[SU/D] Witches of Aether

Well, we were going to have that happen at night, yes?

Speaking of night-time events...expect Pee Emms closer to the time so we can sort those out. Depending on what people have planned, the RP would come to a closure on the following day or the day after that, around mid-afternoon, perhaps sooner.

I'll get to posting very soon. I've just had quite the long shift at work today and I just need to think of what to come up with, following you all. xD

Damon Salvatore

I've already bumped into Jacob and started a conversation, alyss is there too :P
Just read my and ringos last posts.

I must've missed it, my sincere apologies. I'll get to editing.

Edit: And that's my post edited!

It would appear we've slowed down again. Are people waiting on someone, or is it something else? :ahmed:

I'm waiting on Raye or Diar, but more of Diar at the moment for my next Katyusha post. However, for Alyss I'm waiting on either Squid or EhMii.

I'm just trying to think of what my character can do at this point since near everyone is busy with someone :hmmm:

My apologies once again. I appear to have been busy once more, I'll get to writing up a post as soon.

Sorry for the slight slowdown, people :gasp:

Long story short, Raye has had to drop out due to College, hence why there has been a little slowdown and confusion. However, there shall be a new Frost Witch, so we're not going to be shorthanded~

All manner of crazy shit is planned for the night (which is about 5 hours off in the RP) and, either the following day or the day after that (depending on what poeople have planned and what they want to do) the RP shall come to an abrupt end, so if you've got anything planned or anything you wanted to do, plan it out with that timeframe in mind~

I'll make a post either later on tonight or tomorrow...

I've already got the rest of my Alyss and Katyusha plans planned out with you. So, I'm all good. My posts have been kind of shit lately. So I apologize for that. However, I'm finding it just as awkward to write up a post with Alyss being social almost as much as she would probably find it awkward to be social.

It's like I'm really writing out most of my social interactions with strangers in a RP.

With Jennyver down and out, here is her replacement:

Alias: Eva
True Name: Grace
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Affiliation: Witch - unaffiliated to begin with prior to her birthday
Weapon: Just one stare from her can turn your blood to ice. This is of course, in a metaphorical sense and not literal.
Element: Frost

Appearance:

A3CEB.jpg

Credits go to Martel for suggesting the pic!

At first sight, there is an air of delicateness and fragility with Eva. She is characteristically thin and weak in appearance, not quite lithe and more towards gaunt than anything. She has a small frame of 5’0” in height and this combined with her delicate stature, Eva looks conspicuously a couple of years younger than her current sixteen years, though this younger appearance masking her true age is nowhere near as exaggerated as a certain other witch lurking in the city. Her facial appearance looks distinctly Asian, with the obstinately sharp chin, shaping her face into what appears to be an inverted triangle, as well as thinly-framed nose and thin lips. She is not however; Oriental with no Asian blood flowing through her, but rather this is the product of years of inadequate nutrition.

Perhaps the most distinct feature of Eva is her eyes – a pair of large, marble-sized silvery-blue eyes with narrow pupils. To an onlooker, there is certainly an essence of creepiness with these eyes. They enjoy wandering around, as if uncontrollably, and staring at everything, like something that a curious toddler would enjoy doing. The watery silver-blue coupled with the narrow pupils only wash away all signs of life in the eyes, leaving their stares look creepily empty. Whether she had been without sunlight for a considerable length of time or whether her malnutrition had been the sole cause of this, Eva’s skin is remarkably pale. Contrasting this is the hair, its colour at first, appears to be jet black, but is in actual fact an exceptionally dark hazelnut colour. The bangs line up tidily, parting a little above her right eye. Thin locks of hair hang at the side, just enough to conceal her ears while a frilly white bobble holds in place a medium-length wavy ponytail that she often leaves hanging over her front left shoulder.

There is something almost Victorian or Edwardian with Eva’s choice of attire. This is a girl who has shied away from modernity and the rest of the social world and therefore her dress looks remarkably like something from over a century or two ago. On the whole, the dress is monotone, predominantly white in colour juxtaposed with frontal black on the chest area and with black accents. It tightly binds below the chest and above the stomach area to the extent that it almost acts as a corset on its own, and the rest of the dress coming down is slightly frilly, reaching down below the knee level. Eva leaves only her lower leg exposed and on the whole remains modestly dressed, finished with a simple pair of dark shoes.

