[RP]SFR: Empires of the Smoky Skies

Francis Friedrich von Tann
Gossips and Criticisms

Ah. Unteroffizier Franz von Tann. An incredible coincidence to see you here. These gentlemen here had the ga.....

Unteroffizier...that's a name that he hadn't heard in a while. It must've been almost a year since he left the military to take over and transform his father's business. And while it was not a decision he was generally comfortable with, it had to be done to continue his mother's livelihood. As he followed Heidemarie, she saw her bump into what appeared to be a singer by the name of Eile Weiss, from Brittannia. While he has never heard of the first name before, he remembered the last name from reading an archaeological article he read during a recent trip to the dentist. Of course, it so happened that the catgirl's mention of her brother led him to step into action, lest Heidemarie's temper would lead to her..eventually burning the whole place down.

"Brother, huh? You must be Levont Weiss, I presume?" Frederich said calmly moving to extend his hand. "My name is Franz Frederich von Tann, a denizen of Line Ark. It's a pleasure meeting you."

Minister Alfred Hobbs -
- An Old friend -

Alfred smiled underneath the Iron Mask that kept his pale face hidden for years. A tap of the staff was his show of delight. "Many things I am, Madame! But a Gentleman? Now that is something new in itself!" Alfred delighted in her presence.

"Of course, as respectful and dangerous as I am, I am but still flesh sadly," he said. "Flesh, is a flaw and metal is evolution. Your eccentrities and brilliance inspires me to sponsor you as we move toward that goal," he told her. Too long has someone who was out of the limelight and with little to work with had been given their due, from all these amateurs, she showed most potential. Even if she would dislike his idea of converting a part of her (or all), he still has respect for the devices he had seen prior as well as her attitude towards committing to a better job accomplished judging by the creations he saw by her side at the entrance. He still fought the urge to propose a conversion by standing upright and keeping a stiff upper lip attitude he had been displaying since entering here.

"If you do come up on top of this … convention, you may seek me at the Orlinian Embassy," Alfred said as his mask expunged a straw for him to coolly sip the champagne he swiped from the waiter moments earlier. Before Alfred could find a ground or topic to open up with Scarlet, another woman wailed or what appeared to him, be causing a scene of unnecessary repute for such a prestigious occasion.

"Good grief! Just as I was about to mention the good part!" He turned to see another subject he would most love to convert into an Automaton: Heidemarie Heinrike Brodericas von und zu Baden-Wurttemberg. By god, her reflexes and command of her unit was legendary amongst the soldiers he provided artificial appendages for as well as the death row inmates whom he converted often spoke of her among the many officers who commanded respect in the Technocratic world. To have her or someone as competent as her serve as his bodyguard and convert her beautifully honed body into his ideal vision of the Ultimate Soldier was one of his many goals and desires. Even then, what would a soldier be doing here in the midst of inventors?

Amongst them he could spot a cat girl and a boy of crossed irises of outlandish designs, a principal flaw which he saw. They carry the stench of the past that was all against his futuristic vision of metal men and women.

"See those youthful children, my dear? They are what is wrong with this society," he hissed. "As much as joy they bring, they only but halt humanity's advancement towards the Industrial Evolution, a thing I will NOT tolerate! Why are these costumed children within the elite?!" he said as he crushed his glass while glaring uncomfortably at the outlandish people. He took deep breaths to calm himself without causing discomfort to Scarlet or anyone of his associates before a waiter began to rush to his side.

"Minister is everything okay?" a waiter asked. Alfred's eyes brightened as he feigned a faulty arm where he crushed said glass by loosening it up a little bit with a false act of discomfort.

"I only seemed to have suffered a stiff arm! Pardon me. You may bill this wonderfully destroyed shards to the Orlinian Embassy, boy," Alfred said, dismissing his discriminative demeanor for a flawed mechanic within his artificial body. As the waiter cleared his mess, Alfred gazed at the flawed twins and back to his two artful topics: Scarlet and Heidemarie along with the newcomer who stood to attend to the soldier's side. Pieces are placed randomly around him, but if the spy is correct, something big is about to happen sooner or later. To solve this for the good of Orlina, and possibly the Technocratic world, he would have to call upon Heidemarie's tenacity, the twin's strange connection to the past and Scarlet's brilliance to plan a countermeasure without alerting the Line Ark Political Parties.

Pretending to adjust his arm, he turned back to Scarlet, this time back to his formal gentlemanly voice.

"My dear, perhaps we should join the outcasted committee?" he asked her, gazing at Heidmarie with the outlandish duo along with that young mechanic and his aide. Looking back, a soldier and a few inventors may not be much, but a lead towards who would want them all in this Convention as well as the spy's superiors may be a chance for them to crush this conspiracy the spy who told him of such. He set his staff down as he called her out.

"Heidmarie, my dear! How did I not lay eyes on you yet?!" Alfred bellowed in enthusiasm at the group. "Come now! Bring your joyous group along with Ms. Scarlet and I for dinner and drinks! The skies rain with brilliance at the flutter of winds!" He said, if he knew her military terminology correctly and even from reading Orlinian Military Technocratic Relations books, "The skies rain with brilliance at the flutter of winds" is a code sign by Technocratic alliances that danger or something is about to happen and will need immediate attention. He hopes his random choice of words would be clear to her, as she was the only able officer who is not of Line Ark politics or military that can be briefed by what he and the people of Orlina has discovered.

Scarlet's heart sank as she realized he was no Iron Gentleman, but just another eccentric individual. He goes on to whine about being flesh. Scarlet was already beginning to lose interest, even as he brought up a possible sponsorship. As far as money was concerned, Scarlet had already secured an extremely reliable source - one that bypassed the law, and came in such abundance that poverty would never come upon her, if at all. He went on to make another uninteresting offer, then proceeds to expunge a straw from his mask, a move that aroused Scarlet's curiosity so much her eyes widened in evident awe.

She quickly produced her pen and paper which she had managed to keep in a small, relatively obscured pouch on her waist. As she jots down the new idea, she watches as the man continued speaking. His words were bouncing off her though she caught bits of detail... One such detail... The cat girl from earlier... The singer!

Scarlet's eyes widened in surprise as she averted her gaze. Alfred proceeds to express some form of displeasure. Scarlet didn't know what exactly he took issue with, but she nodded vigorously in agreement. She cannot tolerate singers. Their beautiful voice was so captivating it was annoying. Too much of a good thing makes it a bad thing, Scarlet knew. As she re-focused her attention on Alfred, she saw the man break a glass with his hand. Another inspiration hits her as she begins to jot down several more possibilities for the Iron Gentleman. She regretted not bringing it along with her.

The Guild had rushed her so much that all she could bring was her pen, paper and some spare clothes. If she had brought any of her inventions along, she would have gotten the opportunity to at least get something done. Still, that was no significant loss. A waiter hurriedly approached Alfred, quickly proceeding clear the mess. All around, the guests were staring at the two in a mix of awe and curiosity. Who is that red-haired lady with the Minister; it was a question so oft-repeated it seemed to be all anyone is saying.

Scarlet smirks at the recognition, jotting down a detail that she wanted the Iron Gentleman to possess. Alfred interrupts her chain of thought yet again just as she was about to jump on to the more technical details. Without processing his words, she agreed, and followed after him as he began to move... Towards the singer and several uninteresting people. Scarlet quickly shuffles behind Alfred, placing him between herself and the cat girl, looking away, unintentionally seeming dignified for once.

Eile and Levont Weiss

"Brother, huh? You must be Levont Weiss, I presume? My name is Franz Frederich von Tann, a denizen of Line Ark. It's a pleasure meeting you."

Levont looked from Heidmarie to Franz as he extended his hand.

