[RP] The Gates of Tehera

OOC: Just a heads up to let everyone know that I'm skipping this to the afternoon to speed things up a little. So for most of you, that would be the end of school at 2pm.

IC: For the rest of the day, Natasha became more aware of her capabilities. She stuck by Sophia a lot, scared that the demon that had attempted to kill her vampire friend before in the bathroom. Richard had excused them, knowing full well of the situation and had silently muttered to his sister that they would talk later. Sophia's main concern was being by Natasha's side just in case the demon would make a second attempt to fully possess her body.

Not all that bad being psychic, is it?

A few minutes to the end of their last class, which happened to be biology, Natasha glanced at Sophia, who was sat next to her at the apparatus. She had been using and abusing the fact that Natasha being psychic meant they could open a telepathic link between them. The young psychic rolled her eyes, producing a small weak smile.

Soph, we're meant to be taking notes down or else Mr Tanner will put us in detention, she shot back.

Sophia smirked cheekily. So he really knows that we're having a telepathic conversation now, does he? Nat, ninety percent of the town doesn't know of the existence of supernatural beings right in front of them.

The bell rang thereafter, enabling everyone to leave class and get out of school for the day. Natasha put her things away and left with Sophia.

"So are you going to make amends with Lucius?" she asked curiously.

"Only if he's willing to," replied Natasha, remembering the full details of their argument that prompted him to leave for a while. She hadn't told Sophia in fear that she would stick her nose in by accident.

"Ok, do you want a ride home?"

"Thanks for the offer, but no. I need to walk home. Clear my head. It's gonna be really awkward when I get back, anyway."

Sophia smiled comfortingly, only afraid of Lucius and her having another argument that would possibly cause her to leave this time. There was still much more she needed to explain to her best friend. The hardest part would be telling her that she and Richard were vampires. As for the Council ... well, that was another part that would have to wait. The task was to closely monitor Natasha. All of this information had to sink into her brain for now. She waved weakly at her, as she got in her car and drove off down the road.

Finally alone, Natasha knew that it wasn't the best idea to go home alone without Sophia. Today had proved anything could happen. However, she hadn't had much time to be alone. There was one place that she wanted to go to, somewhere she hadn't visited in over two weeks. After walking through town for ten minutes, she eventually reached her destination. Going through the silver rusty gates, Natasha found her mother's grave. She bent down on the grass and dropped her bag to her side.

"Hi, Mom," she said quietly.

This was the only place she felt that she could be herself, apart from her bedroom. The mask of courage she put on was to fool everyone else and assure them that she was fine. Deep inside, she just wasn't. A tear slid down her cheek.

"I'm sorry that I haven't visited for a long time, but you probably know that Lucius and I had a big fallout. Look ... I know that we shouldn't have done it. I know you don't like it when we argue. I wanna give it another go, but it's just ... he ... oh, I don't know. I feel real stupid talking to myself."

Rendon had expected that class to not be good for him, and he was right. Instead of trying to break his fear, he strengthened it by not joining in any class activities. He had left the classroom disgusted at himself, and decided to head home afterwords. While walking, he thought about it, and decided to take a stroll through the graveyard, to see if that would possibly help any. He walked around and looked at the gravestones, calling out the names of the people. Realizing this wouldn't help him any, he decided to leave.

He could hear the person talking, but he couldn't find the voice. Possibly seeing this as his chance to make a friend, he searched, until he found someone sitting by themselves in front of a gravestone. He started to approach her, thinking to himself what he would say to her.

"What am I gonna say? I don't even know this person and I don't want to feel wierd walking up to some girl in a graveyard trying to make a friend." He said aloud to himself, hoping she would not hear him.

Raistlin heard Mystro ask if Remilia always apologized like that, and Raistlin cracked a grin. “Unfortunately, yes. She hates being able to read thoughts like that. She feels as if it's an invasion of privacy. Fortunately for me, I found a way around that.” As they continued down the street, he felt Remilia grab his arm and hold it close to hers.

“Are you okay?”, she asked, obviously worried about his condition. After all, he did just burn his wound closed. “I'll be fine, but due to the blows to the head, I've probably got a concussion, so I won't be sleeping tonight.” She looked downward at her feet as he said this. “I'll stay awake with you, if you'd like.” Raistlin smiled, “You need your rest, we've no clue when Pharaun will strike again.”

As they neared Raistlin's house, it was turning dark. He opened the door, and allowed everyone inside. “Come on in, the house is pretty big, make yourselves at home.”

