Should Beatrix have been an optional Secret character?

Since FFIX was one of the rare FF's which has offered no secret characters - although this HAS seemed to have become a trend after FFVIII - do you think that the lovely General Beatrix should have been made a fully useable character? Meaning you would be allowed to change her Weapon armour and abilitys etc.

i think she should have been - Beatrix is a kick ass swordswoman and would have been a lot better than Steiner IMO
 
Yeah. Replacing Steiner with Beatrix would have been a good move. They should have had Steiner die or something and then Beatrix joins you.
 
She definitely should have joined you. But, Steiner's Sword Art makes her Seiken pointless by the end of the game, it's not unique anymore. Plus, the Sword Magic is pretty kick ass, and Beatrix couldn't've used it. I don't think she should have REPLACED Steiner, but a nice counterpart wouldn't've hurt :D
 
Ohhh yeah, definitely! I love Beatrix so much, her character design is just so unique! It would have been so cool if they let her join your party...although, I don't really like the idea of her replacing Steiner. :P She could just join the party with Steiner still in it.
 
There is that option but SE probably thought that there would be too many characters. There's 8 full customizable characters in the game already and they probably thought 9 would be too many. That's probably why they killed one off in FFVII.
 
No 9 Characters ARN'T too many.

Look at FFVI - 13 playable characters. And i highly doubt that
Aeris
died in FFVII because 9 was too many characters - it was vital to the plot.

Anyway i think that if she had been in their : Beatrix Steiner Vivi and Garnet would be the ultimate team ^_^
 
Hmmm.... 13 eh? Never finished FFVI so I don't know. I got to the part when the world is destroyed and you play as Celes and you find Sabin in that village. That's about how far I got. I only got 9 characters in that game at that point. I didn't think there would be any more.
 
It would of been good if she joined without replacing any other characters...and if someone HAD to be replaced i would replace Amarant...
 
Speaking of too many playable characters... I think the more the merrier. Has anyone played Chrono Cross? If you have, then you know what I mean. Even though I guess that game kind of tanked... I loved it! LIke 20-30 characters.

As far as beatrix... I think she should have been a playable character. And maybe when you form a party with her a steiner the Sword Mag becomes something between the two of them(beatrix and steiner). Like... Double Shock-Break Damage Limit-Save The Queen!! (all one move btw)
 
Yea, I don't think that Steiner should have died... but I'm suprised she wasn't. I remember playing through the game and being convinced that she was going to be a secret character but it never happened. I don't think it should ever be added in the case of a port or a remake, but it was sort of disappointing you never got to play as her.
 
maybe if she joined after the events of the disc 2 other wise that would totally change the storyline
 
That would be amazing, to have to different storylines based on a decision to let beatrix join or not. Or something along those lines... I think you seen what I mean.
 
I would have loved to have her as part of the party. Maybe make Steiner the monk character and her the knight. Or she could have just completely replaced Quina and have her still be able to use her sword but also have her be able to learn Blue magic.
 
Nah, just because I liked hwo she came in as a uber strong character comapred to the rest of your party, and it's kind of like when you get to play as Seymour in FFX. He's got some great strength in Magic and even attacks, but it's just a taste of it, not the whole entree.

I liked her as a guest character but no more. You don't always want "too much of a good thing."
 
She is basically like steiner so it would be like having 2 steiners, but i thought she was used well in the game
