when I am stressed I don't seem to do much to help myself, I end up just snapping at everyone and just generally start being a jerk.
There isn't really anywhere for me to hide at home D:
I rarely, rarely ever get stressed. Having split up with my gf a few months ago, A-Level exams and studying law at university stress has come part and parcel with the whole setup to me so I've just sort of naturally learned to take it on the chin and just get on with it. I find that hitting a certain objective of the thing that is causing the stress is the best way to relieve it even though 9 times out of 10 it means having to peak your stress levels to achieve it. If I push something to the side I just end up constantly thinking about it so I end up getting more stressed anyway.
I meditate. You might think its cliche, but I find it works best for me. I find a quiet area, sit/lie in a comfortable position, clear my head and take deep breaths. It slows your down brain down until you're able to think coherently and really analyze the problem or reason why you're stressed, thus allowing you to develop a solution to that problem.
And, as many people have mentioned, listening to music helps. Jazz does it best for me.
I usually prefer to be alone. People will either offer sympathy or tell you you're over-reacting, neither of which are very helpful when you're genuinely irritated.
I find it quite hard to sit still, I think... I might go for a walk to clear my head or rush about the house cleaning (I sometimes re-arrage my books and DVDs)... When I was at Uni, I usually caught a bus into town and just wandered about a bit until I was incredibly tired. I'd always come back feeling refreshed.
I don't get stressed easily though. My mum is the one and only person able to stress me out when I'm feeling great! If I am generally a bit stressed, it's usually due to ongoing situations which are building up. Recently, I've been stressed due to not having a job, because it's meant a lack of money, a lack of days out (at work), a lack of social time... At Uni, stress was caused by essay upon essay and deadline upon deadline combined with a difficult flatmate and little time to spent with my friends.
Whenever I am stressed, I just have to pop in my earbuds, turn on my mp3player, and listen to my music. It's the only thing that keeps me from going insane in times of being stressed. It also calms me down if the right type of music is being played.
Whenever I am having a bad day(which could lead to stress), I listen to my music. anything and everything revolves around me getting calm by listening to music.
Slightly stressed: I squeeze my stress ball, or play video games.
Mildly stressed: I listen to music.
Very stressed out (but that's very rare): I lash out on my punching bag or get some sleep.
After that I'm all calm and I can continue with my day normally.
I kick the nearest object. Whether it be a chair or an open can of paint, it's getting kicked.
Seriously, I usually just stay in my room. I'll play WWE13 and come on here and I'll feel a whole lot better. It's always so hectic and crazy through the day along with fights, etc. There's never really a chance for me to just relax without being stressed.