Pharaun was not pleased as he sat on his throne in his secret base. He enjoyed this place, because you had to create a portal to get in, there was no way in, and no way out unless he was the one bringing you in. He wanted to bring Remilia and Raistlin in there so, so badly. It would be so much fun...

However, while he was in town, he wanted to do other things... As well as women. He wanted to bring down the treaty, and whatever the hell it stood for.

Who the fuck did these morons think they were? “Equality among humans, my ass.”, Pharaun said allowed. “We're better than them. They should be our slaves.”

Standing up, he paced back and forth in his lair. He needed an army... Maybe he could convince that Earth Elemental to join him...

((OOC: I don’t really know the state of the house though… So I’ll just leave out Reine’s opinions about that))

Night had fallen upon the town as Reine and the others walked. Reine was trying her best not to think but inevitably, she couldn’t wonder about what the others in school, whoever they may be, would be thinking about her absence. Will a punishment be awaiting her? Or maybe a letter sent out to her parents? She dreaded the possibility but ignored it anyway.

Just as she pushed the thought out of her mind, the group arrived at what appeared to be Raistlin’s house. It was a rather big one, definitely larger than Reine’s, and it sort of made Reine even more interested to take a step into the house. She didn’t need Raistlin’s welcome to literally rush in. Inside, she quickly made for the living room, then the kitchen. “Cool,” She muttered to herself.

“But will it really be safe here?”

Reine couldn’t help feeling her pulse quicken again. The thought of the demon from earlier sprung back to mind. He, or ‘it’, apparently had the ability to move anywhere he deemed fit through the use of those ugly portals. These portals were still vivid in Reine’s mind and as she thought about it, the mental image of those portals and the eyes within surfaced. Irked by it, Reine turned away to the group.

“Oh,” She said, looking over to Raistlin’s wound. Speaking to Remilia, Reine gestured around herself,” Is there any first aid kit or something? We should really do something about that wound before it like, gets infected or something.”

Raistlin had answered the question. A psychic that hates her own powers...Shame. Mystro felt it was a shame because such an ability could be used so well. Apparently touching her also made whoever was touching her feel her emotions. He had already experienced that.

Now they were approaching a house that was clearly Raistlin's house. They had entered. It was just about the size of his...meaning it was rather large. He could easily make himself comfortable here. Had it been a small house he might have requested to go home, but why go the distance? He quickly found a chair. Reine seemed to like it here. Of course, suiting of a water elemental, she was worried about the injury acquired by Raistlin.

Mystro closed his eyes, not trying to look asleep, but it may have seemed that way because he was so relaxed. He couldn't help it though, all of the sudden he felt the need to ask Remilia a question. He did so in his head. Remilia...what are emotions like? I never bothered to try but you seem full of them. It didn't even occur to him that he basically just called her an emotional train wreck...

(OOC: Was going through this thread and realized that it was somewhat my fault that Squee, and Ephemeral couldn’t post. For some reason, I never saw that you two posted, and never checked again. I’m fixing that now. Seeing as we have a slight RP slump, that even I’m getting impatient with, we might as well milk this while we can.)

They had arrived at the house, and were all on the inside. “The food is obviously in the kitchen. I do recall something about Mystro over there cooking,” Raistlin said, in a poking-fun-of tone. “Also, don’t worry, Reine, we’ll be fine here. If the demon uses any kind of logic at all, he’s not going to put up too much of a fuss in one day lest he attract the attention of the council.”

Remilia was still somewhat shaken by the whole experience, more than anything she wanted something else to wear. However, she had no clothes here, and found that she was going to have to borrow one of Raistlin’s huge overcoats to wear while she washed her clothes. Reine asked about an aid kit, to which Raistlin answered before Remilia could. “Yes, there are some in the kitchen, as well as the restroom. If you don’t mind, I’m going to sit on the couch for a bit. Remilia, could you be a dear and go get the kit, please? My legs don’t seem to be working right at the moment.”

Nodding, she went to get the kit from the kitchen, which was kept in a cabinet next to the sink. She brought it to Raistlin. “Here, I’m going to go take a shower. Do you mind if I borrow one of your huge coats to wear while I wash my clothes?” Remilia asked. The answer she got was not expected, “Remilia, a chance to see your wearing nothing but my coat is worth risking a limb for. By all means, do go get it.” That had to be the concussion talking, it just had to be. She was turning red as she ran up the stairs when she heard Mystro ask a question in her head.

