Sephiroth has to be replaced!?

when this comes out i will 190% buy it and play for 24 hours a day lol and love it.
yeh i too want a new bad person or maybe a bad group of people like the shinra.
 
To tell you the truth ever since i seen him in Kingdom Hearts he was the best villain i ever seen because every villain i ever fought in video games and seen in movies/shows he surpassed all of them.But to think that squareenix is going to make someone to surpass him is kind of awkward.
 
If it makes the OP feel any better, I never liked Sephiroth. :gmonster:

I only started liking him a bit more when CC rolled around, and I saw his personality when he was sane for half the game.
 
Well sephy has been on the throne for 11 years now, so now would be a good time to replace him with a more badass villian :P

Kuja so nearly hit the mark, but no villian in my honest opinion will ever compare to kefka, now that guy is truely king of all badass villians xD

unstable maniacs always make the best villians :)
 
Don't get me wrong I love Sephiroth, but I do have to agree that there needs to be someone who can whoop up on him.

I myself think that Kuja could, or even Kefka. So they need to make a remake or spin off for Kefka and Kuja.

As far as FFXIII goes there really isn't a set villian I don't think.

I'm not a Sephiroth or FFVII whore, but I do admit the game and villain are epic. Sephiroth is not the epitome of FF Villains; he's just a great one. He's FFVII exclusive. (barring KH games)

The Villain in FFXIII will be loved and hated by many. I don't see another Sephiroth-like bad-guy coming out of this game, but it will be a unique one I can tell.

I bet $25 the Final Boss is Frosty the Snowman.

Sephiroth wasnt even in the game untill like disc 3, all you actually saw was his ugly mother Jenova mimicing her son, so Jenova killed Aeris, Sephiroth is stuck in that crystal being cut in half or something.

I Think Out Of All Villians, Seymour Would Be The Best To Challenge Sephiroth.
 
Please keep on topic, saying you agree and saying Seymour could challenge Sephiroth doesn't really have anything to do with FFXIII, thanks ^^
 
I don't know why but XIII doesnt seem like a game that's gonna create an uber villian like Sephiroth, he/she may be almight and powerful but Sephiroth has been sitting on the throne for a while now and Square are gona have to venture deep into the darkness and corruption of their minds to pull out some one worse than Sephiroth.

But yeah i agree Sephiroth must be replaced, not an easy task but it's gotta be done!

Are you kidding? Sephiroth was badass. With today's youthful gamers, we'll be lucky if FFXIII's villain isn't an emo kid whose special attack is poem writing. Either that or possibly some type of acne cream... the antithesis of goodness.
 
I'd rather they not create a villain for the sole purpose of making him/her more "badass" than Sephiroth, as that will probably end up going horribly wrong... I'm glad they decided NOT to go down that path for FF's VIII-XII.

That said, I don't really understand the whole concept of "replacing" Sephiroth. If the OP means by popularity, I don't think that is very likely to happen, since Sephiroth is pretty much an RPG icon at this point. In terms of quality in overall villainery, then that's really subjective. I personally find Kefka and Kuja to be more enjoyable villains, and can only anticipate to see whether FFXIII will be even more so.

he may be a good villain but he wasnt the foundation, look at kefka for instance from the 6th instalment, he was brilliant, and in my opinion better than septhiroth, some people dnt even know about him as they started out on ff7, unlike some who have played the older games would know

and as long as they dont try to over dramatasize (is tht even a word) the villain then i will like him alot, as kefka was mad but intelligent, unlike modern villains who yap on about there pasts
 
I think we need a more cunning villian, intelligent like kefka but so evil he'll think of something to drive the characters insane, or at least attempt to. We could have one that is not doing it for power or money or anything, just simply because they get a kick out of it. (Bit like Kefka eh?)
 
Naw, No one can replace sephy, he killed a woman, while she was praying! thats down right evil! I mean not even the badest of bad kills a woman, I mean sephy's gonna Be on top for a while, its going to take a lot to out-do Sephiroth....
 
Sephiroth isn't going to dissapear just because of FF13... So for you Sephy fanboys/fangirls you can rest assured.

Personally I wouldn't rate Sephiroth as the king of villains, to me that stays as Kefka...

But who coud possibly take over the throne of the majorities favourite villain in FF13? It depends who you ask.
I'm up for something unique. I said a while back in another thread that we should have an evil moogle villain at some point, and I still stand behind that dream. An evil moogle destroying towns, declaring war on humanity for having destroyed many moogle forests in mans lust for industrialisation... Pure epic.

But I know lots of people want another silver haired pretty-boy with a big sword, black cape or whatever. If they bring us another one of them, then to me Kefka is still king. But to other people, they may still prefer Sephiroth because he was the first of that type. Everyone else is copying him. :O

Perhaps.. So to keep everyone happy... an evil moogle with a big sword, black clothes and silver hair? :P
 
I really am sort of iffy. First of all I’m not that old so when FF7 came out I was about 7/8 years old. So Sephiroth supposed awesomeness wasn’t unleashed on me at all. I wasn't really enchanted with any of the characters to be honest (I guessed I kind of liked cloud because he just always seemed to be the strongest) and if you seen a previous post of mine you would know initially I never liked FF7 as much as I do now. So yea, it wasn't until Sephiroth was unleashed in AC that it truly dawned on him how fantastic this character is in awesomeness. He fights cloud never blinking never sweating and only having a small portion of his power. Gives cloud a victory simply to toy with him. (O yeah and the epic music playing in the background) So basically my point is I’m not a ridiculous obsessed fan here when I say that Sephiroth simply is the baddest Mother you know what ing villain and to try to compete with that is a strenuous task. You'd have to somehow not make him ridiculous. Like how can you make someone stronger than someone that cannot be truly defeated without making him laughable? I think that a unique and interesting character (WITH FLAWS) should be aimed for, someone who can be sympathized and hated at the same time by the same people, someone who is an intellect on the outside but a monster on the inside with a tragic back-story. Maybe if the character is brilliantly written he might be able to be a better villain than someone who is an unbeatable war machine.

Lol, I can see you're really a big fan of Sephiroth... And no offense but.. You probably didn't know this, Kefka was evil enough to poison a river and kill an entire castle of its defenders. Men and women alike were all killed. (If i remembered too, he didn't feel a shred of regret or repose after that too)

And I think Sephiroth won't get replaced this easily. I was thinking the villain of XIII would be something like XII, something political. As in, a government to work against. Then again, its a little early to decide if the villain would be better... But as a guess, I doubt so.
 
I do agree so.No matter how "epic" Sephiroth is he needs to give his place to a younger one and a different one.I hope they don't fail at creating a strong-personality villain in this game.