"I didn't think anyone would know me. Eile, yes if they followed the music world. But I'm just a humble archeologist as well as political official of Brittnnia." Levont answered shaking the man's hand. He likes this one already.

"So Franz, are you selling machines here or did you already sell your machines?" Eile asked as she looked at the engineer.

Levont nodded as he looked around before spotting Hobbs with the red haired lady behind him. Mentally, he groaned as he pulled Eile to the side opposite of Hobbs as the cyborg started to speak in the politician fake happiness.

"Heidmarie, my dear! How did I not lay eyes on you yet?! Come now! Bring your joyous group along with Ms. Scarlet and I for dinner and drinks! The skies rain with brilliance at the flutter of winds!"

Eile saw Hobbs then saw the red haired women behind him. Curiosity got the better of her as she just wanted to know her name. If anything else, Eile could at least put her at ease.

"Hello there. What's your name miss?" Eile asked looking at the redhead with all the curiosity of a six year old.

OOC: @Baseret Just remember, Heidemarie is being all chummy chummy and close. But is neutral, but stern and serious.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heidemarie Heinrike Brodericas von und zu Baden-Wurttemberg
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

New and familiar faces, part 2...

"I'm Eile Weiss. I'm a musical idol from Brittina."

Heidemarie nodded in approval. She was a patron of the arts and music. Heidemarie can't say she has heard of her, but then again, she was the more classical type of person and she hasn't exactly kept up with Brittanian media. If she was an idol of sort, then perhaps the evening wouldn't be so drab after all?

"Ohh. Liking the ears? Or maybe it's my tail that you fancy." Eile stated.

Do not be preposterous. They seem to be quite a hindrance in the confines of a armoured vehicle. I cannot seem to see a purpose for such appendages.

One can lose their arm in an instant if it got caught in the recoil of any gun, much less a 15cm cannon on the E-100. A tail like that would be at risk of getting caught in any number of moving parts or even depress something by accident. As for the ears, if they were like that of any other animals, it would provide advanced hearing, which could be beneficial for a radio operator, but the loud boom of the cannon again may make that a disadvantage as well. No, Heidemarie cannot say she "fancy" the ears or the tail. All that was in a military setting. In the world of media and glamour, there were many that are endeared with such characteristics.

However, in your industry, i cannot deny the possibility of the advantages they may bring. Unteroffizier Franz von Tann. You are a bit more knowledgeable about the world outside of the military. Do you fancy such things?

Before her companion could answer, another voice called out in their direction. Diverting her gaze, Heidemarie spotted what she guessed to be Ms Weiss' twin, given his identical appearance.

"There you are Eile."

"Sorry about that. Kinda got lost in the crowd."

"Honestly, it'll be harder once the convention really starts filling up. Heidemarie Baden-Wurttemberg. I'd say it's a pleasure to meet you here but we both know that I would be lying."

Heidemarie's brow frowned ever so slightly, tilting her head in confusion. She was somewhat irked that someone she did not know deemed it necessary to be rude, but was more affected by the fact that he knows of her name, yet cannot even greet her properly. The eyes were slightly familiar, but she couldn't recall any memories of it. Regardless, Heidemarie pointed her crop at him and proceeded to addressed this mistake.

I do not know whether we have met in person before and putting aside the last part of your greeting, but since you know of my name, i must insist you use it correctly. It is Heidemarie Heinricke Brodericas von und zu Baden-Wurttemberg. Do remember it.

Satisfied that she has coveyed her message, Heidemarie returned her crop under her arm.

"Brother, huh? You must be Levont Weiss, I presume? My name is Franz Frederich von Tann, a denizen of Line Ark. It's a pleasure meeting you."

Ah. An acquaintence of yours, Unteroffizier?

"Be nice brother." Eile admonish looking at Levont.

"At the very least, I'd take her presence over Hobbs. He's getting all lovely dovey over that red head chick."

Heidemarie turned towards the direction where Levont was looking at only to come into eye contact with the person they were talking about. The worst thing that could ever happen occured and as rude as this gentleman was, Heidemarie agreed 100% with him in regards to Hobbs.

Heidmarie, my dear! How did I not lay eyes on you yet?! Come now! Bring your joyous group along with Ms. Scarlet and I for dinner and drinks!

Verflucht (Curses)! I have been seen! The last person i want for company... can't refuse it either... maybe i can...

The skies rain with brilliance at the flutter of winds!

That last line stopped Heidemarie mid sentence. She knew Hobbs was quite gaudy and eccentric, but that line was too metaphoric, even for him. In addition to that, it was too close of a coincidence for him to be a minister and use Technocratic alliance code words for no reason at all. If he had invoked such a call, it might be to her best interest to respond, even if just to find out what he wanted. In Alemmanian, Heidemarie whispered to Friedrich.

Unteroffizier, i know you are not of the military anymore, nor aligned with the Technocratic empires anymore, but i do believe it might be in your best interest to accompany me for a short while to meet Minister Hobbs. If you do accompany me and he questions your position, just say you are my non commisioned assistant. Take up your old military identity.

Out loud, she greeted the minister.

Evening Minister Hobbs. Indeed. The convention has indeed painted the sky with brilliance with all the technology and advancement that has gathered here. I do hope public security and order remains intact with so many people congregating in one area.

"Hello there. What's your name miss?"

Ah, my apology for my rudeness. I am Heidemarie Brodericas von und zu Baden-Wurttemberg. May i ask for your personage?

If Hobbs was as brilliant as she and others think he was, it would be impossible for him to miss her hint that she acknowledges the "danger" and that whether it can be contained.

Minister Alfred Hobbs -
- Debriefing -

"But of course! But for now, Let us dine! I will be host to this wonderous evening so please," he stared at the two youths near Heidmarie now making small talk with Ms. Scarlet. "…Do go all out. As The Orlinian Empire sponsors you all tonight," he said with a flat voice. Voices of approval and interest piqued the ballroom as they did not know Orlina can be as hospitable than what impressions of the country give off. Alfred's fellow Ministers and business men all complimented him, but his interest only lay with Scarlet, Heidmarie, the two youthful twins and the Mechanic who answered the officer prior.

Alfred nodded in approval as he snapped his fingers. Behind the doors of the prestigious convention, his Automaton bodyguard pairs opened the doors as they marched into the scene, all carried intimidating airs around them as they went on to greet The Minister and his guests. The other attendants moved aside lest they want to be pushed away with hard steel. Alfred placed his shoulders upon the gorgeous Scarlet as he indicated the oncoming Automatons to her.

"You wish to see Iron Gentlemen, Ms. Scarlet? I may not be one, but they certainly match your standards," Alfred nodded as he pointed his staff towards the arriving Automaton guards. The Pair stood firm and saluted the traditional Orlinian Empire's gesture to greet the Minister and the recognized guests.

"Hail Orlina," The pair said in unison. If one of great brilliance can observe, each Automaton has a differently paired voice. During his starting days, he would effortlessly convert male or female to these older models. Now a days, the future he envisioned needed a more equalized stability of male and female. If he can only crack the secret of reproduction through steel, then his ideal future is flawless. Looking at them, they eerily reminded him of his naivety and his disdain for lack of creativity.