Remilia…. What are emotions like? I never bothered to try but you seem full of them.

Well… I- You see- Now thinking about it, despite always feeling some sort of emotion,

she couldn’t seem to answer the question. However, she tried her best. They’re good when they’re good and bad when they’re bad. This… Probably won’t make much sense, it’s hard to explain. However, when I’m alone and I can hear my own thoughts, and no one else’s, I find them to be enjoyable. But like today, when fighting Pharaun, I was scared, and then they were not so good. I’m not sure if that helps at all…

She then went up stairs to Raistlin’s ridiculously large room, and pulled out a trench coat of his from his closet. “Could he wear anything that didn’t make people avoid him?” She asked herself. She then went to the restroom as she started up a shower.

Raistlin, however, was fumbling with the first aid kit. “Shit, it appears I have lost feeling in my fingers.”

((OOC: I guess this means we will have to make Mystro NPC for the time being as well.))

Hearing Raistlin's words put Reine at ease, but nudged at her curiosity. 'Council? What council?' She thought to herself before remembering again that Remilia could hear her thoughts, before realizing again that Remilia wasn't anywhere close to herself.

“Shit, it appears I have lost feeling in my fingers.”

"You need some ice?"
Reine asked, raising a hand to condense the vapor into the air into small chunks of ice. She didn't bother to wait for a response, condensing more and more of the vapor chunk by chunk into a larger block. Then, she took Raistlin's hands, and formed the ice around his hands, like an ice glove.

"Haha, well, if it gets too much, just burn it up."

Chuckling to herself, she continued, curiously," But hey, what's this council you're talking about? I'm sorry if it's any inconvenience to ask, but I've just came here into this town, so I don't really know."

Natasha shook her head. Maybe she was being stupid trying to cling onto the memory of her mother. She wasn't here anymore, maybe this was too childish. She didn't imagine her mother to be watching down on her, but she liked to think sometimes that she really was. Coming to terms with the fact that she was psychic posed a lot of questions for her. From all of the people who knew Alicia, she wasn't psychic. It wouldn't be an easy secret to carry to the grave, anyway.

She rose to her feet again, brushing off the grass stains off her jeans and sighed sadly. It was hard putting on that mask of courage when all she really wanted to do was break down and mourn. Natasha hadn't allowed herself to mourn since Lucius walked out that night. She felt it hadn't been right to do so without him.

But now Lucius was back. And that was what made all the difference.

She turned around and jumped when she caught sight of a guy, who looked like he had been watching her. But then again, wasn't this a graveyard? He was probably visiting someone like her, right?

"I'm sorry," she apologised and smiled quickly, hoping she hadn't alarmed him. "You scared me."

Class had ended and Lucius had gone to his locker, gotten his books and prepared to walk back to... wherever it was he was sleeping that night. Holding his books close to him, he walked out of the door, past all the other busy students, talking so animatedly. Tch, if only they knew what was going on near them right now.

That psychics were in their midst. And not only that, but vampires, elementals, werewolves, shapeshifters. Yet they were content in their ignorance, weren't they? All to happy to ignore the oppressed and live their lives.

While they hid who they really were, displaying false smiles to the world even as they contained their immeasurable power just below the surface. Sophia, her brother and Natasha were all too happy to follow these rules, yet not he. He wouldn't show such ignorance. It was his duty to free the minds of both sides of the council.

He was so caught up in his own thoughts that he didn't realize how close he was to the cemetery. The place of death his mother was buried in. Another one content to hide her children's heritage. Disgusting. Though to be expected from their weakling of a mother.

But something else was here now.

Ah, his anointed sister. No doubt acting all sad and pathetic. The resentment he felt was spoiled, yes, but he felt it was perfectly justified. She simply couldn't contained her emotions. Natasha had always been weak like that, as far as Lucius was concerned. He couldn't stay too long, or she'd sense him.

It seemed she was with another. Lucius felt a sudden burst of coldness in him. Was this person stalking her? Or had she taken him to their mother's grave? If she was in trouble... he was still her brother. He would help her if she faced harm.

Still, the woman buried here was his mother. He stopped to wish her well, hope that the afterlife was everything she needed. But he didn't cry.

He would never cry.

OOC: Until Cardiac Kid posts, I'm going to be posting as Sophia and Richard for now.

IC: It wasn't easy leaving Natasha to clear her head, but Sophia understood that humans wanted to be left alone for at least sometime. She arrived at the Griffiths Mansion, which was only accessible via a private road through the forest. It was here that they could both feel free to reveal their true nature away from the prying eyes of the town. It hadn't been easy being a vampire for the pair, but they had adapted in the two hundred years they'd been eternally young for.