Personality: Despite Eva’s own sickly and weak appearance, it serves only to mask and deceive, as Eva herself scorns the weaknesses of others. Years of abuse from her drunken father had forced her to seek escape from her childhood quickly, as well as the innocence and the simplicity life as a child would bring, and quickly aimed to grow up and to abandon the throes of childhood. She detests the fact that for years she had been unable to resist her father, and neither could her sister, Jessica and therefore has come to the conclusion that she could not survive as she was and had to prematurely adopt the strength of an adult to force her way out of the dysfunctional family quickly and to escape the horrors that were dealt to her and her sister on a regular basis. When her father did eventually die of circumstances that astonished her, Eva’s wish to escape was finally granted to her. Thrown into the outside world, Eva has since grown staunchly determined to survive on her own and shunning the idea of dependence. To stay dependent to her is the symptom of a child, and the one fact her childhood had been nothing but hell, this motivation to force her to be an adult burns brightly.

Jessica’s disappearance and presumed death has hardly left much of an impact on her. Eva’s relationship with her sister had not been an amiable or harmonious one. She detested the fact that Jessica had no aspirations to abandon the family with her or even put up resistance against their hated father. This was made worse when Jessica was made the Water Witch – an event that Eva had secretly watched, though soon made no secret of in front of her sister. When Jessica refused to use her powers to punish their father, Eva only interpreted this as being nothing but pathetic timidity and weakness, growing ever more furious with the fact that her weak older sister gained the powers and not her. To her, Jessica had betrayed, had abandoned her. What sort of older sister (that she was relying on nonetheless for their mother could do nothing but hardly be around) would just submissively do nothing DESPITE possessing the powers she had just to allow their abusive and drunken bastard of a father to continue to beat them out of temper day by day? The very thought of her sister rings only an angry sense of injustice and betrayal in Eva’s mind and since she has done nothing but seek to completely dissociate from her.

For years Eva has yearned for nothing but powers of her own. She partially understands the implications of being a witch having overheard the Horned King when He approached Jessica that night. The horrific prospect of being hunted however is mostly lost on her. If she can attain a witch’s power, then the actual task of hunting the other witches would be her ultimate goal. She would not allow herself to submissively wait for one to come. She would be the harbinger of their demise by being the one actively seeking them out. As Eva yearns for nothing but this, she also willingly discards all other forms of ambition in life. With her poor schooling and her background, Eva has never been an academic pillar, convincing herself that thanks to her hellish childhood, her bastard devil of a father, and her pathetically inept mother and sister, she had been unjustly robbed of a decent start to life and therefore will eternally be disadvantaged no matter how hard she tries to fight against it. To attain the powers of a witch would also mean a way to get back at everyone and everything – to possess some way of venting out everything – her frustrations and sense of injustice.

Though she lives with relatives in the poorer suburbs of London, Eva hardly communicates with them, seeing that her uncle had shared a womb with her evil father and therefore deserved nothing fro Eva in return. She would rather shut herself away from them in her room, indulging herself with some classic works of literature such as Pride & Prejudice, secretly admiring the romanticism of the novel, though at the same time frustrated by the fact that she can hardly read a page of a book without struggling. The fact that her schooling has been so unsatisfactory is no fault of her own, and Eva acknowledges this so as aforementioned, she decides to brace what she perceives as being the inevitable and accept the fact that destiny has dictated that she’d start off life so disadvantaged. As a matter of fact, Eva embraces the idea of predestination rather openly, as seen with the notion that fate had made her disadvantaged and terrorised as a child. With this in mind, Eva also believes that she is destined for something greater, something that will help wash away every bit of crap that had been thrown at her as a child. She believes therefore that she will be a witch one day. What will happen after that is unclear to her, although the prospect of hunting each one of her future brethren down for their powers is a tantalising one.

As Pride and Prejudice has exhibited, Eva keeps to herself her fixation and attraction towards romantic stories. Like many other teenage girls of her age, Eva would like nothing more than to be normal like everyone else, hang around with a clique of friends and slip into relationships. However, she just lacks the social ability of her peers and puts herself in a dilemma, wherein at the same time she wants no association with a lot of the children she went to school with, for she perceives them as being overly childish and a bunch of backstabbers that do not deserve her trust and devotion. If there had been one thing she efficiently picked up from school, it was the ability to fabricate lies and use them to one’s advantage. If the ultimate result would be of any benefit to her, Eva would gladly smile and lie, manipulatively using words against a target or two and even setting them against each other.

Eva’s manipulative nature is also complimented with her rather unpredictable nature. It is not unusual for Eva to strike up some brief alliances one moment, then backstab them the next, before doing the same to another party. As a result, one has to learn to watch their back whenever Eva wishes to forge an alliance with them, as they are likely to be double crossed at unexpected moments. While Eva is mostly calm and collected, rarely losing her cool and thrashing out with a horrific temper, she can sometimes take even the most trivial of things too personally and seriously. For example, if a stranger were to even look at her in a way that reminded Eva of her father in even the tiniest of ways, she may verbally attack him, spit at him, or even physically attack him. Other times she may not even do anything, which makes reading her mind at times a little less straightforward than it seems.