"Hail Orlina," Alfred said with mild annoyance as his verification protocol. The Automatons stood guard as they pointed the direction towards the VIP restaurant. Alfred joined Heidmarie and saluted the Orlinian way as well to greet her own associates, two of which brought displeasure to Alfred. He patted the catgirl's head "Nice kitty, I shall treat you tonight on behalf of the Empire. I understand you desire seafoods," he said with a polite tone of a kind uncle, yet masked his disdain for the perversion of flaws she contained that did not match his idealized 'catgirl'. It was Milena who taught him self control and to be at his utter most civil voice. He then beckoned to her brother, " As well as you, Boy. I insist you join me as well, it will be a banquet to behold," Alfred said. The fact that these two appear to be deceiving is good enough for him to invite as well, for time runs short. He then turned to the most recent arrivals of Heidmarie's guests, one that looked like a mild mannered man who answered Heidmarie's call. He looked interesting to invite to his private dinner as well, but at this point only he can trust Heidmarie and Milena within the country. Alfred then realizes maybe he also might prove useful along with the twins. "Young man, you are bold and brave to answer someone of Heidmarie's status without her risking it tarnished in this circus of clowns and monkeys. Though I cannot say the same to your friend behind you, for just looking at his eyes, I can see fear everytime he lays eyes on me. I can assure you I mean no harm... not to allies of Orlina. Please, join me and the Madame, I hear this Inn serves the best meals in the city," Alfred insisted with beckoning grace and welcoming auras that would instill safety to anyone who would accept it.

Alfred then spun around as even more Ministers and Business folk are preparing to confront or ask his favour in gaining access to Orlina's graces but he raised a simple hand and announced his intent to leave with his guests. The Automatons flanked him to prevent more undesirables from intervening.

"It has been a pleasure, my fellow brilliant minds. But I believe I have my guests to take with me. Ms. Scarlet, Heidmarie…Children and Mr. Mechanic, do follow my men to the private lounges of this Inn please. My aide Milena will attend to your needs. I have urgent business to discuss with my guests," Alfred said dismissively towards the others he deemed uninteresting other than his selected guests. The Automatons directed the wonderful Ms. Scarlet, stern Heidmarie, irresponsible Children and the Mechanic to the respective private area. The faster they leave the eyes of these fools, the better. He had exposed himself along with the desired party long enough.

Taking two glasses from a passing waiter yet again, he passed one over to Heidmarie and held one amidst his arm. Once their guests are our of earshot and blocked by the Automatons, he then lowered his theatrical voice to that of a more lower and serious tone to speak with the Captain.

"I thank you for acknowledging the code, Madam," Alfred said in a low buzzing tone as they moved quietly while beckoning their guests to follow the Automatons. His postures gave her the vibe that they must be discreet as they make their way to his private VIP lounge reserved at the restaurant. "It is too urgent now to be of secret but you shall be debriefed urgently. Approximately 3 hours ago, one of my … newly converted models whose profession was once that of a spy within this deceptive place spoke of a conspiracy plotted by the hierarchal structure of this country involving the end of all Empires as well as utter control of the free world," Alfred said as he quietly drew an automated straw from his mask to sip through the champagne.

"According to her, the Chancellor of this nation is gathering brilliant minds of various companies as well as Government scientists such as myself, or if not, stealing their valuable works due to some recent discovery of reverse engineering Magicite as well as ancient Magitek based on blueprints of a superweapon called Ceres…They are performing a series of tests to replicate its effects with intent to unleash it upon The Technocratic Empires for supremacy," Alfred said in a low buzzed tone that is akin to a whisper for Heidmarie to get every piece of word.

"As you know, Ceres within history and legend dictated to us that it was meant to put an end to all wars due to its status as the mother of all weaponry. Yet it bothers me to think Line Ark would use my Automaton blueprints to coincide with this monstrosity's creation," he said tersely while drinking champagne.

"It appears she needed data on my Automaton program to create an unstoppable army to aide in Ceres' resurrection… Hence, she was dealt with as consequence of treason in Orlina. I am putting myself at risk here for the good of Orlina and possibly for the other Empires as well, I must put a stop to this madness. However, I am no soldier and time is against us. For The spy warned me that if she is not reported by midnight, Orlina and other Embassies of Empires may fall upon certain 'incidents'," Alfred said coolly as he sipped his champagne. It was hard to imagine the stress of the situation, but a Minister of great renown must not quiver in the face of the shadows of danger.

"Madame, these people are a rather interesting lot. From what I can see of the youth you picked as well as Ms. Scarlet, they pose a sufficient threat to the plan before it bears enough fruit. Although I cannot say the same for that Mechanic of yours, he may pose a threat as he resides within the country," he continued on as he casually sucked the champagne from his makeshift straw as the Automatons blocked their guests from intervening between the soldier and The Minister.

"Suppose Ceres is to be unleashed, it would put our countries to shame and we will be forced to bow to their bidding. That I cannot allow, for it puts my vision of an Industrial Evolution at risk," Alfred quietly said in a sharp tone. A threat to his ambition is most certainly worthy of his attention.

Eile and Levont Weiss

"But of course! But for now, Let us dine! I will be host to this wonderous evening so please …Do go all out. As The Orlinian Empire sponsors you all tonight."

There was nothing Levont could have done to avoid having to dine with the man inventor. Something that did not go unnoticed to Eile as she noticed how his hand started flexing. Eile smiled as she placed her hand in Levont's.

"I'm sure nothing bad will happen to us while Mr. Hobbs is with us." Eile stated looking at Levont with a smile.

Levont only nodded as he was pulled by Eile to follow Hobbs and the red head who's last name was just revealed.

"One can only hope." Levont muttered as he followed her.

Soon enough they saw more cyborgs saluting Hobbs and he turned to pet Eile on the head.

"Nice kitty, I shall treat you tonight on behalf of the Empire. I understand you desire seafoods,"

"I like seafood. I also prefer a salad as well. I'm Eile Weiss. Nice to meet you Mr. Hobbs." Eile answered as she looked over to Levont.

If Levont was mad in the middle of the convention center, his current look was downright murderous though he kept it hidden behind the mask of neutrality.

" As well as you, Boy. I insist you join me as well, it will be a banquet to behold."

"I will. My name is Levont Weiss. Not 'Boy'." Levont said tensely. He would not let his guard down until he and Eile was at least 3 blocks away from this man as well as making a mental note to apologize to Heidmarie after being subjected to his own rudeness in the form of Hobbs.

With that, the twins followed Hobbs out of the convention area. Eile's cat ears started twitching as she heard whispers ahead of her. She didn't catch all of the conversation, but she caught a few choice words.

"... Chancellor of this nation is gathering brilliant minds... stealing their valuable works... recent discovery of reverse engineering Magicite... based on blueprints of a superweapon called Ceres... tests to replicate its effects with intent to unleash."

Eile's eyes widen a bit at what she was hearing before looking at Levont. She brushed her tail against his leg and got an acknowledging nod before she started to write the words on his leg with her tail. It was a very neat trick that she picked up whenever both of them were in trouble. She would 'write' out what she want to say on any skin portion of Levont and by concentrating, Levont was able to decipher her tail movement. It took quite a number of tries before the pair had it mastered as Levont started to focus. Soon enough, Eile's letters was forming in his mind and once the full message came in, he mentally groaned again before coughing. It was to signal Eile he got the message and by off chance, clear his throat.

He knew bits and pieces about Ceres. After all, he was an archeologist for the Brittinna government. Digging through the past was his primary (and Levont wished it was his only) job . But all he knew about the weapon was what is known in legends and myths. But myths and legends had their roots in fact and Ceres was not fictional. It was a weapon to end all wars. That much Eile and Levont knew and until more information came up, he would keep his personal knowledge on it quiet. After all, it was Magitek and the only people who knew about Magitek were the Luddites, anyone who had knowledge about magic, and those under the employment of any government as an archelogist. Eile and himself knew how to operate Magitek since the name iteself is a giveaway. Anyone who had knowledge and ability to use magic can use Magitek and unless circumstances changes, they would not release that information.