Once she reached the front of the Mansion, she pulled up and heard Richard inside. How was it that he was home before she was? Weren't teachers meant to stay behind and do extra work or something? Then again, Sophia didn't fully know the concept of high school. Studying it for ten years may have been one thing, but experiencing it was another.

"I had to come back," he explained when she walked through the front door. It was as if he'd read her mind.

Sophia saw the hunger in his eyes. He was struggling to keep his eyes fixed on his sister.

"What happened to our supplies?" she asked curiously. "I thought that the Council was going to send fresh blood to us while we were out and leave it by the usual place."

"They were intercepted," growled Richard. He wasn't particularly pleased. "I can smell some. Have got any? I'm ... desperate. I don't want to attack anyone in this state."

"God, you really are struggling. Here, sit down a minute."

She guided Richard to the living room, where the TV was already on. The news was talking about the murder of Alicia Winters and how the drunk driver that knocked her down still hadn't handed himself into the police. Sophia felt her temper flare momentarily before taking out the pack of pig's blood from her jacket and ripping it open slightly for her brother to drink.

"We need to set up a meeting with the Council as soon as possible," she suddenly said.

"Why?" asked Richard.

"Do you remember when Natasha wasn't ill and bolted out of your class today?"

"What about it?"

"A demon was in there, trying hard to possess her. Rich, how could we miss it? She was so vulnerable and ..."

"Did you drive it away?"

"For now, yes. But we still failed to see it! The Council has big plans for Natasha, or at least when she's ready. And speaking of which, we should really keep an eye on Lucius."

"Lucius? You mean Lucius Remora, Natasha's twin brother? Why?"

"Let's just say that if we have ourselves a set of twins and there's a good one and a bad one, I think that Lucius is the bad one."

"I'm sorry, You scared me."

"Don't be alarmed. I was just.......passing through."

He wanted to tell her what he was really doing, but the words just wouldn't come to him. He stood there for a minute and tried to tell her, but he just couldn't do it. Finally, he turned around, and started to walk away.

"Have a pleasant day, miss."

As he started to walk home, he just couldn't help but wonder what that would have been like if he was able to say something. He shook it off and continued home, thinking to himself that tomorrow, things were gonna be different, just like he did every day since that day.

Natasha got a reply from the stranger, but he looked like he was struggling to say something to her. Eventually, he wished her a pleasant day and left without anymore hesitation. She thought it was strange how he couldn't say whatever it was he wanted to say, but supposed that it was awkward talking somewhere that bodies were buried. She felt the weather get breezy and decided it was time to head back home. After all, Fran would be in soon.

The walk was another twenty minutes, but she didn't mind.

She tended to ignore people because she wasn't in the mood to make eye contact or even talk. Well, at the very least, anyway. She wanted to get home and resume her life of pretending that everything was going to be ok when it wasn't. It also brought one important question to mind.

Was Lucius going to be home tonight?

Regardless, Natasha felt obliged to tell Fran. After all, she was the one that spearheaded the hunt for him. That hunt had to be called off eventually. Luckily for her, she didn't bump into anyone that bothered her. A lot of people knew her because she was captain of the high school's soccer team and had literally lived in Tehera since she was born.

Without her mother or Lucius by her side, Natasha had never felt so alone before. Fran was there of course, but it never erased the fact her mother was dead and Lucius hated her.

When she walked through the door, no one was here. She supposed Fran was stuck in traffic or had something going on at work. All was well at home, but since discovering her powers, she'd become very paranoid someone was watching her. The revelation that a demon had attempted to possess her and had been wearing her down for a few days made her even more scared than ever.

But Sophia could explain everything soon. She was sure of it.

She glanced at her cell phone, wondering what to do next. She scrolled down her contacts list, eventually stopping on Lucius' number. Going against what she would've normally done, Natasha rang him. But it didn't take no more than a few seconds for it to go straight to voicemail. So it only left her the option to leave a message.

"Hey, Lucius," she said quietly, contemplating what she was going to say. "Well, at least your phone was ringing this time. I bet this is the hundredth message you've got in a while, but don't delete this. We really need to talk. I know what's going on, it happened to me a few days ago. Well, just straight after you left, actually."

She paused momentarily, thinking that she was sounding crazy. Then she realised what to say and just came out with it.

