RP Proposals: List & Feedback

Hey guys, wasn't sure exactly where to post this, so I figured here would be best. I just received a message from Saix/Lurid that said:

Lurid says:
You know how the RP mods are dealing with this tournament, yes?
Lurid says:
Well, I'm a judge in it
~*Sayuri*~ says:
Yeah?
Lurid says:
And I've been left completely out of the loop in terms of how they want to judge battles.
Lurid says:
I was wondering if you could scour for any judge-related information in HQ and provide me with it?

So maybe you guys could let him know what he needs to do? Thanks!

I already TOLD Virgil the guidelines. How he is 'out of the loop' is beyond me, as I told him the guidelines and we discussed the judging stuff.

More Suggestions...for the RP...

Alright, here's what I was thinking. I remember it was brought up by Saix, but I wonder if we actually have a better reason for it now.

A brief history is that we were working on the tournament and Saix suggested that there be a separate section for RP Judges and Moderators. That's very brief, believe me.

Since we don't have many judges, we can't really go through with that. But, what if we did so for Mentors?

Kendra and I have been working on this Mentorship Program in the RP Section since she started here. In essence, we have members who are talented at RPing, usually in specific areas, and they sign up for a test to become a Mentor. When they become a Mentor, they can be given Students based on those who signed up to be students.

We already have a myriad number of mentors, and a couple of them are on staff or were at one time. Therefore, it seems more justified that they are given a specific area in which to discuss ideas and such.

That is my suggestion. Whether it's a new section that only they and the mods/admins can see or a password-protected section made exclusively for them and us (like the one for the GFX Clans), I think it would be a good addition. It would give them a chance to privately discuss ideas and methods, to talk about things they or others can improve on. Yeah, a Chit Chat Thread seems necessary too, but the previous reasons are our focus.

Would this be possible, and could we give them a separate usergroup?

Oh, and suggestion number two. STICKY THE "RP Proposals & Feedback Thread" :mad2:

I like these ideas. I think a Password-Protected section would be ideal. If we have a Sub-Forum just for the Mentors, then they can create whatever threads they feel necessary, like we do in the HQ as staff members.

Since we're just introducing this program, I think communication is key, and since we have 7 Mentors currently, it's going to be difficult to do that, without some sort of designated area for us to do it in.

I don't really know what to think of this as I don't RP at all. From my side of the fence, the GFX Clans are for competition, that's the idea of them being password protected and each having their own leaders. It's just as much of a battle of privacy as it is a battle of GFX skills.

I have to ask, what do the Mentors have/need to do or say that is so important that they should keep it from the rest of the forums?

Essentially, they teach all the people. While it's not so much as a matter of privacy, it's a place exclusively for them to discuss strategies and such. If needs be, they can discuss problem members and how to adapt their strategies to deal with said members, similar to what we do in the Watch List.

The main issue is that they need somewhere where other members can't post and spam up the place, where only they can post. Public isn't desirable, but there really isn't a lot of need for privacy either. That being said, the discussions on problem members SHOULD be private, which is why privacy is preferred.

If you think about it, it's kind of like a mini-HQ, but for different reasons.

Then I can see how a password protected forum would be beneficial. If it becomes an integral part of the forum like the GFX Clans quickly did then I don't see no reason why not. I know the RP sections are prospering due to yours and Contra's great efforts so this will help take it to the next step like the GFX Clans did for Kilika.

I'm not big on the RP section, but sure. I have no problems with this idea. Whatever is going to make things better for you guys and the mentors, that's fine with me.

I also see no reason of why these should not be implemented. If it helps, I would like to give you my support on this matter for two reasons: (1) It will help us the RP Section to evolve even more and (2), it will give mentors some sort of recognition for their work (I know a "thank you" is enough for some, but a little extra thingy wouldn't be bad anyway) :)

Agreed. I support this as well since it does give those members more reason to keep coming back to this place and enjoy it thoroughly. I've only started to be a little active in the RP section and I can definitely see the seriousness and dedication from a lot of the RPers, and I respect that. So organizing the area by implementing this idea would definitely be ideal.

*bump*

I'm ashamed that this thread has died so.

I'm making a list here (and adding it to the first page) of things we still need to get done.

Mentor Duties
Mentor Expectations
Tutoring Strategies
Tutorials
NPC Service
(suggested by Red Fox)
Monster Service
Bio Approvals in "The Barracks"

EDIT

Er, scratch that. I can't actually edit the first post =_=

xD Right threads, wrong title, Mandi xD

Can you re-name it, or re-merge it, or whatever the hell has to be done for it? I has no clue what the processes are :gasp:

Oopsies, double post

Alright Kendra, what about these Mentor Profiles? I have an idea for a template, but you mentioned something about them a month or so ago. I was going to make a thread in The Chalkboard for them to post their profiles in accordance with the template, but I want to know if you were doing anything first.

I'll work on the Mentor profiles tonight. I have the template, so all I have to do is post it up. I work from 12-7 eastern today, so hopefully you'll be online after that time so we can discuss the template.