"Please don't talk to me, please don't talk to me, please don't--"

But of course, what can go wrong will go wrong. Scarlet was again reminded of that law as cat girl spoke, and to her, as it seemed. Scarlet couldn't say for sure, since she wasn't looking at the girl. Her gaze was directed opposite away purposefully so as to avoid eye contact. She hurriedly took out her Pen and Paper, pretending to jot down notes. It felt like ages that she had to pretend when suddenly, one of the uninteresting people spoke. Was the question directed towards her? Scarlet's brow raised in curiosity as she listened in for the name... And her jaw dropped.

She hurriedly began scribbling with a renewed sense of purpose. "Hey-the-Marie von... Und... Zu... Bad-durn Wur-tam-berg?" Scarlet glanced down at her writing, looking at the spelling of the name. Then she laughed as if she had seen the funniest thing in the world. Several curious stares were invited in her direction, but she looked at Heidemarie with new-found interest. A military woman, it would seem. Though Scarlet had no distinct knowledge or even inkling about the family name, she had enough sense to understand it probably relates to an illustrious background. Of that, she was certain.

If not, it would be hilarious! Scarlet couldn't resist giggling. She does eventually reign in her emotions as she regained her composure. Looking at the other uninteresting people, she skips over the cat girl to the boy beside her. Then back to Heidemarie, and the young man. There, she ogled for a moment. He was handsome... A generic handsome man, she decided instantly after ogling for about half a minute. Alfred had been talking this whole time, and just as she was done ogling, he began to direct the small group into a private VIP lounge.

Although confused, she was happy to be away from the crowd. Being in an emptier space with the singer made her uneasy but at least she won't have any difficult escaping this time. As soon as they entered the private area, Alfred began to converse with Heidemarie about some unnecessarily... Wait. Scarlet's eyes lit up at a particular word she unintentionally overheard. 'Superweapon'. She began to jot down more notes as her mind went into overdrive, half-eavesdropping and half-thinking what can be done on her end.

'Ceres' was a mildly familiar name, one that she appeared to have encountered in her textbooks, but never quite followed up on. She wondered if she should regret that but quickly tosses that notion out of the window. Her jotting became more furious as Alfred stopped with the details, allowing her to focus wholly on the things that she could do. First, to find out what Ceres is like, how it works, what it takes to work, what it takes to make... Her work was cut out for her. For the first time since she came here, she felt like the Inventor's Guild had not sent her on a wasted trip.

Yin walked into his cafe. Duchess was having a busy night and was starting to become a popular place in Dalmacea. Belle Madalene de Souse greeted Yin as she always did. She was always happy to see the owner regardless of his dirty appearance. Belle said, "Hi Yin. We got ourselves a busy night. All of our dancers are getting drinks from the costumers. The costumers love our show." Several dancers saw Yin standing near Belle. Each of them walked past and smiled. They greeted him by saying, "Hi owner."

Duchess had a stage surrounded by tables. A stairway went to the second floor in the back of the stage. The bar was near the entrance. The second floor had rooms for the women. It wasn't a place where women strip, but the customers pay a lot of money for the company. Some come to drink with one of the dancers. Some come to watch the show. Some also get to dance with one of the dancers if he spends enough money on her.

The show for tonight had three performances. The first performance had most of the dancers on stage in frilly dresses and stockings. The second performance was from seven dancers and a band. The main dancer wore an outfit that made her look like a doll. She had curly black hair and a top hat. The band played soft music with a singer while the dancer moved around like a doll. Six dancers had costumes and sat at the edge of the stage after dancing in the beginning. The third performance was going to start in a few minutes. It was Belle's turn. She was an actress, dancer, and singer. She usually kept the main part of the show for herself since she was the manager of Duchess.

Yin stood staring at the stage. He looked like he walked out of a horror film. Some of the customers looked at him with looks of shock on their faces, yet they didn't say anything rude since several dancers addressed him as the owner of Duchess. Belle asked, "Is there anything wrong, Yin?" Yin replied, "No. I was thinking about an idea for a new show. We should get costumes of creatures and dance around like puppets." Belle said, "Oh. That would be a good idea ... We need to go to Line Ark if we're going to get proper materials." Yin said, "We can take a ship."

Friedrich Francis von Tann
Plots

"I didn't think anyone would know me. Eile, yes if they followed the music world. But I'm just a humble archeologist as well as political official of Brittnnia."

Friedrich smiled, understanding what Levont meant when he said this. "I do a lot of reading when I have spare time, and I read a couple of publications you have made on behalf of the Britannian government."

Of course alternating to the second conversation with Heidemarie and Levont's sister Eile, he heard Heidemarie ask, "However, in your industry, i cannot deny the possibility of the advantages they may bring. Unteroffizier Franz von Tann. You are a bit more knowledgeable about the world outside of the military. Do you fancy such things?"

"I can't say I'm know alot about music. However, from what I do know, I can tell that you do have what it takes to go international if you so wish. Just be careful with what the producer's tell you, they may want you to do something you would not like."

"So Franz, are you selling machines here or did you already sell your machines?"

"No, I'm a mechanic, not an inventor. Though I would like to try and invent som-" Friedrich stopped when he saw the figure of Minister Alfred Hobbs walking by them. His heart sank, due to the man's appearance, and not even Heidemarie's insistence of being treated as her aide helped him much, though he did not show his worry around the man.

Please, join me and the Madame, I hear this Inn serves the best meals in the city,"

"Thank you Herr Minister (Lord Minister), I will take you up on your offer."
Fredrich said, not wanting to disappoint the man. Though he seemed amicable, he did not trust him too much.

As they dined, he watched as Hobbs and Heidemarie talked in private. He respectfully left the business be, as if Heidemarie was to share, she would say as such. It was as he watched Levont with shock that he actually wondered exactly what was going on. He didn't say anything though, knowing that somehow he'll be dragged into the loop soon enough. Though the sound of Levont coughing made him wonder, "Something wrong, Levont?"

Levont and Eile Weiss

"Something wrong, Levont?"

Levont shook his head as he looked to see Fredrich looking at him.

"It's nothing major. Just clearing my throat." Levont said as he grabbed a cup of water and drank it down.

Eile looked at Levont then to Fredrich before grabbing Fredrich's hand.

"Brother. Do you mind if I show Fredrich some of your notes and artifacts?" Eile asked looking at her plus pupil eyed twin.

"Go ahead. Some of the stuff has yet to be written down though." Levont muttered as he put his glass of water down.

With that, Eile started to pull Fredrich toward the closest door.

"Just wait til you see what he found at his dig site." Eile said with a sincere smile.

"Don't break anything. Some of the stuff is priceless and that kind of knowledge could benefit everyone." Levont called out as Eile's tail swung left and right catching his hidden meaning.

He then turned his attention to Scarlet who happened to be writing stuff down.

"What are you writing? A new invention?" Levont asked looking at the red haired lady.

"A radiator here... The engines...? Wait, what? Engines?"

Scarlet was still in the process of scribbling down her notes. The writings were getting messier and messier, to the point it no longer seemed legible to the ordinary person. Fortunately, Scarlet was not 'ordinary'. The ideas were forming in her head, and she had a rough idea about how it could look, but still, that implied a possibility. As far as possibilities were concerned, Scarlet enjoyed having them around for short moments. Tarry too long it becomes annoying. She had to find a way to make this possibility reality.

But how? For the moment, it seemed she had encountered a road block.

"What are you writing? A new invention?"

The voice startled her to the point she gripped her Pen too tightly. Activating the trigger mechanism, the Pen launched the Aetherium shrapnels with a loud blast. Fortunately, no one was in the line of fire. The shrapnels slammed high up into the wall opposite from Scarlet. Startled once already by the sudden voice, and now by this accident, Scarlet burst into laughter. "Oh jolly golly~ You scared me," said Scarlet, cheerfully closing the now-empty compartment in her Pen. She glanced at him, remembering that he asked a question.

