{RP} Only By a Margin (stat based GM run RP)

Rhys remains behind the pack of strangers, keeping a close eye out for anything out of the blue. Of course I'm put into this trial, he mumbles, keeping one hand gripped on a weapon's holster. No one's taken too much notice of me yet, so I'll use that to my advantage.

He takes notice of the various vials scattered about in the next room. Poison? He approaches one, kneels, flips the top off, and takes a quick sniff. Nothing. A sip follows; he waits for an effect. Still looking good. He tips his head back, with the contents of the vial flowing down his throat. Within a second or two, Rhys squeezes his eyes shut, and scattered visions of shadowy figures appear quickly, in which one is sneaking up on the other. Uh oh. Watch out!

Rhys snaps to and shakes his head, lobbing the vial aside. "Anyone else find the contents tasty?" he asks everyone sarcastically.

--------------------

Actions: Rhys follows everyone through the door, drinks vial contents, and learns Sneak Attack.

Lyrnya rolled her eyes in frustration at the stupidity and recklessness of the man. "Could have, but didn't" he says. God damn if she is to be killed because of this man's stupidity. The others question him about the content, but the situation didn't improve with the revelation of what was written.

Stranger... worry?... strangers not bad? Strangers friends?

Worried? Of course i am. Don't know where i am and some guy is just "bull-in-the-china-shop"ing around. I'd thought the situation would call for some caution, but apparently not... as for friends... since you haven't tried to gut me yet, i guess you can say we are allies for now...

"Go through the door and drink the vial. If you don't you get- ... purged or something."

Brilliant... Bloody brilliant...

Without a choice, Lyrnya followed after the other three that had gone through the door and was met with a row of bottles all lined up. She can only guess that THOSE are the bottles they had to drink in order to avoid being purged. Her eyes scanned across the bottles when one caught her attention. The liquid inside was metallic looking in nature and seemingly throbbed and looked and the runes looked as if it was struggling out of the glass bottle. It was really intriguing and subconsciously, Lyrnya strolled over and pulled it out of its stand. The moment she grabbed it, the throbbing intensified and the runes went even more crazy.

Well... here goes...

Popping off the sealed cork, Lyrnya poured the content down her throat. Even the liquid seemed to vibrate and bounce about as it went down her throat, except now, there is a roaring rushing sound in her mind. As odd as the sensation was, it didn't make her feel like puking, as she thought it would have. Instead, a second or so after it hit her stomach, the roar crescendo into one loud rush before quickly extinguish.

OOC: Couldn't resist

"Anyone else find the contents tasty?"

Mine tasted like a bit like toffee. Surprising, given the colour.

Action: Lyrnya followed others into room and drank potion. Learned Violent Thrust

Smiling with the assurance he was among allies, Garthal stepped into the new room, eyeing the vials and their runes.

"These vials...?" he inquired, taking the others' reactions as a confirmation. He squinted as he gazed at the floating writing, pondering its meaning, and slightly frustrated to see them moving around. When they stopped, however, they had formed a set of letters familiar to the lizardman- very crudely shaped, but definitely some form of writing.

"Vial know Garthal?" he read the rough script, placing his axe within a strap on his leather top as he grasped the drink. Holding it close to his eyes, he leered at the speartip-shaped leaf swirling within it, as if trying to study it. As he noticed that the others were already downing their potions without problems- although the round-headed one did have a very unusual method of doing so- Garthal threw caution aside, and chugged the contents of his.

The concoction washed his throat, feeling little different than a drink of water seasoned with the taste of chopped animal meats... when all of a sudden, a strange fury came over him. He clenched the torch and bottle in his clawed hands tightly, feeling compelled to shout at the top of his lungs and fly into a berserk rage- and yet, before he could open his mouth, his thoughts returned to their former state.

"G-Garthal okay..." he promised, regaining the calm, curious composure he entered the room with.

"...dandelion and burdock. Interesting flavor,"

"Mine tasted like a bit like toffee. Surprising, given the colour."

By that point, Garthal declined to ask what flavors they were referring to. It had become clear no matter where these people were from or where they were, they were familiar with many concepts he had never heard of, or at least not in their particular choice of words.