"I'm psychic, you're psychic. This town is full of supernatural creatures ... and ... well ... I'd probably ask for your help. But I guess you're being an ass feeling sorry for yourself. So I may as well just let the damn thing come and possess me again, taking into account that you know what I'm talking about."

Her voice started becoming quick and angry.

"You know what? Fine. If you can't even answer your goddamn phone, then why the hell should you even be in my life? To hell with trying to rebuild these crappy bridges! Fran was wrong! I don't need you in my life anymore! I'll just let the thing take me and hope it KILLS you!"

She slammed the phone down and threw it at the wall out of frustration.

Natasha buried her face in her hands, breathing slowly. She shouldn't have really vented out her anger at her brother. But had she really meant what she said on the message? Then again, what was the point in living anymore? Her mom was dead, her brother hated her and her aunt was trying to pretend this was all ok.

"Pfft, I don't need them anymore," she said.

You are right, child. You only need me.

"Who said that!?" said Natasha, jumping to her feet.

I tried to liberate you of your pain before, but your friend was so determined to see you suffer. She is keeping a big secret from you. Why do you trust her? Why do you feel the need to hide behind her? You are afraid.

The demon was right. Sophia seemed to be hiding a lot of things. Her attitude had changed since the crash. There was a lot of pain and turmoil. What was the point anymoe? Natasha wanted to be free of it all. Free from this accursed life.

But I can take you now. I can free you, Natasha. I could force my way in, but I want your consent this time. I promise that the truth will set you free. Even Lucius will suffer for what he has done to you, my child.

"Do it," said Natasha without anymore hesitation.

She waited for the pain that she felt when the demon first attempted to control her. But strangely enough, there was none. Perhaps it was because she had resisted the first time. The demon made its way into her body, making her more powerful than she could have imagined. It controlled her, making her walk over to the mirror and examine her red eyes.

An evil smile crept upon her face. Natasha did not care for the consequences anymore now that she was free.

The ice felt very good on his skin, cooling the wounds that he had gotten. As she pressed her hands onto his, coving his hands with ice, he could hear Remilia starting her shower. He then took his hands, and pressed them against his side. “Oh my,” he said, “That feels good. Thank you. I didn’t know you were new to town, you’ve got a lot to learn,” he chuckled.

“The Council is a group of people here that governs… Well… Us. People like you and I with powers are unheard of by otherwise normal human beings. The Council plans on keeping it that way. However, there are those, like that demon, who want it destroyed,” Raistlin explained. “They’re pretty much the long arm of the law for the not so normal people, like us. In fact, one day, I wish to work for the council.” Smiling, he then said, “This ice glove thing is rather helpful, thanks again.”

Listening to his sister's message, and her sudden tangled web of emotions. from her usual calm, to pleading, to anger. Lucius was about to switch his phone off and block her out, when fourteen words shocked him into speechlessness.

"I may as well just let the damn thing come and possess me again"

What in the world? He had never ordered that. He wanted the supernatural to be integrated with the human world, but he had never ordered this. Never wanted this. Was it a demon that had taken her? If so, he had to track her down.

Dialing Sophia's number into his phone, he already knew that if a demon had possessed her, it would try to get her again when she was at an emotional low. Not even bothering to wait after she answered, he spoke immediately.

"Natasha's been possessed again. Track her down and meet me there."

Sophia was still tending to Richard when her cell started vibrating. She was surprised to see the caller ID was Lucius, but she decided to pick up, anyway. And even before she had a chance to speak, he told her the situation. She paused for a few moments longer, realising that all wasn't right. She gave Richard a grave expression before speaking.

"Then I suppose I'll see you there," she said before hanging up on the phone.

"Will you need me?" asked Richard. He'd heard everything that Lucius said.

"It's one demon and I could handle it fine without your help," Sophia smugly pointed out. "I didn't use the holy water, so maybe I will this time."

"But will it hurt Natasha?"

"Unfortunately, yes. As long as the demon carries on using her as its host, then she'll suffer. I've got to get over there. I bet she's at home, can't have Fran finding out her niece is being possessed by a demon hell bent on destroying the Treaty now. This is the demon that got Eric after all."

***

The demon was right. Natasha was free from the pain, the suffering and the truth was setting her free. Everyone had lied to her about who and what she was. Everyone pretended to care. But no more. She allowed the demon to wreak havoc wherever and whenever it willed. Her one request was to not harm Fran, who was oblivious to everything that had been going. And the demon had willingly accepted this, taking them both into a forest in the middle of the town.