"And yes! A new idea! No ideas, no inventions! Now I have an idea, I shall have an invention soon? That making sense to you?"

She entirely ignores the commotion she had just caused, even as waiters began scampering in to assess the damage. Still, being a VIP lounge, they expressed more concern for the parties within. That was funny to Scarlet, once again, especially when she can plainly see how they constantly tried to assess the damage without looking too unhappy about it. A curious glance went to Alfred; how amusing it must be at times to see them like this! Nevertheless, she returned her gaze to Levont.

And then, she noticed for the first time the cross in his pupils. She was fascinated for a moment, but was quickly struck with another inspiration. She hurriedly began scribbling in her Paper.

Heidemarie Heinrike Brodericas von und zu Baden-Wurttemberg

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The plot thickens...
Rather than take the offered hand, the scarlet lady instead proceeded to jot furiously on the pad that she was holding before bursting into an uncontrollable fit of laughter. Heidemarie couldn't help feel a bit taken aback and after lingering for a second or two, she withdrew her hand awkwardly. It was obvious this lady had an... eccentric sense of manners and it was unlikely that her hand would be shook. Whatever the case, it was insignificant in the face of what Minister Hobbs had to say and followed his cue into another area. After all, the function room floor was hardly the place to discuss country shattering secrets in.
"But of course! But for now, Let us dine! I will be host to this wonderous evening so please, do go all out. As The Orlinian Empire sponsors you all tonight,
Heidemarie rolled her eyes internally at the over the top accommodating act that Hobbs was putting on. She knew how he really was and even if his true personality was still blurry, she knew well what he was capable of. If it was up to her, she would have saved the effort and just walked out of the hall without all the cafuffle. His theatrics was drawing the attention of everyone onto the group and one composed of highly irregular people. A Orlinian minister, a Alemmanian officer, two youths, an eccentric inventor and a local resident. It would be a stretch to call them compatible companions of the same circle. The group continued further towards the VIP area towards the two automatons that were obviously Hobb's creation. Heidemarie took exceptional effort to scan them subtlely and gather any information off them in case she needed to fight past them. It was only when Hobbs directed a question at Franz that Heidemarie quickly stepped in.
Young man, you are bold and brave to answer someone of Heidmarie's status without her risking it tarnished in this circus of clowns and monkeys. Though I cannot say the same to your friend behind you, for just looking at his eyes, I can see fear everytime he lays eyes on me. I can assure you I mean no harm... not to allies of Orlina. Please, join me and the Madame, I hear this Inn serves the best meals in the city,
Unteroffizier Franz von Tann is my assistant. He has extensive local knowledge of Line Ark and I have requested him to accompanying me.
"It has been a pleasure, my fellow brilliant minds. But I believe I have my guests to take with me. Ms. Scarlet, Heidmarie…Children and Mr. Mechanic, do follow my men to the private lounges of this Inn please. My aide Milena will attend to your needs. I have urgent business to discuss with my guests,
Now further away from the hubbub, Hobbs snagged two glasses and handed one to Heidemarie. The captain gave it a queried look, taking it hesitantly in her hand. She was not one to drink much, especially in the presence of someone with such a dubious reputation, but fortunately for her, the glass was nothing more than an excuse for him to get close and talk.
"I thank you for acknowledging the code, Madam, It is too urgent now to be of secret but you shall be debriefed urgently. Approximately 3 hours ago, one of my … newly converted models whose profession was once that of a spy within this deceptive place spoke of a conspiracy plotted by the hierarchal structure of this country involving the end of all Empires as well as utter control of the free world,
Whilst Hobbs began drinking his champagne, Heidemarie looked forward naturally, took the smallest of sips and continued to act in her usual dignified way in order to keep up the secrecy.
According to her, the Chancellor of this nation is gathering brilliant minds of various companies as well as Government scientists such as myself, or if not, stealing their valuable works due to some recent discovery of reverse engineering Magicite as well as ancient Magitek based on blueprints of a superweapon called Ceres…They are performing a series of tests to replicate its effects with intent to unleash it upon The Technocratic Empires for supremacy,
Ceres was not something Heidemarie could confidently say she had extensive knowledge of it. After all, she was but a captain and superweapons were somewhat out of her clearance level. Her mother, Helmina, the current Matriarch of the Brodericas von und zu Baden-Wurttemberg, should know of something. Next time she was free, it was probably best to send a coded message to her for information.
"As you know, Ceres within history and legend dictated to us that it was meant to put an end to all wars due to its status as the mother of all weaponry. Yet it bothers me to think Line Ark would use my Automaton blueprints to coincide with this monstrosity's creation. It appears she needed data on my Automaton program to create an unstoppable army to aide in Ceres' resurrection… Hence, she was dealt with as consequence of treason in Orlina. I am putting myself at risk here for the good of Orlina and possibly for the other Empires as well, I must put a stop to this madness. However, I am no soldier and time is against us. For The spy warned me that if she is not reported by midnight, Orlina and other Embassies of Empires may fall upon certain 'incidents',
That would explain why you would seek an Alemmanian soldier for assistance then. I assume you are clutching at straws and i am one of the straw that you are clutching at then? Still, if they are threatening all the technocratic empires, then this could very well be related to remnant luddites...
"Madame, these people are a rather interesting lot. From what I can see of the youth you picked as well as Ms. Scarlet, they pose a sufficient threat to the plan before it bears enough fruit. Although I cannot say the same for that Mechanic of yours, he may pose a threat as he resides within the country. Suppose Ceres is to be unleashed, it would put our countries to shame and we will be forced to bow to their bidding. That I cannot allow, for it puts my vision of an Industrial Evolution at risk,
Unfortunately i cannot say that i can see the threat from the two youths. In any case, should the threat prove to be substantiated, I am willing to assist. However, I am an officer and only at a tactical level at that. I am unsure as to how much assistance i can provide.
Behind them, there was a loud bang, which distracted Heidemarie. The loud noise triggered Heidemarie's battle instincts and her hand flew straight into her greatcoat and straight towards the grip of her pistol. As she turned around, she saw that Levont and Ms Scarlet was conversing and that the lady's pen had suddenly launched several shrapnels from one end. Seeing that it was nothing major, Heidemarie stopped her draw halfway and slipped her Luger back into her holster. On hind sight, the force of it actually appeared quite deadly and might actually prove to be quite a ahdny last ditch weapon. Very concealable as well. With that in mind, she made a mental note to ask Ms Scarlet about it later.
Minister Alfred Hobbs -
- Unlikely Adoration -
Alfred sent a very haughty laugh at the commotion going on at the VIP lounge between them while eyeing the Automatons securing the group within. After Heidmarie had advised that her help may be as limited due to her clearance levels, Alfred was willing to let it slide.
"For now, Madame, I do not mind if you stand as my guard and fellow ally in this confusing time. Spies and defusing conspiracies of the highest treason is not my cup of tea and I seek someone with experience, one that I see with you. I am but a humble judge, jury and condemner… I'm sure by now you know what those fine creations of mine are made of…" his jolly voice switched to that of a serious tone for Heidmarie drowned under the cluster of disarray set off by Scarlet. Every hierarchal structure in every Empire knew of Alfred's controversial army of metal automatons and how he would not hesitate to even convert a corrupted official of his country or another if it meant compromising his promised future of perfection. "Officially, I'm here to unveil my newest work to Line Ark. Unofficially, I am collecting all third party assistance to stop this Conspiracy --- and capture a Luddite, if such past flaw existed," his voice danced between serious and jovial.