"Garthal drink like broth..." he explained, staring at the now-empty bottle in his hand as he wondered how exactly it drove him to anger like it did...

------------------------------

Action: Enter room and drink potion, learn Taunt

Purged bad...?

Gennaen pushed open the door to the second room of the cave and found it lined with a row of vials on the opposite end. Six vials for six people. Well, four people, a lizard, and a mushroom. Surely a coincidence, Gennaen thought to himself. "Well, Scales," he said in response to the lizardman's question. "It's probably not good."

He looked in the general direction of the row of vials, but found that he couldn't focus on any one vial in particular, especially the runes. Doing so caused his vision to go fuzzy and his head to swim slightly. Except for one. Upon focusing his attention on the vial to the far right of the row, he saw the runes suddenly morph into a dark script spelling out his name. Well that's subtle.

Gennaen made his way to the vial with his name on it. The liquid was a deep, dark midnight blue color that seemed to pulsate and swirl with energy. Picking up the vial, the liquid inside hardly moved, and seemed somewhat heavier than Gennaen expected. He raised the vial in a bit of a toasting motion towards the petite woman beside him. "Cheers, Big Ears."

He tossed back the contents of the vial, nearly gagging on the viscosity of the liquid. It was like drinking the sacramental oil in some of the rituals at the Seminary. Tasted about as good too. The liquid settled in the pit of his stomach like a rock, then dissipated. He felt the heaviness spread up his chest, across his shoulders, down his arms and into his fists. He flexed his hands, suddenly understanding the power that his fists could bring.

Anyone else find the contents tasty?

"Terrible. But the results were good."

Action: Drink vial; Learn Flurry.

As the new arrival unrolled the scroll, Syrua couldn't help but to take a step back in hesitation while still holding on to the hilt of his saber. With no pending consequences, but the contents of a note and warning, Syrua sighed in relief which was quickly followed by a quick roll of his as he shook he said saying to himself, "Humans..."

"Go through the door and drink the vial. If you don't you get- ... purged or something."

As Syrua couldn't argue with the logic he followed suit but maintained alertness, hoping to be prepared for anything. When entering the room everyone seemed to quickly gravitate to the potions. Syrua in his alert manner did so slowly. He uncorked the potion and stared and sniffed it for sometime hoping to divulge its contents before drinking. He watched as everyone drank and seemed to be alright, in fact he was surprised at how they all reacted to the different tastes.

Syrua, knowing that 'being purged' was the other option closed his eyes and threw the potion back. His immediate reaction was a slight smile, it reminded him of his mothers Elven leaf tea in which he drank every afternoon with her surfacing happy memories. "Wow, tasty to say the least."

A surge of energy began to engulf Syrua, this feeling of power overtook him as he felt a spike of strength in his whole being. "This potion, it gave us strength! Why?" Syrua mentioned and questioned.

Actions: Drinks potion and learns Offensive - Wind Edge

As the last vial is ingested the last door opens into a long and dark hallway, fresh damp and moldy smelling air come rushing into the room. At least this one is not already void of breathabillity.
There is very limited light down the hallway and a second after the door opened the one into the dome closes. The hallways seems to be made of natural cave formations with the odd man-worked section in between. The walls are damp to the touch and puddles of cave-water here and there.

Gennaen placed his empty vial back down on the table and walked toward the now open door. He smelled the stale air, ripe with the scent of mold and decay with distaste. He hated that smell. Stepping a short distance into the hall, he ran a fingertip along the wall and it came back damp. "Moisture," he said to no one in particular. "We're either close to the exit, or close to a water source." He started walking again, further into the hallway.

"Here's hoping it's the exit"

======

Action: Enter hallway, walk towards door at the opposite end.

Garthal flinched slightly as an unexpected sound echoed into his ears, but he regained his composure as he looked in the directions of the opening- and closing- doors.

"Cave want go...?" the lizardman tried to wrap his head around how the dungeon could act on such autonomous mechanisms, being unfamiliar any sort of complicated magics. Seeing no other options but to delve into the cavernous hallway, Garthal strode forward after the human...

