you'll love!" Atrus said immediately after.

Once inside, Atrus swiped Robert's lance and brought it over to the synth smithy. "Hey! What are you doing! That's dad's lance!" Robert protested. Simon patted Robert's shoulder. "No, it's your lance. Dad gave it to you, and now we're going to make it even better. Besides, dad gave us the OK to do it."

Robert's left eye twitched. "Besides, since Mom is going to be going to Alexandria, you'll be representing Burmecia in her place. In fact, you're already signed in for it." Atrus said as he went to work working and remolding the lance before adding several other powdered stones.

"The hell? Would it have killed you guys to talk to me first about all of this?" Robert protested. Things were just piling on up for the Dragon Knight as he felt almost completely out of the family loop.

"Oh and don't worry. We took the time to make that birthday present for Sarah. Mom will of course be giving it on your behalf. Every girl likes some nice jewelry and flowers. Maybe they might set up a date for you two." Simon teased, knocking Robert off of his normally cool and collective state. "T-that's preposterous! It's not like that! Sarah and I are friends!" Robert continued to protest, this time his face becoming quite flustered.

The two brothers chuckled. They enjoyed teasing their brother Robert. After some work, Atrus inscribed magical runes along the blade and cooled the weapon, handing Robert the finished lance. "Anyways, this is a recipe that Simon and I came up with. We did a few experiments with some similar weapons until we got it down perfect. Father told us you had to fight off a summoner, which is rather weird to believe that there's more than just Garnet and Eiko. It's stronger than father's and the runes hold a special property that will inflict Silence on an enemy. Should you have to deal with the summoner or any spellcaster again, this will become a great boon." Atrus explained. "I also use mithril to make the lance lighter while still keeping the top weighted and balanced."

Robert took the lance and spun it around a few times as if it were a bo staff before holding it upright. "Sounds good. Still, I wish you guys would run things by me first." Robert spoke, causing Atrus and Simon the laugh. "What, and miss your hissy-fit of the century? Not on your life!" Simon joked.

After what seemed like an hour for the entire process, Robert headed back to his home. Freya and Robert's sister Farah would be there waiting, along with Fratley.

"I see your brothers did an excellent job transforming my old lance. Of course, now it's completely your own." Fratley spoke. Robert gave a bit of a sigh. "Why does everyone leave me out of the loop?" Robert asked as he shrugged his shoulders.

Freya chuckled. "We all have to have some fun every now and then Robert, otherwise you'll become too serious for your own good. However, I think you'll find the Festival of the Hunt to be a great means to put your skills as a Dragon Knight to the test. I may be the current champion, but I won't be holding the title forever." Freya spoke with a chuckle.

"Still though, I want you to keep your wits about you. The Festival will be the perfect time for Oielvert to strike. These mirrors need to be protected at all costs. Promised Land or not, Cyrill's war more than proves his intentions will have harmful effects for everyone." Freya explained. "And I'll be sure to say hello to Zidane, Garnet and everyone while we're there on your behalf." she added.

"Alright then. Let's return to the house. You can all spend the night there. We leave first thing in the morning."

"No thanks. I think I'll sleep at the inn close to your hose Robert if you don't mind."

Remilia sighed as she got up from her kneeling position. She followed Anne out of the throne room and smiled. Stretching her arms for a bit, the summoner walked up away from the group.

Remilia walked around the city and soon enough, she found an inn close to Robert's house that she went into. After paying for a night's stay, Remilia went into a room where she saw a green robe, a napsack, and a Old looking Cat's Claw. Looking confused, the summoner called out to the inn keeper and asked if her room was taken. The inn keeper responded with a no as Remilia returned to her room.

"Ok... I guess I'll try the robe on." Remilia muttered as she put the green robe on her. It didn't complement her well as she took it off and stuffed the Claw and the robe into the napsack. Putting her staff next to her bed, Remilia jumped into bed and smiled.

"I wonder who's stuff this is."

The grotto is a welcomed sight for Lan as he reached the entrance. Smiling, Lan slowly spurred the chocobo into the grotto. Rushing through the Grotto, Lan eventually made it to the other side of the grotto before he decided to set up camp for the night.

"Great. I should have told Anne to bring my stuff along to Lindburg. Oh well. I might as well sleep with what I have. Come on here chocobo. Let's rest here." Lan muttered as he got off the chocobo. The chocobo did look tired as it nestled down to sleep. Taking advantage of the oversized bird as a pillow, Lan laid his head on a wing of the Chocobo as he looked up to the sky.

"The next few days will determind everything."

With that, Lan's eyes shut close as he fell to sleep.

Alleria was quiet as she followed Annelise. This was the life that she was anticipating so much. A soldier who follows orders like a mindless robot; Alleria would never have thought that a derogatory remark about the job of a Knight would make so much sense under these circumstances.

Which was why she felt rather relieved that things were settling down for now. Perhaps, when she woke up the next day, she would have recovered her enthusiasm. That was what she was thinking as she followed Annelise to Robert's house. While on the train of thought, she remembered her desire to duel with Annelise.

Not now, she thought to herself in a harsh manner.

In retrospect, she was sleeping before she was rudely plunged into the chaos of battle. As it stood, she was more weary than she ever had been. The day had been unusually strenuous, even for her, despite having underwent a comparably tough training regime with the Ipsen Knights.

"Excuse me," said Alleria upon reaching what presumably was Robert's home. Her eyes were getting heavier and she was getting more desperate to escape the Burmercian rain. Stumbling into the house, she made for the closest door she could find. It was probably not a bedroom, or maybe it is, but she didn't care at this point.

Closing the door, she leaned against the wall beside it, slid down, and was promptly asleep.

[OOC: Feel free to decide which room she went into, if necessary.]