"But please, Madame, do not let my disposition intimidate you. If I wanted my guests 'punished', I would have done it in the ballroom. But I have standards and conditions to be met before such actions are taken. For now, rest assured, despite my intimidating background, I mean no harm…Just a humble minister requesting aid in stopping this madness the spy spoke of," he concluded before sipping. The path before them all was uncertain, but he was willing to drag all of them all with him in this journey to bring an end to a political turnover that is volumes larger than they are. He will not let her, or these children or Ms. Scarlet, leave until they agree to terms. A group of Automatons can only take him so far, he needed the so called imperfections standing before him to face an enemy never known to him.
"I expect a very earnest answer before we leave those doors, Madame. For now, let us attend our guests," Alfred concluded his business with her to rejoin the group, focusing his attention on Scarlet and Eile.
"Ms. Scarlet, Ms. Weiss! I say you must be all enjoying the evening show! Let's all dine now shall we? Boys! Boy Wonder! Do join us please! This room is far from dangerous!" he greeted them with gusto as well as beckoning Levont and Fredrich to join them. A nod on the door signaled the Automatons to allow the waiters in bringing the most exquisite meals to within the VIP lounge reserved by Alfred.
Various wondrous dishes of great expense lined up the tables as Alfred positioned himself there and allowed his guests to dine of their choosing. Naturally, he beckoned Heidmarie, to sit next to him while asking Scarlet to position herself next to him as well. A single clap of his metallic hands called forth Milena, his miniaturized apprentice to come forward from the doors as his Automatons opened it for her.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is my aide, Milena. She is no mere Automaton, but a pupil of mine. Do treat her as one of your own," He said as he showed off the floating miniaturized Automaton around them.
"Good evening, guests of Minister Hobbs. I am his assistant and protégé, Milena. If you need anything from the outside, please advise me. Until then, do make yourselves at home. Minister Hobbs is welcoming to his guests," she made an announcement. Alfred happily sat down as Milena floated near Hiedmarie and between him.
"Now, Madame. How goes the political climate over at your country? How is family?" Alfred asked, appearing sociable. He will break the news to the others in time, he just needed to manipulate them further until they string along his plans to stop the conspiracy.
Outside, the Automatons were standing guard like Sentinels eyeing any dangerous individuals who might pose a threat to the plan. Often times, one of them would relieve itself of duty while it made its way to Alfred's room, where the converted spy was no doubt despairing in her predicament. It stood guard there, and began scanning the place with its hollow eyes. Once it knew it was safe, it left to rejoin its other partner to where Minister Hobbs and the guests were. Alfred on the other hand, was counting down the hours. There was but 6 hours left before the spy was to report back to her superiors, and he somehow had to convince Heidmarie and the others to see the spy. Only she would be the first clue if he could pry out more from her metallic mouth, and was hoping some of them might be able to appeal to her. This was but a first step, before he would strike back at the hidden enemies of this corrupt country.
Levont and Eile Weiss
The pen in Scarlet's hand exploded as Levont shot back from the exploding end as shrapnel embedded itself into the wall. Levont looked at the wall then back to Scarlet. Eile heard the explosion as well and saw the shrapnel in the wall before shrugging.
"And yes! A new idea! No ideas, no inventions! Now I have an idea, I shall have an invention soon? That making sense to you?"
"It does. If your pen is anything to say on that." Levont muttered sarcastically.
"Ms. Scarlet, Ms. Weiss! I say you must be all enjoying the evening show! Let's all dine now shall we? Boys! Boy Wonder! Do join us please! This room is far from dangerous!"
The Catgirl sighed as Hobbs called her out. She really wanted to talk to Fred about what she and Levont heard. But that was sent out the window.
Levont just let out an irritated sigh.
Looking over to Fred, she smiled.
"Let's not wait here. There's free food." Eile stated.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is my aide, Milena. She is no mere Automaton, but a pupil of mine. Do treat her as one of your own,"
A small mini machina floated into the room as it caught the attention of Eile and Levont. Eile's eyes widen slightly as Levont's cross pupil eyes narrowed.
"Good evening, guests of Minister Hobbs. I am his assistant and protégé, Milena. If you need anything from the outside, please advise me. Until then, do make yourselves at home. Minister Hobbs is welcoming to his guests,"
Eile watched the machine float up to Hobbs as she waited til Scarlet sat at her spot. Eile wanted to talk to Scarlet. Her pen was interesting if anything else and she wanted to know how Scarlet managed to turn her pen into a weapon.
Levont's mind was more on what the Machina Milena said.
'If you need anything from the outside. It seems like Hobbs has no intention for us to leave this room unless we agree to whatever he wants. Considering the facts with the chancellor of Line Ark and Ceres, I can guess what that mad inventor wants. Help him with his problem. Looks like I might need to make a call to Brittina and fill them in.' Levont thought as he looked at Milena.
"Milena, you don't mind if I take a step outside? I need to mail in an archeological report on my findings in the Saadia digsite." Levont muttered looking at the machine.
OOC: Admittedly, the original post and the first rewrite was much longer than this...but the recent additions meant I have to change under pressure...
Friedrich Franz von Tann
"Good evening, guests of Minister Hobbs. I am his assistant and protégé, Milena. If you need anything from the outside, please advise me. Until then, do make yourselves at home. Minister Hobbs is welcoming to his guests,"
As Friedrich was dragged watched and learned more of Minister Hobb’s creations, he heard a series of loud screams. Friedrich turned around as sounds of gunfire were heard coming from the other room. Some of the guards began to head that way, only to be put down quickly with the hostile assailants coming out with guns aimed at the group in general, some of them opening fire with their bolt-action rifles and gunning down some of the civilians. Friedrich, not taking any chances, sought to find cover quickly.
As he peered over the side of the table, stood a fair share of gunmen, at least on the first floor, from what he could count, there were at least 4 or 5 on the first floor. Since they were armed with bolt-action rifles, and from the distance, he would not be able to make his way in without getting shot full of holes. He would have to separate them, and dispatch them when alone. This would be a simple feat, if he had any weapons nearby he could use, or something to keep him protected from weapons fire until he could take one of their own.
“Damnations, how the hell am I getting out of this mess, let alone with friends and civilians in the way.” Friedrich thought to himself, wondering just what he can do to break their concentration. Suddenly the firing stopped and one of the assailants yelled out, "Alright, hands up. Everyone is coming with us! Move it!!!"
"Okay, this is strange, first they fire at them, then they are trying to take prisoners, just what the hell is going on?" Friedrich continued to think, looking to try and sneak to the closest individual. Ironically, this would put him close to Minister Hobbs, but would also bring him by the side of the Captain. "Hauptmann, Lord Minister, do you have any ideas on getting these people out of here? I'd rather put the safety of innocent lives as a first priority."
Heads down....
For now, Madame, I do not mind if you stand as my guard and fellow ally in this confusing time. Spies and defusing conspiracies of the highest treason is not my cup of tea and I seek someone with experience, one that I see with you. I am but a humble judge, jury and condemner… I'm sure by now you know what those fine creations of mine are made of…
Heidemarie inwardly showed distaste at the idea that she had to be the guard of such a shady character. What would other Alemmanians or even minor politicians and spies think if they see her in extended company of such a controversial figure? She also couldn't see where he got the confidence in her in regards to her experience in defusing conspiracies and spies. She was a soldier. Direct confrontation and brute strength was her forte, not espionage or delicate web spinning.
Officially, I'm here to unveil my newest work to Line Ark. Unofficially, I am collecting all third party assistance to stop this Conspiracy --- and capture a Luddite, if such past flaw existed,
Again, i am a soldier, not a spymaster. My assistance will be limited
But please, Madame, do not let my disposition intimidate you. If I wanted my guests 'punished', I would have done it in the ballroom. But I have standards and conditions to be met before such actions are taken. For now, rest assured, despite my intimidating background, I mean no harm…Just a humble minister requesting aid in stopping this madness the spy spoke of,