The lizard showed no bother at the heavy dampness or moldiness of the cave- perhaps it might have even soothed him to a certain degree- but Garthal's expression, as well as the grip on his torch and axe, showed little sign of relaxation. If anything, he seemed to be extremely attentive, doubting that he was torn away from his home for no more than a taste test. He leered at the walls, the other end of the hall, and even the ceiling, keeping a careful eye out for anything dangerous...

-------------------------

Action: Take the empty vial with him, and walk through the hallway cautiously, keeping his torch up.

Another door opened up on the other side, while the door back into the dome shut. No way but forward. Again, the slapdash group has been given no option once again. At the very least, the Lizardman went ahead. It was dim in the tunnel and with him holding a torch, at the very least, they could see ahead of them. Lyrnya wasn't so hot on the idea of the reckless man also taking lead.

OOC: Italics is internal thoughts.

Great. Prepare for the rolling boulders, pit falls and arrow traps.

Displeasure splashed across her face, Lyrnya followed Garthal's lead, stuffing her bottle onto her belt and followed behind him.

Let's get moving i guess. No where to go but into the dark, damp tunnel. Fun.

**********************************************

Action: Lyrnya stuffed her bottle for later and followed behind Garthal.

"Oh, it's not that bad, miss," Sporuus chimed in a lighthearted tone as he resealed the now-empty jar and tucked it away. "Just keep a sharp eye and an open ear. We'll be fine as long as we stay aware."

With nothing else in the room of interest, the mushkin followed after the group. Stepping into the cavern brought along some new sensations. Amidst the mold in the air, he was able to taste the dampness lingering upon the stone he walked on. The mixture of minerals in the water didn't taste at all familiar to him. With a frown, he realized he really was in a foreign place.

"One thing's for certain," he noted quietly as he looked at the walls, "Someone has been in here before. If there is a way in, there's always a way out."

Yet there was that slight feeling of paranoia starting to creep up his back. Sporuus pulled out his slingshot as he looked around for pebbles or some other small hard things to keep for ammunition. Ammunition....

It just occurred to him to check up on his pouch of seeds and make sure he didn't lose any on his way here. He flipped open the flap and took a peek inside.

-=============-

Action(s): Keep empty jar, follow group, search for small stones, inventory check>Seeds.

After inspecting the vial for a while Syrua bags it upon hearing the door open.

Syrua looks to the door opening and turns his head in disgust of the smell; it felt as if his nose consumed just about every fume and for that he thanks his dragon blood for the heightened sense of smell. "Well I guess we have no choice," Syrua said with a slight sigh. He followed toward the doorway trying to eye every aspect of the opening keeping his guard up as always.

Let's get moving i guess. No where to go but into the dark, damp tunnel. Fun.

"Agreed. It seems like our choices are few in number, but there are a lot of us," Syrua said encouraging yet cautiously.

***************************

Action: Bags vial and walks toward the door opening.

As soon as the last member of the group exited into the new hallway the door behind the lot slammed shut and locked itself.
Only light is the torch carried by the lizard-man and an odd glowy rock embedded in the wall here and there alongside the hallway walls, its not really daylight but as soon as ones eyes are used to the darkness its adequate.

The hallway extends down quite a while, very, very low grunts can be heard around the bend at the end of it.

Garthal, warily treading through the cavern hall, stopped as soon as his ears caught wind of some sort of grunting noise.

"Hear thing..." the lizardman muttered quietly, holding his arm out in an attempt to keep the rest of the party from advancing further. He stretched his other, torch-bearing arm forward, attempting to leer into the distant darkness, but he couldn't make out whatever was at the other end of the hall.

"Garthal strong. Garthal go first..." he told his smooth-skinned companions, continuing forward. He held back his instinct to strike immediately- after all, who's to say the voices might not be fellow prisoners- but something gave him a wary disposition nonetheless...

-----------------------

Action: Continue forward, approaching the grunt noises.

Hear thing...