Bio: Eva was born near Bideford in South Devon as the third child. As well as Jessica, she would have had another sister by the name of Amy, but she had tragically died at the heartbreaking age of six months due to severe heart and pulmonary artery problems. Though one would associate the place as being a healthy coastal town, her family lived in a rather deprived neighbourhood that even local law enforcers dared not properly deal with. It was mainly ruled by small rival gangs with their ultimate eye on the trading of crack, heroin and other forms of common drugs to London in particular. It had been heavily rumoured that Eva’s father was affiliated with one of the drug gangs and this seemed to have been confirmed when at most evenings, they would ring or knock at their tiny semi-detached home to speak to him.

Eva’s father was certainly no hero to her or presumably to Jessica. He was a workshy man, commonly bleating about how there are no opportunities for him, so if the state is willing to dish out benefits to the family, then who cares? It wasn’t anything illegal as far as this bloody government was concerned. What frustrated him was that the mother of Eva and Jessica was subverting this workshy and dependent philosophy. She would disappear out of the house early in the morning to work long hours in an Argos warehouse nearby in hopes of earning enough to support the family. This contradicted her husband’s desire of letting the state do that for them. Where was the harm in leeching off the state? The man himself would often spend his nights in a pub, drinking pint after pint to the point that if his liver hadn’t turned to ash yet, it would be utterly surprising indeed. In the day, he would often fail to adequately care for his daughters, often intimidating a neighbour into watching the two girls. When his wife did finally return home each day, she would often find waiting for her an explosive man, his temper often getting the better of him and countless occasions of verbal tirades and physical attacks. No one would dare call social services or the police in fear of having themselves hammered against the ground by the foot of this man.

Jessica exhibited little to no intentions whatsoever of doing anything about their deranged and dangerous father. Eva on the other hand, would imagine the most gruesome of deaths for their father – from electrocution to being burned alive. As Jessica did no such thing – nor did she seek to speak ill of their father for some reason – Eva grew irritated, beginning to garner the impression that she should be the older sister and not Jessica, for she was dreaming of ways to help each other escape this hellhole. Why was Jessica so reluctant to cooperate with her and possibly even to help Eva get her own back at the man for the years of terror? By the time Eva was twelve, she was already thinking of life as an adult – transcending the awful childhood that she was facing. Imagining the liberty she would have as well as the absence of domestic abuse and violence around her that was her one sole desire. Material objects bared little significance to her, probably because she had spent a childhood deprived of them. Objects like toys and handheld gadgets were merely to her the very playthings of children and if she were to seek a life as adult, she would need none of them.

When Jessica turned sixteen, something happened that would change not only hers, but Eva’s life as well. The Horned King had bestowed upon her sister the powers of water – she was now a witch. Eva was secretly observing this event, though whether her presence could be detected at the time was unknown to her. The next day, she cornered Jessica, asking her everything about what had happened to her and asking her to perform all forms of wondrous magical techniques such as the summoning of rain and causing small tidal waves in a bathtub. Eva grew exceptionally excited and wide-eyed with wonder; she asked Jessica whether she could use these powers to their advantage. Their father often lost his temper and lashed out not only at his wife, but at the pair of them as well. Eva could still see and feel the bruise on her right thigh and at night, she would face the same morbid, horrific nightmare – the vision of her father chaining her to a wall and whipping her mercilessly until her skin littered the ground. Eva wanted nothing more than for Jessica to drown him with her water powers. Jessica not only refused, but she turned abruptly against her sister, their relationship at the very nadir.

Why? Why won’t Jessica do it? They have faced years of terror and abuse and their mother could give up on life soon completely as their father’s drinking habit and ferocious lack of self control only worsened. Why won’t she put an end to the very entity – the devil – that plagued their lives so? Eva came to only one conclusion – Jessica was weak. She was nothing but a timid bitch. She was capable of nothing. She just could not understand anything. How was she a witch? How was this BITCH chosen by the Horned King to be a witch? What sort of criterion did one need to be a witch now? Eva could only surmise that the Horned King had made a mistake. Demonic entity or not, He wasn’t infallible. He had just made the terrible mistake of bestowing this pathetic young woman with the powers of a witch. Why couldn’t it have gone to her instead? Their father was the evil son of a bitch and he deserved everything that Eva would have given to him. She relished the prospect of drowning him in the toilet bowl. Yet no, her sister was the witch and her sister was the one now opposing her. How could one act so shocked like that? What was deemed to be unjust about Eva’s intentions? Jessica to Eva had served only to disappoint and worse, completely betray her. If there was a chance that she could take the water powers by killing Jessica, then she could, but that would be horrifically extreme even for her.