She was not intimidated. At the very least, not to the point where she quivered in her boots. He is not a phantom, nor incorporeal. Therefore, she can kill him. She fears nothing that she can kill. However, wariness and caution never hurts and this man needed every bit of it. She wouldn't be surprised if he had plans to convert every person he comes across. Still, there was no reason to not at least see him out for a bit. She needed more information about this threat. If the threat is real, it is her world duty to stop any destabilisation of current society. However, if it turns out to be just another power pull by using her by Gods she will make sure he will remember the consequences of doing so.
I expect a very earnest answer before we leave those doors, Madame. For now, let us attend our guests,
No need to wait for the door. I shall assist for now. If there is a major risk to the world, i am willing to put aside differences. However, i must inform you that should you double cross myself or my associate, i will make sure, to my utmost power, that you will remember the consequences of doing so.
With that warning out of the way, it was time to get to work. Hobbs continued to play his generous politician persona. With several motions, he motioned for her to take a seat next to him, which would probably make discussion easier. A clap later, another, smaller automaton floated in.
"Ms. Scarlet, Ms. Weiss! I say you must be all enjoying the evening show! Let's all dine now shall we? Boys! Boy Wonder! Do join us please! This room is far from dangerous!
"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is my aide, Milena. She is no mere Automaton, but a pupil of mine. Do treat her as one of your own,
"Good evening, guests of Minister Hobbs. I am his assistant and protégé, Milena. If you need anything from the outside, please advise me. Until then, do make yourselves at home. Minister Hobbs is welcoming to his guests,
"Now, Madame. How goes the political climate over at your country? How is family?
This line of conversation was obviously just diversionary cover. As if he had the time, nor interest in his family, though hers was special, so he might ACTUALLY have a slight interest. Regardless, it was time to play along.
Relatively stable, Minister Hobbs. I am free enough to come to Line Ark, so that shows that the situation in Alemmania is rather low key as of now. Surely your sources could tell you much more indepth information, or have you wrung her dry already?
Another feeble attempt at a code, trying to ask whether Hobbs has gotten all that can be gotten from the spy. Heidemarie curse herself. Why was her speech capablities lacking as such? She was jsut too used to not beeating around the bush. All hell broke loose when the sharp crack of rifle fire rang clear through the entire building. This wasnt like Ms Scarlet's small pen. This was a full rifle round, accurate to over a kilometer and capable of killing any man in a single shot. Heidemarie instantly ducked down to break line of sight. They cannot shoot at what they dont know is there. She didnt stop there. This time, her luger came right out and Heidemarie racked a round into the chamber.
"Hauptmann, Lord Minister, do you have any ideas on getting these people out of here? I'd rather put the safety of innocent lives as a first priority."
Franz had also thought of the same idea of getting down. Military training begets good habits.
Unterofficer, my mother once said to me, "Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet". Right now, the best we can do is to get out of this hall. I honestly doubt that Minister Hobbs being here and them showing up is mere coincidence. I say i go and draw their attention by drawing them out through one of the staff entrances, whilst you take advantage and evacuate Hobbs and the others in the other direction. I got my rifle and my gear in my room. We will have a much better chance in actually doing anything when we aren't fighting on their terms and being pinned. Here Unterofficer, my bayonet.
From within her coat, Heidemarie drew out her long bayonet and handed it, hilt first to Franz. She would need the luger in order to draw their attention and to keep alive, should she need to gun her way out of trouble.
I trust you haven't gone rusty enough to forget your basic training and be unable to use this, have you Unterofficer?
Heidemarie paused for a second. It was a plan, but maybe Hobbs knew better. After all, it was most likely him that they were after.
Any other suggestions Minister?
Levont and Eile Wiess.
Gunfire snapped the pair out of their thoughts as the pair instantly took cover. Eile beside Fred and
Levont behind Heidemarie. The god race boy pulled out his spear as the cat girl pulled out her twin swords.
"You up for this Eile? This is not like fighting wild animals." Levont muttered.
Eile nodded her head.
"I'll be ok. I won't let them hurt anyone." Eile responded as the pair peered out to the first floor.
Five riflemen can be seen herding people along as Eile and Levont looked back to Fred and Heidemarie.
"Hauptmann, Lord Minister, do you have any ideas on getting these people out of here? I'd rather put the safety of innocent lives as a first priority."
Unterofficer, my mother once said to me, "Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet". Right now, the best we can do is to get out of this hall. "A distraction eh." Levont muttered as he looked at Eile.
Eile looked directly into Levont's eyes as the unspoken question ran between them
'You sure? They could figure out what we know.' Eile thought mentally while looking at Levont.
One nod answered her hidden question. Eile closed her eyes as she started to focus. Down on the first floor, runic symbols appeared in random areas as water started to flow unrestrained all over the first floor, the water sound instantly overpowering the sound of voices on the first floor.
"The hell is this?! Search this floor!" One of the riflemen yelled as three of their group spread out to locate the source.
Levont quickly followed up by focusing as well. This time, various large continuous veins of flames erupted within the flooded first floor as the flames dove right into the water, putting itself out and causing steam to quickly engulf the building. The hostages started panicking as they shuffled back and forth, trying to keep away from both the riflemen and the flames.
Levont nodded as Eile stood up.
"Let's go. Eile go with the others and make sure they escape as well." Levont muttered as he walked toward the door
Minister Alfred Hobbs -
- Assault at the VIP Room -
"Milena, you don't mind if I take a step outside? I need to mail in an archeological report on my findings in the Saadia digsite."
If she had a proper face and body over the minuscule module her brain was placed on, Milena would glare at him for his attempt to compromise her master's plan. She fixed her voice to appear less condescending and hoped he would understand.
"I'm sorry, sir. Minister Hobbs wishes to reveal further information before you are to leave his sight. And currently, it is in our best interest to see his gathered guest safe and secured within his knowledge. Perhaps you can do such a thing later at The Embassy, as Minister Hobbs is yet inviting you to have a further look into Orlina's glorious history," Milena said.
She did not want to have anyone leave yet, fortunately Madame Heidmarie was more than willing to cooperate but it was Milena's duty to keep his guests in line until they can be safely seen off at The Embassy and keeping them away from his affairs once Alfred's assessment of them deem them useful for the plan. Heidmarie's acknowledgement of her lack of intelligence gathering and spying capabilities was no doubt a front to what she and Alfred thinks, they knew her to have more potential and would need her for uncovering the conspiracy. Aleminia has far better relations at Line Ark than Orilna, due to Alfred's controversial repertoire.
It was difficult to convince Heidmarie to share her intelligence network and much more so with Levont and Elie due to her teacher's disdain for their flawed appearance over his idealized vision (no doubt in Milena's mind, both of them converted into perfected Automatons or at least removed of their flaws) yet it was her duty to use any means necessary and as well disciplining Alfred should he step too far and raise his pride higher from seeking help even to those he sees as beneath his gaze.
Alfred however smirked underneath the metal mask hiding his broken visage, Heidmarie is a clever woman and worthy of his admiration as the two played their mind games as to who would reveal their Ace in the hole. An old opponent or reluctant ally in his eyes like her could never be so cunning and humble, as his press against her was an attempt to get her to use her intelligence network and influence in Line Ark to help establish a better understanding of the political climate between her country and this corrupted place as he already knew Line Ark would almost want nothing to do with Orlina unless it is extra unstoppable armies in the form of his Automatons and at times, tourism. Alemmanians are so fascinating, he thought.
"Ohoho~! By jove, they tell me nothing! A Minister such as me rarely delves into the political arena unless something of note has attracted my attention. I'm afraid Madame, that the good lady has already lost her tongue, but she may no doubt come around to good Uncle Alfred," Alfred said in a very kind tone, the last two sentences was a mixed code stating that the spy has been converted rather than killed and has emotionally broken down, rather than lost her sanity. He was certain that she knew the spy would have to be broken, before loyally following her new master.