The lizard man suddenly held out his arm in an attempt to stop those behind him. Luckily for herself, Lyrnya was quite short. Otherwise, his arm would have clocked her straight in the nose. It seems something or some noise has spooked Garthal and he had become wary all of a sudden

Garthal strong. Garthal go first...

Since it was such a narrow passage, there was no where to dodge if someone cam bursting down the passage to attack them. It also meant that they could only come one way. That was where her spear comes into play. Lyrnya followed closely behind Garthal, her spear sticking past the lizardman's torso. if they had to charge at their pointman, then they will get a pointy greeting from her spear.

I got your back.

**********************************************

Action: Lyrnya readied up her spear to cover and help Garthal in case of emergency.

Sporuus nearly stopped in his tracks when he heard the lizardman. Something was moving down the hall? The mushkin frowned, knowing full well that he was not one to be found taking up point of any sort of battle. Once more, he glanced around to see if there was anything small enough to launch from his slingshot as a distraction, but still found nothing.

However, his frown soon curled up into a sly grin. From his pouch, he extracted the seed of a fairly common, yet nasty plant. It would serve as the perfect distraction.

With Garthal and the Cheytan already moving up ahead, Sporuus held his seed in the strap of his slingshot and began following after. "Keep your heads low," he advised with a whisper.

-===============-

Action(s): Equip nettle seed with slingshot, follow Garthal and Lyrnya.

Gennaen crouched into a defensive position and crept behind the lizardman, perfectly content to let the fighter take the lead. He slowly made his way further down the hall toward the sounds around the corner, prepared to defend himself against whatever may show itself.

======

Action: Move forward the hallway.

As the party goes further down the hallway the voices stop, only to let out a single word

"Creolnali!"

Shortly thereafter the sound of small bare feet taffed closer and eventually around the corner.
Five small creatures, no taller than a meter or so come into view, their heads are much too large for their bodies but this doesn't seem to affect them.
Without the gold
1336545217323.jpg

One stops before the lizard man, sort of gaping at the tallness of the one before him.
"....turalisj...."

The other group doesn't seem that taken back, but seems to be watering in the mouth as one scream.
"Vaess"
Like a trained command one of the ones in the back, the only one with a small bow and arrow, pours a thick liquid on his arrow and aims for the large lizard, letting it fly!

Even though it has a target five times his own size he manages to miss the one he's aiming for, in the confusion Rhys doesn't see the incoming arrow in the dark which pierces his chest, sending him to the floor almost immediately.

Greeted in an unfamiliar language, Garthal peered down at the tiny creatures before him. At first, the lizardman gave the goblin a curious look, pondering if it was friendly like the others... despite that it spoke in what he perceived as nonsensical garbles. But the forceful cry and the glimpse of an arrow shot past him said otherwise.

"B-Beasts hunt friends!?" he stammered briefly, staring at the archer's weapon. Quickly shaking off his agape expression, Garthal charged forward, ignoring the dwarvish blockade between him and the sniper...

-------------------------------------

ACTION: Throw in some battle music, and run towards and attack G5 (the archer).

Garthal charges the goblin archer through the mini-blocade, manage to keep his balance and avoid getting toppled over and brings down the axe on the poor large-headed creature.

The axe digs deep into it's skull, the sheen from it's eyes as green and gray goo seeps out from the newly ventilated skull.

The arrow sailed wide of both Garthal and Lyrnya and planted itself solidly into Rhys. Goblins were often thought of as being a bit brainless, but shooting at a packed group in narrow confines was tactically brilliant. Of course, they buggered up everything else by missing their main target and picking off someone in the back who was in no position to attack. The physically superior Garthal brute strengthed his way through the poor wall of goblins and cleaved the poor goblin archer's head open. It was an opening. Garthal was in their midst and wrecking havoc. Lyrnya went for a quick follow up on one of the goblins in the front, whilst motioning for the others to press forward with a battle cry (not skill)

Kirayayayaya!

Quickly closing the distance, Lyrnya jumped and launched a deep, leaping thrust with all her weight straight at the center torso of the closest goblin (G3)

**********************************************

Insert battle music as well XD

Action: Lyrnya swiftly followed behind Garthal and stabbed at goblin (G3).