"You were right," she said, taking control of her voice. "I don't feel anything now."

My child, this is your destiny. This is what you were meant for. Your power was meant for destroying others. Your birth was meant to be.

"What about my brother? What's his supposed destiny in life, anyway?" Her voice was dripping of venom.

He is a mere pawn and was not meant to exist in this world. You were burdened with him and for that, I shall eliminate him. I will destroy him as you see it fit, Natasha.

"Do it at any time. He doesn't care about me. He never has. Ever since my mother left and I tried talking sense into that idiotic brain of his, he turned his back on me. He doesn't understand that I have a sense of humanity."

Natasha allowed the demon to feed her its lies and continued to believe it. Its manipulative scheme was working. Before long, she would be lost in the darkness and wouldn't even mind being helpless to what would come.

Raistlin's explanation was rather educational, considering how Reine's home schooling never quite covered this 'Council' that Raistlin spoke of. Though, there was nothing much of the demon that she could know at this point in time -- and it instilled profound fear in Reine as she smiled softly in response to Raistlin.

"No problem, just ask again if you do need that 'glove'," She winked, as she giggled.

Thinking further about Raistlin's words, Reine suddenly felt rather curious about the other people in the town that was like her.

"So, this is some sort of 'retreat' of sorts for people like you and me? Do you think I'll be able to meet more people like us in school?"

Suddenly, enthusiasm returned to her voice and face as she looked eagerly for a response.

It didn't take Sophia long to track down Natasha. She found her alone in the woods, aware that the demon inside her body was feeding her its manipulative lies and scheming to take over from the inside. But what if this demon host decided to keep Natasha as a prisoner in her own body? Sophia winced at the thought, growling low under her breath. However, that could have been seen as a mistake, especially since a possessed Natasha had turned around to face her.

"Sophia."

"Natasha ... or is that the demon speaking?"

"Me. The demon is going to kill Lucius, maybe even you. After all, you and Richard ... I know what you both are. The demon opened my eyes. You haven't aged AT ALL, maybe not for hundreds of years. You're vampires, bloodsuckers and you're the spawn of Satan himself."

Sophia merely shrugged. "Ok, I'll take the bloodsuckers remark. I at least deserve that, but the spawn of Satan? That's a new one. Are you sure you're Natasha?"

Crimson flickered in Natasha's eyes. "You're good, bloodsucker. You weren't as stupid as your idiotic brother and I admire that. Unfortunately, what with your nature revealed to poor Natasha, it only means she wants you out of the way."

When the demon was about to move, Sophia raised the holy water in her hand. There was a grave expression written across her face. She cursed under her breath, hoping to God that Lucius would be here soon. With Natasha feeling emotionally vulnerable, the demon was more powerful than ever.

"I can read your thoughts," said the demon, tapping her foot impatiently on the ground. "And when is the prodigal brother going to arrive?"

"Right now." Lucius stood in a fresh patch of autumn leaves with a cold expression on his face. "You have one warning, demon. Leave her or be destroyed." His face betrayed no emotion. Lucius was serious.

Though he held no value for the Treaty, when his sister was harmed by a reckless, power hungry demon, Lucius was not about to let that slide. Fire blossomed in his palm, hovering a few inches above his hands in an unformed tongue without burning his flesh, crackling and sparking like the demon that now possessed his siter.

"One warning," repeated Lucius.

"Aha, so the stage is set!" exclaimed the demon, spreading Natasha's arms out as if it was about to perform a crucial scene in a play. "The prodigal brother arrives, the best friend is the witness. My, oh my. This is just the perfect place for your lives to end."

It started to circle Lucius and Sophia. The crimson was still in Natasha's eyes. Replacing the cold, emotionless expression was now the will to dare and challenge what Lucius had threatened it with. Inside, Natasha felt the hatred for her brother. She felt the negative feelings she had when he had arrived back in Tehera. These emotions only made the demon stronger and it relished that power.

"We have to be careful with this one," Sophia told Lucius. "It killed the old history teacher at school. He was a psychic. You and your sister, you may as well be the last ones on the earth."

"You're clever for not underestimating me, bloodsucker!" hissed the demon.

"Lucius, you need to talk to Natasha," said Sophia, refusing to take her eyes off the powerful demon. "Her emotions are making the demon more powerful than we could possibly imagine! You have to reconnect with her. Find the goodness in there. Natasha isn't a force for evil. I've seen it and it's not what she's destined for."