Before Alfred was to unveil the conspiracy to the children, Ms. Scarlet and Fredrich, rifle blasts came and all hell abruptly broke loose, the shot rang violently and a few bullets tore through the door of their private VIP room and broke through Alfred's champagne glass. He had thought it to be one of Ms. Scarlets strange inventions as a prank against him, but no doubt this was different and far more sinister. The glass shards fell unto his metallic hands as the others ducked for cover, he remained stationary as bullets fired rapidly within the room, Ultronium's glowing purple aura enveloped Alfred as some bullets melted upon contact with the bio-electrical field the staff gave off to its master. He sighed again in displeasure, dropping his nicety and switching to his cold persona that he was known for.
"Oh dear me…" Alfred's kind voice dropped into a cold tone as champagne poured unto his converted body. His red, glowing eyes turned to the door as more shots were fired. Milena responded by signaling The Automatons to move and dispatch them, yet no response came. And the threat of them being captured was imminent.
"Eh? It can't be! Those two are already … " she exclaimed. If this was the case, then no doubt they have already been killed by the assailants outside. Alfred remained silent and finally stood, his staff Ultronium resonating at his person.
He remained silent. It was rare that his jovial personality dropped and his warm, glowing red eyes became filled with wrath and matching those of a killer.
"Hauptmann, Lord Minister, do you have any ideas on getting these people out of here? I'd rather put the safety of innocent lives as a first priority."
"Boy, I have business with these rude gentlemen. But I agree my guests take priority. Milena, see to an alternate exit," Alfred commanded. If he knew the architectural structure of the room, it would be enough for Milena to cut through and allow her to open a path of their own to the lobby. His plan would be to lead them to his room, but as he thought so, Heidmarie advised the young man at his stead.
"Unterofficer, my mother once said to me, "Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet". Right now, the best we can do is to get out of this hall. I honestly doubt that Minister Hobbs being here and them showing up is mere coincidence. I say i go and draw their attention by drawing them out through one of the staff entrances, whilst you take advantage and evacuate Hobbs and the others in the other direction. I got my rifle and my gear in my room. We will have a much better chance in actually doing anything when we aren't fighting on their terms and being pinned. Here Unterofficer, my bayonet." She said while tossing the young man her bayonet. If a rifle and his own magitek staff would be sufficient to withstand against these marauders, then it was a chance he was willing to take. First her rifle and gear, then to take his prisoner along. Her head would be sufficient enough, as he had her entire body sustained without it. She needed to talk, not walk. Rifle first, then the Head of the spy next. And then off to the Embassy where they would no doubt be safe, is what he thought carefully while assessing the current situation,
"I trust you haven't gone rusty enough to forget your basic training and be unable to use this, have you Unterofficer?"
" Any other suggestions Minister?"
"In moments such as these, Madame, I had long wished your family had served The Glorious Empire of Orlina instead of Alemmina. I shall return thanks by allowing us time to escape while I punish our fiendish guests outside. We shall head to your room, then we shall attend to our broken lamb waiting before finally leaving this unforgiving Inn. The Orlinian Embassy should not be so far from here and I shall provide Sanctuary for all of us by the might of our Glorious Empire as we interrogate our lamb further," Alfred said. He had hoped to collect the only one piece of evidence against whatever conspiracy was going on at Line Ark: the converted spy was no doubt the key. These fiends outside were no doubt trying to get him and the guests to unlock the container holding his prisoner. He had wished to think two steps ahead, for he was certain that he did not double security nor had he thought to outfit the now dead Automaton duo outside with weaponry or advanced armor to combat the rifles.
"What are you waiting for, dear!? Hop to it! " Alfred snapped at Milena as he twirled Ultronium, the legendary Luddite staff acquired from his father.
"Yes, sir!" Milena said and floated to the opposite end and guided her guests. Alfred raised Ultronium as its power erupted, purple flows of electrical magic charged up and he pointed the staff to the door, its power erupted and conducted through, he heard searing sounds as if tearing through things but had no intention of hitting anything.
"Gentlemen! That was but my dire warning blast, should you attempt to follow or fire another of your pathetic rifles, then my next spell will be even more severe," Alfred's voice switched from a normal decibel heard to that of a large announcing panel, another perk of converting his body to that of a half machine. The voice boomed outside, daring them to fire another shot. He had come prepared, as Ultronium's defenses could shield him from the rifles' armor piercing bullets this time. He must make sure to collect those rifles, for their armor piercing rounds could prove dangerous and yet useful in further evolving the metal used for his perfect future of Automatons.
Milena focused her energy in firing a charged laser from her two tiny artificial appendages to form a make shift door, these cutters were able to melt the concrete and allowed the wall to crumble through the arch she was making. Once she was done, she could see Elie and Levont focusing on something, perhaps the fear or the rush of the situation was too intense for them. Milena's brain within the mechanical floating device now serving as her body had fear taken away from her long ago, all she had in trust was Minister Hobbs and his word.
"Let's go. Eile go with the others and make sure they escape as well."
Alfred could take no chances. He would not split them apart, much less this boy who for sure had a distaste for him upon first meeting.
"I think not, Boy! If you wish to stay unarmed yet charge into the fray of battle, then I forbid it! You are to leave with the Madame and the rest. I shall follow suit! The path you choose is unsafe! Trust in me for once," Alfred said as he blocked Levont from attempting to use the door. He was uncertain why the young boy would choose to risk his life without accord, but laid Ultronium down firmly to forbid him to leave without the safety of the others. Heaven knows if there are other riflemen ready to snipe them from outside the door.
"This way! This way! Hurry! Madame Heidmarie, we need you at the front! Your room takes priority! Sir Hobbs will be able to put up a decent fight on his own to buy us time," Milena called out said while requesting all his guests to evacuate through the makeshift exit she had conducted while Alfred's wrath grew. It was one thing to call him a madman and a controversial figure, yet it was another to ruin one of his works. His two Automatons, long serving him, had now lay broken and easily defeated by these men who wished to play the higher individual against him. He looked back to the exit and the front where more riflemen were waiting, but he knew this was beneath him. He had to take charge and see those that joined him in this abrupt turmoil be seen safe.
Scarlet was too engrossed scribbling her ideas down to pay Levont's sarcasm any heed. Like a blunt arrow, it ricocheted off her armour of ignorance. She continued her furious writing, her handwriting growing messier and messier. Her eyes were trained on the pages, now getting filled up with letters after letters. She could sense Eile coming by her side, but she was far too busy to pay her any heed as well. And so she wrote, and wrote. As if that's all her life was for, and in some ways, that seemed appropriate, given the fact her ideas were born out of such writing. Perhaps not the most ideal thing to be doing at a dinner with several others gathered with her, but as the others were engaged in conversation with each other and not her, she saw no need to care.
Not that she would, nevertheless. And not that she cared, even when a larger commotion began. Gunshots, broken champagne glasses, hostile-looking individuals barging into rooms; all those don't matter. Her writing did. As some began to duck for cover and some reacted in their own ways, she looked up on occasion to observe her companions' reactions, some of which were fascinating to watch - especially Alfred's. Of course, there were the twins, calling up the elements out of nothingness. It piqued her curiosity just as much as Alfred did and Scarlet would have enjoyed looking into the phenomenon but Milena began to guide them away.
And having failed to notice Milena when she entered the room earlier, her curiosity was now captivated by this new automaton. Following Milena with her mouth agape, she took in the details, incidentally making her way into the safety of the makeshift exit in the process. She cast a glance back at Alfred, staring at Ultronium which he held in his hand while she awaited the others to follow and Milena to lead them away.
