What would you guys advise me to play next? straight to FF8 or Crisis Core?.

Crisis Core Keep FF8 as the last FF you play. It's just not a very good game.

CC isn't a great game but it's still better.

Go straight to FF8 if you didn't like 7 that much. If you did, maybe CC would be the way to go.

Good thing that's just an opinion. I find 8 very amusing, at least at the beginning. I strongly recommend playing 8 before CC before you become way too attached to graphics and the like.

But it's not our choice. Let the thread starter decide.

Play Crisis Core you want to know the story behind the man Cloud thought he was, Zack Strife. FFVII did noit clearly elaborate on who he was, so Crisis Core can explain a few things about him, as well as why Sephiroth did what he did. You also get to see the other 1st class SOLDIERS Angeal and Genesis.

I'm with Tedo, I HIGHLY suggest you skip past Crisis Core like it was the bubonic plague. The game is just TERRIBLE with terrible storyline--the whole thing is just terrible.

Seriously, play FF8 next. THAT is a fun game.

Do whatever you feel is right. If you want to know more about the things surrounding the game, go for Crisis Core. If not, then go straight for FFVIII.

In your opinion... VIII is my favourite, on the other hand, so I'd say go for that.
But you don't have to go for either next. I certainly didn't play them in order.

However, like some people said, if you want to try and clear up a few points about Cloud and Zack you might not have understood in the original VII, Crisis Core will clear those up. So that's a good follow up.
Just play whatever you fancy playing :neomon:

Crisis Core is not terrible, you're just upset because it shows Zack as Aerith's true love :p

I would recommend Crisis Core. I mean, if you plan on playing them in order, it will be a long while before you come back to it. Better to play it while VII's fresh on the brain. Plus, in my opinion, Crisis Core has a very good storyline, and Zack Fair is a lovable character. I also love VIII a lot, but I still recommend Crisis Core first.

If you liked VII, I recommend Crisis Core.

Crisis Core is easily one of the better Final Fantasies out there. The story is great and fits together very nicely with VII. Also, Crisis Core has one of the best, most touching/sad endings of any Final Fantasy.

I'd actually recommend FF8 and not Crisis Core. You're gonna get second thoughts on FFVII and the characters.Maybe cause I found the storyline cheap and pretty much copying the original.
Of course it's up to you.I just wouldn't recommend it.Only to spend time doing something CC is good, but not to be taken seriously in fact.

You might as well play Crisis Core before 8, its a shorter game and it's a pre-quel to VII so playing 8 then Crisis Core just seems a tad pointless to me

personally, I really enjoyed both games for one reason or another.

I agree with Lifestream, CC has fun gameplay whilst VIII will come off as slow. I warn you, VIII's story is one of those "focus more on characters, world and everything else comes second titles"...well... then again so is Crisis Core. But I'd pick up VIII over CC anyday. I understand why many people like that game but it just didn't do it for me.

I say go for FFVIII. Reason being Im a FFVIII fan. CC was too much for me and I got bored very quickly with it. VIII is 4 disks of pure heaven and fun IMO.

I'd suggest FFVIII, for the simple reason that it is a "main series" Final Fantasy game. It as an epic feel to it that only Final Fantasy games can have, it has a great character development system, and a very intruiging plot.

FFVIII divides a lot of fans in their opinions, but it is important that you play it for yourself. I see a few people (even on here) that say "I have no interest in playing FF7/8/9/whatever". There is no way that you can know without playing them for yourself.

In my opinion I'd go for FF8 now.

If you play Crisis Core straight away you might notice a lot of flaws in it and might not enjoy it as much. It is a prequel to give more backstory to Zack and to the events of FFVII in general but it made some serious changes to the canon of the original game that might annoy you if you liked the original game a lot. I say avoid playing Crisis Core for a while because these changes might be more blatant after having just completed FF7. You also want to make sure that you don't overkill yourself with the FF7 universe.

So I say FF8 for a fresh new story and world. It's a great game in my opinion and is well made to the same level as FF7 (or more or less depending on individual opinion).

VIII is a much longer game than CC, but I personally think you'll get more out of it. If you have the time, go for VIII. If you just want to have temporal fun, then play CC.

Actually, I think I will play crisis core next, so, how any hours to complete on average?

It's obvious why you played CC. Fandom nowadays.

I guess since you figured out that you're going to play CC, the thread should end.:starwars:

LOL you serious? It is similar because it is, in essence, the same story. Just focuses on a different character.

That is like saying that every Star Wars or Harry Potter that came out after the first one is "cheap" and "copying the original."

Personally, I thought VIII, while it had a decent story and characters, had some crappy gameplay. That draw system was one of the worst in a FF that I've had the displeasure of experiencing. My thoughts on the draw system can be summed up by a parody I saw a while back:

*Cloud & Squall fighting various enemies*
*Squall starts by drawing from the enemy*
Cloud: What are you doing?!!
Squall: I'm drawing Magic to up my level!
Cloud: Okay, that's way too time consuming, and retarded. When did we just stop kicking their asses as fast as we could?
:D

It depends on how many of the missions you do.
I'm nearly at the end and I've racked up 30 hours of gameplay, but I'd say about 15/16 hours of that has been when I've been playing the missions (and I haven't done all of the missions yet, either)
So although it's a good game, the main storyline is not very long.