When her father did eventually die, Eva felt a curious mix of overwhelming joy and of excruciating loss. The former was a no-brainer. The very bastard that terrified her for years had been horribly killed (impaled by a bramble? That was new…), but the former stemmed from the fact that she never got the chance to kill her father with her own hands. If only – if only – the Horned King could have given powers to her earlier. With her father killed and not by her own hands, Eva felt robbed of ONE of the things that would have satisfied her immensely. It left a large hole in her that would remain unfilled. At the time, Jessica had disappeared somewhere for the night and Eva had luckily escaped the house, for the perpetrator also massacred half the neighbourhood. Seeing how they were killed, Eva knew almost immediately that this was the work of a witch, and began to deeply revere the witches. Her desire to become a being of such power would only intensify and blossom even more, as would her anger and frustration for the Horned King still refused to come. And still, Eva could not bring herself to kill her own sister for her powers and that was even assuming that she could inherit her sister’s powers in such a manner.

Jessica’s imminent disappearance afterwards left Eva assuming that she was dead, so disappointingly, there went her chance of taking the water powers. Other than that, it left little impact on her. Jessica was weak and a traitor, so she deserved her fate. Round about this time, she embraced the concept of fate tightly, believing that since Jessica went against her, fate had punished her. Fate had punished her father. Fate had punished her. And fate would soon reward her with new powers. After the death of her father and the loss of her sister (her mother did eventually commit suicide), Eva was taken to live with her uncle and aunt in London. The uncle was the twin brother of her hated father, and that was enough for Eva to focus her resentment on him, for his physical looks seemed to be the very picture and effigy of her father. Granted, he was nothing like her father in terms of behaviour (he actually cared about her); Eva still had none of it. To her, the very face of her father was continually haunting her and mocking her from beyond the grave.

Eva would often disappear from the house for considerable lengths of time, deliberately worrying her uncle and aunt. She still lived in deprived conditions as they were in a rather poor area of southeast London, so her education continued to be substandard according to her, and she continued to accept the idea that it was too late for her academically. No way could she ever achieve a chance of higher education. Her one ambition in life now was to be a witch anyway, not to be anything pathetic like a teacher. As each day passed, she would think about the Horned King, cursing Him and constantly attempting to figure out why He came for Jessica but not for her. Then it dawned on her the possibility that He could arrive on the very morn of her sixteenth birthday. Could that be the case then? Could He finally come to her on the night she turned sixteen?

Excited speculation this could be, but whether or not the Horned King will reward Eva eventually is entirely up to Him…

And if He does reward Eva with her powers, she will be ready for it. Though Grace is her real name, she is sticking with Eva, a common and innocuous kind of name that would raise few eyebrows. And when He does come, she shall be the one to find the witches herself…

Obviously Liv Liv, you're approved :gasp:
*forgot to mention that*

In the meantime...I'll keep track of the time in the RP, and when we can start our night-time events, I'll let you all know. Not far off now :ryan:

Night time events. :ryan:

Anyway, I'm about to put up a post with Katyusha here soon. I can't do anything with Alyss at the moment. :mokken:

This is a general announcement for all involved: if there is no continuos posting within the next couple of days, and one of two things will happen: you'll be written off, or killed off.

If you're waiting on someone else, then pester that someone to post, and if they don't, then I'm just going to recommend you carry on without them. We'll be hitting the night soon and our next set of plot-shaking events, so if you put your character in the general area, we can figure things out from there.

By Wednesday, I am going to start kicking people out, or this RP is going to die again, and the only reason I'm still on this forum right now is because of the RPs I'm in and have planned. If we're being slowed down, then we're just going to move on; I wasn't kidding when I said that in the first post. If we don't keep going at a reasonably steady pace, then things are just going to dwindle and die, and I'd really rather that didn't happen. If that means I've got to kick out some people so that others can keep moving, so be it.

The sole exception to this warning/ultimatum is Nessy, since he's stuck in the middle of Irene at the moment, I believe.

That is all~

I'll get a post up tomorrow if I can. Been extremely busy lately with work and having to get ready for moving into a new house this week, but it should all calm down very soon.

Well, I am going to try to keep up as best I can. We got some bad luck and lost power, and since it was such a small group of houses we are very low on the list of people to be restored. Our house has already been out for three days and we're likely to remain out for another day or two.

Long story short, I'll do my best to keep up...I've been spending time at Starbucks to help pass the time. When power's restored, I will be back into it full swing.

:hmmm: I think either tomorrow or Thursday, I'll write out all the plans made for upcoming events in the RP (minus some ending spoilers) and drop each of you a PM, so those who are stuck for something to do can integrate themselves into things. Come midnight RP time, things are going to escalate significantly, and it'd be a good idea to have everyone in place so that we don't trip over one another. xD

I'm afraid I won't be able to post for the next few days, at the very least. I've just moved into a new house and won't have any internet access for a while. I can get on at the University library, but this will only be for checking emails and such. Apologies to Ringo especially; you can feel free to knock out Jacob if you want. :gasp:
