Should they remake for PS3?

Personally, I would love to see FF8 remade on one of the later systems now. The game was really one of the first ones I ever played, and it was also what originally got me interested in types of characters and plot, which lead me to writing.

Just the thought of seeing a better looking Rinoa and Squall, and of course Seifer, is amazing. On the PS1 version, they are all pixely lol!

And can you imagine some of the cut videos? My god, they look good even now for a playstation 1 game, imagine them on a system with some real graphics. The alien scene, amazing. The dancing movie would be great as well.

What you guys think?

I think that'd be awesome as well! ^_^ I love VIII as well and thought the CG graphics were amazing, except for the characters in the engine game. =/ Squall looked like he has a lipstick on or something. >.<

Hmm, but I really doubt SE would take the time to remake FFVIII. They're focusing on other things now, spinoffs of VII included. And I think it's still kinda too soon to remake VIII. But yeah, it'd be cool to play with the idea. ^_^

Good lord no. As much as I love this game it seems utterly pointless. It could lead into pointless sequels, with a rerelease, and I don't want that to ruin my interest in VIII, as it has done with VII.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few sequels, but that would be later down the road. Really, it would be hard for them to make sequels I think...I mean they covered pretty well everything in the game. :)

But ya, a remake for PS3 would be awesome. lol, imagine the scene when Squall is running from the machine monster after going to the satellite tower or whatever, (The SeeD mission). It would be awesome to see that in the PS3 graphics.

It would be cool, I guess.. but as long as they just kept it as a remake, no VIII compilation, as then the game would lose its awsomeness, as Rulia stated.

I think they should start making spinoffs for FF8 like they did for FF7. I believe they should be for the PS3 or other system with good graphics. That would be awesome.

I too would like to see it on 360...actually I would like to see it with 360 graphics and Wii controls. lol

If they did, i'd rather them improve the game and put in a pack with other classic FF games, i'm not paying 50 something pounds for a game i've already got that just has improved graphics.

Seconded. It would be pointless. I'd only want it remade for graphics and Voiceovers. But I think I could live without them. Maybe I wouldn't mind if you could have Seifer and Laguna at the end. But... Otherwise I just say no. It'd ruin the images in our minds that we already have of this game that are so beautiful and precious.

If anything, the old games will show up on the Playstation Network. Why? Cause I think technically Sony owned the publishing rights to FF7 and maybe 8. Don't take me seriously on that. May have just been something I heard.

Also, FF7 would be the more likely candidate for a remake. Bigger and more loyal fan-base then FF8. Plus, they already re-did FF7's opening. Why start a new one?

But seriously, a remake would be soooo awesome. I might actually try to defeat it's cheap-a** boss with cheap-a** tactics

I too agree with Judge Rulia.

however i wouldnt say no to just a simple remake - just no to a compilation - i mean who wants the screaming fangirls for VIII that theyve got from VII by making AC and stuff?

I don't think that it would be made, well not before FFVII anyway. It just wasn't as popular as VII but it would be nice to see a remake of VIII since I did find it to be a fun game

I'd like to see a remake, but the monsters don't level up with you then it would be a great game.

I agree. That was a bummer because by the third disc they were whipping ass.

But really, I would love 7 and 8.

How do people hate that the monsters level up with you?(I'm not meaning to offend anyone, but... Here goes...) If you really hate it that much, buy a gameshark and kill everything with Squall. 'Cause all you're really saying there is : "I want to rush through the game and finish it without even really getting a chance to admire the sophistication of the battle system." The strong monsters are meant as a challenge to your skills. You have to go through arduous battles for anything good. It wouldn't be any fun if you could kill eveything in less than 3 minutes, now would it? That would be a bitter taste of victory that really sucks.

Off topic, but meh for now.

I agree with you. While I complain about it, everytime I play the game I spend almost 50 hours just leveling up my characters and fighting everything I come across. Its time consuming sure, but I do love it. T-rexaur=fun always imo.

And I have never owned a gameshark or anything that even resembles one.

Lol... I'm sure its pretty obvious that I'd like to see it remade. :D

Some things that I'd like to see would be...

- Voice Acting. (English voice acting as used in XII)

- A complete overhaul of the graphics (don't just port the game over for the newer hardware)

- Add a lot more in depth story and playtime with Laguna and Co, including Raine & Ellone.

- I liked the Draw and Junction system, but, I wouldn't object to seeing it updated or completely changed.

- Finally, if SE ever decided to remake VIII, I would only hope that they don't change the story line at all, not that they couldn't add to the story to explain and settle some long winded debates, but just leave the main story as is.

Very true, but you can't select your own level of difficulty. Like for example people can't challenge each other to see who completes it at the lowest level. Ain't one of the main things with a RPG to develop your characters. I think there is no developing here because you can finish the game at any level. Anyway thats just what i think....
